Xoma gehört zur Gruppe der Biotech small-caps mit einer Marktkapitalisierung 351 Mio$.
Vorweg:
Xoma scheint aber derzeit von Anylysten nicht so sehr beachtet zu sein. momemtan gibt es nur Meinungen von 2 Analysten zu XOMA.
Desweiteren füllt mich die Homepage von Xoma mit Unbehagen.
Sie weist einerseits ein schlechtes Layout auf, wirkt also unästhetisch und ist zum anderen in meinen Augen etwas unübersichtlich. Die Homepage macht also alles in allem einen etwas unprofessionellen Eindruck.
Ihr werdet darüber vielleicht lachen, aber:
Versetzt euch mal in die Rolle von den wichtigen institutionellen Investoren. Bevor die mal auf ein Unternehmen näher zugehen, so es auf einer Konferenz etc. ,wrden die sich wohl erst mal die Grundlagen anschauen - und wo? . natürlich auf der Homepage.
Viele von euch werden ja wissen, dass man sich heute im allgemeinen eine unprofessionelle Unternehmenspräsentation nicht mehr leisten kann.
Bevor ich zur eigentlichen Pipeline komme, muss gesagt werden, dass Xoma neben seine Präparaten in den klinischen Phasen bereits einiges an NAchschub für zukünftige Studien in petto hat, so dass hier ein ebentueller langfristiger Erfolg gesichert werden könnte.

Am wichtigsten sind momentan die 2 folgenden Präparate für XOMA:
Anti-CD11a, ein humaner monoklonaler Antikörper, der sich in Phase III befindet, zusammen mit genentech (DNA) entwicklet wird und bei der Behandlung von “psoriasis”, einer Hautentzündung, angewendet wird.
Dax zweite Hauptprodukt für XOMA ist ein Protein namens NEUPREX, welcher mit Baxter, einer Us-Pharma-Company, enwicklet wird und sich bei 2 Anwendungsbereichen in Phase III der klinischen Entwicklung befindet.
Weitere Forschungsbereiche sind auch Krebs und Störungen des Immunsystems.
udem lizensiert Xoma seine Technologie auch an andere Firmen.
Wie gesagt, XOMA ist ein kleiner Biotech-Wert und hat 2 Phase III Präparate, aber wie oben schon gesagt, scheint er doch eher weniger von Analysten beachtet zu werden. r fällt auch relativ zur herrschenden Volatilität im Biotech-SEktor durch noch wildere Kurssprünge als andere Werte auf.
An kleinen Werten sind momentan eher ILXO odr CVTX aussichtsreicher.

Health and Calm Return to the Market

The market registered one of the calmest weeks ever last week, with Nasdaq 100 futures ending one-tenth of 1% above the previous Friday`s close and the S&P 500 moving less than 1% each day.
Such serenity occurs so rarely that counting and statistics on the table are in order, as recommended by our muse Francis Galton, inventor of correlation and regression, and his modern incarnation, Steve Stigler of the University of Chicago.
True, the last time this happened, Feb. 18, the markets shot up violently the next week. But randomness and uncertainty make decision-making from one instance totally worthless, and even more frequently, positively dysfunctional because of the law of ever-changing cycles.
We turn instead to a principled approach to a prediction.
The Main Mission
Realize that the main purpose of market movements, as far as the mistress of markets is concerned, is to provide for the continuity of the market. Everything has to begin with paying for the enormous infrastructure that keeps the various participants in their places. The public provides the energy and money to be digested and recycled by groups higher in the chain, keeping the wheels of commerce greased.
But how is the public going to pay lots of commissions and bid-asked spreads if there isn`t any volatility? The correct answer, in brief, is that the mistress must scare weak longs before rises, uncork weak shorts before declines, and create pockets of turbulence that catch the weak in over their heads at all times - and she must do all this while maintaining the illusion of hope. You have to give her credit. She does her job so beautifully that, as Darwin would say, death in the main is relatively painless and prompt.
In any case, the mistress of markets can`t do her work with two back-to-back weeks of low volatility. She obviously has all sorts of bells, whistles, snares, contrivances and, most of all, deceptions in store for us this week. And all this will be compounded and exponentialized by the expiration of stock market options on individual stocks and futures on Friday.
Problem is, even though we know she has a horrible Pandora`s box ready for us this week, we don`t know which way it`s going to end. And even if we did we couldn`t say, because as our readers know, we have given up forecasting out of that same disillusionment that rabid Dodger fan Willie Sutton felt when Bobby Thompson of the Giants hit that fateful home run in the 1951 playoffs.
All we will say, like 90% of our colleagues, is that ``The market will be range-bound.``
Mostly Random Results
As we have repeatedly stated, forecasting isn`t easy, and non-random results are few and far between. To succeed, you need microscopes, specimen bags, multimeters, correlation tables, topographic maps, artificial intelligence software, tracking templates (to ferret out the elephants), and of course, an adequate supply of canes.
Yet we have been known to put up the good fight, feeble though it may be, and we always have a pencil and back of an envelope handy, and a computer or two programmed to unravel the regularities for our readers` benefit when we are not overly discouraged.
While we are well aware that our readers collectively are much more insightful and intelligent than ourselves, our editors are usually averse to a frank admission of same on the grounds that they want to hear from us two old owls, not their contemporaries. Just once since we started, however, we threw in all our tools, and turned it over to our readers to let them educate you directly.
Last Thursday, we published a method for sure profits from readers Jim Daniels and Ron Freeman. All it requires is to figure out the best companies providing support for the Internet, the kind that you would want to work for, and buy and hold.
True, it`s not certain that the 55% average annual returns this method has provided for the last few years will continue. Yes, it has been rather beautiful on the Nasdaq fields these past 10 years, and yes, it`s difficult to know which stocks are the best ones prospectively rather than retrospectively.
Also, there has to be some level where buying such companies leads to the irrational valuations at which Dr. Greenspan, Dr. Shiller and others who don`t read Huckleberry Finn each year are so prone to point the guilty finger.
Worse yet, there`s always the fear that for each reader who made 55% a year and wrote to us, there are 10 in the closets who were tapped out by picking the wrong stocks at the highs and did not write to us.

