HanKore expands presence in Shaanxi province with strategic water treatment project in Liquan

      * HanKore to build and develop municipal wastewater treatment plant in Liquan county worth RMB 100 million

      * Work on the Liquan project will begin in September and construction to be completed by June 2012

SINGAPORE – 23 July 2011 – HanKore Environment Tech Group Limited (“HanKore”, “汉科环境”or “The Group”), a leading Chinese environmental solutions provider focused on the water sector, has signed a strategic agreement with the Shaanxi-Liquan County People’s Government. The strategic agreement will enable HanKore to build and develop municipal wastewater treatment projects in Liquan county.

The total investment in the first phase of this project is expected to amount to RMB 100 million (about S$18.8 million). Construction for the initial phase is expected to begin in September 2011 and complete by June 2012. This partnership is part of Liquan county’s on-going urban planning effort to improve environmental infrastructure and promote economic development.

“The acceleration of urbanization and rapid economic growth in Liquan will result in more demanding requirements in terms of water resources use. The Shaanxi Government will continue to make efforts to improve the quality of water resources in this area,” said Mr David Chen (陈大伟), HanKore Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer.

The Liquan municipal BOT (build-operate-transfer) water and wastewater treatment project is expected to have the capacity to treat 60,000 tons of wastewater and deliver 50,000 tons of treated water for recycling per day. In Phase I, the wastewater plant is expected to treat 25,000 tons of wastewater and to deliver 25,000 tons of treated water daily. In Phase II, the plant will be expanded to treat an additional 15,000 tons of wastewater and to deliver 5,000 tons of treated water per day.

In addition, the strategic agreement includes setting up a BOT water treatment project for renewable resources in the Liquan Industrial Park with a capacity to treat 20,000 tons of wastewater and deliver 20,000 tons of treated water for recycling per day.

Amidst this strong domestic economic growth and the on-going acceleration of urban development in Liquan, HanKore will utilize its environmental technology products, equipment and solutions to manage and treat the county’s municipal sewage and wastewater. With its comprehensive and integrated water and wastewater management solutions, HanKore will bring well equipped to take advantage of the new round of business opportunities in Shaanxi province.

This latest development follows HanKore’s recent strategic cooperation agreement with the Xianyang City Environmental Protection Bureau which grants the Group the preferential right to invest in its environmental infrastructure of RMB 1 billion in value within a five year period. The agreement also includes building a RMB 12 million training centre to promote environmental awareness in Xianyang City, in Shaanxi Province.

Led by Mr David Chen, HanKore’s newly appointed management team has been leveraging on its experience and expertise in the water sector to enhance shareholder value. The Group has divested non-core assets, re-focused its development and business development towards new geographical areas in China as well as re-organising its structure to better facilitate future business activities.
