Bzgl der Produktionskosten heißt es: "Once operational, Windimurra has the potential to become one of the world’s lowest cost vanadium producers."
The vanadium mineralisation occurs within a magnetite rich horizon, the Sheppard's Discordant Zone, located on the eastern side of a large gabbroic intrusion known as the Windimurra complex. The magnetite horizon extends for a strike length of >25 km, of which only 7 km has been tested by exploration drilling. Much of the magnetite horizon is weathered to an extent of 40 m."
Road access to the mine is via the Great Northern Highway to Mt Magnet and then via all-weather roads to the mine site.
The Midwest Natural Gas Pipeline supplies natural gas directly into the mine. Both natural gas and diesel can be used for power generation and to fuel the large rotary kiln.
Regular one hour charter flights connect the site to Perth.
On site construction accommodation for 120 people is complete. In addition, permanent accommodation units for 140 people have been purchased.
In dieser Woche soll es weitere Informationen hierzu geben ("A further announcement on the debt placement is expected to be made next week," hieß es am letzten Freitag.
"Windimurra now has the principal environmental approvals necessary to reconstruct and commence operation of the Windimurra vanadium mine. While the original Windimurra mine received environmental approval in 1998, the design for the reconstruction of the mine contained a number of process improvements that were yet to be approved. Windimurra has received a Section 45C Non Substantial Change approval notice from the Environmental Protection Authority for these process improvements.
Managing Director Scott said the combination of the Section 45 notice and the earlier 1998 approval meant Windimurra now has the principal environmental approvals necessary to reconstruct and commence operation of the mine."
Off-take Agreement
Sicherlich ein wesentliches Highlight. Noble Group hat eine Abnahmegarantie für den gesamten Minen-Output gegeben "at prevailing market prices for the life of the mine." "Under the terms of the agreement, Noble will purchase the vanadium production, develop sales to end user companies and co-ordinate the logistics for the delivery of the product to customers. Importantly, Noble will assume all credit risk for the sales to customers. The agreement also includes a floor price guarantee for the first 7 years of the project of the greater of market price or the cost of production."

Windimurra Vanadium has taken another major step toward production at its flagship vanadium project in WA’s Mid West, having secured a $US127.5 million debt financing arrangement.
Windimurra Managing Director Dr Iain Scott said the Company was pleased to advise that it has executed all documentation, including security documentation, in respect of the debt financing. “This is a significant achievement for Windimurra and its shareholders – particularly in the current global credit market - and is testimony to the strength of the project’s fundamentals,” Dr Scott said.
“The funding means we will continue with full confidence in the redevelopment of the Windimurra Vanadium project and toward planned production in the second half of this year,” Dr Scott said.
Windimurra, located 600km north east of Perth, is based on one of the largest proven vanadium reserves in the world with initial mine life of 20 years. Once operational, it has the potential to make Windimurra Vanadium one of the world’s lowest cost vanadium producers.
The Company is pleased to advise it had strong financial commitment from Merrill Lynch, as well as global logistics leader and marketing partner Noble Group. The two organisations have participated at a significant level in the US$127.5 million (approximately A$145 million) debt placement.
Windimurra’s Financial Director Garry Korte confirmed; “This financing together with the recently announced A$54.8 million fully underwritten entitlement issue represents the entire A$200m funding package necessary to fully fund the development of the Windimurra project and is a key milestone in its development.”
During the past six months, Windimurra has successfully completed a number of major operational steps in the development of its world class vanadium project.
“We have secured all environmental approvals, have put in place key supply contacts including for gas, and have signed a $300 million service contract to build and operate the beneficiation plant which is now underway,” Dr Scott said.
“With the debt financing arrangements now secure and the forthcoming entitlement issue fully underwritten we remain on track to bring the project into production, establish the Company as a major global vanadium supplier and drive real value for our shareholders,” Dr Scott said.

"Windimurra is completing a A$200 Mio funding package which aims to take the project into production 2008. Windimurra said it had adjusted its funding arrangements to allow for an increased portion of equity versus debt."

