+636 Zinsergebnis
+255 Provisions+Handelsueberschuss, Beratungseinkommen
-365 Betriebl aufwand (Personal etc.)
=526 BETRIEBSERGEBNIS (ohne Wertberichtigungen)
-2236 Wertberichtigungen
=-1710 Ergebnis
Zur Position Unrealized Loss and Gain on Investments:

Zur Position Unrealized Loss and Gain on Investments:

gespannt.

KOMMENTAR ZU BERICHT UEBER NFS IN "THE NATION"
Analysts wary of NF stock while BOT licence pending
NATIONAL Finance Plc`s (NF`s) stock will become attractive only if and when it receives a licence for operating a restricted bank from the Bank of Thailand, analysts said.
They gave their comments after NF and the Lehman Brothers` Global Thai Property Fund recently spent Bt8.4 billion on buying DBS Thai Danu Bank`s bad loans. The loans` total outstanding value is Bt30 billion.
While the bank`s recent move has won praise from analysts for being a wise strategy to write off bad debts and get the bank back on track immediately, NF`s position is seemingly tenuous.
Even though the loan purchase will help build up NF`s position, its stocks are not yet attractive enough for investment, said Isariya Ananrak, analyst at Seamico Securities.
She suggested that investors avoid investing in NF stock, given that the finance company remains under huge pressure to return to profitability.
"There is no encouraging sign of making profits, including its unclear positioning for running businesses," Isariya added.
Investment risk in NF stock is related to uncertainties involving when it will be upgraded as a restricted bank. Trading on NF`s stocks for the time being is expected to be driven by speculative buying according to the stock market sentiment, she said.
In addition, even though NF`s Bt14 billion capital base would help cover irrecoverable loans bought from DTDB, it remains unable to extend new loans in the face of the slowing economic recovery.
Moreover, it will take time before the purchased loans will yield a fruitful return. Even next year, return on the purchased loans is highly unlikely, Isariya said.
Adisak Kammon, analyst at Phillip Securities (Thailand), projected that NF would make profits from the purchased loans in the next three to five years.
"What we are more concerned about is the unclear positioning of NF, particularly at this time when it is still waiting for a restricted bank licence," he noted.
"Over the next 12 months, [NF`s business prospects] are still unpredictable because of pending approval of the licence from the central bank."
With official approval pending, Adisak sees short-term investment in NF stock as a risk. Phillip gives a neutral on NF stock. But in the long term, these stocks should be favourable as the company would run fully integrated businesses, including securities, insurance and mutual funds, analysts said.
Adisak further said that the decision on the purchased loans seems to be a way for NF to seek new income as receiving income from new loan extensions is unlikely at this time.
He said that NF decided to purchase loans for further management as it has to shoulder a huge burden from its recent Bt10-billion recapitalisation.
"NF`s business prospects depends largely on the timing [of receiving the licence]. Investors themselves cannot see a clear picture of its business direction, so they should avoid accumulating its stocks," Adisak said.
Isariya of Seamico also pointed to the fact that NF`s stocks are not worthy of investment because its accumulated loss amounts to as much as Bt5.9 billion, signalling that investors would not receive dividends until the loss is addressed.
Adisak echoed Isariya`s sentiment, noting that accumulated loss in the financial sector normally takes at least three to five years before staging a full recovery, mostly depending on the speed of the country`s economic recovery process. Doing finance business is closely linked to the economic condition, he said.
In the second quarter, NF`s book value stood at Bt12. Although the current market price, closing on Friday at Bt6.50, is lower than the book value, it is not a good time to hold NF stock, he said.

list or not to list, National Finance asks
NATIONAL Finance Plc (NF) faces a big dilemma.
Should it retain itself or Ekachart Finance Plc (EF), its wholly owned subsidiary, as a listed
company to qualify for a restricted bank licence?
The Bank of Thailand (BOT) has made it clear that only one can remain on the stock market.
"The central bank has yet to approve a licence to National Finance Plc for running a restricted
bank, since the cross-holding issue needs to be settled," said BOT governor MR Chatu Mongol
Sonakul. "Hence, [NF] needs to clarify which company will be retained as a listed company and
which company will be delisted."
The BOT had said earlier that it would grant the licence to NF before the current government`s
tenure ends in November. "We have to do so, since we don`t want to defer the problem any
longer," Chatu Mongol said.
According to the company plan, NF has decided to use EF as the core company to apply for
the licence.
If awarded the licence, EF would be renamed Ekachart Bank, while NF would become a holding
company.
NF is the only group in Thailand which has applied for such a licence.
Restricted banks can engage in the same activities as commercial banks but in the initial
stages are prohibited from operating chequing accounts.
To be eligible for a licence, applicants must maintain a minimum capital base of Bt10 billion for
three years. They must also incorporate with at least five financial institutions.
Aside from NF and EF, HSBC Finance Co Ltd, Vanit Credit Foncier Ltd have already been
merged into the group.
Chatu Mongol said that Kiatnakin Finance Plc, which recently acquired Radanatun Finance Co
Ltd, could not list the former on the bourse if it remained listed on the stock market.
The news yesterday dampened NF and EF share prices. NF was off Bt0.20 to close at Bt5.30
while EF was down Bt0.75 to finish at Bt19. In related news, a source at the BOT said the
central bank has no objections to NF`s shareholding in Thai Military Bank.
NF holds about a 3.7 per cent stake, or 150 million shares, of Thai Military Bank. NF took the
shares as part of the Bt40 billion recapitalisation of the bank announced in April of this year.

