Donald Trump Coal Mining Rare Earth Elements Comes China Appalachia
      Oder wie in der Überschrift:
Trump Energy Dept. Seeks to Mine Elements Monopolized By China

      Ins US Government.

      >> The Energy Department said it will invest nearly $7 million into researching ways to mine and produce these elements in the United States.<<
      JEFF GREEN:
Jack [Lifton], I always enjoy your stuff, but I must respectfully challenge the “Congress dithers” comment. From where do you think that DOE funding came? Answer – Congress directed them to move forward with this particular investment. It is largely from this political pressure that we’re seeing a renewed interest in doing something about the rare earth issue and investing in U.S. manufacturing competitiveness.

JL: Alain Leveque, who actually did the chemistry for Solvay’s LaRochelle plant in France, said to me, "Jack, we finished construction 47 years ago. From the time we figured out how to separate all the rare earths to the time when we actually made a four-9 oxide was ten years." This was Rhône-Poulenc, which was a 100-year old French chemistry company at the time. The scientists behind the company were not thinking "how can I make a lot of money?" They actually were thinking "How can I do good chemistry?" Obviously, that would be very unamerican today.

JL: This same problem appeared with Molycorp: they spent $1.3B building Project Phoenix and it never produced any spec material. They announced that they produced 5,000 tonnes in their last year, but 4,000 of that went to Xebo in China, the Neo Materials separation facility, to be re-processed because it didn’t meet customer specs. The remaining 1,000 tonnes went to Estonia to be reworked because the Japanese wouldn’t accept it.

JL: I have a lot of respect for Alain and I try to honour him by referring to the "Leveque Principle" that it takes longer than you think to figure out solvent extraction for rare earths.

      Apropos Jack Lifton:
Jack Lifton is a Founding Principal of Technology Metals Research, LLC.
      http://www.techmetalsresearch.com/about-us/jack-lifton/
Bei TMR ist Liftons Partner Gareth Hatch, ebenfalls Founding Principal of Technology Metals Research, LLC.
Gareth is also a co-founder of Innovation Metals Corp, developer of the proprietary Rapid SX™ process for the separation and purification of rare earths and other metals.
      http://www.techmetalsresearch.com/about-us/gareth-hatch/
In 2014, IMC joined a $1.2M REE supply-chain development program, which was led by Technology Metals Research, LLC (TMR) and funded by the US Army Research Laboratory (ARL), part of the US Department of Defense. The Principal Investigator of the program was Gareth Hatch, President of IMC and co-founder of TMR.
The program enabled IMC to construct and to operate a lab-scale pilot plant, with 130 mixer-settler units for conventional SX of REEs, focused on the much sought-after heavy REEs. hosted at the facilities of Process Research Ortech Inc. (PRO) in Mississauga, Ontario. The pilot plant was also used to validate computer modeling tools for the simulation of REE SX circuits.
      http://www.innovationmetals.com/rare-earth-separation/
Und eben diese IMC haben auch Ashram Samples erbeten, um damit ihre fürs USDoD entwickelten Modeling Tools for the simulation of REE SX circuits zu testen und die Ergebnisse wandern direkt ins USDoD.

      Chris Grove

The U.S. might easily outgun China, but China produces about 90% of the world’s rare earths. They’re essential to several defence needs, “a fact that really drives certain people in the U.S. absolutely apoplectic,” says Grove.

While Westerners have struggled to compete with China on costs, prices mean little to the U.S. Department of Defense, which last year began putting money behind potential domestic processors, Grove says.

Mike commenting on the Ucore Deal and Feedstock from Ashram

      PostPosted: Mon Jun 19, 2017 1:20 pm

I spoke with the prez of Commerce this morning to discuss some of the updates going on for the company. The deal with Ucore is of interest because its one more iron in the fire for a reputable REE company that validates the potential at Ashram. However, the more important news item was the fact that CCE is the only REE junior that has ever been able to generate a concentrate from its discovery project. The reason some of the big industry names are lining up to test sample material is because despite having several dozen players in this subsector, no other company has been able to achieve the state to where CCE has advanced Ashram.

The next step for the company is to attract a large enough player to write a cheque that will carry the project through to a BKS. With that in hand, they can approach a bank for significant debt to enable development. Or, they will have a study in hand that can demonstrate positive economics that will allow a senior partner to act and pay for a mine development.

The second interesting tidbit to come from our discussion is that lower iron ore production in China has also meant that less tailings are being produced, and most of the REE produced comes from iron ore tailings. The threat of lower output has generated a rising price trend for the REEs and that tailwind will help attract more interest to advanced deposits like Ashram. In a nutshell, CCE will have an easier time getting funding and bringing potential partners to the table now, as it appears the REE prices have bottomed and the pendulum is now swinging back towards scarcity of supply.

I have known Chris Grove for many years. He is a easy to talk to and very knowledgeable. I would recommend any shareholders or potential investors to call him with questions as he is a great source of info. CCE has been a paid advertiser on this website for a long time, and I am a shareholder.

      cheers!
      mike
