Was soll los sein?

Sowas nennt man "gesunde Korrektur!"

Airspan Announces New Range of 802.16 OFDM Products
Friday October 31, 10:01 am ET
AS4030 Point to Multipoint and AS3030 Point to Point Will Operate at 3.5GHz and 5.8GHz
BOCA RATON, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 31, 2003--Airspan Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq:AIRN - News), a leading worldwide provider of fixed broadband wireless DSL networks, announced today the launch of two new products, branded and marketed as AS4030 and AS3030. The new products will both complement deployments of Airspan`s existing suite of AS4020 and WipLL products, and will also allow the company to address the needs of a new set of customers and applications.
AS4030 is Airspan`s high-end point to multipoint (P-MP) product range that is ideally suited to operators wishing to offer service bundles to medium and large businesses, and to multi-tenant dwellings that require considerable bandwidth for their end users. It can also be configured for a wide range of backhaul applications, including the ability to backhaul traffic from the ever-increasing number of public Wi-Fi Hot Spots being deployed in markets globally. With its higher capacity, AS4030 will allow an operator to deliver dedicated IP connections to end customers at speeds of up to 45Mbit/s, or 1-4 E1/T1s or combinations of IP and E1/T1 services.
This product range will allow Airspan to compete for projects that require bandwidths not always available from earlier Airspan products, particularly in more developed markets where higher bandwidth is a major requirement of business users wishing to be connected to the Internet. It can also be deployed in a project alongside AS4020 equipment, allowing an operator to build a network capable of serving all market segments ranging from single homes requiring one voice or DSL-type line to large businesses or buildings with many lines and varying needs for data speeds, all on the single Airspan platform.
The latest AS4030 technology is based on robust 802.16 OFDM technology. It can therefore allow operators to provide service in both line-of-sight (LOS) and full non line-of-sight (NLOS) deployments, covering distances of up to 50 kilometers. This capability will allow operators to deploy the Airspan solution in dense urban environments where buildings and terrain often otherwise block or divert wireless signals. The product is also a full implementation of the new WiMAX 802.16 standard and delivers 5 bits/Hz over-the-air, setting new standards of spectral efficiency.
AS3030 is the point-to-point (P-P) version of AS4030 and delivers IP bit rates of up to 45Mbit/s, or 1-4 E1/T1s or a combination of IP and E1/T1 spans. AS3030 also uses OFDM technology, which enables NLOS P-P links of up to 10km as well as LOS links of up to 80km. In a P-P configuration, AS3030 will be able to backhaul traffic from a network that uses AS4020 or WipLL products, or from networks using 802.11 Wi-Fi technologies.
Paul Senior, Airspan`s vice president of marketing and product management said: "We are extremely excited about these new additions to our product range. Airspan now has a full portfolio, and can deliver broadband wireless P-MP and P-P solutions for every market segment served by an operator, ranging from large corporate customers to residential end-users. This allows Airspan to deliver complete access networks based only on wireless technology."
"The new AS4030 is designed to meet the WiMAX interoperable system profiles," Senior continued. "WiMAX, which was recently voted the Most Promising Technology of the Year by ZD Net, at the CNET UK Technology Awards ceremony, is gaining considerable momentum and acceptance by end-users and carriers alike."
Eric Stonestrom, Airspan`s CEO added: "The AS4030 and AS3030 product ranges improve Airspan`s ability to win high-end broadband wireless projects. We will immediately offer the products in key markets like China, North America, and Europe, generating incremental revenues there through our current sales channels. This new product range will give our existing 3.5GHz and 5.8GHz customers access to new applications and services sets, making the implementation and expansion of their networks entirely on our platforms both feasible and attractive."

Airspan Selects Intel Technology for
802.16 Product Development
Tuesday November 4, 8:37 am ET
BOCA RATON, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 4, 2003--Airspan Networks,
Inc. (Nasdaq:AIRN - News), a leading worldwide provider of fixed wireless
DSL networks, today announced it has reached an agreement with Intel
Corporation to produce WiMAX-Certified(TM) equipment built upon Intel
silicon. The agreement will give Airspan access to Intel`s broadband wireless
access technology conforming to the IEEE 802.16(a) standard. This access
will accelerate Airspan`s expansion of its 802.16 compliant product lines.
Airspan products based on this
technology are expected to
debut in the global marketplace
shortly after Intel releases its
802.16 compliant silicon solution,
which is currently targeted for
the middle of 2004.
Eric Stonestrom, president and
chief executive officer of Airspan
Networks, commented: "Airspan
is leading the charge on the
introduction of 802.16 products.
We plan an expansion of our
802.16 compliant product range
as the Intel technology becomes
available, and this agreement
will accelerate our own development. We believe that the efforts of the
WiMAX Forum(a) to establish interoperability of 802.16-compliant equipment
has the potential to further expand the addressable market for broadband
wireless access and we are proud to be working with Intel on leading edge
products. Network operators are increasingly attracted to these 802.16
initiatives as it broadens the range of products and applications that
effectively address the last mile."
Scott Richardson, general manager of the Intel Broadband Wireless Division,
said: "Commitment to the delivery of 802.16 compliant products is the first
step to achieving the promise of WiMAX, and we are pleased that Airspan
has selected Intel`s silicon platform for this important development. We
believe that standards and interoperability will ignite growth in the broadband
wireless market for both companies as well as the industry in the coming
years."
While broadband growth in the global market surged by more than 72 percent
in 2002, today less than five percent of subscribers around the world have
access to the Internet via a broadband connection. Airspan product initiatives
around this standardization platform are expected to provide additional
cost-effective solutions for network operators to get more users connected.
Using wireless access, operators can avoid costly investments in copper and
fiber networks.
Airspan`s arrangement with Intel complements its recent introduction of the
802.16-based AS4030 and AS3030 product lines, which can deliver high-end
IP and E1/T1 services to business and corporate users. Airspan will submit its
802.16 compliant products for WiMAX Certification once multi-vendor
solutions are available for interoperability testing.

