11/06/2008
03:56:57
Australian Treasurer Wayne Swan has described as a breakthrough the announcement that banking institutions in China now have permission to invest in Australia.
Speaking from Beijing Mr Swan says the deal will create new opportunities for Australia's fund management industry to provide services to Chinese investors.
He says he expects the move to be welcomed by Australia's financial sector.
"Funds can now flow from the Chinese banking system into capital markets in Australia and into funds management. We don't know what the total amount of money will be but I know that it is a measure which has been welcomed by the financial services industry quite strongly at home."

"MUU changed their AIM broker to Fairfax mid Apr. These guys have a very highly regarded resource team. MUU were looking for more traction on AIM and it looks to me like Fairfax has delivered. Volumes in London have been on the increase and likely new investors on the register. There may well be news on the horizon but the likely cause of this initial move higher is new investors getting set. The Oz mkt has followed the lead of London for once".

PERTH, 25 June 2008 - Australian-based international uranium exploration company, Murchison United NL (ASX: MUR, AIM: MUU), is pleased to announce that it has executed a wide-ranging Cooperation Agreement with the French-based multinational industrial and nuclear energy giant, Areva NC ("Areva"), to accelerate the exploration and development of its portfolio of uranium projects in Mauritania, West Africa.
The agreement encompasses a strategic investment in Murchison, access to Areva's extensive uranium database in Mauritania, technical cooperation and support from the French-based company There is also an agreement to establish a Joint Venture between Murchison and Areva if the exploration programme is successful in identifying a minimum of 60m lbs of JORC Code compliant inferred uranium resources, agreed between the parties, within the next two years. The 60m lbs of JORC Code compliant inferred uranium resources is only an indicative target and there is no assurance that it will be identified.
The agreement represents a significant endorsement of Murchison's uranium exploration assets and strategy in Mauritania, in particular its rapidly emerging Bir En Nar Project, located in the northern Zednes Region, where it has reported outstanding exploration results over the past 12 months.
It caps a successful 18 months for Murchison, during which it has repositioned as a West African-focused uranium explorer with over 15,000km2 of prospective tenure in Mauritania and Guinea.
Cooperation Agreement
The agreement between Murchison and Areva lays the foundations for a long-term strategic alliance to accelerate the exploration, evaluation and development of Murchison's extensive uranium portfolio in Mauritania -which is covered by Areva's detailed historical uranium database.
The key components are:
# AN AGREEMENT FOR AREVA TO SUBSCRIBE FOR 19,009,131 SHARES, BEING 5% OF MURCHISON'S ISSUED CAPITAL AT A
subscription price of A$ 0.135, equal to the 8-week Volume Weighted Average Price of Murchison's shares preceding the
announcement date;
# THE GRANTING TO MURCHISON OF RIGHTS TO ACCESS AND UTILISE AREVA'S EXTENSIVE GEOLOGICAL DATABASE COVERING THE
Republic of Mauritania including Murchison's tenement holdings, and the provision by Areva of equipment, technical
services and personnel to assist in accelerating Murchison's current exploration programs. The consideration for this
will be the issue to Areva of shares equivalent to a further 10% stake in the Company. This will result in a further
39,919,175 new Murchison shares being issued to Areva.
# AN AGREEMENT TO ESTABLISH A JOINT VENTURE BETWEEN AREVA AND MURCHISON IF EXPLORATION DURING THE 2-YEAR PERIOD
after signing the agreement delineates a minimum of 60m lbs of uranium JORC inferred Resources;
# IT IS ENVISAGED THAT AREVA WOULD EARN AN INITIAL INTEREST IN THE JOINT VENTURE ON COMMERCIAL TERMS PREVAILING
at the time based on internal valuation and market valuations and would be able to increase this stake during the pre-
feasibility phase and with the opportunity to eventually increase its interest to 100% at exploitation time on
commercial terms prevailing ;
# AREVA WILL ALSO HAVE THE OPTION TO ACQUIRE 100% MARKETING RIGHTS ON ANY FUTURE PRODUCTION FROM THE JOINT
Venture tenements.
Under the proposed Joint Venture arrangements, it is envisaged that Areva will conduct the pre-feasibility and feasibility studies and become the operator of any future mining operation. Therefore, Areva is committed from the agreement to stay involved in the project for a minimum of 2 years, corresponding to the exploration phase.
The placing of shares in Murchison with Areva in consideration for the database access and provision for technical services may require the approval of existing Murchison shareholders. If so, the Company will convene an Extraordinary General Meeting to obtain this approval as soon as practicable.
About Murchison United
Murchison United NL is an Australian-based company whose principal activity is minerals exploration. The company currently has uranium exploration projects in Mauritania and Guinea in West Africa and copper interests in the Millennium copper leases in Cloncurry, Queensland and the Maroochydore copper project in Western Australia.
Murchison has secured an extensive portfolio of uranium exploration projects comprising some 15,400km2 of highly prospective tenements in Mauritania and Guinea, West Africa. Its objective is to delineate significant new uranium deposits within these under-explored terrains.
The Company recently confirmed the significant potential and prospectivity of the Bir En Nar Project in Mauritania, after announcing final downhole radiometric logging results, including further significant high-grade results from its recently completed maiden RC drilling program.
26 of the 38 holes tested returned intercepts calculated at greater than 1,000ppm eU3O8. Seven holes contained intercepts exceeding 5,000ppm eU3O8, with a maximum intercept of 1.55m at 18,280ppm eU3O8. Murchison considers these results to be very encouraging and confirm the prospectivity for uranium mineralisation.
The Bir En Nar prospect is a 900 metre long radioactive zone extending 50-70 metres in width and following a tectonic structure in a NW-SE direction. A smaller parallel zone occurs a few hundred metres to the SW.
The permit areas are located in the north of the country near the town of Bir Moghrein and at Bir En Nar in Zednes region. These were originally identified by the Company's Technical Director, Mr Bosse Gustafsson, from a study commissioned by the World Bank and further refined from aeroradiometric data highlighting the region's prospectivity for uranium occurrences.

