Melkior Resources Inc.: New Claims in Otish
OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - April 4, 2007) - Melkior Resources Inc. (TSX VENTURE:MKR) announces that it has mapped staked 167 claims totaling approximately 8700 hectares in the Otish region of north central Quebec. The claims are located approximately 30 kilometres north west of the Otish basin which is actively being explored for uranium. The new claims adjoin the MacLeod Lake molybdenum-copper property of Western Troy Capital Resources Inc. where Western Troy has recently announced a 2000 metre drill campaign.
Melkior originally staked most of these same claims in 2001 for kimberlite diamond exploration. An airborne survey was undertaken and a number of isolated bulls-eye magnetic targets were identified. Inadequate funding at the time prevented detailed ground follow-up and the original claims were allowed to lapse. The Otish area has now developed into a new, very active exploration area where Stornoway (Ashton)-Soquem are successfully exploring for diamonds, Eastmain Resources has acquired the Eastmain gold deposit and significant uranium mineralization is being discovered by Strateco and others. Road access into the area is being discussed by various operators and authorities.
The larger Otish area is now being recognized as a multi-mineral environment with a potential for uranium, diamonds, gold, molybdenum, copper etc.
Activity by others in the area has prompted Melkior to re-examine its database and stake the new claims for the potential of locating molybdenum, gold, copper and kimberlite.
Melkior intends to continue adding to its property situation in areas where it is already active including the Otish, Timmins and Launay.
