      Ich habe auf die erwartet Info´s gewartet und heute bekommen.Hoffe, Du bist zufrieden damit.
      Hier habe ich fresh info´s of today von Rokus van Iperen
      Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors . Wie ich bereits früher mitgeteilt habe, ist die Aktie niedrig bewertet. Die Restrukturierung ist abgeschlossen, daß Jahr 1999 war sehr gut und Aussichten sind sehr gut, zumal "In May 1999, Océ acquired a majority interest--85 per cent--in the Nippon Steel Calcomp Corporation, a profitable Japanese firm with per annum revenues of almost 100 million guilders.       Ladies and gentlemen,

      The year 1999 was another outstanding year for Océ. I know that you may have heard otherwise. But let me repeat that: Océ had an excellent year. In 1998 we achieved record profits; in 1999 we exceeded those figures by a couple per cent. Considering the turbulent developments in our markets, this is an outstanding performance. In 1998 more than 45 per cent of our revenues were derived from digital products; in 1999 that figure was more than 50 per cent. We have every reason to be proud of this progress.

      To fully appreciate what I mean, however, you have to know a bit about our industry, about Océ and about our products. And I realise that that is not so simple, especially in an industry that is changing so rapidly.

      Allow me, therefore, to briefly sketch the context in which you should view our results.

      Océ is active in three markets:

      The wide-format market (and here we are talking about really big sheets of paper and plastic)
      The high-volume printing market (large machines that turn out a thousand prints per minute, with every print being different and with no mistakes)
      And the office market (this, as concerns Océ, means machines that can produce between 45 and 100 prints per minute)
      Bear in mind that these are three very different markets requiring very different products. Each market has its own unique dynamics and each requires a distinct approach. We compete in all three.

      So where do we stand in these markets?

      Océ has a leading position in both the high-volume printer market and the wide-format printer market. Indeed, we are the market leaders in terms of both market share and product range! The combined revenues of these two markets account for more than 50 per cent of our total revenues and both are virtually 100 per cent digital by definition. Thanks to this leading position, we were able to maintain profitability at a consistently high level last year.


      In the more turbulent office market, Océ concentrates on the higher volume segments. In these segments, our products and services represent a higher added value, so the pressure on prices is somewhat less cut-throat than in the lower volume segments. The transition to digital is revolutionising this market. Océ is actively involved in this transition, and is achieving major successes thanks to our digital product assortment. Here, we are capitalising on the technologies and experiences that we have developed in our other two business units.
      For all these reasons, ladies and gentlemen, we fully expect to achieve stronger growth in both revenues and profits again in 2000. I will return to this topic in a moment. But first, I want to look at our 1999 results in more detail.

      Revenues increased by 3 per cent to over 2.8 billion Euro. Net profit from ordinary business operations, before deducting extraordinary costs, increased by 2 per cent to 132 million Euro. This is the highest profit ever booked in the history of Océ. From this amount, 55 million Euro will be subtracted to cover the costs of the reorganisation.

      As I said, our revenues grew by 3 per cent. Calculated at fixed exchange rates and excluding take-overs, this amounted to a revenues increase of 1 per cent, falling behind last year`s 7 per cent rate of growth. Acquisitions contributed a further 1 per cent increase in revenues. In May 1999, Océ acquired a majority interest--85 per cent--in the Nippon Steel Calcomp Corporation, a profitable Japanese firm with per annum revenues of almost 100 million guilders. This has given Océ a solid starting position in the Japanese wide-format printer market, estimated to be about 40 per cent the size of the European market.

      The influence of exchange rates was limited but positive, contributing 1 per cent to revenues. This varied considerably during the course of the year, ranging from minus 3 per cent in the first quarter to plus 5 per cent in the fourth.

      In the wide-format printer market, growth in revenues faltered for the following reasons:

      After several years of success, the market segments of the Océ 9800 and Océ 9400 are becoming fairly saturated. On top of that, competition increased.


      Deliveries of the Océ 9600, our mid-volume printer/copier, only really got going in the second half of the year.
      Thanks to a strong finish in the fourth quarter, when we achieved full-scale delivery of the Océ 9600, and to advantageous exchange rates and take-over effects, our revenues still increased by 1 per cent.