Airspan Networks Announces Third Quarter Financial Results and Letter of Intent to Acquire Nortel Networks Fixed Wireless Access Business
Wednesday November 5, 4:01 pm ET
BOCA RATON, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 5, 2003--Airspan Networks Inc. (Nasdaq:AIRN - News) today announced third quarter financial results for the period ending September 28, 2003. The company reported revenues for the third quarter of $6.3 million. The net loss attributable to common stockholders for the third quarter of 2003 was $0.19 per share, versus a loss of $0.30 per share in the second quarter of 2003 and a loss of $0.14 per share in the third quarter of 2002.
Third quarter revenues were $6.3 million, compared to the $7.5 million recorded in the second quarter of 2003 and $9.0 million recorded in the third quarter of 2002. Gross profit for the third quarter was $0.6 million, or ten percent of revenue, compared to a gross loss of $2.6 million for the preceding quarter. The company recorded a gross profit of $2.5 million, or 28 percent of revenue, for the third quarter of 2002. Operating expenses for the third quarter 2003 totalled $7.8 million, compared to $8.9 million in the second quarter of 2003 and $8.1 million in the third quarter of 2002.
The company`s cash balance at the close of the third quarter 2003 stood at $36.6 million, of which $1.4 million was restricted cash. Total cash usage in the third quarter was approximately $3.2 million.
"The decline we saw in revenue in the third quarter was due to changed timing on several larger pending projects," said Eric Stonestrom, president and chief executive officer of Airspan. "Our third quarter revenues grew over the second quarter 2003 in Europe and the Americas, but fell in Africa. Revenues in Asia were flat compared to the second quarter 2003, with increased China revenues offsetting lower revenues from New Zealand due to project phasing there. The growth in the number of countries where we are selling WipLL, which is now available in a range of frequencies not matched by any competitor, also confirms the potential for this product line worldwide."
For the nine-month period ended September 28, 2003, revenue totalled $21.6 million versus $15.1 million in the corresponding period last year, an increase of 44 percent. Gross profit was 3 percent for the 2003 period and 9 percent for 2002, including provisions for inventory in both periods. Operating expenses totalled $25.5 million for the nine months of 2003 compared to $26.2 million for the corresponding period in 2002. Net loss for the first nine months of 2003 was $22.8 million, or $0.65 per share, compared with a net loss of $23.5 million, or $0.67 per share, for the same period in 2002.
"While the quarter revenues did not meet our expectations, we are pleased with the improvements in the business metrics we control directly," explained Peter Aronstam, chief financial officer. "Our inventory and receivables continue to fall. Our operating costs are also declining, as we continue to find efficiencies by reducing headcount. Operating expenses in the quarter were $1.1 million lower than the second quarter 2003. The improvements in working capital and operating expenses translate into the low cash burn we saw in the quarter. We expect to see further improvements in these metrics for the underlying business in the next quarter."
Eric Stonestrom continued, "The Company today announced plans to acquire Nortel Networks` fixed wireless business. We expect to close the deal in the fourth quarter. Upon closing, this acquisition will give us an additional substantial revenue base going forward as well as a relationship with one of the world`s largest fixed wireless operators. Our strategy to develop a profitable business will be strengthened by this acquisition. The combination of a modestly improving business for our current products together with the new revenue stream will provide a roadmap to profitability. Airspan is expecting revenue growth for 2003 year over year on a full year calendar basis, and the acquisition will have a significant effect on next year`s results. The fourth quarter revenues may or may not be impacted by this acquisition depending on timing of close, and we expect fourth quarter revenues from our existing businesses will be flat with the third quarter. As recently shown in our Intel announcement, we are also investing significant resources in the WiMAX initiative, which is expected to expand the addressable market further in the 2005 timeframe."

Na also geht doch.
