Ich glaube übrigends auch wieder an Earthlink! Ist zwar über ein Jahr her, aber Geduld zahlt sich eben aus. Heute + 9,3% in Frankfurt und an der Nasdaq + 6,34 %. Auf www.onvista.de sagen übrigends 16 Analysten "Strong buy". Unter anderem auch diese ältere Empfehlung:

Die Anlage-Experten von „Hot Stocks Investor“ raten auf dem
stark reduzierten Niveau zum Kauf von Aktien des US-amerikanischen
ISP-Providers Earthlink (WKN 934498).
Die US-Internet-Portale blieben ganz klar im Zentrum des internationalen
Anlegerinteresses. Anführer für Internet-Zugänge bleibe derzeit noch
unangefochten America Online (AOL). Der Marktführer müsse sich aber warm
anziehen. Die Konkurrenz stehe in den Startlöchern. Das Marketing-Konzept
werde kopiert, die Inhalte würden besser.

Earthlink habe sich dem ambitionierten Ziel verschrieben, die Zahl seiner
Internet-Nutzer binnen eines Jahres von 3,1 Mio. mehr als zu verdoppeln.
Noch schenke die Börse solchen hochgesteckten Zukunftsplänen keinen
rechten Glauben.

Durch das Merger mit Mindsprings wurde die Ausgangsbasis um eine Mio.
Kunden erweitert, so der Börseninformationsbrief. Das inhaltliche Angebot
von Earthlink ziele vor allem auf die erwachsen werdenden AOL-Nutzer, die
mit dem AOL-Standard-Angebot nicht mehr zufriedenzustellen seien. 70%
seiner Kunden rekrutiere Earthlink heute aus dem Nutzerkreis von AOL. Und
die seien mit dem Earthlink-Angebot zufrieden. Das ergeben laut „Hot
Stocks Investor“ jedenfalls Umfragen, die die Nutzer-Zufriedenheit
mit dem Earthlink-Portal eindeutig belege.

Earthlink arbeite wie allen anderen ISPs daran, die Trauben für mögliche
Konkurrenten jetzt möglichst hoch zu hängen. Das erzwinge schon heute
einen Konsolidierungsprozess in der noch so jungen Branche.

EarthLink Announces a Stock Buy Back of 5 Million Shares

Top 10 ISP OneMain.com Adds Approximately 762,000 New Members to EarthLink

ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 8, 2000--EarthLink Inc. (NASDAQ:ELNK - news), today strengthened its position as the nation`s second largest Internet
Service Provider (ISP) by announcing a definitive agreement to acquire OneMain.com (NASDAQ:ONEM - news), one of the country`s ten leading ISPs. On a
combined basis, the two companies have more than 4.2 million members. The transaction expands EarthLink`s national market coverage from major population
centers into rural communities and smaller cities where OneMain.com has focused its operations.

``Consistent with EarthLink`s mission to become one of the world`s leading ISPs, the acquisition of OneMain.com strategically positions EarthLink to capture market
share in one of the fastest-growing segments in the ISP marketplace -- rural America and smaller cities,`` said Garry Betty, CEO of EarthLink. ``We see opportunity

Terms of the Deal

EarthLink will purchase OneMain.com for cash and stock valued at approximately $308 million, or approximately $12.27 per share for each of OneMain.com`s 25.1
million common shares outstanding. The purchase price consists of approximately $150 million in cash and approximately 8.8 million shares of EarthLink common
stock valued at $158 million at the closing price of $17.94 on June 7, 2000.

The OneMain.com purchase includes a subscriber base of approximately 730,000 narrowband accounts, 27,000 Web hosting customers, and 5,000 broadband
customers. On a combined basis, EarthLink would be the nation`s second largest Web hosting provider, with 148,000 Web hosting accounts as of March 31, 2000.

The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2000. With this transaction, EarthLink expects to end the year with approximately 5 million members and
annualized revenues of approximately $1.3 billion.

EarthLink also announced today authorization from its board of directors of a plan to repurchase up to five million shares of EarthLink common stock through open
market purchases.

