Two Companies That Fit Tesla’s (TSLA) Strategic Supply Securing Profile

Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) has spent the last twelve months picking up early stage supply contracts from a flurry of small, young lithium miners in North America. In August, the electric car maker announced a long term supply contract with BACANORA MINERALS COM NPV (OTCMKTS:BCRMF) and Rare Earth Minerals PLC (LON:REM) – two juniors that are working together under the moniker Sonora Lithium Project Partners. Together, they are targeting an annual supply capacity of 50,000 tons of lithium.
Just a month later, Tesla announced a lithium supply agreement with PURE ENERGY MINERA COM NPV (OTCMKTS:HMGLF). Pure Energy is a junior explorer currently investigating the lithium resources at one of its properties in Clayton Valley, an industry favorite region in Nevada. Subject to certain conditions – a favorable Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA), lithium quality, timing of delivery, etc. – Tesla has agreed to purchase an undisclosed annual purchase volume of lithium hydroxide for five years at a predetermined (and below market rate) price.
It seems Musk is loading up on the metal he requires to power his electric vehicle revolution ahead of production commencing at the Tesla Gigafactory. The rush to meet global lithium demand as vehicle power shifts from combustion to Li-Ion has led many young companies to try their luck in the mining space, and Tesla likely isn’t done yet with its supply securing.

NEW YORK (TheStreet) --Goldman Sachs (GS) has called Lithium the new gasoline and with many citing it as the key to the electric car revolution, its increasing global importance is being brought to light, CNBC's Mike Santoli reported on this morning's "Squawk on the Street."
For more on the Lithium demand for electric cars, CNBC's Phil LeBeau joined the program from Central Valley, Nevada as the great lithium race is picking up steam.
"There's a 15% annual growth in lithium as far as demand worldwide. Why? One of the key drivers is the fact that lithium is essential to the batteries in electric vehicles," LeBeau noted.

"Most of the new Lithium demand is being driven by larger format lithium-ion batteries, more and more are we needing lithium to power electric vehicles," Pure Energy Minerals CEO Patrick Highsmith told CNBC.
Moreover, Highsmith explained that while smaller, personal electronic devices use grams of lithium carbonate, electric vehicles use kilograms of the mineral.
"It's the increasing global demand for electric vehicles, which makes it so valuable. EV sales topped half a million last year and are on pace to exceed that this year as well," LeBeau explained.
Additionally, China, the number one market for electric vehicle sales, is also where most of the batteries are made. However, as LeBeau pointed out the reason he's in "the middle of nowhere Nevada," is because investors are noting the increase in demand for lithium, and new areas of where the mineral may be mined are being explored.

Ever since electric carmaker Tesla announced plans to build a battery plant outside Reno, Nevada, investors, fans of Elon Musk's company and others around the world have started paying attention to the silver state's large lithium deposits.
Lithium is a key component in the production of batteries used in cell phones and electric vehicles. As sales of electric vehicles, which topped 500,000 worldwide last year, increase, so is demand for lithium.
"Every new mine that we can find needs to be brought online and it needs to be done as fast as possible," said Patrick Highsmith, CEO of Pure Energy Minerals.
Highsmith's company is exploring how much lithium is in the water tables deep below the Nevada desert in Clayton Valley. This valley, halfway between Las Vegas and Reno, is ringed by mountains and home to one of the largest lithium deposits in North America. That's why companies such as Abermale have been here for years extracting lithium in a time consuming process of pumping water into huge extraction pools where the water evaporates and eventually leaves the salt, potash, and lithium.
Using evaporation to mine lithium is an old and time consuming process, taking well over a year to produce lithium.
Is lithium the new gas?
Pure Energy Materials, a mining company based in Canada, is hoping to cut down on that time by extracting the lithium brine from the ground and processing it immediately in Nevada to make lithium hydroxide that will be used to make batteries.
"Instead of taking 18 months or two years like with a large evaporation pond, this is an industrial process that works in a matter of hours," said Highsmith.
Pure Energy Materials has already inked a deal to supply the electric car company with lithium, provided it can do it economically. Making the numbers work is crucial to Tesla as it ramps up production of its Gigafactory just outside of Reno, Nevada. That facility will be supplying lithium-ion batteries for energy companies as well as Tesla vehicles, including the mass market Model 3 going on sale late next year.
One key to making money on Model 3 vehicles, which are expected to start at round $35,000, is for Tesla to bring down the cost of the lithium-ion batteries that will power the cars.
If Tesla's Gigafactory grows as fast as the company projects, Clayton Valley stands to profit. As Highsmith watched his company's exploration well pump out lithium brine, he thought about how much is at stake.
"We're probably only a few years away from a successful mine development, but we've got a great discovery here and we're continuing to advance it,' he said

Denn wenn Dein inzwischen herausgearbeiteter Pitch letztlich lautet,
"suche Werte die hochvolatil sind und versuche dann durch Timing davon zu profitieren"
dann kann das natürlich -und wird sicherlich auch- mal funktionieren, aber meiner Erfahrung nach nie nachhaltig und auf Dauer.

Es hat jedenfalls nichts mit Investieren zu tun.

Du scheinst aber nicht die nötigen mittel zu haben Charts vor einem Split zu posten. Das sie Jahre später Wertlos sind liegt daran das werte die 0,0001 0.002 usw. in pink gelistet sind oftmals nur kurzfristig steigen. Nicht sehr nachhaltig. Poste ich aber jeweils dabei wenn ein Wert sehr riskannt ist.

Pure Energy steht übrigens bei 0.72 +5% um mal wieder beim Thema zu bleiben. Ein guter start in den Tag wie ich finde. Mal sehen ob wir das am Tagesende noch etwas ausbauen können. Ich deke der $ Durchbruch ist nur noch eine frage von tagen. Meine Meinung.