In Guinea, the Company is scheduled to conduct a follow-up 5,000m diamond drilling program at Firawa prospect in Guinea, in September 2008 following the wet season, targeting a JORC compliant resource estimate to follow up initial drilling carried out in 2007. Encouraging results of up to 1,325ppm U3O8 were returned from drilling at Firawa last year.
Commenting on the announcement, Murchison United's Managing Director, Mr Mark Reilly, said: "We are delighted to announce this landmark agreement with Areva, which represents the most significant development in Murchison's recent history and a key turning point for the Company."
"Importantly, the agreement will give us access to Areva's extensive database on uranium mineralisation in Mauritania as well as the support of an experienced and fully equipped Areva technical team including an Exploration Project Manager, Resource & Reserves Manager and drilling expert," Mr Reilly continued.
"Areva's corporate predecessors have undertaken a significant amount of historical exploration activity in Mauritania, including over our tenements, and their extensive database contains a vast amount of invaluable information on our exploration projects and other uranium prospects in the country.
"This will give us the additional technical capacity to really step up exploration activities with a view to delineating a substantial JORC Code compliant resource, initially at Bir En Nar, possibly during the second half of this year," he added.
"Areva is a leading global expert in nuclear energy and a major global multinational corporation," Mr Reilly continued. "We are truly delighted to have secured their involvement in our West African uranium exploration activities, which represents a major endorsement of the quality of our projects and our team, and a vindication of the strategic direction we have taken over the past two years.
"Importantly, Areva has the technical capacity and funding capabilities to rapidly advance and bring new uranium projects into production, and this will prove to be a major advantage for Murchison moving forward," he added.
Following the Cooperation Agreement, Murchison also confirmed today that it intended to announce a proposed change of name shortly to more accurately reflect its focus as an emerging West African uranium company.

