SUNNYVALE, Calif., Jan. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Silicon Image, Inc. (Nasdaq: SIMG - news), a leader in high-bandwidth semiconductor and system solutions for mass markets, today announced that its SiI(TM) 504(TM) digital video processing chip has been designed into Denon`s new DVD-9000 and DVD-A1 progressive-scan DVD players. With these latest wins, Silicon Image is the digital video processor supplier of choice for Denon DVD players offering progressive output. Interlace-to-progressive scan conversion -- otherwise known as deinterlacing -- dramatically improves image quality by eliminating visible scan lines, flicker and other motion and interlacing artifacts.

Stephen Baker, vice president of sales and marketing at Denon, noted, ``We once again selected Silicon Image as the digital video processing supplier for our latest progressive-scan DVD players. Silicon Image`s Pure Progressive(TM) technology performs the best deinterlacing for film source content, resulting in the highest progressive output quality available. The SiI 504 also offers superior price/performance for interlace-to-progressive scan conversion. When coupled with Silicon Image`s excellent customer support and strong roadmap for further video processing innovations, this is an unbeatable combination.``

The SiI 504`s advanced motion adaptive and source adaptive techniques create an output image of incredible detail without introducing the motion and interlacing artifacts commonly associated with other interlace to progressive scan converters. Source Adaptive Processing provides automatic, seamless detection of video sources, whether they be film, video or graphics masters, and Source Transition Management provides smooth transitions between these source types. Setting the SiI 504 apart from other deinterlacing solutions, its proprietary diagonal processing, transition management and post-processing technologies produce high-quality images from even the most noisy and unstable sources.

Jon Kiachian, Silicon Image`s director of product marketing, display products, stated, ``The success of the SiI 504 is testament to our leadership position in the consumer electronics market with video processing products. Building upon the success of the SiI 503, the SiI 504 offers enhanced price/performance for applications requiring the highest quality deinterlacing, such as progressive scan DVD players, set-top boxes, high-definition TVs, A/V monitors and video projectors. Denon in particular has been a proponent of our digital video processing technology, which they`ve incorporated across the board in their leading-edge progressive-scan DVD players.``

The DVD-9000/A1, while featuring the latest from Silicon Image for the best in progressive scan video reproduction, will also incorporate innovative technology for multi-channel audio reproduction. The DVD-9000/A1 will playback not only DVD-Video discs, but also Music CD/CD-R/CD-RW discs, MP3 encoded CD-R/RWs, JPEG-file photo discs and DVD-Audio discs. It is with DVD-Audio that the DVD-9000/A1 will deliver the finest sound quality this high-resolution format provides. With on-board Digital Bass Management, the highest-grade digital-to-analog converters and build quality second to none, the DVD-9000 should become a reference standard for DVD players.

The DVD-9000 and DVD-A1 will begin shipping in Q1 2002. The DVD-9000 will be marketed in the United States, while the DVD-A1 is optimized for the Japan and Asia markets.

Philips Incorporates Silicon Image`s New PanelLink(R) HDCP DTV Controller In New DVI-Enabled Projection TVs Debuted at CES
Silicon Image Launches SiI 907 Enabling Easier and More Secure HDCP Implementation

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Jan. 21 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Silicon Image, Inc. (Nasdaq: SIMG - news), a leader in high-bandwidth semiconductor and system solutions for mass markets, today announced that Philips Consumer Electronics, North America (Atlanta, GA) will incorporate the new SiI(TM) 907(TM) PanelLink® Digital TV (DTV) controller in two new digital rear-projection high-definition TVs, which debuted at CES last week. The SiI 907 will provide Digital Visual Interface (DVI) input with High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) for Philips` new PP9502 Matchline series rear-projection widescreen HD-monitors, which will be available in Spring 2002.

A follow-on to the SiI 905 DTV controller, the SiI 907 features integrated HDCP keys for the most secure HDCP implementation. Eliminating the need to integrate a separate memory chip and HDCP keys also simplifies manufacturers` integration of HDCP, which has been heralded as a key enabler in the DTV revolution. By satisfying Hollywood studios` concerns over the piracy of their copyrighted digital content, DVI with HDCP paves the way for consumers to view premium Hollywood movies in high-definition formats without leaving the comfort of their living room.

Jon Kiachian, director of product marketing, display products, for Silicon Image, stated, ``Consumer electronics manufacturers are concerned about future-proofing their HDTV offerings, so they are increasingly incorporating DVI HDCP capability for the implementation of new display security applications and the viewing of premium video content. Silicon Image is the leader in reliable, high-performance DVI solutions, and we are leading the DVI HDCP initiative in consumer electronics with the most advanced implementations. In addition, we are the only company able to license TMDS(TM) technology, the basis for the DVI specification, for consumer electronics applications.`` Kiachian added, ``We expect to see DVI/HDCP inputs on a number of new consumer electronics products debuting later this year.``

A highly integrated solution for OEM manufacturers, the SiI 907 DTV controller integrates the HDCP keys -- providing the most secure HDCP implementation available while also simplifying manufacturing for OEMs. Featuring an integrated, full-bandwidth PanelLink Digital receiver for proven DVI compatibility, the SiI 907 offers a cost-effective, easy-to-implement architecture for CRT-based displays such as HDTVs. The SiI 907 supports DVI input from 25 MHz to 165 MHz and features a 25-165 MHz triple 10-bit video DAC. Frame rate preservation locks incoming and outgoing frame rates to eliminate temporal artifacts. In addition, the SiI 907 offers robust input jitter tolerance and efficient power management.

The SiI 907 is currently sampling, with general availability in Q2 2002. The SiI 907 is packaged as a 52-pin PLCC and priced at $13.25 in 10K quantities.

Wer weiß mehr, was da läuft?
