Eberhard said he isn't a fan of Tesla's Full Self-Driving software.
"I think it's a mistake to think of a car as a software platform — you know, like an iPhone or something. It's not the same," he said.
"I have an iPhone, and every time I get a software update there's bugs in there," Eberhard added. "These bugs mean, for example, that occasionally my news-feed app crashes. That's not a big deal, because it's just an annoyance on iPhone. But that kind of a bug shows up in the software that controls, for example, my brakes or the steering, it can kill you."
Eberhard said that while he appreciated "safety-oriented systems" like driver-assist features, he's "not a big fan" of autonomous driving. He said Musk appeared to be preoccupied with autonomous cars, and he described that as one of his biggest concerns for Tesla under Musk's leadership.
"I think the technology is way too immature to be laying on the road," he said, referring to Tesla's Full Self-Driving beta software. "I mean, this is my cautious nature, but I would have had a really hard time releasing software that is as buggy as that onto the roads."

Tesla surprised everyone when it announced earnings January 25th by disclosing it had begun recognizing some of the more than $1 billion in deferred revenue it had accumulated since 2016 for charging customers for “Full-Service-Driving” or FSD functionality.
I wrote about that on Feb. 10, describing the lead-up to the decision, the prior disclosures about what and why the recognition was coming now — 4th quarter 2022 — according to Tesla, and whether I thought that decision followed ASC 606, the GAAP revenue recognition rules.

However, no one but Tesla knew that the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration had notified Tesla on Jan. 25, according to Bloomberg, that it had identified “potential concerns related to certain operational characteristics of FSD Beta in four specific roadway environments” and requested that Tesla file a recall.
Tesla went ahead anyway and filed its Earnings Press Release with the SEC at 4:14 pm on January 25, with results that included revenue recognition of $472 million as of December 31, 2022, primarily related to the general FSD feature release in North America in the fourth quarter of 2022. There is no mention in the Earnings Press Release of the NHTS request for a recall.

Tesla then met with the agency multiple times in the following days, according to Bloomberg, and, “The company did not concur with the agency’s analysis, but decided on Feb. 7 to move forward with the recall ‘out of an abundance of caution,’ according to NHTSA.”
Tesla filed its 10-K on Jan 31, again with no waver on the revenue recognition, which put it over the top by a wide margin vs analysts’ estimates and did not mention its recall pending.
What happens next?
I suspect Tesla will be hearing from the SEC and the DOJ.

MMn bauen beide ihre $TSLA-Position nicht mehr wieder auf (die Ex-#1, Baillie Gifford & Co tat es auch nicht mehr) => alle Shares den Kleinanlegern
Zur Erinnerung: bei T. Rowe Price änderte sich in 2022 das Fonds-Management. Mit anderen Worten: auch die Neuen finden $TSLA nicht mehr so gut