The information in this report that relates to exploration results in West Africa is based on information compiled by Mr. Bosse Gustafsson, who is a member of the European Federation of Geologists a Recognised Overseas Professional Organisation ("ROPO"). Mr Bosse Gustafsson is a full time Technical Director of Murchison United NL and is responsible for exploration activities in Mauritania and Guinea. Mr Gustafsson has sufficient experience, which is relevant to the style of mineralisation and the type of deposit under consideration and to the activity, which he is undertaking to qualify as a Competent Person as defined in the 2004 Edition of the 'Australian Code for Reporting of Exploration Results, Mineral Resources and Ore Reserve'. Mr Gustafsson consents to the inclusion in this report of the matters based on their information in the form and context in which it appears.
Down hole gamma logging/probing of drill holes provides a powerful tool for uranium companies to explore for, and evaluate, uranium deposits. Such a method measures the natural gamma rays emitted from material surrounding a drill hole out to around 0.5 metre from its centre - the gamma probe is therefore capable of sampling a much larger volume than that which would normally be recovered from a core or RC hole. These measurements are used to estimate uranium concentrations with the commonly accepted initial assumption being that the uranium is in (secular) equilibrium with its daughter products (or radio-nuclides) which are the principal gamma emitters. If uranium is not in equilibrium (viz. in disequilibrium) - as a result of the redistribution (depletion or enhancement) of uranium and/or its daughter products - then the true uranium concentration in the holes logged using the gamma probe will be higher or lower than those reported in the announcement.
Total count gamma logging does not account for energy derived from thorium and potassium but is calibrated on the uranium band and factor applied to account for the average effect of thorium and potassium and thus the result is expressed as an equivalent value or ppm eU308. The logging programme was undertaken by Poseidon Geophysics (Pty) Ltd utilising an Auslog Logging System using instruments calibrated at Pelindaba, South Africa, an IAEA accepted and approved standard facility. Data was converted from raw counts per second of natural gamma rays to eU3O8 using the calibration constant obtained from measurements made at the Pelindaba calibration borehole. Poseidon Geophysics carried out regular checks to validate the accuracy of probe data using a test hole, BNR14, located on site. Uranium mineralisation grades through this report annotated with a sub-prefix 'e' have been reported as uranium equivalent grades derived from down-hole gamma ray logging results and should be regarded as approximations only.

Militärputsch in Mauretanien
Maroochydore Copper Project Scoping Study Update
__________________________________________________________________________________
Murchison United NL ('Murchison') (ASX: MUR, AIM: MUU) advises that it has received notification of the
results of a Scoping Study carried out by its 50% joint venture partner, Aditya Birla Minerals Ltd (ASX:
ABY), in relation to the Maroochydore Copper Project, located near Telfer in Western Australia. Aditya
Birla Minerals is operator of the Maroochydore Project.
While the Scoping Study resulted in a reduction in the JORC Code compliant resource for the Maroochydore
Project and concluded that the Project is unlikely to support a financially viable mining operation in its
current form, it did also highlight several areas requiring additional work.
Encouraging outcomes in these areas, including metallurgy, resource size, capital costs and synergies with
the nearby Nifty Copper Mine, also owned by Aditya Birla Minerals, would have a positive impact on project
economics.
Details of the revised resource estimate and Scoping Study results are contained in the attached
announcement from Aditya Birla Minerals.
While Murchison continues to work with Adity Birla Minerals to advance the Maroochydore Project, the
Company remains focussed primarily on the exploration and development of its portfolio of uranium projects
in West Africa as the basis for development of a substantial long-term uranium business.
This strategy received a major boost recently with the announcement of a wide-ranging Cooperation Agreement
with the French-based multinational industrial and nuclear energy giant, Areva NC, covering the Company's
Exploration Licences in Mauritania, West Africa.

Dear Sir,
MAROOCHYDORE SCOPING STUDY AND UPDATED RESOURCE ESTIMATE
Aditya Birla Minerals Ltd (ASX:ABY) and Murchison United NL (ASX:MUR and AIM:MUU) are 50/50 Joint Ventures
partners in the Maroochydore copper project. The project is located south west of the Aditya Birla Minerals
Ltd owned Nifty copper operation and is one of Australia's largest undeveloped copper projects.
Aditya Birla Minerals Ltd (JV operator) presents the following:
1) Updated Resource Estimate
The Maroochydore resource estimate was re calculated in the light of a thorough technical review. The
updated resource figures are:
Tonnes (Mt) Cu% Co%
Measured - - -
Indicated 36.7 0.8 0.04
Inferred 4.5 0.7 0.04
Total 41.2 0.8 0.04
Table 1: Maroochydore resource estimate 2008 (100% basis). Calculated at a 0.5% copper cut-off.
The net effect of the new resource estimation is a reduction in both tonnes and grade (see Table 2). The

technique used by previous operators was not considered to be appropriate for the style of mineralisation

