HuC242-DM1/SB-408075 Enters Second Phase I/II Clinical Trial
ImmunoGen reaches fifth milestone in collaboration with SmithKline Beecham, triggering $2.0 million payment
CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Sept. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- ImmunoGen, Inc. (Nasdaq: IMGN - news) today announced that huC242-DM1/SB-408075, its lead Tumor-Activated Prodrug (TAP) for the treatment of colorectal and pancreatic cancers, has entered a second Phase I/II clinical trial. The Company`s partner, SmithKline Beecham (SB), is conducting the study. As a result of treating the first patient in the study, ImmunoGen has received a $2.0 million cash payment.
This dose-escalating, multi-dose study is designed to establish the safety of huC242-DM1/SB-408075 when administered weekly and is being conducted at the University of Chicago Cancer Research Center under the direction of Richard L. Schilsky, M.D. To be included in the study are patients suffering from refractory colorectal and pancreatic cancer, and possibly non-small-cell lung cancer. Another Phase I/II clinical trial is ongoing at the Institute for Drug Development of the Cancer Therapy and Research Center, San Antonio, Texas.
``The initiation of this multi-dose Phase I/II trial by SB is an important step forward for ImmunoGen,`` said Mitchel Sayare, Ph.D., Chairman and CEO of ImmunoGen, Inc. ``We believe huC242-DM1/SB-408075 has the potential to be a breakthrough therapy for these severely ill cancer patients.``
Thus far in its agreement with SB, ImmunoGen has achieved five milestones and received payments totaling $14 million.
ImmunoGen, Inc. develops innovative biopharmaceuticals, primarily for cancer treatment. The Company has created potent tumor-activated prodrugs, consisting of drugs coupled to monoclonal antibodies for delivery to and destruction of cancer cells. Besides SmithKline Beecham, the Company has collaborative arrangements with Genentech and British Biotech.
This press release includes forward-looking statements based on management`s current expectations. Factors that could cause future results to differ materially from such expectations include, but are not limited to: the ability to secure future funding; the success of the Company`s research strategy; the applicability of the discoveries made therein; the difficulties inherent in the development of pharmaceuticals, including uncertainties as to the timing and results of preclinical studies; delayed achievements of milestones; reliance on collaborators; uncertainty as to whether the Company`s potential products will succeed in entering human clinical trials and uncertainty as to the results of such trials; uncertainty as to whether adequate reimbursement for these products will exist from the government, private healthcare insurers and third-party payors; and the uncertainties as to the extent of future government regulation of the pharmaceutical business.

hallo woodawork,
und last but not least. der "fifth milestone in collaboration with SmithKline Beecham" in höhe von 2Mill.
weiterhin: ``The initiation of this multi-dose Phase I/II trial by SB is an important step forward for ImmunoGen,`` said Mitchel Sayare,

Aber was soll´s!

