Goldfields meldet neue high-greade-Explorationsergebnisse im Metex JV

LAVERTON JV, WA (50%):

Four diamond core holes were drilled to test for high-grade,
underground potential beneath the existing Chatterbox Shear
resources. All holes intersected mineralisation, however only one
returned potentially economic values (7m at 9.4g/t Au from 257 metres
in GWD 23). This intersection is approximately 150 metres below the
previous drill base and is open along strike for 1km to the south and
200 metres to the north. Additional drilling is warranted.

LAVERTON REGION, WA:

Follow-up RC drilling at Sonex in the Abednego Hill JV (Goldfields
earning 80%) intersected 8m at 3.3g/t Au from 57 metres and 5m at
15.1g/t Au from 70 metres in ABC13. These intersections are 200
metres north-east along strike of high-grade values reported
previously. A diamond core hole drilled east of ABC13 intersected
1.6m at 1.6g/t Au approximately 100 metres below the above zones. A
detailed review will now be completed to determine the structural
controls on high-grade mineralisation.

welch frage darum brauchst du dich überhaupt nicht zu kümmern. scheint so, dass du noch nicht so lange mit aktien handelst.

in diesem fall, werden die kurse in australien festgelegt. die deutschen börsen passen den kurs nur jeweils an (eröffnungskurs, kassakurs und schlusskurs) - bei den meissten im ausland gehandelten aktien zumindest so. teilweise auch nur kassakurs.

wichtig: richte dich nach den kursen direkt in australien, da werden die kurse gemacht.

Alleine mit der 50/50 Beteiligung mit Goldfields
könnte der 3-fache Börsenwert wieder als Gewinn
hereinkommen und dann hat man ja noch viele andere
interessante Objekte.

Interessant dabei ist die grosse Gesellschaft (Goldfields)
trägt dabei das Risiko. Hier gibt es keine
Finanzierungsprobleme wie bei Climax
und die Gebiete liegen in Australien und nicht auf
irgend welchen Inseln, wo die Bevölkerung Kokusnüsse knackt.

LAVERTON EXPLORATION JOINT VENTURE - METEX 50%

The Laverton Exploration Joint Venture (LEJV) is a 50:50 joint
venture between Metex and Goldfields Ltd wholly owned subsidiary
Granny Smith Mines Ltd (GSM), and covers an area of approximately
450sqkm in the Laverton Tectonic Zone (see Figure 1). Metex is the
exploration manager for the joint venture and GSM the development
manager.

Metex retains 100% ownership of all other minerals apart from gold,
together with the Lancefield lease (M38/37) and contained gold
resources therein.

STATUS OF DEFINED GOLD RESOURCES

The total of oxide gold resources within the LEJV is 8.4 million
tonnes @ 2.3 g/t for approximately 620,000 ounces of gold (see
Appendix A). While the resource presently is not large enough to
develop on its own, the joint venture continued to pursue exploration
while at the same time negotiating with regional operators in the
area in an attempt to obtain value for the resources under its
control.

GRANNY SMITH AGREEMENT

The Granny Smith Agreement, between the LEJV and the owners and
operators of the nearby Granny Smith Mill, required the completion of
a feasibility study on the deposits within M38/101 and M38/535 prior
to the 31 December 2001. The study has not been completed within the
timeframe of the agreement. Currently Metex is negotiating new
arrangements with a view to enhancing the development and expansion
of these resources. These negotiations are yet to be concluded.

EXPLORATION

CHATTERBOX DEEPS

The deeper portions of the 5km mineralised strike length of the
Chatterbox Shear have only been superficially tested by a total of
seven drill holes to depths of not much more than 150 metres.

During the Quarter a new initiative involving the drilling of 4
diamond drill holes was completed to test a target of approximately
600-800,000 ounces to 500m vertical depth beneath the Chatterbox,

Hole GWD023 intersected fresh sulphide bearing primary mineralisation
below the defined supergene oxide deposit at Whisper (2.65 million
tonnes @ 2.5g/t for 214,000 ounces). GWD022 is located 1.4km to the
south and intersected a similar ore type below the supergene oxide
resource at Rumour (2.65 million tonnes @ 2.1g/t for 179,000 ounces).