2) Scoping Study Results
The Maroochydore JV engaged Hatch Associates Pty Limited to undertake a scoping study for the project. The
scope of works included, but was not limited to:
* Review geological data.
* Generate conceptual mine plan and costing for the project.
* Metallurgical review of previous studies and existing test work.
* Develop Conceptual Design Criteria and Process Flow Sheets.
* Develop Conceptual Equipment Sizing.
* Develop Order of Magnitude Capital and Operating Costs
* Financial Analysis
* Recommendations for future work
The results of the scoping study demonstrate that the Maroochydore project is unlikely to support a
financially viable mining operation in its current form. However, there are areas which require additional
work and encouraging outcomes would have a positive impact on the project economics. Further planned work
includes:
1) Metallurgy - the deposit is complex and the project is hampered by very poor recoveries. Recent
advances in oxide floatation technology could result in a significant increase in recoveries. A series of
metallurgical tests are planned to be under taken to test the response of Maroochydore mineralisation.
2) Resource Size - the project lacks the tonnage to support a capitally efficient operation and
exploration work will now focus on expanding the limits of the known deposit. Furthermore, regional work
will follow up on positive historical drill results and conceptual work aimed at identifying possible
sulphide mineralisation will be undertaken.
3) Capital Costs and Nifty Synergies - worldwide mining cost pressures have resulted in project CAPEX
estimates been significantly higher than expectations. A review of capital costs will be undertaken and
synergies with the nearby Nifty operation will be further explored.
The information in this report which relates to the Mineral Resource for the Maroochydore project is based
on and accurately reflects reports prepared by Mr Geoff Bullen (MAIG). Mr Bullen has the necessary
experience relevant to the style of mineralisation, the type of deposit and the activity undertaken to
qualify as a 'Competent Person' under the JORC Code for Reporting of Mineral Resources and Ore Reserves
(2004 Edition). Mr Bullen has given his consent to the inclusion of the material in the form and context
in which it appears. Mr Bullen is an employee of Aditya Birla Minerals Ltd.

For further information regarding this announcement, please call Mark Reilly.

Dear Sir,
MAROOCHYDORE SCOPING STUDY AND UPDATED RESOURCE ESTIMATE
The
single reason for the change in metal content is a different estimation technique was used. The estimation
technique used by previous operators was not considered to be appropriate for the style of mineralisation
and has been replaced with a Multiple Indicator Kriging model. Resource estimation was carried out by ABML

The Firawa Project is the most advanced of Forte Energy’s three uranium
exploration projects in Guinea. The completion of the resource drilling marks a further significant milestone for the Company, laying the foundations for its maiden JORC resource estimate, which is expected to be completed by the end of March 2009.").

es bleibt dabei(sie wollen den Termin einhalten: "Calculation of an initial JORC code compliant resource estimate for Firawa uranium prospect is expected shortly."):

Mal sehen was dabei herauskommt.
Zu dem anderen Projekt: "Work on detailed geophysical ground surveys commenced in February 2009 at Bir En Nar and at two
locations near Bir Moghrein. Results from these surveys will help to guide a core drilling programme to be completed during 2009 aimed at delineating a substantial uranium resource." da bin ich mir nicht ganz sicher -ob das survey oder auch schon eine Resourcenschätzung in diesem Jahr erfolgen soll? Kann da vielleicht wer übersetzungsmässig aushelfen???

11,6Mio Ibs @296ppm, bei 100ppm cut-off.