Windimurra Vanadium advises it has issued a Prospectus for a non-renounceable entitlement issue, to raise approximately $54.8 million for the development of its world-class vanadium project in the WA’s Mid West. The Prospectus for the entitlement issue, which was announced on 4 January 2008, will be lodged with the Australian Securities & Investments Commission on 18 January 2008.
Windimurra Vanadium Managing Director Dr Iain Scott said the entitlement issue provided an opportunity for shareholders to further participate in the development of the Company, as it heads toward production at its Windimurra Vanadium project next year.
Under the entitlement issue, each shareholder eligible to participate will be entitled to subscribe for one new ordinary share in Windimurra for each three existing ordinary shares registered in their name at 3.00pm (Perth time) on 29 January 2008. Windimurra will issue approximately 34.25 million new ordinary shares under the entitlement issue at an issue price of $1.60 per share, which is a 10.1% discount to the closing sale price on 17 January 2008 of $1.78. The entitlement issue will include an additional share facility allowing shareholders to apply for additional shares not taken up by other shareholders.
The entitlement issue is fully underwritten by Euroz Securities Limited and fully sub-underwritten by significant shareholder, Territory Resources Limited (ASX:TTY). Attached is a letter regarding the entitlements issue that will be mailed to shareholders on 21 January 2008.

Vanadium market soars, ferro hits $70 a kilo, highest since mid-2005
London, 04 February 2008 - Vanadium prices continued to rocket higher in Europe on Monday, with the fright caused by last Friday's force majeure by Xstrata Alloys causing a frantic scramble for prompt material.
Ferro-vanadium was said to have traded at $70 a kilo, some $20, or 40 percent, up from the levels prevailing towards the end of last week.
"Everything is related to that force majeure last week. The consumers are panicking -- steel-makers are looking for material," a trader said.
Last Friday, Xstrata Alloys declared force majeure to its ferro-chrome and vanadium customers as a precautionary measure. This was due to the reduced electricity supply to its ferrochrome and vanadium operations from Eskom, state-energy supplier.
Eskom is having to ration supply because of reduced generating capacity aggravated by problems associated with coal supplies to power stations caused by unusually heavy rainfall.

Antwort auf Beitrag Nr.: 33.271.243 von MFC500 am 05.02.08 13:30:18 LONDON, Feb 7 (Reuters) - Prices of ferrovanadium have
surged by more than 50 percent this week to their highest levels
since June 2005 on jitters over supplies from South Africa and
China where power problems have hit metals production.
Rhodium RHOD-LON has soared to a record high of $7,550 an
ounce. South Africa is the world's biggest producer of rhodium,
a by product of platinum.
Antimony ANT-LON jumped to $5,850 a tonne, its highest
since October 1994 and Germanium GERM-LON rose to $1,300 a kg,
its highest since August 1998.
Traders said ferrovanadium VAN-FERRO-LON, a key raw
material for steel makers, was trading at $80/$90 a kg, up from
$52/56 last week.
"Ferro vanadium prices have rocketed over the last few days
because of electricity problems," a Europe-based trader said.
"People were starting to worry about Chinese output, and that
combined with South Africa has done the job."
Power supplies hit by severe winter weather are slowly being
restored in China, but expectations are that production of minor
metals in the country could take several weeks to reach
capacity.
Mining companies in South Afrcia have been hit by power cuts
and nervous consumers have been hunting for ferro vanadium and
ferro chrome in the spot market since major producer Xstrata
(XTA.L: Quote, Profile, Research) declared force majeure to customers last week.
PANIC
Antimony used to fireproof fibres and plastics has been
creeping up slowly over the last few months, but traders said
transport problems caused by the severe winter weather in China
were likely to leave the market short of material.
The metal was trading at $5,600/5,700 a tonne last week.
Rhodium prices are up by more than 35 percent since Janyary
2007, part of the reason has been stronger demand from glass
makers and for use in catalytic converters to limit carbon
emissions, where rules have become much stricter.
But the recent panic has been created by power shortages in
South Africa, traders said.
Prices of the precious minor metal were at around $7,000 an
ounce at the beginning of last month.
"After the snow, there is normally flooding," a London-based
trader said. "There's no telling when Chinese production will be
back to normal."
Another London-based trader said demand growth for germanium
to make military equipment such as tanks and helicopters showed
no signs of receding. Germanium was trading around $1,275 a
kilogramme in January.
"Last summer there was a problem with Chinese supplies of
germanium, when they decided they were going to use a new, more
efficient way of making germanium," he said. "They had to shut
down for a while, it took quite a few tonnes out of the market."