      The biggest changes are happening in the office market. As I mentioned before, the transition from analogue to digital in this market really accelerated in 1999. Our revenues from analogue sales are declining, but not as rapidly as analogue revenues in the market as a whole.

      Océ revenues from digital sales are increasing faster than the market average. However, because we are no longer the only ones selling digital printers/copiers in the 60 prints per minute segment, our revenues and margins are under more pressure than they had been in previous years.

      Finally, sales to our partner in the United States declined significantly because of excess stock build-ups in late 1998. By late 1999, however, sales to our American partner had started to recover. Despite all these factors, our revenues in the office market were excellent. We can attribute this mainly to sales of the digital Océ 3165 family.

      Facility Services grew at a healthy rate of 35 per cent by addressing the growing trend among our customers` to outsource document management with a solid range of products and services.

      We had an excellent year in the high-volume printing market. Revenues rose by 9 per cent. This increase occurred both in the classic EDP segment and in the new Printing & Publishing segment, in both fanfold and rapid cutsheet printers. Thanks to this growth, we have once again strengthened our position in the printer market compared to our competitors.

      All in all, then, we have had an excellent year! But are we satisfied? No! In 2000, we will have to show even stronger growth in revenues and profits. But how do we plan to achieve this?

      First of all, we will generate higher revenues thanks to new digital products. Products like the Océ 3145 and the Océ 8465 in the office market. And the faster Océ 9400 and the Océ 9600 in the wide-format market--and we must not forget our new software applications. On top of that, we will increase our revenues in the high-volume printer market in 2000 by continually updating and upgrading our product range.
      In addition to this, we will also increase our revenues in the new, fast growing market segments of Printing & Publishing, Network Printing, Display Graphics and Facility Services. We now have the right organisations in place to take advantage of these opportunities, and we have the products.
      We will continue our growth in the United States. In addition to distribution via our partner IKON, we will expand our own sales network.
      Thanks to our on-going worldwide reorganisation, our annual cost levels will be structurally reduced by approximately 60 million Euro. An important part of these reductions will be achieved in the current year. A large percentage of the 1000 supernumerary employees have already left the company.
      If the economic and monetary prospects also remain favourable, then only something really unusual will prevent a stronger increase in our revenues and profits.
      Finally, ladies and gentlemen, I would like to devote a few words to Océ`s position as a supplier of digital products. 60 per cent of our equipment and service revenues were digital. In the high-volume printer market, which is 100 per cent digital, Océ`s market share is 25 per cent, making it one of the top three companies in the world. Océ is also the worldwide leader in the wide-format printer market, where 70 per cent of our revenues are generated by sales of digital equipment and services. And today, three years after we introduced our first digital printer/copier, almost 30 per cent of our equipment and service revenues in the office market come from digital.

      This means that Océ now occupies a solid position as a supplier of digital products and services. What are we doing to strengthen that position even more?

      To start with, in the next few quarters we will add more digital products to our range that will further distinguish us in the marketplace. I refer to the Océ DPS 400, a 100 print per minute digital printer/copier that we will launch at the next CeBIT, in a few weeks time. In the second half of this year we will introduce the successors to our successful high-volume printer/copier, the Océ 9800, and our low-volume printer/copier, the Océ 9400.

      You can expect to see the launch of our long-awaited colour copier/printer in 2001. In the same year, we intend to introduce an 85 print per minute digital printer/copier and a dedicated printer version. And we will continue to update our high-volume printing product range as well.

      In short, after two relatively lean years, a steady stream of new, digital products will be rolling off the Océ assembly line in 2000 and 2001.

      Printers, however, are only part of the story at Océ, ladies and gentlemen.

      Digitising document flows involves more than replacing analogue copiers, which still work with lenses and mirrors, with printers. No, it involves much more than that!

      Software and IT services are increasingly important in our offering to our customers and account for a larger share of our revenues. Today, 50 per cent of Océ revenues are generated by equipment sales and 50 per cent by service, mainly equipment maintenance. In the future, those figures will change significantly. And services in the future mean much more than simply maintenance.

      Let me explain that by showing you a few slides.






      In today`s office, documents are created in digital format. They are stored in digital format, or they might be sent to other users on the Internet or via an internal network.
      The Océ proposition begins with software that allows you to handle documents in digital format.