Die No.2 in Sachen Internet Service Providing in den USA, Earthlink Networks (Nasdaq:ELNK) übernimmt den Internet Service Dienst OneMain.com für etwa 308 Mio. Dollar in Aktien und bar.

Earthlink wird dabei insgesamt 8,8 Millionen eigene Aktien für alle 25,1 Millionen ausstehenden Aktien von OneMain.com zuzüglich 150 Mio. Dollar in bar bieten. Damit wird Onemain.com mit etwa 12,27 Dollar je Aktie bewertet. Die Übernahme soll dabei bereits im vierten Quartal des laufenden Geschäftsjahres abgeschlossen werden.

Mit der Übernahme von OneMain.com gewinnt Earthlink weitere 730.000 neue Kunden hinzu, womit die Gesellschaft insgesamt 4,2 Millionen Kunden weltweit betreut.

In einem anderen Zusammenhang gab Earthlink bekannt, fünf Millionen eigene Aktien in den nächsten Monaten zurückkaufen zu wollen. Der Verwaltungsrat hat diesem Plan der Gesellschaft bereits zugestimmt.

Microsoft (MSFT) would not rule out the acquisition of an Internet service provider at the right price, Chief Financial Officer John Connors indicated in a meeting with analysts today.

"We`re looking at [possible acquisitions] more broadly than we have in the last 18 or 24 months" because valuations have become more reasonable, he said.


Speculation has run rampant in the last week that Microsoft might want to acquire No. 2 ISP EarthLink since Sprint (FON) gave up rights to acquire the company ahead of other suitors.


EarthLink (ELNK) has 4.7 million subscribers, while MSN has 4 million. Both companies are still small potatoes, though compared to AOL Time Warner`s (AOL) 27 million subscribers.


Connors was cautious in his statements at the Robertson Stephens technology conference today, saying large acquisitions have a history of failing to add shareholder value and can be difficult to integrate.


He also said Microsoft is concerned that Internet access may become a zero- or negative-margin business because there is so much competition among communications companies, which have spent a fortune on infrastructure.


Microsoft will look to partner with communications companies in the coming years, Connors said, but it is also essential for the company to figure out ways to offer premium services that users will pay for.


He said some of Microsoft`s software, including things like its Encarta encyclopedia, have the potential to become a viable service.

EarthLink: Verlust verringert, Umsatz +32 Prozent

Die EarthLink Inc., der zweitgrößte Internet Service Provider in den USA, meldete am Donnerstag, dass sich ihr Verlust im zweiten Quartal verringert hat, was auf höhere Umsätze zurückzuführen ist. Zudem erwartet man zum Jahresende einen positiven Cash-Flow.
Der Verlust betrug 35,1 Mio. Dollar bzw. 27 Cents pro Aktie gegenüber einem Verlust von 35,2 Mio. Dollar bzw. 29 Cents pro Aktie im Vorjahr. Analysten hatten einen Verlust von 27 Cents pro Aktie bei einem Umsatz von 300,9 Mio. Dollar prognostiziert.

Der Umsatz im Quartal stieg von 230,9 Mio. Dollar im Vorjahr um 32 Prozent auf nun 303,8 Mio. Dollar.

Die Aktie von EarthLink schloss gestern an der Nasdaq bei 14,95 Dollar.

Nach Kurssteigerungen von über 250 Prozent in weniger als 9 Monaten wäre das nachhaltige Überschreiten der langfristigen Abwärtstrendlinie mehr als Überraschend gewesen. Nach unseren früheren Tradingverkäufen zu USD 16,-- und USD 17,-- konnte unser Verkauflimit (USD 17,--) der Vorwoche nicht noch einmal erreicht werden. Die in der Vorwoche erwähnten Ermüdungserscheinungen in den Indikatoren sind nun meist zu Richtungswenden in diesen Hilfsmitteln geworden, so dass wir weiterhin zurückhaltend agieren wollen. Wir stellen das Papier nun auf Halten.