ImmunoGen Reports Favorable Preclinical Results for huN901-DM1/BB-10901
- Results Presented at NCI-EORTC-AACR International Conference in Amsterdam -
CAMBRIDGE, Mass., November 8, 2000 - ImmunoGen, Inc. (Nasdaq: IMGN) today announced that huN901-DM1/BB-10901, a
Tumor-Activated Prodrug (TAP) for the treatment of small-cell lung cancer (SCLC), was well-tolerated in monkeys when
administered on a weekly dosing schedule. In addition, the TAP showed exceptional anti-tumor activity in mouse studies, even at
very low doses. These preclinical results were presented today at the 11th NCI-EORTC-AACR (National Cancer
Institute-European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer-American Associate for Cancer Research) Symposium on
New Drugs in Cancer in Amsterdam.
"Demonstrating the safety of this TAP on a weekly dosing schedule in monkeys is important because we intend to use this schedule
in the upcoming human clinical trials," said Mitchel Sayare, Ph.D., Chairman and CEO of ImmunoGen, Inc. "With the conclusion of
these final preclinical studies, we and our development partner, British Biotech, are on track to submit an Investigational New Drug
(IND) application to the FDA later this year. We are eager to begin human evaluation of this TAP because we believe
huN901-DM1/BB-10901 holds great promise to treat patients suffering from SCLC, an aggressive and usually fatal disease."
HuN901-DM1/BB-10901 is a TAP created by conjugating the cytotoxic maytansinoid drug DM1 with the humanized monoclonal
antibody N901. In tumor xenograft models, huN901-DM1/BB-10901 eradicated human SCLC tumors. In a direct comparison
study, even a low dose of huN901-DM1/BB-10901 was significantly more efficacious than an optimal dose of topotecan, a
chemotherapeutic agent approved for treatment of SCLC. HuN901-DM1/BB-10901 demonstrated cures lasting at least 200 days in
animal models where the combination of cisplatin and VP-16, currently the most effective SCLC agents, caused only a modest
effect. In monkey studies, there was minimal toxicity at total doses significantly higher than those which effected cures in mice.
HuN901-DM1/BB-10901 is being developed in collaboration with British Biotech plc. British Biotech is responsible for conducting
the clinical trials necessary to achieve regulatory approval in the US, EU and Japan. British Biotech has been granted the exclusive
right to develop and commercialize huN901-DM1/BB-10901 in the European Union and Japan. ImmunoGen retains the rights to
commercialize huN901-DM1/BB-10901 in the United States and the rest of the world, as well as the right to manufacture the
product worldwide.
ImmunoGen, Inc. develops innovative biopharmaceuticals, primarily for cancer treatment. The Company has created potent
tumor-activated prodrugs, consisting of drugs coupled to monoclonal antibodies for delivery to and destruction of cancer cells. The
Company`s lead TAP, huC242-DM1/SB-408075 for treatment of colorectal, pancreatic, and certain non-small-cell lung cancers, is
currently under evaluation in two Phase I/II human clinical trials. Besides British Biotech, the Company has collaborative
arrangements with SmithKline Beecham, Genentech, Abgenix, and MorphoSys.

ImmunoGen kaufen
Suntrade
ImmunoGen daran enorm partizipieren.
ImmunoGen daran enorm partizipieren.

Press Release
Dain Rauscher Wessels Announces Investment Opinion On Immunogen
Dain Rauscher Wessels Initiates Coverage of Immunogen With a Buy Rating
MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 2, 2001-- Dain Rauscher Wessels equity analyst Andrew K. Milne today initiated coverage of ImmunoGen Inc. (NYSE: IMGN - news), $22.06, with a Buy-Speculative Risk rating. He has a 12-month price target of $49.
ImmunoGen, a biopharmaceutical company based in Cambridge, Mass., boasts a proprietary technology platform for the production of novel antibody-based therapeutics, referred to as Tumor Activated Prodrugs (TAPs), for the treatment of cancer.
ImmunoGen`s lead compound, huC242-DMI, is currently in Phase I/II clinical trials for the treatment of colorectal, pancreatic and non-small cell lung cancers. ``We have modeled a 2005 launch for huC242-DMI and estimate that peak sales for an approved formulation may approach $500-$750 million,`` Milne said in a report.
According to Milne, ImmunoGen has signed an agreement with GlaxoSmithKline to jointly develop and commercialize huC242-DMI. ``We believe this agreement adds significant credibility to ImmunoGen`s technology and will allow the company to leverage its business model by shifting ongoing development risks to GlaxoSmithKline while solidifying meaningful royalties on potential commercialized sales,`` Milne said.
Institutional investors interested in receiving more information should contact their Dain Rauscher Wessels salesperson. Media interested in receiving Milne`s research report should call (612) 371-2239