Firma.

U.a. deswegen gefällt mir Windi so gut.

Papier ausgesetzt. Aktuell Krisensitzung mit externen Experten. So schnell kanns gehen.

Windimurra is pleased to announced it has raised $54.8 million to take its world class vanadium project into production, following successful closure of its heavily oversubscribed entitlement issue.
The raising completes all funding requirements for development of the Company’s Windimurra Vanadium project in WA’s Mid West, which is due to be commissioned in the last quarter of 2008. Windimurra Vanadium Managing Director Dr Iain Scott said the Company had raised the maximum amount of funds available through the entitlement issue, which enabled shareholders to subscribe for one new share for each three shares held.
Through the offer, Windimurra will issue approximately 34.2 million new ordinary shares at a price of $1.60 per share. Shares will be issued and entered into the shareholder’s holding in the share register on 25 February 2008 and will be available for trading on 26 February 2008. “We are very pleased with the strong shareholder support for Windimurra, with all our major shareholders participating and most of them subscribing for additional shares.” Dr Scott said.
“This raising significantly de-risks the project by completing the $200 million finance package, following the finalisation of the $145 million debt funding arrangement in January. The capital raised will be used to complete redevelopment of the mine and plant at Windimurra and to take the project into production.” “We are also making significant progress in execution on the ground, with about 50% of the project capital expenditure spent or committed,” Dr Scott said.
The Windimurra project, located 600km north east of Perth, is based on one of the largest proven vanadium reserves in the world. Global demand for vanadium is expanding, driven mainly by growth in steel consumption which has seen vanadium spot prices increasing to above US$80/kg from price levels of just under US$40/kg during 2007.
Dr Scott said during the past six months, the Company had achieved a number of major milestones on the path toward production. “We have secured all principal environmental approvals, have put in place key supply contacts (including gas), and have signed a 10 year, $300 million contract with Mineral Resources to build, own, operate and transfer the beneficiation plant, which is now underway,” Dr Scott said. “Now with the completion of finance, we can continue with full confidence toward becoming one of the world’s lowest cost vanadium projects,” Dr Scott said.

Hi all,
1.)
Windimurra Vanadium Ltd. Registered Shares o.N.
---> WKN: A0NAGJ (Frankfurt)
2.)
WINDIMURRA VANADIUM
---> WKN: B05L2G7 (NASDAQ, other: OTC)
3.)
Windimurra Vanadium Ltd. Registered Shares o.N.
---> WKN: A0NAGJ (XETRA)
Also muesste man wohl dahin gehen.

Gute, preiswerte Aussi-Broker sind u.a.

Windimurra Board changes
Windimurra Vanadium announces that Chairman Michael Kiernan and non-executive director Andrew Simpson have resigned from the Board, effective from 5pm Friday 29th February 2008.
Mr Kiernan, who is represented on the Board of a number of companies, advises that he has stepped down from the board to focus on his other business interests. Mr Simpson’s increased work load, in particular his recent appointment as Chairman of India Resources, and his desire to focus on the continued expansion of Swick Mining, led to his decision to step down.
Following the resignations, Territory Resources Limited, of which Mr Keirnan is executive Chairman, has sold its holding of 13 million shares in Windimurra Vanadium to clients of Euroz Securities Limited at $2.00 per share. Euroz Securities was the underwriter of Windimurra Vanadium’s recent $54.8 million entitlements issue.
The Board of Windimurra Vanadium will meet next week to put in place a process, following accepted corporate governance guidelines, to determine the appropriate composition of the board going forward, and to establish a process for the identification and appointment of new directors.
The Board would like to thank Mr Kiernan and Mr Simpson for their contribution to the development of the
Windimurra Vanadium project, which following the recent completion of finance, is due for first production
in the last quarter of this year.

