Canal Digital - Interactive
From the autumn of 2000 and throughout 2001 Canal Digital expects that content providers who currently provide content on TV, Teletext and Internet, will develop Enhanced TV and Magazine Services for Canal Digital’s interactive digital TV offer.
Whether it is sports, news, weather, directories, a magazine version of a newspaper or other applications, the wrapping is a simple, interactive user interface via the remote control.

The Electronic Wallet
The first version of smart card based payments will be the electronic wallets issued by the banks. Canal Digital has already concluded agreements with major Norwegians banks relating to this and expects to do the same with banks in the other Nordic countries.

Interactive Advertising
Digital TV technology gives the opportunity for advertising inserted on the screen from the decoder rather than from the TV studio. The TV channels and advertisers will be able to invite the TV user to interact and respond to commercials via the remote control..


Shopping
The remote control and the return channel via the telephone line give the TV user a possibility to go shopping via the TV set and digital decoder. Travel, CD’s, books, consumer electronics and insurance are currently the most popular categories for electronic shopping.

Mail
Each decoder is individually addressable. The number of mail messages delivered via Internet and Mobile phones is rapidly increasing. The TV is an excellent place to check mail messages both in term of ease of use, rapid access and good display.

Nordic Television Distribution
1. Through Canal Digital, a 50/50 joint venture between Telenor and Canal Plus, we distribute packages of analogue and digital channels to over 350,000 direct to home subscribers in the Nordic Countries (Norway, Finland, Sweden and Denmark), with SMS and call centres in each country.
2. Through Telenor Vision we distribute packages of analogue channels to over 750,000 SMATV (Satellite Master Antenna TV) subscribers in the Nordic Countries, with SMS and call centres in each country.

3. Through Telenor Avidi, (own cable network) we distribute packages of analogue channels to over 240,000 subscribers in Norway.


Pan-European Television Distribution

1. Telenor Broadband Services has Offices (wholly owned) in London, Bratislava, Prague, Warsaw, Vienna, Hooftdorp (Netherlands), Sofia, Vienna, Norway and Stockholm, building up television distribution expertise, especially in central and eastern Europe. SMS Services for the region will initially be performed out of Norway, and subsequently, locally.

2. Telenor provides Pan-European distribution and SMS for a number of state broadcaster channels, including Norway, Finland and Denmark, as well as BBC Prime, Prime TV (Pakistan) and ORT International (Russia) using the SMS and customer services in Oslo.

Zonavi - Telenor`s new Nordic initiative for Interactive TV
Telenor has established a new company, Zonavi, which will develop content and new services for interactive television based on broadband technologies. Zonavi will initially focus on the 1.7 million households in the Nordic region that already buy TV services from Telenor and Canal Digital. They will utilise the large bandwidth of the TV distribution networks and offer content such as entertainment, goods and services, based on transfer of high quality moving pictures and sounds. Zonavi`s services will from the outset focus on TV media, but will be made available through other media as the data transfer capacity of those networks is increased. The initial interactive TV offering will include home shopping, information, gaming and messaging services.

Satellite Data and Internet Broadcasting by Telenor

The Telenor digital TV platform is equipped with the capability for satellite data and
internet broadcasting. Together with Telenor Nextel (an ISP in Scandinavia) and Canal
Digital, we will be developing a content offering for launch in the Nordic countries in
2000. The service will be delivered either to the consumer set top box or to a PC using
a plug and play PC card satellite receiver and application, and will use the terrestrial
telephone network for the return path in the first instance.

so, nun für heute der letzte Beitrag ( aus einer norwegischen Zeitung, gefunden unter www.digitoday.no )schwer zu lesen, da norwegisch, aber wichtig die Bemerkung am Ende des Artikels: Zonavi ist noch in Verhandlung mit mehreren anderen Firmen.

Alles verstehe ich allerdings zugegebenermaßen auch nicht, bin ja kein Norweger, hab`aber mal versucht, die adhoc-Meldung zu inter-nordic in Norwegen nachzuvollziehen. Es scheint so, als sei der Begriff inter-nordic frei erfunden, als Synonym für das zu gründende Konsortium, welches dann aber wohl ganz anders heißen wird.

Für Telenor als einer der Beteiligten spricht auch die Expansion nach Polen. Weiterhin dürfte die Nordic-Baltic-Holding ein Partner im Inter-Nordic Konsortium sein. Ein Indiz ist ebenfalls die Expansion nach Polen.

Jede Wette: Nach Inter-Nordic kommt demnächst Inter-Baltic mit den gleichen Patnern und mit Polen als zentralem Ausgangspunkt.

Telenor regner med å være på banen med interaktiv tv sent neste år. Men mye gjenstår før folk får Tormod Hermansens (bildet) interaktive tilbud hjem i stuen.

– Vi skal ikke legge ut Internett-sider på tv-en til folk, men skape ekte interaktivt innhold med video og lyd. En rekke støttesystemer skal også på plass, noe som gjør at vi og våre partnere bare har den tiden vi trenger, sier operations manager Tine Austvoll Jensen i Telenor-eide Zonavi.

Telenor lanserte forrige uke sitt nye bredbånds-selskap Zonavi. Zonavi skal bygge interaktiv tv og sørge for at det kommer hjem i stuen til folk over Telenors nettverk.

Foreløpig er det ifølge digi.no bare Yatack som har offentliggjort avtale med Zonavi om å presentere sin butikk på tv. Zonavi er også i forhandlinger med flere andre aktører, skriver digi.no.
