Anders als von JPM vermutet hat es GLOB bisher am wenigsten zerlegt. Während die beiden kleineren Werte geschoren wurden.

Argentina Loses Emerging Market Status on FX Controls
      https://finance.yahoo.com/news/argentine-stocks-cut-emerging…
      ...
Argentine stocks were cut from emerging market status by index provider MSCI Inc on the country’s continued capital controls.

The downgrade to “standalone” status, which comes just three years after the index provider raised the country’s shares from frontier to emerging-market status, was prompted by Argentina’s ongoing capital controls, according to a statement published Thursday evening. The world’s largest index provider had signaled last year that Argentina could lose its standing if controls remained or increased.

“Since September 2019, international institutional investors have been subject to the imposition of capital controls in the Argentina equity market,” said Craig Feldman, global head of index management research and member of the MSCI Index Policy Committee, in the statement. “The prolonged severity of capital controls with no resolution is not in line with the Market Accessibility criteria of the MSCI Emerging Markets Index.”

The MSCI Standalone Market Indexes are not included in the MSCI Emerging Markets Index or MSCI Frontier Markets Index. Countries currently in that category include Panama, Lebanon, Palestine, Ukraine, Botswana and Zimbabwe.

The change will take effect in the November 2021 semi-annual index review, the statement added.
      ...

The decision is expected to lead almost $610 million to pull out of the three remaining companies in the MSCI Argentina index, according to JPMorgan estimates. Because the stocks were left as “standalone,” rather than frontier status, there won’t be any inflows to mitigate that exit, the analysts added.

“The new friends of the standalone neighborhood don’t inspire confidence in the investment community” said Joaquin Bagues, head strategist at Portfolio Personal Inversiones in Buenos Aires. “It’s not a positive decision for Argentina from all points of view.”

Argentina has intensified capital and currency controls since President Alberto Fernandez took office at the end of 2019. The country, which last year restructured $65 billion of overseas debt, remains locked out of foreign debt markets and has bolstered measures to keep scarce dollars within the country. While its foreign reserves recently got a boost from a rally in agricultural commodity prices, the country still has to face large loans from international lenders such as the International Monetary Fund and the Paris Club.

The MSCI Argentina index is up 4.8% since the beginning of the year, but has underperformed the MSCI Latin America index, which has gained 10%. Globant SA, Adecoagro SA and YPF SA are the only stocks that continue to be part of the index, as MSCI removed others following a stock rout that decimated traded volumes.

Argentina Exits Ninth Default After $65 Billion Debt Deal
      https://finance.yahoo.com/news/argentina-exits-ninth-default…

      ...
S&P Global lifted the rating to CCC+ with a stable outlook from “selective default” after the country issued new bonds Sept. 4 to replace securities that had been in default since May. The ratings agency raised Argentina’s long-term foreign and local currency rating on both international and local law debt.

Argentina’s upgrade out of default is the culmination of more than four months of negotiations with the country’s largest creditors which resulted in a deal worth roughly 55 cents on the dollar. That was enough for bondholders to exchange 99% of the nation’s international debt, granting about $38 billion in debt relief over the next 10 years.

“This important step forward provides the opportunity for the government to articulate a broader plan to tackle various post-pandemic macroeconomic challenges, negotiate a new program with the IMF, and work to clear arrears with the Paris Club,” S&P Global wrote in statement.

Argentina clinches deal with creditors to restructure $65 billion debt, bonds rise
      https://www.cnbc.com/2020/08/04/argentina-clinches-deal-with…

Argentina’s government announced early Tuesday morning it had reached a deal with creditors to restructure $65 billion in sovereign debt, drawing a close to months of negotiations rife with gridlock and disagreement.

The country’s existing euro bonds rose by as much as 3 cents on the news, building on gains in the previous session on anticipation of an agreement.

Three creditor groups — the Ad Hoc Group of Argentine Bondholders, the Exchange Bondholder Group, and the Argentina Creditor Committee — will now help Argentina to restructure its debt and offer it significant debt relief.

Talks as recently as June had hit an impasse when Buenos Aires said it could not “responsibly commit” to the terms offered by creditors.

Latin America’s third-largest economy, already in default, has for months left billions of dollars worth of bonds in default as its economy is hammered by the coronavirus pandemic.

Rising poverty and unemployment, as well as soaring interest rates amid an already two-year-long recession, had the country of roughly 45 million in dire financial straits even before the virus hit.

On May 22, Argentina saw its ninth sovereign debt default after missing overdue interest payments.
