Samsung Electronics Goes into Mass Production of World`s Fastest Memory for Multimedia Applications
SEOUL, South Korea--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 24, 2005--Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., the world leader in advanced memory technology, today announced that it has begun mass producing 256Mb XDR(TM) (for "eXtreme Data Rate") DRAM, a next-generation memory device for multimedia applications. The new memory targets applications that require the ability to process high-quality video, such as the latest game consoles, digital TVs, servers and workstations.
The Samsung 256Mb XDR has an Octal Data Rate process that transfers data at eight bits per clock cycle, while cranking up the transfer speed to an industry-leading eight gigabytes per second. That speed is 10 times faster than DDR 400 memory and five times faster than RDRAM(TM) (PC800). To transfer data in a stable manner at the extremely high speeds, Samsung is using Differential Rambus(R) Signal Level (DRSL) technology.
"XDR technology has tremendous potential to become a leading memory solution for today`s highest-performance multimedia applications and we`re quite enthusiastic about its prospects," said Mueez Deen, marketing director, graphics memory, Samsung Semiconductor.
Samsung plans to introduce a 512Mb XDR DRAM, capable of transferring data as fast as 12.8 gigabytes per second, during the first half of this year. With the introduction of yet another leading edge DRAM technology, the company adds to its leadership position in the high-performance DRAM market.
The market analysis firm, IDC, predicts that the XDR DRAM market will grow steadily, beginning in 2005, with global shipments exceeding 800 million 256Mbit-equivalent units by 2009.

ja think positive! klare kaufkurse auf der einen, börsenweisheiten wie " never catch a falling knife " auf der anderen seite. es juckt in den fingern noch mal einen auftrag an den broker zu geben, blos bin ich dann auf dem besten weg rambus in meinem depot noch mehr an übergewichtung zu gönnen... wobei das dann in der kursanstiegsphase klar von vorteil ist 
Endlich wieder Kaufkurse.
Ist doch schön nochmal sein Depot günstig mit
weiteren RAMBUS Aktion zu vergrößern.
Bin jetzt seit 1999 dabei und ich werde weitere

XDR ist meines Wissens nicht in der Flatrate von Samsung enthalten. Wäre auch nicht logisch, da XDR nichts mit DDR zu tun hat. Auf RDRAM haben die auch keine "Flatrate". Wenn Samsung in die Massenproduktion einsteigt, werden hier auf jeden Fall Royalties für Rambus generiert.

Den jetzigen Rambuskurs sehe ich, so bitter wie es auch für mein Depot ist, als eine Kaufgelegenheit an.
Die "gerichtliche" Zukunft sehe ich für Rambus äußerst positiv:
- Judge White hat eindeutige Patentverletzungen festgestellt; für sein SJ hat er sich sehr viel Zeit genommen, woraus ich schließe, daß diese Entscheidungen "kugelsicher" sind und nicht gekippt werden können.
- Daß "prior art" für jedes einzelne der 4 Patente des SJ festgestellt werden kann, ist extrem unwahrscheinlich. Sonst wären entsprechende Argumente schon bekannt.
- Betrug wegen vorsätzlicher Dokumentenvernichtung scheidet für mich gänzlich aus. Rambus hat lange vor Beginn der Prozesse nur Dokumente auf anwaltlichen Rat hin vernichtet. Vorsätzlich scheidet somit schon mal aus. Rambus war auch schlau genug keinerlei Aufzeichnungen nach Beginn der Prozesse zu vernichten. Danforth hat auf der letzten CC auch das eindeutige Statement "there is no spoliation" abgegeben. Ich glaube ihm. Solch eine Aussage wäre absoluter Selbstmord. Es würde eine Lawine von Aktionärsklagen geradezu heraufbeschwören. Warum sollte er sich das antun?
- Payne hat in dem bisherigen Verfahren wohl schon etliche Formfehler begangen, daß ein Widerspruchsverfahren unausweichlich ist. Daß er Termine wieder verschoben hat spricht für mich eindeutig dafür, daß er noch nicht die "smoking gun" in den geschützten Dokumenten von Rambus gefunden hat. Reine Verzögerung, in der Hoffnung doch noch was zu finden, oder zumindest zu konstruieren um nicht als Vollidiot dazustehen.
- Für Hynix sieht`s sehr düster aus. Der letzte Strohalm ist die Ungültigkeit bzw. Nicht-Durchsetzbarkeit der Patente wegen Betrugs oder "prior art". Das Argument, sie hätten nichts von den Rambus-Patenten gewußt, bzw. keine Vorstellung davon gehabt, daß diese auch auf SDRAM und DDR sich erstrecken, ist lachhaft, wenn man die eMails von Tabrizi liest. Whyte läßt sich nicht verarschen und wird Hynix für schuldig erklären. Dann heisst es für Hynix erstmal zahlen, bzw Cash hinterlegen, wenn die in eine aussichtslose Berufung gehen wollen.
Eine mögliche Einigung steht immer noch im Raum. Gepokert wird bis zum Schluß. Kann jederzeit einschlagen und dann haben wir Rambus kurzfristig wieder dreistellig. Wenn keine Einigung kommt, dann wird Hynix noch dieses Jahr Cash zusammenkratzen müssen um in 2 Jahren alles an Rambus zu verlieren.

