In November 2014, 88 Energy entered into a binding agreement with Burgundy Xploration (BEX) to acquire a significant working interest in a large acreage position on a multiple objective, liquids rich exploration opportunity onshore Alaska, North America – Project Icewine.

In November 2015, the gross acreage position was expanded by 172,937 acres to 271,119 contiguous acres (210,250 acres net to the Company).

The Project is located on an all year operational access road with both conventional and unconventional oil potential. The primary term for the State leases is 10 years with no mandatory relinquishment and a low 16.5% royalty.

Some really excellent passionate posts yesterday which made interesting reading.

We have a great few months ahead of us in terms of news flow and we all know our share price is news driven. I love a bit of gossip. The talk of Conventional finds in the seismic and the tantalising apparent change of emphasis on the purpose of the 2D gives us a fascinating insight into how Dave Wall is managing our programme as things progress. Offsetting the possibility of conventional finds and an uprated IRR with any concerns we may have about less than ideal flow rates from Icewine #2H and all helps us gain confidence in his abilities. We can see there are risks but looking back at the way Icewine #1 results were presented, “the four Achilles heals” with ticks in the boxes against Viscosity, Pressure, Permeability and Hydrocarbon Pore Volume, we can be confident that Dave understands market sensitivities.

Sure, we have had a bit of a rough time with the SP over the summer, but we understand the need for serious levels of cash to fund an oil exploration project. A$25 million was a big ask from our company in early 2016 then with a market capital of A$160 million. We also had the conflicting difference between the Independent Resource Report (IRR) 985 million barrels and the 88e Internal Assessment of our oil resources 2,602 million barrels. These are all very large numbers. Just look at the asset value when you very simply assume say $10 profit per barrel. Most here would accept the logic that D&M were not the ideal candidates to independently assess an innovative method of shale oil extraction; Paul Basinski is the world expert here with a clear track record of success of finding vast amounts of shale oil at Eagle Ford.

So we must expect a high level of volatility in our SP. I’m reasonably confident, no one can make any guarantees here, we must all understand and accept that, but I’m reasonably confident that we will see 4p after a good updated IRR in mid-October. 2.4p today, that’s a 66% gain in just 8 to 10 weeks? Some are going to bank some gains along the way that’s for certain. What is not certain is exactly when this will happen or at precisely what price and as Private Investors this is always our Achilles Heal; we just don’t know. If we get the Strategic Investor sniffing around with “a few million” the market might just conclude 6p by Christmas. We might then feel silly having sold out at 4p. Warren Buffet would be proud of us, but we just don’t know.
