Hi !

Durch den Artikel der aktuellen EamS bin ich auf Transmeta aufmerksam geworden.

Für alle, die ihn nicht kennen:

Transmeta hat einen Chip kreiert, die Bekanntgabe war bereits im Januar.
Bei diesem Chip namens "Cruesoe", oder besser Prozessor, handelt es um folgende Neuerungen:
Drastisch verringerter Stromverbrauch bei gleicher Leistung.
Notebooks mit diesem Chip hätten bis zu zehnmal mehr Leistung.
Weiterhin kommt Cruesoe mit einem Viertel der Hardware aus, das wohl auch deutliche Größenunterschiede mit sich bringt.
Gesteuert wird dieser Prozessor durch eine intelligente Software. Größter Vorteil bei diesem Prozessor ist wohl, daß man ihn nicht ausbauen braucht bei einem Upgrade des Rechners, sondern ihn erkaufter Software zu weiteren Leistungsschüben bewegen kann.

Man sollte sich vorstellen, was dieses unter anderem für kommende Handygenerationen bedeuten könnte.

Am 6. November soll die Erstnotiz an der Nasdaq sein, zeitgleich soll TMTA in Berlin zu handeln sein.

IPO-Price ist 12$, Whisperprice ist 46$(bei nur 15 Stimmen !), Graumarktpreis soll 30$ sein !

Leider weiß ich das auch nicht, daher hatte ich ein fettes "soll" in den Satz geschrieben.
Die Info habe ich aus einem Board von Juchu.

Ich persönlich finde es schade, daß TMTA verschoben hat wegen des schlechten Börsenklimas. Dann könnte man wenigstens gut einsteigen.

Auf jeden Fall habe ich gestern schon mal `nen Geldtransfer auf mein Wertpapierkonto vorgenommen.

geniesen ist. Trotz alledem ist das Papier aufgrund der Technik des Unternehmens interessant.

****IBM Uses Intel Chip Instead Of Transmeta

SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA, U.S.A., 2000 NOV 2 (NB) -- By Ian Stokell,
Newsbytes. In a turnaround that may yet have costly consequences for the chip
startup`s planned initial public offering (IPO) next week, IBM [NYSE:IBM] has
decided not to use Transmeta Corp.`s energy saving Crusoe semiconductor in
its Thinkpad notebook computers, instead keeping with dominant market Goliath
Intel Corp.`s [NASDAQ:INTC] Pentium III and Celeron products.

The Associated Press reports that IBM will keep using the Intel chips in its ultralight
ThinkPads due in the fourth quarter, despite announcing in June at PC Expo its
intention to use the Crusoe chip. However, other major PC manufacturers have also
committed to using the Crusoe product in their latest ultralight laptops, including
NEC Corp., Sony Corp., and Fujitsu Ltd.

AP quotes IBM company spokesman Tim Blair as saying, "We`ll continue to look at
Transmeta for future products in the ThinkPad line, but at this point, for this
product, we`re not going to market with it right now." Blair reportedly declined to
specify whether the move had anything to do with product performance, engineering
problems or marketing issues.

Transmeta`s Crusoe was introduced in January following five years of secret
development. AP reports that the chip`s "code-morphing" technology is meant to use
less power and give off less heat, which, if so, would extend the battery life for laptop
computers.

Speculation now surrounds Transmeta`s planned Nov. 6 IPO, with some
analysts skeptical of the offering in light of IBM`s decision.

Wenn das wahr ist, kann man nur noch fragen:
Ja mei, ist denn heut scho wieder Weihnachten ?!?

In den gleichen Foren wird von einem rasanten Hype von schnellen 100 USD gesprochen.

Ich sage dazu nur noch:
Bitte laßt uns noch schnell rein, bevor der Zug abfährt.

Normalerweise bin ich eigentlich nicht so zuversichtlich, was Kursangaben angeht, aber da morgen endlich die Präsidentschaftswahl endet, könnte dies durchaus für eine Hausse sorgen.

Ebenfalls habe ich keinen Bedarf daran,(vorerst) Transmeta als Langfristanlage anzusehen. Dafür werden wohl die ersten Tage zu hübsche Tradingchancen locken.
Und später ? Warum nicht ein bißchen was investieren.
Transmeta sehe ich übrigens als späteren Übernahmekandidat der großen.

NEW YORK, Nov 6 (Reuters) - Shares of Transmeta Corp. (NasdaqNM:TMTA - news) priced at $21 per share, well above the estimated price range, in the chipmaker`s highly anticipated initial public offering on Monday.

The company raised $273 million by selling 13 million shares at the $21 per share offering price. The estimated price range was $16-$18 per share, raised on Friday from $11-$13 per share.

Santa Clara, Calif.-based Transmeta plans to use the proceeds for working capital and general corporate purposes. Morgan Stanley Dean Witter and Deutsche Banc Alex. Brown served as lead underwriters on the deal.

NEW YORK (CBS.MW) - Shares in the hot initial public offering from Transmeta are "extremely oversubscribed" for their expected debut on Tuesday, a fund manager said.

Transmeta (TMTA: news, msgs) is eyeing an upped price range of $16 to $19 per share for its 13 million share-IPO in a bid to raise about $228 million with Morgan Stanley Dean Witter.