The remaining two diamond drillholes tested the northern and southern
most zones of mineralisation at Whisper and Rumour respectively.
Although both holes intersected mineralisation, the widths
intersected were generally narrower as a result of the prospective
zones being extensively stoped out by porphry intrusives.

Following the receipt of these results a down hole IP survey was
completed on GWD023 to assist in targeting additional drillholes. The
results of the survey have successfully defined a discrete
polarisable body located south of the hole.

Further diamond drilling is planned to commence during the March
Quarter 2002. If the program successfully results in confirmation of
grades and widths of mineralisation similar to those intersected in
GWD023 then we anticipate that possibly more than 650,000 ounces of
gold may lie below Whisper to a vertical depth of 500m.

BASE METAL ASSESSMENT - NICKEL SULPHIDES

A review of historical exploration for nickel sulphides in the
Laverton area has been completed. Most of this exploration occurred
at the time of the Poseidon discovery at Mt Windarra. No programs
incorporating modern exploration techniques have been completed in
recent years over these prospective rocks.

During the Quarter 14 anomalies delineated during the airborne EM
survey flown in late 2000 were followed up with ground TEM surveys in
an attempt to locate massive nickel sulphide targets. Three of the
targets proved to be clearly defined excellent bedrock conductors and
a further one was a deeper, less well defined, but still excellent
bedrock conductor. All of the targets lie at or close to the
preferred footwall basal contact of the Redflag ultramafic, and as
such may be prospective for massive nickel sulphides.

RC drilling will be required to fully assess these targets and is
planned to commence in the current quarter. This evaluation will be a
100% Metex initiative as Metex retains rights for all other minerals
apart from gold within the LEJV.

WESTERN AUSTRALIAN PROJECTS

ROE

Delta Gold Exploration Pty Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of
Goldfields Ltd has a right to earn up to a 70% interest in the Roe
Project by expending a total of $1.5 million over a 5 year period.
During the Quarter at the Tiberius prospect, 14km southeast of
Carosue Dam, two mineralised trends have been partially defined
hosted by quartz-veined, Fe-rich (magnetite bearing) sediments. RAB
drilling intersected 8 metres at 1.5g/t from 7 metres to EOH and rock
chip sampling approximately 100 metres west delineated a 250 metre
long zone with up to 10 metres at 1.3g/t. An aeromagnetic geophysical
survey was also completed.

Follow up drilling is planned for the March Quarter.

VICTORIAN EXPLORATION

The Company together with LionOre International is in joint venture
with MPI Gold Pty Ltd ("MPI") and Pittston Mineral Ventures Australia
Pty Ltd ("Pittston") over its Byrneville/Wallup tenements (EL 3941)
to the north of one of Victoria`s premier goldfields at Stawell.

The Company, together with Lionore has agreed to convert their 25%
contributing interest to a 2% NSR royalty on all minerals produced
from the tenement.

CORPORATE

ELKEDRA DIAMONDS NL

* The $3.5 million Initial Public Offering (IPO) for Elkedra Diamonds
NL (ASX:EDN) closed oversubscribed. Metex holds 7.145 million shares
and 3.5 million options in Elkedra, representing 20.4% of the issued
capital on an undiluted basis, with a value of approximately $2
million at current prices.

* Elkedra was originally seed funded and sponsored by Metex, with the
dual purpose of allowing Metex shareholders exposure to commodities
other than gold, and where innovative exploration concepts such as
those adopted by Elkedra could lead to significant new world class
diamond discoveries.

* To date, Elkedra has identified 31 shallow-level aeromagnetic
anomalies from the government-released data. All anomalies have been
screened using a 100m-depth limit to magnetic source, and ground
verified to discard cultural sources. Additionally, 10 micro-diamonds
and one macro-diamond have been located within the tenement area.

ISSUED CAPITAL

* Total issued capital stands at 102,860,472 in fully paid ordinary
shares and 31,520,339, 20c options quoted on the Australian and
Berlin Stock Exchanges.

* Various unlisted options totalling 3,325,000 exercisable at 25 or
30 cents, remain on issue. These are predominantly employee options.

