Steht Apples Handy-Markteinstieg bevor?
MacWorld Expo soll der Start des ersten Apple-Handys sein
Nach monatelangen Spekulationen über die Vorstellung eines Mobiltelefons von Apple verdichten sich kurz vor dem Start der MacWorld Expo in San Francisco die Gerüchte darüber. Das von Apple angebotene Mobiltelefon soll die Funktionen eines herkömmlichen Handys mit den Fähigkeiten eines iPods kombinieren. Zudem soll mit iTV ein PC mit Schwerpunkt auf Multimedia-Funktionen vorgestellt werden.
Wie das Wall Street Journal mit Bezug auf informierte Kreise berichtet, wird das Apple-Handy auf der heute Abend startenden MacWorld Expo in San Francisco vorgestellt.
Zunächst wird die AT&T-Tochter Cingular Wireless das Mobiltelefon ins Sortiment nehmen und mit passenden Diensten anbieten. Apple kommentierte die Gerüchte zu dem Apple-Handy nicht.
Was genau die Kombination aus Handy und iPod bringen wird, ist derzeit nicht bekannt, zumal nicht klar ist, was für iPod-Funktionen in ein mögliches Apple-Handy integriert werden. Denkbar ist, dass hiermit lediglich die Funktion beschrieben wird, dass das Apple-Handy auch als mobiler Musikspieler benutzt werden kann. Dies wäre allerdings kaum der Rede wert, da dies mittlerweile bei jedem Mittelklasse-Handy zum Pflichtprogramm gehört.
Sollte sich der Start des Apple-Handys bewahrheiten, stellt sich die Frage, wie die Netzbetreiber auf den neuen Anbieter reagieren. Neueinsteiger im Handy-Markt haben es oft schwer, die Netzanbieter zu überzeugen, ihre Produkte mit entsprechenden Angeboten in ihr Sortiment zu nehmen.
Branchenkenner erwarten außerdem, dass Apple mit iTV in den Fernsehmarkt einsteigt und ein entsprechendes Gerät auf der MacWorld Expo vorstellt. Der iTV wird wohl ein PC sein, der auf Fernseh- und Videofunktionen zugeschnitten ist. Die betreffenden Sendungen sollen via Internet auf das Gerät gelangen. Es würde mich nicht wundern, wenn Steve Jobs morgen bei der MacWorld einen Aktiensplitt ankündigt.

