The Saskatoba Coal Project is located along the Saskatchewan/Manitoba border, encompassing 10 properties totalling 120,000 hectares (1,200 sq. km). The project is situated in the immediate area of several recent coal discoveries of previously unknown coal intersections varying in thickness from 10m to 100m.
The Saskatoba Coal Project is a joint-venture with Swift Resources Inc. (SWR: TSX.V). Saturn maintains a 60% interest in the project with Swift maintaining the remaining 40%. Saturn is the operator of the project.
The durango trend:
The Saskatoba Project is situated within the 'Durango Coal Trend', a northwest/southeast belt extending throughout the Canadian provinces of Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Regional infrastructure is excellent. The Town of Hudson Bay is located near the center of the project area, from which Provincial Highway 9 and a CN railroad transect. The CN railroad provides access to the port of Churchill, Manitoba. A 230kv power line is also in place in addition to significant water resources.

Saturn Minerals & Swift Resources Announce Coal Discovery at Saskatoba Project
VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Dec. 21, 2009) - Saturn Minerals Inc. – (TSX VENTURE:SMI) ("Saturn") & Swift Resources Inc. – (TSX VENTURE:SWR) ("Swift") (the "Companies"), have intersected a 10.35 meter thick coal seam at a depth of approximately 112 meters on the Companies' Armit property near the town of Hudson Bay, Saskatchewan. The upper 9.74 meters of this intersection contains continuous coal with no mineral partings. A minor, 1.26 meter thick coal seam was also intersected at a depth of 102.7 meters. The discovery hole was drilled vertically and coal zone intervals are estimated to be true thickness. Due to technical difficulties, the discovery hole did not reach target depth and was suspended at a depth of 136 meters in a layer of unconsolidated sand containing coal fragments.
For location, see the map at the following link: http://saturnminerals.com/images/discovery_map.pdf
For photographs: http://saturnminerals.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=…
The discovery was made on drill-hole four of the announced twenty-four drill-hole program of the 2009-2010 winter drilling program (see news release Dec 7). The discovery hole was designed to test one of several priority geophysical targets (hereby referred to as the Leif sub-basin) as identified in the recently completed NI 43-101 Report on the Companies' Saskatoba Coal Project (see news release Nov 23). The Leif sub-basin is approximately 1,700 x 900 m in area, and open to exploration drilling in all directions from the discovery hole.
The first three holes were drilled on the Companies' Erwood property. The first hole was terminated in the Devonian carbonate rocks at 205 meters and encountered two minor coal seams (0.87 and 1.80 meters thick respectively). The subsequent two holes did not reach target depths and had to be abandoned due to technical problems.
The Companies caution against placing undue reliance on the visual observations of the coal intercepts until the results of analytical work have been announced. A down-hole geophysical survey is also being completed on all holes and adjustments to coal seam thickness and depth may occur when reporting final results.
The drill program has been suspended for the season and will resume in early January with the completion of the discovery hole and the drilling of the remaining priority geophysical targets in Saskatchewan.
The drill program is being conducted under the supervision of North Rim Exploration Ltd. of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan in consultation with Dr. Krzysztof Mastalerz, the Companies' qualified person under NI 43-101 standards who has reviewed and approved the technical content of this release.
Kluane Drilling Ltd. of Whitehorse, Yukon, is providing all drilling services for the project.

1-2 meinungen ausm canad. board:
SMI/SWR could be on the "motherlode" as you call it, and GXS might be smaller. Too early too know. SWR/SMi hit coal on hole #4......alot of holes too go.
http://www.stockhouse.com/Bullboards/MessageDetail.aspx?p=0&…
The discovery hole was the first hole they drilled in that area, so there's lots of potential there. I don't think it's just an isolated occurance. How big it is, how continuous, and how thick it gets is anybody's guess, but where there's smoke, there's fire, so I'm waiting to see confirmation and expansion of the resource in January.

Much better than GXS
SMI has a much better chance of multipleing than GXS.Management is ten times better organized and they have a plan.Meanwhile over at GXS the diamond explores / now energy power plant exports keep on stumpling and the share price tells the story.

Saturn Minerals & Swift Resources Resume Drill Program in Saskatchewan
VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA, Jan 19, 2010 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX News Network) --
Saturn Minerals Inc. (TSX VENTURE: SMI) ("Saturn") & Swift Resources Inc. (TSX VENTURE: SWR) ("Swift") (the "Companies") have resumed drilling on the Armit block of the Saskatoba project located near Hudson Bay, Saskatchewan. The 15 hole diamond drill program is designed to test geophysical anomalies similar in nature to 'Goldsource style' coal deposits as identified in the recently completed NI 43-101 report (see news release, dated Nov 23). Drilling of 4 holes in December 2009 by the Companies resulted in the Leif coal discovery (see news release, dated Dec 21).
Leif sub-basin
The first of the high priority geophysical anomalies drilled in December 2009 (hereafter referred to as the Leif sub-basin) resulted in the successful intersection of a 10.35m coal seam at a depth of approximately 112 meters on the Companies' Armit property. The discovery hole did not reach the Devonian basement rocks before the holiday break due to technical difficulties. The Leif sub-basin is approximately 1,700 x 900 m in area, and open for exploration drilling in all directions from the discovery hole. The Company plans to drill several step-out holes from the discovery hole to identify the extent of coal within the Leif sub-basin.
Additional anomalies
The Companies will drill test the remaining geophysical anomalies located on the Armit property which the Companies have been permitted for which are similar in nature to the Leif sub-basin to determine both the presence of significant coal and the possible relationship between individual sub-basins. Selected geophysical anomalies located on the Armit property which display significantly wider lateral extents than the Leif sub-basin will also be drill tested.
The drill program is being conducted in conjunction with North Rim Exploration Ltd. of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, and the Companies' field geologist Alex Walus, P.Geo, and Dr. Krzysztof Mastalerz, P.Geo, the Companies' qualified person under 43-101 standards who has reviewed and approved the technical content of this release.
The Companies also announce that pursuant to the Stock Option Plans of Saturn and Swift, Saturn has granted 2,200,000 stock options at the price of $0.17 per common share and Swift has granted 400,000 stock options at the price of $0.28 per common share to employees, directors, advisors and consultants. Under the Saturn Stock Option Plan and the Swift Stock Option Plan, the options granted are exercisable until January 19, 2015.
Grant of the option is subject to the approval of the TSX Venture Exchange.