CASH POSITION

* The Company retains cash resources of approximately $726,000 as at
the end of the December Quarter,

Metex Resources Limited ("Metex") is pleased to announce that the
first hole (GWD025) of the current program to test the strike
extensions of deeper mineralisation previously intersected in GWD023
at Whisper has been completed and results returned. The remainder of
the program is underway and will be completed during April 2002.

This program of diamond drilling is being undertaken on behalf of the
Laverton Exploration Joint Venture ("LEJV") between Metex and
AurionGold Ltd (formerly Delta Gold/Goldfields).

GWD025 (29900N 33471E) declined 70 deg on a bearing 270 deg has
returned the following significant results:

Unlike GWD023 where mineralisatiun is within primary sulphide ore,
these intersections are almost entirely oxidised. The hole is
approximately 50m south and has a piercement point 50m above GWD023.
True widths are estimated to be approximately 70% of downhole widths.
Some core loss has occurred however this does not have a significant
bearing on the overall intervals quoted.

These results have opened up a significant strikelength of potential
mineralisation below Whisper that remains open to the south and down
dip.

LONDON, March 27 (Reuters) - European gold raced to its highest level in nearly two months on Wednesday, breaking above the key $300.00 a troy ounce mark on strong trade buying, setting the scene for further gains, traders said.

Spot bullion <XAU=> hit a session-best of $302.10 an ounce, gaining more than $5.00 from New York late trading levels on Tuesday to reach its highest point since February 11.

"There`s been good trade buying coming up to the end of the quarter and the funds are not selling...The buyers are taking the bull by the horns," said one London-based trader.

The surge in gold had a knock on effect on sister-metal silver <XAG=>, which moved to a high of $4.68 an ounce, its highest since January 11.

Gold last breached the important psychological level of $300.00 in February, amid jitters over the impact of the fall-out from the Enron scandal on U.S. equity markets, the ongoing U.S. and allied military campaign in Afghanistan and concerns over the robustness of the Japanese banking sector.

That rally was punctured by an announcement from Germany`s Bundesbank that it was considering selling some of its official gold reserves -- the second highest in the world after the United States -- for other financial instruments such as bonds.

Gold bulls have been betting on a move back above the $300.00 level, pointing to plateauing global mine production and the decision by leading miners such as South Africa`s AngloGold <ANGJ.J> to wind down their hedging activities which were seen as a brake on prices.

A fresh announcement last Monday by Bundesbank President Ernst Welteke that the bank would also considering selling part of its bullion reserves and reinvesting the proceeds in shares in addition to bonds failed to prevent gold`s upturn.

"Evidently there is a head of steam behind gold which has dismissed the Bundesbank comments. In former times that would have led to a $15 an ounce fall. Now it`s not wholly unrealistic for a move to $320-330 over the next week or two," said Ross Norman, analyst at TheBullionDesk.com.

Bullion`s gains were also helped as fund managers stepped back from selling ahead of finalising end-quarter trading books.

Platinum and palladium both lost modest ground in thin trading. Platinum <XPT=> was bid at $508.00/513.00 from late Tuesday New York levels of $508.00/515.00, while palladium was at $380.00/390.00 from $385.00/395.00.

LAVERTON DRILLING UPDATE AND NEW CARNARVON BASIN GOLD AND BASE METALS INITIATIVE




Metex Resources Limited (“Metex”) is pleased to announce that diamond drilling to test the strike extensions of deeper mineralisation previously intersected in GWDO23 at Whisper has commenced. The program will be completed during the second week of April 2002. 780m of RC (completed) and 655m of diamond drilling (underway) will be completed on behalf of the Laverton Exploration Joint Venture (“LEJV”) between Metex and AurionGold Ltd (formerly Delta Gold/Goldfields).

If this program successfully confirms grades and widths of mineralisation similar to those intersected in GWD023 (see attached diagram) a potential resource in excess of 650,000 ounces of gold may lie below Whisper to a vertical depth of 500m.

A program of 4 RC drillholes was completed on line 30200N and west of the Whisper deposit. These RC holes tested a prominent resistive and IP-chargeable geophysical anomaly in the ultramafic that forms the footwall at Whisper. The anomaly is interpreted to be a north northeast trending zone of 650m strike and 100m width. It is coincident with a local gravity high. Overlying Permian cover has prevented systematic drilling of this structurally complex zone in the past.