Im Prinzip gut. Die Frage ist, was für Royalties zahlen die für XDR ? Ohne einen gewonnenen Prozeß müßen die ja nur einen Schmarrn zahlen. Oder ist XDR davon ausgenommen?

ich denke die Vorzeichen stehen für die Aktie sehr gut und unsere Entlohnung wird kommen.
Diese (unsere) Aktie ist schon etwas besonderes. Viele von uns sind schon einige Jahre dabei und
von der Firma überzeugt. Aus anderen Werten steigt man einfach aus, wenn der Gewinn ausbleibt oder
sogar Verlust droht. Hier ist es sowas ähnliches wie wenn man seit Jahren die gleichen Zahlen beim
Lotto spielt, man kann einfach nicht mehr aufhören weil man befürchtet, daß dann diese Zahlen gezogen
werden. Ich habe zu große Angst meinen Enkeln in 30 Jahren sagen zu müssen: "Ja Kinder, Rambus-Aktien
hat der Opa auch mal gehabt." "So?" Sagen die Enkel "dann bist Du ja reich, immerhin kostet heute
die Aktie 500 EUR, nach dem 7ten 1 zu 10 Split" Und ich muß sagen: "Nicht ganz, meine Kinder. Ich habe
im Jahre 2005 die Papiere für 15 EUR abgegeben." Was sollen sie von mir halten? Wie auch immer: Ich
bin ein Long und kann jetzt auch noch ein paar Jahre ausharren.

Das ist ein gefundenes Fressen für die Shorties, die bei schlechtem Marktumfeld den Kurs dahin treiben, wo das KGV Sinn macht. Alle Phantasie ist erstmal bis auf weiteres (und das kann bis 2008 dauern) ausgeblendet.

Letzte Woche konnte man ja sagen, der Kurs haut wegen den Optionen nicht hin, das ihn die Marketmaker runterdrücken.Aber bitte was ist heute los??????? Wir hatten 36 Dollar bei der ersten Ftc Entscheidung, soviel positives ist passiert und jetzt das. Sell on good News?

(Nasdaq:RMBS) announced that its patent infringement case against Micron Technology will continue in the District Court of Milan following the conclusion of preliminary proceedings in Monza. The Monza Court judge, overruling the findings of the court-appointed, independent experts, declined to grant Rambus a preliminary injunction. The court-appointed experts confirmed the validity of the Rambus patent in suit and determined that Micron’s SDRAM products infringe the Rambus patent. Dr. Paolo Stucovitz and Dr. Giorgio Crovini, both members of the Roll of the Intellectual Property Attorneys and degreed engineers, were appointed as the technical experts by the Monza Court. Their technical examinations lasted over five months encompassing all pertinent prior art information and potential infringement of the Rambus patent by the Micron SDRAM products . Their exhaustive report concludes that Micron’s SDRAM memory devices fall within the scope of the Rambus patent.

(Nasdaq:RMBS) announced that its patent infringement case against Micron Technology will continue in the District Court of Milan following the conclusion of preliminary proceedings in Monza. The Monza Court judge, overruling the findings of the court-appointed, independent experts, declined to grant Rambus a preliminary injunction. The court-appointed experts confirmed the validity of the Rambus patent in suit and determined that Micron’s SDRAM products infringe the Rambus patent. Dr. Paolo Stucovitz and Dr. Giorgio Crovini, both members of the Roll of the Intellectual Property Attorneys and degreed engineers, were appointed as the technical experts by the Monza Court. Their technical examinations lasted over five months encompassing all pertinent prior art information and potential infringement of the Rambus patent by the Micron SDRAM products . Their exhaustive report concludes that Micron’s SDRAM memory devices fall within the scope of the Rambus patent.