Biotech Comes Back From Grave

Our speculators are swayed to join the crowds following biotech because of the enormous potential.
Biotech stocks have been slipping back and forth since the beginning of the century like a hog on ice.
The best index for monitoring biotechs is the Biotech HOLDRs trust (Amex:BBH - news), traded on the American Stock Exchange under the symbol BBH. It consists of a market-value weighted index of 20 biotech stocks including Genentech (NYSE
NA - news), Amgen (Nasdaq:AMGN - news), Immunex (Nasdaq:IMNX - news), PE Corp.-PE Biosystems Group (NYSE:PEB - news) and Medimmune (Nasdaq:MEDI - news). It regularly trades 500,000 shares a day with bid-asked spreads averaging about 1/10 of a percent on markets good for 1,000 shares.
The index, from about 100 in early December 1999, moved pretty continuously up to 243 on March 3, then fell to 122 on April 24. On June 9, it was back up to 160, falling to 152 yesterday.
The moves of the biotech stocks have not gone unnoticed. Yesterday, undoubtedly for the first time in their history, both BusinessWeek and The New Yorker had lead stories on how scientists are on the verge of unraveling the order of the 3 billion bases that comprise DNA in humans.
Biotech Potential Prods Speculators
We are amateurs in this field as we are in so many others, and hesitate to join the crowd at what would ordinarily seem like the height of hype -- the worst possible time to buy. But the potential arising from the research in this field leads us to overcome our reluctance, especially since we have given up the forecasting game -- something that`s very hard to do indeed in the face of the incredibly bullish scenario that should unfold today after three significant daily consecutive declines in S&P 500 futures.
Most experts believe advances in biotech will lead inevitably to a doubling in human life expectancy for those born 25 years from now, along with the eradication of cancer and heart disease, as well as a general improvement in the quality of life.
Our first step into the fray was yesterday`s publication of the wisdom and stock picks of Frank Linet, a common man -- in fact, a street person not too long ago before a 100-fold increase in his portfolio enabled him to climb into a home of his own and a place in the firmament of the savants we rely on. His five picks yesterday did not buck the 5% decline in the biotech index yesterday, performing as follows:

We are not in the habit of throwing our friends to the lions. Nor do we think it good to be overly discouraged when good stocks go down in a portfolio. Quite the contrary. For example, we have been following a portfolio of 35 beaten stocks that fell this year from above the magnetic North Pole of 200 to below the South Pole of 100.
We first recommended them to worldlyinvestor.com readers on May 26 -- shortly before the Memorial Day rally that sparked our decision to retire from forecasting a winner, in the tradition of Ted Williams, who ended his baseball career with a home run.
Since that time, the ``Down 35`` is up about 60%, and now stands 30% above its level on April 20, when we originally invented the index.
The Way of a GENtelman
We will now return to another of our old friends, the genetic index sparked by technician Vic`s viewing of Laurel`s Lindy hop sequence at the Irving Plaza Ballroom on May 17. That index evolved from the base of life itself: the gene. It consists of every company containing the letters of life -- G E N -- listed in the Standard & Poor`s monthly stock guide at year-end 1997. (We excluded companies with ``General`` in their names.)
The G E N Index was adjusted prospectively for acquisitions, additions and deletions, and now consists of eight companies: Amgen (Nasdaq:AMGN - news), Biogen (Nasdaq:BGEN - news), Genelabs (Nasdaq:GNLB - news), Genset (Nasdaq:GENXY - news), Genzyme (Nasdaq:GENZ - news), Human Genome Sciences (Nasdaq:HGSI - news), Myriad Genetics (Nasdaq:MYGN - news) and Regeneron Pharmaceuticals (Nasdaq:REGN - news).