iRumors: Apple May Launch A Phone And A Video Player Next Week

With the Macworld Expo only a few days away, the Internet is abuzz with speculation about what Apple may introduce and whether anything it does unveil can live up to the iPod's multi-year reign as the hot gadget du jour.
Will Apple's Steve Jobs unveil the video playing device he dubbed iTV with a tease of information last September that offered analysts and the throngs of Apple faithful just enough to light a fire of anticipation and rumor across the Internet? Is there really an Apple cell phone in the works (Cisco systems owns the name iPhone) or is it just the product of techie pundits looking for a cause to get behind?
Jobs has scheduled two hours for his keynote speech on Tuesday, Jan. 9. The company's Web site has been teasing users with promises of big things to come.
With this amount of debate and anticipation, whatever Jobs announces better be big, says John Welch, a Unix/open source administrator at Kansas City Life Insurance and a Mac industry analyst.
"They're going to have to have some big stuff," says Welch. "Steve Jobs has announced big stuff and not so big stuff and every damn year Apple stock dives after a keynote. It's just never big enough. He could announce warp drive teleporters and people would bitch that he didn't announce a latte maker Everyone has their own pet cause. If he doesn't announce an iPhone, people will be all over that."
Analysts are all over the map when it comes to what Apple will reveal at Macworld.
For Welch, he's on the fence when it comes to an Apple phone. "I can't come up with a good business reason for them to even do a phone," he says. "I just don't see it making a lot of sense."
If they do come out with a cell phone, however, Welch lays odds on it being unlocked, meaning Apple would sell it and then the user could take it to any of the carriers -- Cingular, Sprint, T-Mobile, etc. -- to get service.
Another analyst, who asked to remain anonymous, says he'd lay money on Apple following in Disney's and ESPN's footsteps in the cellular world. He predicts Apple will come out with a cell phone and also buy time from various wireless carriers and sell the cellular service, as well. "I don't see Apple giving part of the experience over to somebody else," says the analyst. "Look at the iPod. They said, 'Here's the iPod and here's iTunes.' They didn't send users to Napster."
Bob LeVitus, a technology columnist for the Houston Chronicle and a speaker at Macworld Expo, says if Apple does come out with a cell phone or some other type of wireless phone, the company needs to focus on making it a cut above every other phone and PDA currently available in the crowded and competitive market.
"It can't just be like any of the other music playing phones that have come out so far and have gotten mediocre reviews," says LeVitus, who also is the author of Mac OS X for Dummies. "It would have to combine address book, calendar, music player, camera, phone, and video. Apple really has the talent to do that, and put a great interface on it. They also applied for a patent for a touch-screen interface, which would mean you could have a screen that would take up the whole length and width of the device. If it was both interface and screen and all touch sensitive -- that might be very cool."
Analysts also agree that any such device has to be as much a cell phone as it is a music player. Since it won't be the first device to try to do that, it'll simply have to do it that much better. There's talk of using iTunes for ring tones and enabling users to send music to their friends over the phone.
On the iTV Front
A lot of companies are throwing a lot of money at figuring out a better way to deliver streaming video over the Internet. Apple's answer just might be iTV.
Last September, Jobs announced that Apple was working on a device that would attach to television sets and wirelessly link in audio and video files held on Macs and PCs. Google watcher Steve Arnold said in a recent interview that Jobs is likely to announce that Apple will use Google's video search capability to find and distribute videos.
Josh Bernoff, an analyst at Forrester Research, says when Apple first talked about iTV, it was a lightweight device with no hard drive. That's not likely what the final product will be, though.
"It probably will have a hard drive," says Bernoff. "If you have a device in your home network and it's intended to show video on your television set, you need a certain amount of bandwidth to show high-quality video delivered across the home network. If you put a hard drive on it, you can download stuff on it. You can take as much time as you need to download and then show a movie with a high-quality picture."
Nearly all of the analysts interviewed say Jobs will have to say something about iTV to follow up on all the hype. Will it be ready to ship in January? Well, that's a whole other issue.
"I'm hearing that iTV might be passed over for now," says Josh Martin, a research analyst at the Yankee Group. "Even if it's not ready to go, they at least have to talk about it. Even if they say they're making great strides and be prepared for a launch coming up. If they don't, people will just be talking about what happened to it."
Martin, though, says this is Apple's big chance to not only grab a lot of attention and free marketing, but it's also their chance to overshadow competitors at the Consumer Electronics Show going on at the same time in Las Vegas. "If they come out with something big, all of a sudden this smaller show will overshadow the bigger show," he adds. "It's a prime opportunity for them to have a captive audience not just on the West Coast but at this huge gathering in Vegas where people could stop what they're doing just to talk about what's happening at Macworld."

wenn jobs mit einem IPhone-prototyp auf die bühne kommt bzw. ein konkretes, nicht all zu weit in der zukunft liegendes einführungsdatum nennen kann, tippe ich auf einen kurs, der knapp über die 100 $ geht, bevor gewinnmitnahmen kommen
wenn nicht, werden die hohen erwartungen enttäuscht und es geht erst mal abwärts

Ich denke mal, dass wird der Anfang sein. Ich hoffe, dass wir im Anschl. von MacWorld 12 Monatelang immer wieder gute Überraschungen erleben werden.
Nun würde mich aber eure Meinung interessieren. Was meint ihr, wieviel $ die Aktie an dem besagten Abend zulegen wird?
Ich persönlich tippe:
Mit IPhone: 8-10$
Ohne IPhon dafür aber mit I-TV: 2-4$
Weder noch: Ja dann... Gott gnade uns