3/06/01 - Cambridge, Mass.-Based Biotech Companies Will Create Cancer-Seeking Drugs
Mar 06, 2001 (The Boston Globe - Knight Ridder/Tribune Business News via COMTEX) -- Millennium Pharmaceuticals Inc. and ImmunoGen Inc. yesterday said Millennium will use ImmunoGen`s seek-and-destroy technology to create cancer drugs that obliterate tumors without harming healthy cells.
The technology, Tumor-Activated Prodrug, or TAP, is designed to deliver a highly poisonous cancer-fighting agent to tumors. The agent, naytansine, is 1,000 to 10,000 times more powerful than conventional chemotherapies.
Given on its own, it would indiscriminately kill cancer cells and healthy cells. But ImmunoGen has developed a way to attach the drug to monoclonal antibodies, molecules known for their ability to seek out specific disease-causing cells. TAP technology depends on the antibodies to find the cancer cells, attach to them, and be swallowed by them. Once inside the cells, the naytansine is released, delivering the drug directly and only to the cancer.
The deal between the two Cambridge biotech firms allows Millennium to apply the TAP technology to a certain number of its own antibodies every year for the next five years in an effort to develop cancer-fighting drugs.
"This deal combines the strengths of a company that knows how to discover targets for drugs with a company that knows how to deliver a toxin to those targets," said Walter Newman, Millennium`s senior vice president for biotherapeutics.
His colleague, John Maraganore, the company`s senior vice president for strategic product development, said ImmunoGen`s seek-and-destroy technology may be the key to turning Millennium`s knowledge of genes into breakthrough cancer treatments.
The companies are not disclosing the exact amount of the agreement. But ImmunoGen`s chairman and chief executive Mitchel Sayare said Millennium paid an upfront fee of $2 million and could make milestone payments of as much as $40 million per antibody. ImmunoGen also will receive royalties on any drugs that result from the collaboration.
The revenue from this deal and other similar deals with California biotech companies Genentech Inc. and Abgenix Inc. will help ImmunoGen fund the discovery and development of its own pipeline of cancer-fighting drugs, Sayare said.
The most advanced of the drugs based on the TAP technology are being tested in human clinical trials. British pharmaceutical giant GlaxoSmithKline PLC, another ImmunoGen partner, is testing one as a potential treatment for colorectal cancer. ImmunoGen is testing another as a possible treatment for colorectal and pancreatic cancer and certain non-small-cell lung cancers.
In recent years, several monoclonal antibodies, including high-profile cancer drugs like Herceptin and Rituxin, have been approved as treatments for a variety of diseases, making them a popular avenue of research for biotech and pharmaceutical companies.
By arming antibody treatments with a drug like naytansine, Sayare said, they could become even more effective. The ability to arm them also allows many drug companies to rescue monoclonal antibodies languishing on their shelves because they could seek out disease-causing cells but could not destroy them.
Cancer is one of three disease areas (the others are inflammatory and metabolic disorders) for which Millennium is working to discover and develop drugs and predictive tools.
In trading on the Nasdaq Stock Market, Millennium closed at $33.69, down 88 cents. ImmunoGen stock closed at $15.13, down $1.25.

Sieht doch noch ganz gut aus!
Jetzt siehts wieder besch... aus!! -20%!!!!
NEW YORK, May 14 (Reuters) - Biotechnology stocks faltered
on Monday, reflecting a broader technology slump and some
disappointing clinical trial results from companies presenting
at a national cancer conference in San Francisco.
One of the biggest share-price losers was ImmunoGen Inc.
(NASDAQ:IMGN), which reported less-than-stellar data from an early
clinical trial of a treatment for colorectal, pancreatic and
certain non-small-cell lung cancers. Although the trial was a
Phase I/Phase II study and was therefore a preliminary test,
only two out of 37 patients showed a reduction in tumor sizes.
Shares of Cambridge, Massachusetts-based ImmunoGen fell
$2.13, or 12 percent, to $15.61 in afternoon trading after
tumbling nearly 20 percent earlier in the day

Hallo,
antworte mir selber.

So, wieder drin!
Hi,
hoffe, daß es wieder losgeht. Bin seit 19 Monaten in IMGN investiert.

Siehe
http://www.aacr.org/4000/4400/4490/4497.html
"Highly Specific Biological Agents Attack Mechanisms of Treatment Resistance", darin "Conjugated Herceptin Dramatically Improves Herceptin-Alone Results Against Breast Cancer".