Biotech Comes Back From Grave

Our speculators are swayed to join the crowds following biotech because of the enormous potential.
Biotech stocks have been slipping back and forth since the beginning of the century like a hog on ice.
The best index for monitoring biotechs is the Biotech HOLDRs trust (Amex:BBH - news), traded on the American Stock Exchange under the symbol BBH. It consists of a market-value weighted index of 20 biotech stocks including Genentech (NYSE
NA - news), Amgen (Nasdaq:AMGN - news), Immunex (Nasdaq:IMNX - news), PE Corp.-PE Biosystems Group (NYSE:PEB - news) and Medimmune (Nasdaq:MEDI - news). It regularly trades 500,000 shares a day with bid-asked spreads averaging about 1/10 of a percent on markets good for 1,000 shares.The index, from about 100 in early December 1999, moved pretty continuously up to 243 on March 3, then fell to 122 on April 24. On June 9, it was back up to 160, falling to 152 yesterday.
The moves of the biotech stocks have not gone unnoticed. Yesterday, undoubtedly for the first time in their history, both BusinessWeek and The New Yorker had lead stories on how scientists are on the verge of unraveling the order of the 3 billion bases that comprise DNA in humans.
Biotech Potential Prods Speculators
We are amateurs in this field as we are in so many others, and hesitate to join the crowd at what would ordinarily seem like the height of hype -- the worst possible time to buy. But the potential arising from the research in this field leads us to overcome our reluctance, especially since we have given up the forecasting game -- something that`s very hard to do indeed in the face of the incredibly bullish scenario that should unfold today after three significant daily consecutive declines in S&P 500 futures.
Most experts believe advances in biotech will lead inevitably to a doubling in human life expectancy for those born 25 years from now, along with the eradication of cancer and heart disease, as well as a general improvement in the quality of life.
Our first step into the fray was yesterday`s publication of the wisdom and stock picks of Frank Linet, a common man -- in fact, a street person not too long ago before a 100-fold increase in his portfolio enabled him to climb into a home of his own and a place in the firmament of the savants we rely on. His five picks yesterday did not buck the 5% decline in the biotech index yesterday, performing as follows:

We are not in the habit of throwing our friends to the lions. Nor do we think it good to be overly discouraged when good stocks go down in a portfolio. Quite the contrary. For example, we have been following a portfolio of 35 beaten stocks that fell this year from above the magnetic North Pole of 200 to below the South Pole of 100.

The G E N Index was adjusted prospectively for acquisitions, additions and deletions, and now consists of eight companies: Amgen (Nasdaq:AMGN - news), Biogen (Nasdaq:BGEN - news), Genelabs (Nasdaq:GNLB - news), Genset (Nasdaq:GENXY - news), Genzyme (Nasdaq:GENZ - news), Human Genome Sciences (Nasdaq:HGSI - news), Myriad Genetics (Nasdaq:MYGN - news) and Regeneron Pharmaceuticals (Nasdaq:REGN - news).

Also ich bin da seit 2,70 Euro drin, das war Dezember letzten Jahres. Und um ehrlich zu sein, der Kursverlauf birgt ein hohes Herzinfarkttisiko. Rein Erfahrungsbedingt tippe ich auf morgige Rücksetzer, welcher durch eben jene Daytrader ausgelöst wird, die heute den Kurs hochgehauen haben. Wenn weitere gute News folgen sollten, könnte sich dies sehr schnell amortisieren.

irgend ein komischer wichtiger Ami abgelassen hat das aus der Firma mal was wird.

bei xoma geht`s wieder aufwärs.. die umsatzzahlen steigen an und zumindest die unterstützung bei 7 euro ist mittlerweile sicher denk ich......kurzfristiges kursziel 10 euro.....
Aber irgendwelche News gibts nicht, oder? Was machen die ganzen Produkte in der Endphase? Was macht die Weiterentwicklung von Neuprex?