Thailand`s National Finance Again in the Profit Zone
NFS, which recently received a banking licence, recorded a net profit of THB 147.5 million in Q3 2000. The main source of the profit was a net
interest income of THB 516.0 million. An improved asset quality allowed NFS to reverse provisions amounting to THB 78.8 million. NFS`s NPL
(nonperforming loans) are with 28.7% in the range of most commercial banks, but are substantially better than the average NPL of finance
companies or state-owned banks.
Finally, NFS has completed a full reserve buildup (provisions for NPL). NFS` CAR (capital adequacy ratio), the main indicator for the strength of a
financial institution`s balance sheet, stands at an impressive 23%, nearly 3 times as much as the required minimum of 8.5% and about twice as high
as the CAR of most large commercial banks.
grossen Privatbanken.

Das klingt doch sehr positiv, oder ?

Thai National Fin: Zurich Group Ups Stake In Life Unit
BANGKOK (Dow Jones)--Thailand`s National Finance PCL (H.NFS) said Thursday it has sold an additional 7.5 million shares, or 15%, of National Life
Assurance Co. Ltd. at 16 baht ($1=THB43.624) a share, to a unit of the Switzerland-based Zurich Financial Services Group (Z.ZFS).
After the transaction, and the sale of an additional 10% owned by National group member Ekachart Finance PCL (H.EFS), which was also completed Wednesday,
the Zurich group directly owns 35% of the life assurance company, National Finance said in a filing to the Stock Exchange of Thailand.
National Finance said it now owns just under 50% of National Life Assurance, and Aswin Q. Co. Ltd. owns the remaining 15%. Further information about Aswin
wasn`t immediately available.
As a strategic partner, "Zurich will provide management and technical capabilities to support a business model that provides customer relationship management
through multiple distribution channels," National Finance said in the filing.
National Finance will provide local market access to total financial solutions for customers, it said.
Ekachart Finance - which is in the process of upgrading its operations under a recently-approved restricted bank license - announced in a separate filing the sale of
all of its holdings of 5 million shares in National Life Assurance at the same price of THB16 a share.
Under the new license, Ekachart will be able to offer almost all the services of a regular bank except regular passbook savings accounts.
National Finance is to head the group as a holding company.
Just before official closing prices were calculated Thursday, National Finance shares were up THB0.10, or 2.1%, at THB4.90. Ekachart shares were up THB2.00,
or 10.3%, at THB21.50.

Hi Frakt@l,
mache ruhig weiter.....

Thailand: SET makes good reversal but US markets and Japan spell danger
13th November: The SET has made a very fine reversal pattern. We could not hope for a better one. Target of 320 is valid in the short term. The only major resistance that needs to be passed is the resistance at 300. If that resistance is passed on good volume, we will have a triple bottom reversal with target of around 360. That would give further evidence that the market has reversed the long term bearish trend that commenced in the middle of 1999. We could then hope for a test of the 500 level in the first half of next year.
There is only one warning light flashing: the US markets and Japan. There is the possibility of a big slide on the Nasdaq. Japan is also bearish. A Nasdaq crash would not help the Thai market. Thus a fall below 285 would signal a failure of the current rally. We would then be looking at our target of 240, which has still not been cancelled.
Current Prediction
Short term: a reverse head and shoulders points to 320. Confirmed if the index rallies above 300.
Long term: a head and shoulders top points to 240 on a log scale. Not yet cancelled. But a breakout from a long term falling wedge in mid-October could indicate a bottom at 250. We should wait for further evidence, such as a breakout from the medium term triple bottom with neckline at 300.
SET Finance Sector:
A breakout from a reverse head and shoulders on strong volume suggests a reversal for the sector. (The green oval shows rising volume within a rising wedge, which reduces the threat of this pattern.)
und speziell zu NFS:
A double bottom breakout confirmed by good volume.
