Die Aktie zeigt sich weiter stabil und per gestern kündigt sich ein Ausbruch an:
Im Herbst wird die Genehmigung erwartet. Wenn diese erfolgt, dürfte es kein Jahr dauern, bis Arianne übernommen wird. Und ich erwarte einen Übernahmepreis der mindestens 200% über dem aktuellen Kurs liegt. Dazu kürzlich auch Bob Moriarty:
My favorite phosphate company is Arianne Phosphate - DAN.V. For the next 20 years anything energy related is going to be high on investors' watch lists. The world’s population is growing and we either feed them or they riot. All fertilizers are going to be attractive. It’s the only way to make our limited arable land more productive.
Arianne has the world’s largest greenfield phosphate deposit and is located in one of the world’s safest jurisdictions, Canada. They released a feasibility study in October of 2013 that showed a NPV of $1.9 billion. Since that time they have both increased the resource and decreased the cost of production.
Since the BFS was released in 2013, DAN has reduced the cost of production by $14 a ton. That doesn’t sound like much until you factor in production of 3 million tons per year production. By sharpening their pencils and reworking their plans, they have put in savings of $42 million a year. And the BFS says they have a 26-year mine life, over 26 years that represents a $1 billion dollar saving .
And the company has been adding resources year after year. A back of the envelope calculation makes the mine life more like 50 years than the official 26 years.
Most phosphate produced today comes from the Middle East. It’s hardly news that the Middle East is in turmoil. As commodity prices go up from their historic lows, it would be natural to assume one of the big players will find it in his heart to put in a bid for Arianne. The company has an NPV of $21 a share today. Any bid would come in a lot higher.

I wrote about Arianne Phosphate in December when the tax-loss season had crumpled the price of the shares to $.63. Management was buying shares with both hands. The stock has recovered with a 50% gain in the past six months.
The price for Arianne is still absurd. The company has a NPV of $1.9 billion with a 26 year mine life with a 4.4 year payback and a 21% IRR. That’s compared to a market cap of under $100 million. At over 1 billion tons of phosphate rock it is the largest greenfield phosphate project in the world.
In the past year, management dramatically increased the resource size, announced a power deal with the Government of Quebec, reduced the operational cost by 8% since the feasibility study, gained a $2 million dollar investment from the Government of Quebec demonstrated the ability to produce a very high grade 40.0% P2O5 concentrate.
Phosphate is the essential ingredient in fertilizer for stem and root development. 200 million tons are produced worldwide, 85% of which is owned by fertilizer producers. The 30 million tons traded across the world mostly comes from unstable jurisdictions in Africa and the Middle East. Estimates hold that the US will be forced to double imports of phosphate over the next five years. US phosphate production is projected to decrease by 25 million tons over the next 15 years.
Arianne continues to drill the project with a goal of defining at least 50 years production. The real question has to be, “With 85% of the world’s phosphate mines owned by integrated fertilizer companies, just how much longer will the project remain independent?”

Vorab zu Phosphat zwei Fakten:
1. Man geht davon aus, dass die zur Düngerproduktion nutzbaren Phosphatlagerstätten früher erschöpft sein werden als die weltweiten Erdölvorkommen.
2. 35% der globalen Phosphat-Gewinnung kommt aus Marokko. Weitere aus Russland, Tunesien und den Ländern des Nahen und Mittleren Ostens. Allesamt „unsichere Quellen“.
Arianne hat eines der global größten Phosphat-Projekte der Welt (26 Jahre Minenleben) in der politisch stabilen Provinz Quebec in Kanada.
Das Projekt von Arianne hat einen NPV (=wirtschaftlicher Wert) von fast 2 Mrd. $. Aktueller Börsenwert 90 Mio. $. D.h. die Aktie notiert gewissermaßen bei rund 5% des „inneren Wertes“. Nun ist das nicht neu, doch die jüngsten News haben das Zeug, die Aktie zum Leben zu erwecken. So haben z.B. die Ureinwohner bzw. Three Innu First Nations dem Projekt zugestimmt. Das war ganz entscheidend – auch für potenzielle Investoren.
Was jetzt noch fehlt ist die Genehmigung durch die Behörden. Die kanadische Provinz Quebec hat 2 Mio. $ in Arianne investiert. Ich denke daher nicht, dass man der Genehmigung Steine in den Weg legen wird. Die Genehmigung wird im dritten Quartal 2015 erwartet. WENN diese erteilt wird, rechne ich mit einer unmittelbaren Neubewertung der Aktie, möglicherweise sogar einer recht baldigen Übernahme. Entsprechend ist aus meiner Sicht JETZT der richtige Zeitpunkt, sich zu positionieren. Und wie man sieht hat die Aktie kaum noch jemand auf den Radar.
