RZYM ist schon einige Male an dem Bereich um 28$ gescheitert - aber diesmal sollte es klappen!
Da sich bereits einiger Druck aufgebaut hat, dürfte es nach der Überwindung dieser Widerstandszone einen sehr schönen Ausbruch geben.

Tja, der Flug war - vorerst - nur von kurzer Dauer. Aber es hat wenigstens keinen allzu schlimen Absturz gegeben. Ich denke, mit dem Schluss von 28 $ am Donnerstag kann man halbwegs zufrieden sein. Der Verkaufsdruck hat sich in Grenzen gehalten. Wenn die Marktstimmung neutral bis positiv bleibt, sehen wir hoffentlich bald wieder Kurse über 30 $.

Man sieht es immer an der durchschnittlichen Ordergröße: Die Institutionellen kaufen nur bei guter Marktstimmung in steigende Kurse hinein. Dreht die Stimmung am Markt, halten sie sich auch bei einem Ausbruch wie dem von RZYM zurück.

Ob es jetzt wieder aufwärts geht, hängt also davon ab, wie sich Biotechs und Nasdaq allgemein präsentieren. Ab einem Kursniveau von vielleicht 35$ kann man durchaus wieder mit beträchtlichen Ordergrößen rechnen. Auf der Abwärtsseite rechne ich nicht mehr mit einem Kursverfall unter 26$.

Anti-Hepatitis C Ribozyme Safety and Pharmacokinetics Trial Successfully Completed
FAIRFIELD, Conn., Sept. 12, 2000 (PRIMEZONE) -- Competitive Technologies, Inc. (AMEX:CTT - news) confirmed that its licensee, Ribozyme Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Nasdaq:RZYM - news), and Eli Lilly and Company (NYSE:LLY - news) announced yesterday the successful completion of a safety and pharmacokinetic study of LY466700, the Anti-Hepatitis C ribozyme compound discovered by RZYM.

Competitive Technologies has exclusively licensed the ribozyme technology to Ribozyme Pharmaceuticals. Revenues generated from sales of FDA-approved RZYM products using CTT technologies will produce royalties for CTT.

``We are pleased to see the positive progress being made with respect to the Anti-Hepatitis C ribozyme compound. Hepatitis-C is a disease that affects millions of people worldwide including the U.S. If an effective drug is found and approved for use, it would be an important step in battling this deadly disease,`` said Frank R. RZYM reported that the study was designed to examine safety and bioavailability in patients during a 28-day dosing regimen and was not designed to determine efficacy. RZYM added that preliminary results indicate that the drug was very well tolerated over a 28-day period and that its pharmacokinetic characteristics support a subcutaneous dosing regimen, a mode of administration already familiar to chronic Hepatitis C patients.

``In contrast to currently available Hepatitis C therapies, this new class of therapeutics has shown an exceptional safety profile thus far,`` said Ralph E. Christoffersen, Ph.D., President and CEO of Ribozyme Pharmaceuticals. ``We are pleased with the results of this study.``

Data from the most recent clinical trials will be discussed at the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD) conference in Dallas, Texas, October 26-29, according to RZYM.

Ribozymes are the product of Nobel Prize-winning science from the University of Colorado and are synthetically engineered to act as ``molecular scissors`` capable of cleaving target RNA in a highly specific manner.

Ich habe diese Woche meine Position bei 35 € glattgestellt. Mir wird es etwas zu heiß im Moment. Das liegt nicht an Ribozyme, sondern an der gesamten Börsen-Stimmung.

Ribozyme Pharmaceuticals Presents Study Results




Fairfield, CT (September 27, 2000) - Competitive Technologies, Inc. (AMEX: CTT) confirmed today that its licensee, Ribozyme Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Nasdaq: RZYM) has completed a cell culture study using several ribozymes designed to inhibit Hepatitis B replication. The data demonstrated potent anti-viral effects of the ribozymes in several model systems. In response, RZYM has announced a formal product development program for Hepatitis B Viral (HBV), and plans to choose an optimum ribozyme to enter toxicology studies in the near future.

Competitive Technologies has exclusively licensed the ribozyme technology to Ribozyme Pharmaceuticals. Revenues generated from sales of approved RZYM products using CTT technologies will produce royalties for CTT.

Dr. Lawrence M. Blatt, RZYM`s Vice President of Research, presented the results of the study, "Synthesis and Characterization of Nuclease Resistant Ribozymes Directed Against HBV RNA," at the 4th Shanghai International Symposium on Liver Cancer and Hepatitis (Hepa 2000).

RZYM indicated that chronic Hepatitis B afflicts over 300 million people worldwide. In the United States approximately 1.25 million individuals are chronic carriers of HBV as evidenced by the fact that they have measurable hepatitis B virus surface antigen in their blood. In regions of higher prevalence, such as in most of Asia, HBV carrier rates range from 7% to 20%. Chronic carriers are at high risk of progressing to liver cirrhosis, hepatocellular carcinoma and death.

Den jüngsten Kurssturz von Ribozyme erkläre ich mir durch die Mitteilung, dass Ribozyme die Partnerschaft mit Lilly in Sachen Hepatitis C beendet hat. Vielleicht wurde aus diesem Grund auch die Meldung nicht positiv aufgenommen, dass im 1. Quartal 2001 die Phase II der klinischen Untersuchungen eingeleitet wird. Obwohl man von einem guten Ergebnis der Phase I spricht! Vielleicht vermuten Anleger, dass Lilly das Interesse verloren hat, weil möglicherweise Schwierigkeiten aufgetaucht sein könnten?

Jedenfalls sehen es die Anleger von CTT, zu denen ich mittlerweile auch gehöre, offensichtlich gelassener: Hier ist kein Verkaufsdruck zu beobachten.

Eine sehr gute Diskussion zu den Perspektiven von RZYM findet man bei Yahoo. Dort wird auch darüber gestritten, ob nicht vielleicht Lilly einfach nur ausgebootet wurde. Ich denke, dass das Management von Ribozyme hier für eine Klarstellung sorgen sollte. Allerdings bin ich mir nicht sicher, ob diese tatsächlich kommt. Wenn RZYM das Geschäft tatsächlich allein machen will, werden sie wohl kaum einen big player wie Lilly noch weiter provozieren wollen.
