Elon Musk’s Tesla Asked Law Firm to Fire Associate Hired From SEC
The Tesla boss has taken aim at individuals personally that he has clashed with

...
A partner at law firm Cooley LLP got an unexpected call late last year from a lawyer for one of the firm’s most famous clients, Elon Musk’s Tesla Inc. with an ultimatum.
The world’s richest man wanted Cooley, which was representing Tesla in numerous lawsuits, to fire one of its attorneys or it would lose the electric-vehicle company’s business, people familiar with the matter said.
The target of Mr. Musk’s ire was a former U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission lawyer whom Cooley had hired for its securities litigation and enforcement practice and who had no involvement in the firm’s work for Tesla.
At the SEC, the attorney had interviewed Mr. Musk during the agency’s investigation of the Tesla chief executive’s 2018 tweet claiming, wrongly, to have secured funding to potentially take the electric-vehicle maker private.
...
Cooley has declined to fire the attorney, who remains an associate at the firm, the people said.
Since early December, Tesla has begun taking steps in several cases to replace Cooley or add additional counsel, legal documents show. Mr. Musk’s rocket company Space Exploration Technologies Corp., also known as SpaceX, has stopped using Cooley for regulatory work, according to people familiar with the matter.

The Event: Next Friday, on January 21st, deep in the money calls worth billions of dollars are set to expire. Deep in the money calls are unique, because they are valued as being essentially equivalent to shares of stock (referred to as a Delta 1 position). Most of these calls were purchased in 2021 and have participated in the massive stock rally over the last year (S&P500 +24% since 1/1/21).
...
The Potential Impact: Regardless of these investor’s individual strategies, at SpotGamma, our models indicate that the net options delta set to expire on Friday, January 21st is over $125 billion. Our base case is that the expiration of these deep in the money calls are a catalyst for volatility – that is expanded stock price movement higher or lower. The ability to assign a direction to this volatility is dependent on how one assumes these investors are positioned.
Some of the Names in Play: Here is a short list of some of the top constituents in the S&P500, with the deltas expiring as a percent of ADV:
AAPL 27%
MSFT 11%
AMZN 61%
TSLA 107%
FB 15%
GOOGL 20%

YOU MAY NOT BE INTERESTED IN OPTIONS, BUT OPTIONS ARE INTERESTED IN YOU!

The primary risk-management technique is delta-hedging, which is when option traders start messing about in the equity markets. And they are brutal. They enter like a bull in a china shop, with complete disregard of price and value. They have no respect for your market. No appreciation of fundamentals. No awareness of sector rotation. No understanding of valuation multiples. And on top of that - complete ignorance of the available liquidity!
They come.
They take what they need.
And they leave.
Frequently leaving the market perplexed and confused as to what just happened. Investors are often left with no other choice but to come up with narratives that justify the aftermath of this inconsiderate behaviour.
But that's enough!
I say, no more!

“Negotiations have proved challenging,” said Carrie Schindler, director of transit and rail programs for the county transportation authority, during a public meeting on Thursday.
She said that although the Boring Co. originally proposed autonomous vehicles, it was “no longer committing to autonomous technology,” which would affect the county’s budget for the eventual operation of the project. Autonomous technology had once been a key selling point of Boring Loop systems.

...Tesla delays initial production of Cybertruck to early 2023 -source
https://finance.yahoo.com/news/exclusive-tesla-delays-initia…
...
Tesla Inc aims to start initial production of its much-anticipated Cybertruck by the end of the first quarter of 2023, pushing back its plan to begin production late this year, a person familiar with the matter told Reuters on Thursday. The person said the delay comes as Tesla is changing features and functions of the electric pickup to make a compelling product as competition heats up in the segment.
Tesla is expected to make limited production of the Cybertruck in the first quarter of 2023 before increasing output, the source said. Tesla did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Tesla, the world's top electric car maker, makes electric sedans and sport utility vehicles but has missed out on the pickup truck segment, which is profitable and hugely popular in America.
Ford Motor Co and Rivian Automotive are ahead of Tesla in launching electric pickups.... -- So ist es.

wieso macht Tesla sowas, wo doch der CEO den Eintrug erweckt, mit Lobbyismus (*) nichts zu tun zu haben und die Fans sagen, Tesla bräuchte zur Profitabilität keine Regulatory credits?

The Second Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals had rejected the electric vehicle maker's request in April for immediate action pending a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHSTA) review. Tesla again asked the court in August to take immediate action. The court on Thursday issued a brief order rejecting that request.
Tesla sells credits to other automakers to help them meet government vehicle emissions requirements, and says those credits are less valuable due to changes in rules made by former President Donald Trump's administration.
In August, NHTSA issued a notice saying it could impose higher penalties for prior model years. It submitted a draft proposal to the White House in December for regulatory review.
Automakers have said hiking penalties could cost them at least $1 billion annually, both for failing to meet the rules and higher prices for credits used to meet the rules.
The Trump administration in its final days delayed a 2016 regulation that more than doubled penalties for automakers failing to meet Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) requirements.
Tesla in August met with NHTSA and urged them withdraw Trump's action immediately.