The Silicon Valley firm is being hailed as one of the most eagerly-anticipated IPOs of the year, said Tom Frangione, a fund manager at Metamarkets.com who attended the IPO road show for Transmeta.


"They`ve got interesting technology," he said. "They`re not just another optical networking company. It`s almost like another Cisco, a company with a product that could change everything."


Transmeta is focusing on chips for mobile computing devices -- everything from pagers and cell phones to Internet appliances and hand-held computers. It`s also eyeing makers of Web servers for its chips, which employ the Linux operating system, he said.


Like other tech startups, though, Transmeta isn`t profitable.


It rang up $3.8 million in revenue and a loss of $72 million in the first nine months of the year vs. $76,000 in revenue and a loss of $28 million in the year-ago period.


Despite Nasdaq volatility and word last week it lost a deal to make chips for IBM, Transmeta bumped its price range up by 42 percent.



"It`s the perfect Silicon Valley IPO," said Kathy Smith, IPO analyst at the Renaissance Capital IPO fund (IPOSX: news, msgs).


Transmeta (TMTA: news, msgs) boosted its price range to $16-to-$19, up from $11-to-$13, on Friday.


Charles Rotblut of WallStreetCity.com said Transmeta is his pick out of the batch of IPOs this week.


The company`s Crusoe chip "is the first technological breakthrough in years that could threaten Intel`s (INTC: news, msgs) grip on the PC world," he said.


Transmeta has managed to win contracts from Sony, Hitachi, NEC, and Fujitsu.


Gateway and America Online are also co-developing an Internet appliance that uses Crusoe.


Last week, Transmeta announced the appointment of Cisco Systems, CFO Larry Carter as a member of its board of directors.


In April, Transmeta announced an $88 million round of funding from America Online, Compaq, First International Computer, Gateway, Phoenix Technologies, Samsung, Sony and Quanta Computer.

Other investors include George Soros, Paul Allen`s Vulcan Ventures, Van Wagoner Capital Management, Invemed Associates, Tudor Investment Corporation, Five Points Capital, and Deutsche Bank.


Irv DeGraw of WorldFinanceNet.com noted that the IPO market is picking up, but "the window is narrow . . .. Only strong deals in a limited number of sectors are expected to complete offerings."

TOKYO (Reuters) - U.S. microprocessor startup Transmeta Corp believes its technology is at least five years ahead of industry giants Intel (NasdaqNM:INTC - news) and Advanced Micro Devices (NYSE:AMD - news), its chief executive said on Tuesday.

The once-highly secretive Transmeta burst into the limelight in January when it unveiled its Crusoe chip which uses software to perform many functions previously done by hardware, enabling lighter PC notebooks with much longer battery life.

``For them to catch up, they would also need a software based approach. That means they would have to start from scratch and from my 20 years of experience, it would take at least five years to get a new microprocessor out the door,`` David Ditzel said in an interview.

Transmeta, which filed in mid-August for an initial public offering, is gaining in stature within the industry and on Wall Street as more and more firms unveil Crusoe-driven PC notebooks.

Crusoe Chip Catches On

The latest on Monday was Fujitsu Ltd (6702.T). It will use the Crusoe chip in two new notebooks due out in early November equipped with mobile Net capabilities and battery life of up to eight hours, double the standard length for most notebooks.

Sony Corp (6758.T) announced in August that it will use Transmeta`s microprocessor in some of its VAIO laptops.

Ditzel said Transmeta was talking to practically all makers of PC notebooks and industry sources say other Japanese firms are set to follow suit.

Hitachi Ltd (6501.T) is expected to unveil four Crusoe-based products on Wednesday -- three notebooks and a Web pad that is like a very large Palm Pilot but also has a virtual keyboard.

NEC Corp (6701.T) has also developed a laptop prototype with a Crusoe processor.

Transmeta`s technology is the first real competition the staid PC microprocessor market has seen in at least 15 years.

Both Intel, which this month rocked markets when it forecast third-quarter sales below Wall Street`s expectations, and AMD use the same chip architecture, called X-86, which is almost 25 years old.

Ditzel said, however, Transmeta`s strategy was to go after the ``two very big niche markets`` of chips for notebooks and Internet mobile devices and that Intel and AMD, strong in chips for desktops and servers, should not be worried about Transmeta.

``We are aiming to expand the market,`` he said.

Transmeta does not have its own manufacturing capacity and instead uses IBM`s facilities.

The fact has worried some analysts, but Ditzel said Transmeta`s strategy meant its financial commitments were lower and that it could concentrate on designing better chips.

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co (TSMC) (2330.TW) is another chip producer that Transmeta has talked with, although Ditzel stressed his company was very happy with the IBM arrangement.

am ersten börsentag bereits eine MK von 6 Milliarden US$ hat!!!!
bei einem Umsatz von fast gleich NULL!!!!

Wie soll man dich bei solch einer MK falsch verstehen ?

Dies ist auf jeden Fall eine ziemlich extreme Bewegung, die da im Moment passiert.
Ein bißchen erinnert mich der heutige Abend an frühere Emissionen vor ziemlich genau einem Jahr, z.B. mit dem Linux-Hype.
Man konnte bei VA Linux nur noch mit dem Kopf schütteln, damals war der 1. Kurs über 1000% über dem Ipo-Price, wenn ich micht recht entsinne.

Momentan scheinen einfach der Name Paul Allen oder Linus ordentlich zu ziehen.