Hallo MFC500 & Damien,
Unternehmenswerts.
Insbesondere zu den Produktionskosten hat mir auch Windimurra selbst keine ausreichenden Antworten geschrieben ("I cannot report specific production cost data because it is confidential and is not published").

Auf Seite 12 steht u.a.:
"When in full operation, the mine is expected to produce 6,400
tonnes of ferrovanadium and 1,000 tonnes of high quality vanadium pentoxide per year, equivalent to approximately 7% of world vanadium demand."
"Once operational, Windimurra has the potential to make the Company one of the world’s lowest cost vanadium producers." (Quelle: MEDIA RELEASE vom 20.12.07)
Immerhin geht W. davon aus, daß "Demand growth will require ~1 new Windimurra every year".

Danke nochmals!

"A mining recovery factor of 95% has been assumed. The cut-off grade adopted is 0.275% V2O5."

"Drilling conducted 12/06 and 01/07 has not yet been included in the resource and reserve model, but indicates the mineable width and depth is greater than previously assumed.

Windimurra Vanadium Ltd has announced the appointment of Dr Wolf Martinick as chairman, replacing previous chairman Michael Kiernan who resigned from the company last week.
Dr Martinick, an environmental scientist, has been a non-executive director of Windimurra Vanadium since December 2006 and assumes his new role immediately.
Dr Martinick has more than 35 years experience in the mineral resource industry and has been closely involved with projects in Australasia, Africa, China, India, Eastern Europe, Mexico and parts of the former Soviet Union.
Windimurra Vanadium managing director Dr Iain Scott said the board was united in its view that Dr Martinick was eminently qualified to assume the role of chairman.
"Dr Martinick has considerable experience in securing approvals and funding for developing mineral projects, and as a non-executive director this experience has already been highly valuable in the development of the Windimurra project," he said.
Dr Martinick said its focus was commissioning production of the Windimurra project.
"With all principal environmental approvals secured, key supply contracts, including gas, in place, the ten year, $300 million contract to build, own, operate and transfer the beneficiation plant underway, and project financing complete, our focus is commissioning production on time and on budget," he said.
Dr Martinick is a non-executive director of a number of ASX companies including Azure Minerals Ltd; Carbine Resources Limited; Sun Resources Limited; Uran Limited; and is chairman of Ezenet Limited.
He is also the founding director chairman of Weatherly International Limited, an AIM listed mining house with extensive copper exploration, mining and smelting interests in Namibia and Zambia.
Windimurra had commenced recruiting additional independent directors to the board.

WINDIMURRA VANADIUM LTD (Kurz-Betrachtung)
WKN: A0NAGJ
Produktionsjahr: . 2009 … 2010 ... 2011
Produktionsvol.: 4200 t ... 5200 t .. 5500 t
Umsatzerlös $: . 147 Mio . 182 Mio. 193 Mio.
Gewinn Netto: ... 27 Mio. .. 38 Mio. .. 43 Mio.
x 90 % = ............ 24 Mio. .. 34 Mio. .. 39 Mio.
Ergibt ein KGV: .. ..11 .......... 8 ............7
Kurs bei KGV 10: ……… ... € 1,50 ... € 1,75