The drilling confirmed that the anomaly is consistent with the presence of altered granite. Two of the four holes returned mineralisation including 8m @1.84 g/t in composite samples (4m composites) in GWRC410. The presence of mineralisation in the footwall granite at Whisper, particularly where it exhibits strong evidence of both hematite and silica alteration is encouraging. Carnarvon Basin
The Company has recently applied for a total of 9 exploration licences covering approximately 1,500 square kilometres in the northern parts of the Carnarvon Basin. This has been undertaken as a joint regional reconnaissance initiative in association with a small private company (Boddington and Associates). Metex will be the tenement holder and can acquire a 100% interest by meeting certain performance hurdles over a five year period.

The tenements in the Winning Pool – Minilya area cover an area where recently released geochemical data collected by the Geological Survey of Western Australia highlights a series of anomalous responses close to a significant structure known as the Cardabia Tranfer Zone. Reconnaissance sampling has returned anomalous results for gold, arsenic silver, copper, lead, platinum and tellurium. The target being sought is potentially an epithermal gold system similar to those thought to exist close to the Darling Scarp in the southern part of the state.

The landform of the area under application is extensively covered by sand dunes and consequently very little prospecting has been completed. The application of modern day exploration techniques involving airborne magnetics and satellite imagery are expected to greatly assist in defining the presence of prospective structures beneath this wind blown cover.

WHISPER DIAMOND DRILLING – RESULTS FOR GWD025

Metex Resources Limited (“Metex”) is pleased to announce that the first hole (GWD025) of the current program to test the strike extensions of deeper mineralisation previously intersected in GWD023 at Whisper has been completed and results returned. The remainder of the program is underway and will be completed during April 2002.

This program of diamond drilling is being undertaken on behalf of the Laverton Exploration Joint Venture (“LEJV”) between Metex and AurionGold Ltd (formerly Delta Gold/Goldfields).

GWD025 (29900N 33471E) declined 700 on a bearing 2700 has returned the following significant results:

Unlike GWD023 where mineralisation is within primary sulphide ore, these intersections are almost entirely oxidised. The hole is approximately 50m south and has a piercement point 50m above GWD023. True widths are estimated to be approximately 70% of downhole widths. Some core loss has occurred however this does not have a significant bearing on the overall intervals quoted.

These results have opened up a significant strike-length of potential mineralisation below Whisper that remains open to the south and down dip.

LAVERTON EXPLORATION - DIAMOND DRILLING CONTINUES

Metex Resources Limited ("Metex") is pleased to announce that further
diamond drilling will commence to test the presence of supergene
mineralisation intersected in GWD025 below the currently defined
Whisper Resource (2.65 million tonnes at 2.5g/t for 214,000 ounces).

GWD025 (see attached Figure) was drilled with the objective to test
the mineralised horizon at 180m vertical depth, in fresh rock, but in
fact intersected an entirely oxidised Chatterbox sequence. The
excellent results returned (a total of 56m @ 2.92 g/t between 167-
223m) are significant in that this is the first time that supergene
mineralisation has been recognised close to the oxide-fresh bedrock
interface. Should this style of mineralisation be present throughout
the entire mineralised strike length it has the potential to
significantly improve the economics of the Whisper resource-

Diamond drilling is expected to commence in the second week of June
and will continue for the remainder of the month. This program is
being undertaken on behalf of the Laverton Exploration Joint Venture
("LEJV") between Metex (50%) and AurionGold Ltd (50%).

LANCEFIELD (M38/37 - METEX 100%) - LEJV REVIEW

Exploration on this lease has been restricted in recent years as a
consequence of the lease not being within the LEJV. It includes the
historical Lancefield underground mine that has produced in excess of
1.3 million ounces of gold, and has long been recognized as an
attractive "brownfields" exploration site.

The Company has concluded that the LEJV should have priority in the
assessment of this tenement. The LEJV will commence a review of all
historical data. The objective of this review is to identify targets
within M38/37 likely to contain the necessary gold endowment that
will enable the LEJV to pursue its intention to develop the
Chatterbox deposits.

The initial priority will be the Slaughter Yard Shear where a single
RC drillhole completed during 1999 returned the following significant
results:
