... steigt RAMTRON (925 171 – Berlin). Heute + 16,79 % (!)

Gute Nacht sagt Yamster

Hey Speeds!

Interessante Links:
FRAM is a new type of ram for those that don`t know. It has the speed of DRAM (found in your computer). But has lower power requirements than and the ability to retain data with-out power like flash ram (found in your cell phone, mp3 players, or digital camera).
Here are some links i`ve gathered and should help anyone with questions.
Forbes gives lots of good information on FRAM. Talks about all the companies involved as well as some history about this market.

Samsung is producing a 32 meg FRAM targeted towards cell phones. In the past, FRAM chips only had 16 kilobit and was used in smart cards and other small memory products.

Heute good News:
Ramtron Announces Note Conversion, 13D Filing and Warrant Exercises
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., Mar 3, 2000 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Ramtron International
Corporation (Nasdaq: RMTR), a leading developer of specialty memory products,
today announced three unrelated financial transactions that improve the
company`s capital structure.
First, Dimensional Fund Advisors has elected to convert its $3.4-million note,
including accrued interest, into Ramtron common shares at a conversion rate of
$5.00 per share, in accordance with the provisions of its July 1999 loan to the
company. This note was due to be paid on July 31, 2000, but will now be retired
with the $3.4 million recorded as additional paid-in capital.
Second, the NTC Liquidating Trust recently filed a 13D/A7 report with the
Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), disclosing that its beneficial
ownership has decreased from 1,198,891 shares to 396,387 shares, or 2.83%, of
Ramtron common stock. The NTC Liquidating Trust`s remaining beneficial ownership
position includes warrants to purchase 372,243 common shares at an exercise
price of $5.00 per share with an expiration date of August 31, 2002.
Third, the first of the 14 investors in the company`s $5.4-million private
placement that closed on December 13, 1999, has exercised 52,500 warrants, the
exercise price of which was $10.81 per common share, as specified in the
placement memorandum. Net proceeds to the company were $568,000, with 52,500
additional common shares being issued.
"We believe all of these changes in Ramtron`s capital structure are beneficial
to our shareholders," said L. David Sikes, chairman and CEO of Ramtron. "We
continue to work diligently to strengthen our balance sheet and access the
capital required to grow our business."

Hallo Leute,
wieder verstärkt an FERAMS gearbeitet.

About 8x8, Inc.
Company Description
8x8 is a leading manufacturer of digital telecommunication products, including
both central office and customer premise equipment for Internet Protocol (IP)
telephony. By leveraging its vertically integrated technology, the Company
provides complete IP telephony solutions to service providers such as local
exchange carriers (LECs) and cable TV system operators, and to
telecommunications equipment manufacturers.
The Company operates within two segments: Broadband Telephony and Video
Monitoring.
Within the Broadband Telephony segment, 8x8 manufactures IP telephony
equipment, with an emphasis on bringing IP telephony to the `edge of the
network,` that is, directly to users. The Company`s marketing strategy focuses
on selling complete IP telephony solutions, including central office
management software and customer premise equipment, to telephone service
providers such as incumbent local exchange carriers (ILECs), competitive
local exchange carriers (CLECs) and Internet service providers (ISPs). In
addition, the Company intends to promote high-volume manufacturing of IP
telephony products that are synergistic with its solutions by licensing its
vertically integrated technology to original equipment manufacturers and
third-party developers of telephony applications.
Within the Video Monitoring segment, the Company markets its Remote
Surveillance Module (RSM) line of branded system products to dealers and
distributors of security products for small businesses such as convenience
stores and restaurants. 8x8`s monitoring system products are highly
integrated and rely on the Company`s expertise in communications processor
design, video and audio compression algorithms, network protocols, and
cost-effective manufacturing.
Business Strategy
The breadth of 8x8`s technology - from IP telephony semiconductors to
gateways to telephony server software - places the Company in a prime
position to capitalize on the transition from switched-circuit communications
technology to converged IP networks for voice, data and video.
For example, 8x8 has used its Audacity™ Internet Telephony Processor, a
combination protocol and signal processor on a single chip, to build its
Symphony™ voice over IP (VoIP) Module. This module enables customers to
connect inexpensive analog telephones to IP networks, substantially lowering
the cost of building IP telephony systems.
To switch telephone calls between Symphonies on a network, 8x8`s
subsidiary, Odisei S.A. is developing a software package called the
IntraSwitch™ IP-PBX. This software is a highly scalable, Java-based solution
for managing VoIP networks. When used in conjunction with Symphony
Modules, IntraSwitch provides advanced IP-PBX features, such as call
forwarding, remote pickup, call routing and voice mail. For service providers,
IntraSwitch offers a low-cost, low-maintenance platform for delivering complete
telephony services.

