The Singapore Minister for Communications and Information Technology
has announced that the Singapore Government (through its
Telecommunications authority, IDA), has awarded a provisional
facilities-based operator licence (FBO) to Davnet Singapore Pte Ltd,
a newly created subsidiary of Davnet Limited. The provisional licence
will take effect from 1 April 2000.

The provisional FBO licence allows Davnet Singapore to provide
leading edge IP based services to Singapore`s Corporate CBD tenants,
offering them large bandwidth (from 64 kbps to 1,000 Mbps) for voice,
data, internet access, data back-up and videoconferencing through the
one digital socket.

Stephen Moignard, Davnet Limited`s Managing Director and CEO, said
today that the IDA approval was a significant step in the company`s
global expansion and marks Davnet`s entry into one of Asia`s largest
business and commercial centres. Davnet`s aggressive Asian growth
plans include the rollout of its services in all major cities with a
large concentration of high rise CBD buildings, including Kuala
Lumpur, Seoul, Tokyo and major cities in China, Taiwan, India and
Indonesia.

Davnet`s services are already being marketed in Hong Kong by its Hong
Kong subsidiary, Davnet Digital Hong Kong (DDHK). DDHK recently moved
into its second facility in Hong Kong to house its sales team of 35
people and is also expanding its existing co-location services with
the establishment of a new Premier Data Centre, expected to be in
operation within three months. The company is also continuing
discussions in connection with the proposed acquisition of New World
Telephone Limited (NWT). These negotiations are expected to take some
time and Davnet has decided not to renew the previously held
exclusivity to negotiate the acquisition during this extended period.

"Concurrent with Davnet`s success in Australia and Hong Kong, we are
looking forward to bringing our advanced technology and solutions to
Singapore, thereby contributing to its future global communications
economy," Moignard said.