      Scanning from analogue to digital


      Scan-to-file, so that you can save and retrieve documents on your computer


      Scan-to-print, so that you can print documents on whichever printer you choose
      If you want one or more printouts, Océ will supply software that enables you to run a print-job from your computer workstation. You can choose short runs, long runs or colour runs. Preferably on an Océ printer, but you can use others as well.


      This is a simplified description of our product range. We supply these and more extensive digital solutions of this kind not only to office environments, but also to the wide-format printer market and the high-volume printer market. It goes without saying that solutions of this nature require partner products. That`s why we`ve entered into strategic partnerships with such industry leaders as Adobe, IBM, SAP, Origin, Intergraph and many others.

      It will be obvious, ladies and gentlemen, that we can only install such document systems if we also offer a number of other, associated services: analysis, consultancy, installation, applications software, training, support and so on. In short, the printer is the core of our product range--after all, we are printer specialists--but the most added value for our customers is now shifting to software and IT services.

      In five years time, software and IT services will account for 80 per cent of our revenues, and pure equipment sales for only 20 per cent.

      Ladies and gentlemen,

      Océ has had a difficult year, but in spite of the setbacks our net profits from ordinary business operations exceeded our record profits of 1998. Yet our ambitions are greater still. We have everything we need to reach our goal: to be a leading enterprise in the field of document systems and services.

      My colleagues and I are determined to achieve this goal and to remain global leaders in our industry.

      Océ prints Handelsblatt News at CeBIT 2000

      Printing on Demand - for fast-moving newspapers
      Ever tried to fold a computer screen and pop it in your coat pocket? That`s just one reason why the good old newspaper is in no danger of dying out. But newspapers are evolving; they are becoming faster, more varied and more tightly oriented to a specific target audience. These trends owe much to innovation in production technology. Instead of large, central printing shops, publishers can use high performance digital printing systems for the complete newspaper production process - and have the papers printed locally, where they are actually needed.

      In co-operation with the Handelsblatt business newspaper, the Océ Production Printing Systems business unit staged a presentation at CeBIT 2000 to show how this works in real-life. Every day during the CeBIT, Océ booth 1d1 in Hall 1 was transformed into a print shop for the evening paper Handelsblatt News am Abend. Published in compact A4 format, the newspaper will feature the latest news in politics, business and the world of finance. The Handelsblatt online news team will be taking care of the editorial side, and the paper will be marketed by the publisher as an independent promotional vehicle for a particular target audience. The digital technology that creates the Handelsblatt News pages and prints them at decentral locations makes the time-to-reader astoundingly short - for the makers of classical newspapers, the speed of delivery is the stuff dreams are made of. The copy deadline was 2 p.m. in Düsseldorf. Just half an hour later, CeBIT visitors could pick up the first of the 1,000 copies that Océ printed daily at its booth. The newspaper was produced in its entirety on an Océ 8465 high performance printing system with an integrated corner stapler. During the flagship event for the IT industry, the evening Handelsblatt News am Abend was also be available at the newspaper`s own partner booths and at Laatzen rail station.

      The CeBIT PoD initiative is part of a recently-signed co-operation between the Düsseldorf-based publishing group Handelsblatt GmbH and Océ. Every day, the editorial staff sends the ready-to-print Handelsblatt News pages as PostScript files to a service centre that distributes the data to five printing locations across Germany. There, the newspaper is printed on Océ high performance printing systems, automatically finished and sent out by courier to the end customers. The paper is distributed to its target audience of business people via hotel chains and other service providers that have intensive contact with customers.

      The German press market has numerous players, so a move like this is bound to command a good deal of attention. Other publishers are also considering PoD editions, a development that has long since been forecasted by Océ. Sebastian Landesberger, CEO of Océ Deutschland GmbH, says: "Printing on Demand is only at the beginning of its career here in Germany. In the print sector, the only real growth will be in niche markets, and distributed PoD production scenarios are ideal for these corridors.

      Zwei Fragen habe ich :
      Was machen sie Copierer
      und wieso ist der Kurs seit April gefallen ? weil die Umstellung auf das digitale Zeitalter etwas spät, jedoch nicht zu spät, gemeistert wurde.