-Very good news:FUJITSU AND RAMTRON DEVELOP LOW-COST,
HIGH-DENSITY FRAM MEMORY ARCHITECTURE
Milestone triggers two-million-dollar license payment to Ramtron
COLORADO SPRINGS, CO, March 13, 2000 – Ramtron International Corporation (Nasdaq: RMTR) and Fujitsu Limited announced today that the companies have successfully developed a production-worthy ferroelectric random access memory (FRAM®) architecture that they expect will fuel the introduction of a new line of high-density FRAM memory products. The next-generation architecture, which uses an advanced one-transistor/one-capacitor (1T/1C) memory cell design, is expected to enable the development of megabit-class FRAM memories while significantly lowering their production cost. The companies have built a 1-megabit prototype FRAM memory device to demonstrate the new architecture. FRAM memory is a breakthrough semiconductor memory technology that combines the advantages of many memory technologies into a single device. Due to its fast read/write speed and ability to store information without power, FRAM memory is ideal for use in a broad range of applications including portable, hand-held electronic devices.
Demonstration of the 1-megabit, 1T/1C FRAM product prototype has triggered a two-million-dollar milestone payment to Ramtron under its licensing and development agreement with Fujitsu. Ramtron plans to use the new architecture to develop megabit-class FRAM memory products that are currently being defined.
Kazunari Shirai, electronic devices group president and Fujitsu board member said, "As with Flash memory, Fujitsu expects to establish a strong leadership position in the rapidly emerging FRAM memory market. We anticipate that this market will grow to more than $10 billion by 2005 and Fujitsu is targeting to be the major market supplier of these advanced semiconductor devices."
"Our fabless IP model, which has been focused on our collaborative efforts with Fujitsu, continues to produce results as evidenced by the attainment of this important development milestone," said L. David Sikes, Ramtron chairman and CEO.
Hidetoshi Nishi, Fujitsu`s FRAM project general manager said, "We are pleased to reach this important milestone. It will open up a whole new category of product opportunities for Fujitsu and Ramtron."
"Fujitsu has made an outstanding contribution to the success of our high-density development efforts," said Greg Jones, Ramtron president and COO. "We expect further progress as we collaborate to commercialize our existing inventions and develop new FRAM technology improvements."
Within its portfolio of over 190 issued patents protecting its proprietary technologies, Ramtron has 10 patents covering the newly developed one-transistor/one-capacitor FRAM architecture.
Fujitsu/Ramtron Partnership History
Fujitsu and Ramtron began working together in 1996 when they entered into a high-density FRAM technology development and licensing agreement. In addition to mainstream memory product development activities, the companies are collaborating to develop specialized ICs such as microcontrollers and application-specific integrated circuits with embedded FRAM memory. Ramtron/Fujitsu products will be produced at Fujitsu`s new high-volume FRAM manufacturing facility in Iwate, Japan.
In addition to Fujitsu, Ramtron has FRAM licensing and manufacturing agreements with top semiconductor producers including Hitachi, Toshiba and Rohm. The agreements provide for royalty payments and manufacturing capacity that can be utilized by Ramtron to develop its own product business. The company also has FRAM licensing and/or development agreements with Samsung, ULVAC and Asahi Chemical.

hey schlaft Ihr denn alle?

Super Nachrichten Speeds.

This afternoon I called RMTR and spoke to Mike Alwais, a VP in the FRAM division.
He was very upbeat about today`s announcement, and he explained it to me in greater detail:
They currently have a non-exclusive agreement with Fujitsu wherein Fujitsu will produce 2,500 to 7,500 6-inch wafers per month.
That translates to $15,000,000 to $22,000,000 per month in revenues to Fujitsu.
The royalty to RMTR is 4% this year, 3.5% next year, declining 1/2 % each year until 2005, upon which time the agreement may be renegotiated.
(So even at the low end 4% X $15,000,000 = $600,000/month X 3 = $1,800,00/quarter, a 25% over last quarter`s revenues.)
This agreement is likely to be the least lucrative of the agreements they expect to sign, as Fujitsu received favorable terms for their research and development assistance, and the deal is non-exclusive.
He said that if Fujitsu decides they would desire exclusivity RMTR will require they increase production capacity to a minimum of 14,000 to 21,000 6-inch wafers per month, and increase the royalty to 6% to 9%.
Mr. Alwais believes that their patents touch all of the projected $10 billion FRAM market, and they expect that by 2005 they will receive 2.5% to 5% in royalties of the annual sales of FRAM.
(At the top of that range that works out to $500 million per year, or about $37/share in sales. Baby Rambus, indeed, I was thinking.)
They will be announcing more deals in the month ahead: either a renegotiated deal with Fujitsu (with more production) or another partner who can add capacity.
Enjoy the ride to $100....