Forte Energy expands RC drilling programme at Bir Moghrein uranium project, expects Bir En Nar JORC resource in Q1 2010
company news image
Forte Energy (AIM: FTE) has significantly expanded its planned RC (reverse circulation) drilling programme at its wholly owned Bir Moghrein uranium project in Mauritania amid continued encouraging results from the ongoing exploration programme, also expecting a maiden JORC compliant uranium resource for its other uranium project Bir En Nar in Q1 2010.
Forte updated the market on the results of its exploration activities today, saying that sampling pits encountered hard calcrete with secondary uranium minerals down to more than three metres depth at the Leg Beija radiometric anomaly, which is now defined over an area 10 km (kilometres) long and 500 metres wide, while pit sampling at Anomaly 252 showed high radiation levels with secondary uranium minerals in calcrete with another calcrete mineralisation observed at anomaly 238 together with granite dyke or mylonite zone showing high uranium readings on spectrometer.
Observations that Forte said were encouraging have also been made in the course of field exploration elsewhere on Mauritanian licence areas, in particular, calcrete hosted uranium anomalies near Bir Moghrein.
Detailed radiometric airborne surveys over 9 areas within Forte's Mauritanian licences scheduled for completion in January 2010 and will be followed by the planned RC drilling programme, which has been tripled to 6,000 metres, covering 300 holes across 14 prospects to identify priority targets for follow-up resource drilling.
Results from the 4,000m resource drill testing completed during 2007 at Bir En Nar included intercepts in excess of 5,000 ppm (parts per million) U3O8 (triuranium octoxide) with a maximum intersection of 1.55 m (metres) at 18,280 ppm U3O8.
While resource drilling is underway at Bir En Nar, field exploration of other uranium targets has continued within Forte's exploration licences near Bir Moghrein, including trenching, geophysical surveying, geological study and rock sampling.
A JORC compliant uranium resource for Bir En Nar and the results of the sampling and RC drilling programs at Bir Moghrein are expected in 2010.
Forte Energy currently holds a total of nine uranium exploration licences within the Pre-Cambrian Reguibat Shield in Northern Mauritania covering a total of 11,895 sq km (square kilometres). The ground selected was highlighted by available airborne radiometric survey data and extends southeast for over 340 km from the town of Bir Moghrein. The principal radiometric targets tested lie within the vicinity of two major north-northwest to south-southeast trending structural zones containing local areas of supracrustal rocks within the granite dominated Reguibat Shield.
Shares in Forte added 5.5% on the news this morning.

West African hopes cheer Forte - GC - 16/03/2010

"Forte Energy expects new uranium resource figures for its Mauritanian projects shortly and could start producing from Guinea by 2012.
Based in Perth, Western Australia, and quoted Down Under and on AIM, Forte hopes to have a new resource estimate for Bir En Nar in Mauritania by the end of this month, following recent results showing ‘outstanding grades’, including eight metres of 2,470 parts of uranium oxide per million parts of rock and one metre at 4,890 parts per million. Managing director Mark Reilly says the company has identified several potential high-grade prospects at Bir Moghrein in Mauritania, where drilling will start late this year.
Forte is also active in Guinea, where it announced a maiden resource estimate for its Firawa prospect of 11.6 million lbs of uranium oxide U3O8 last year. According to Reilly, the company is working to increase that figure substantially and, if all goes well, could be in production there by the end of 2011 or the start of 2012, using cash flow from that to fund work on increasing the resource estimate further.
Forte, which raised £7.25 million last year at the equivalent of 3p, has around £4.25 million of cash left and is likely to spend about half of it this year, comments Reilly. He insists the company has no need for another cash call on the market.
French nuclear power giant Areva holds nearly 15 per cent of Forte and provides useful technical assistance. Reilly suggests the French company would be likely to be interested in off-take agreements once Forte’s projects moved into production.
Forte shares have been volatile, fluctuating between 2.6p and 2.25p over the past year. Highlighted by Growth Company Investor at 5.75p last year, they now trade at 10.5p, down 0.25p this morning, valuing the company at £60 million and still offering significant speculative potential. "

"International uranium exploration company Forte Energy NL has reported encouraging preliminary results from metallurgical investigations being undertaken of samples from its 100% owned Firawa Uranium Project in Guinea, West Africa.
The latest results confirm potential for heap-leach operation and indicate uranium recovery rates of 67% from 8-hour acid leach testing.
Further pre-feasibility optimisation testing is to be undertaken aimed at reducing acid consumption and further improving uranium recovery rates
An aditional drilling program is being planned on the remaining 50% undrilled anomaly. Drilling is to commence at the end of the third quarter after the wet season to extend the current JORC resource. "
