Lukoil and Genoil Sign Testing Agreement to Upgrade Komi Oil at Genoil Upgrader
CALGARY, Alberta--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 2, 2004--Genoil (OTC Bulletin Board:GNOLF) (TSX VENTURE:GNO) has signed an agreement with Lukoil for the testing of its heavy oil from the Yarega oil field in Russia`s Komi Republic. Genoil will upgrade the Komi oil at its hydrogen addition Upgrader located near Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Lukoil will be airlifting its oil within two weeks directly to Edmonton for immediate testing to demonstrate the capabilities and value of Genoil`s upgrading process on heavy oil from the Yarega region.
Lukoil is the second largest oil company in the world based on proven reserves of hydrocarbons and the sixth largest oil company worldwide. Lukoil controls 19% of Russian oil production and 19% of the country`s refining capacity.
The Yarega oil field is located 1,500 kilometres Northeast of Moscow. Yarega has significant heavy oil deposits which Lukoil is interested in upgrading as quickly as possible.
Lukoil-Komi, a wholly owned subsidiary of Lukoil headquartered in the Komi Republic, has signed the testing agreement with Genoil. Lukoil-Komi will be paying all costs for transportation, testing and lab verification of the results from Genoil`s Upgrader.
If the tests prove satisfactory, the two companies may enter negotiations regarding the possible design and construction of a field GHU (Genoil Hydroconversion Upgrader) for heavy oil at Lukoil`s Yarega facility.