Construction on Schedule for Completion in 2008 - Key points
•On target for mechanical completion later this year
•Project fully funded to end of construction and commissioning
•Financing completed to bring forward commencement of mining to September 2008
•Strong vanadium prices driven by world supply shortages
Windimurra is pleased to provide an update on the development of its world class vanadium project near Mount Magnet, where it continues to make excellent progress with construction and is on schedule for completion later this year.
Procurement and Construction
At the end of March, 52% of the total budget had been spent or committed and the project was 50% complete in terms of its overall timeframe. “We are on track for completion by the end of 2008” the managing director, Dr Iain Scott commented. Construction activity levels on site continue to increase as planned. There are currently more than 180 people on site and this will rise further following the recent award of the $30m structural, mechanical and piping (SMP) package. The SMP contractor mobilized to site in early April.
Significant volumes of concrete have been poured with approximately 800m3 of concrete, representing 50% of the total requirement, now complete. Other areas are also showing good progress. Last week Windimurra took another step forward with the recommendation for award of the electrical and instrumentation package at below budget.
All critical long lead items have been procured. The South African equipment suppliers responsible for the supply of the kiln off gas equipment, the reduction furnace and the electric arc furnace are performing well and remain on time and on budget.
Mineral Resources Limited, the beneficiation plant BOOT contractor, is currently ahead of schedule. The crusher and stockpile conveyor footings are complete and work is underway on the crusher structures and stockpile tunnel. The fixed price nature of the beneficiation plant contract assists in containing any budget price pressures in this area.
Finance
The company is in a very strong cash position, with $220m in the bank. Based on the latest cost to complete forecast, this funding is sufficient to complete construction and commissioning. In March the Company raised an additional $25.2 million through a share placement, following successfully completing a US$127.5 million debt funding facility and a $54.8 million entitlement issue earlier in the year.
Project Improvements
As a result of the successful raising of additional capital through the placement, Windimurra has been able to bring forward mining by three months to September 2008. The earlier start will ensure the optimal ore blend is available for the start of process commissioning. This will improve vanadium recoveries through the beneficiation plant circuit during the critical early stages of production and enhance overall profitability.
Vanadium Market
Project economics have also been boosted by the strength of vanadium prices. During 2008, vanadium prices have been trading at 20 year highs, following interruptions to global supply. The power shortages that have disrupted production in South Africa and have lead to the cancellation of some growth projects, look set to continue for a number of years. Robust vanadium market fundamentals have resulted in the current historically high price levels of US$60/kg.
“We are looking forward to completing the project later this year so that we can capitalise on the current strong prices,” Dr Scott said

Euroz Broker Report
Windimurra presents as a highly leveraged Vanadium price play. Project EBITDA sensitivity is roughly $50m per US$10/kg move in the underlying FeV price.
We believe the project fundamentals look excellent with potentially low costs and quality product. Risk is mitigated with the previous operating information which has enabled improvements. The supply/demand scenario is particularly attractive and is exacerbated by the Sth African power supply crisis.
In the context of an assumed long run US$40/kg FeV price we believe WVL is valued at $3.30/sh. The share price will track toward this level as project completion draws nearer. Significantly higher valuations may be seen if FeV prices demonstrate some sustainability above our long run assumption.
Euroz Securities declares that it has acted as underwriter to and/or arranged an equity issue in and/or provided corporate advice to Windimurra Vanadium Ltd during the last year. Euroz Securities has received a fee for these services. This analyst also declares that he has a benefi cial interest in Windimurra Vanadium Ltd shares.

http://www.asianmetal.com/Metal_News/index_product125_en.asp
Also viel Glück dem Windimurra-Team!, TT.

May 30, 2008 (Bloomberg)
Windimurra Vanadium Ltd., a Western Australian mining company aiming to provide 8.5 percent of the world's vanadium, said power shortages at rivals in South Africa will keep global supply short until at least 2012.
``Supply of vanadium will remain tight,'' said Iain Scott, chief executive officer of the Perth-based company, predicting a benchmark price of $50 a kilogram of the metal used to strengthen steel. ``And that's factoring in a best-case scenario for South African producers, which is no guarantee.''
Power cuts have reduced vanadium output in South Africa, the world's largest producer, with state-owned utility Eskom Holdings Ltd. predicting electricity shortages will peak in 2012. Prices of the metal have doubled this year, pushing Windimurra's shares up 43 percent in the same period.
Windimurra is spending A$450 million ($432 million) on the Australian mine, previously owned by Xstrata Plc. Mechanical output is scheduled for the first quarter next year, Scott said. The mine will produce about 5,500 metric tons of vanadium annually year from 2009, with global supply averaging an estimated 60,000 to 65,000 tons, he said.
``Even if vanadium went down to about $30 a kilogram, Windimurra would still be profitable,'' Scott said yesterday in an interview. ``But we don't think that will happen. We see a shortage of vanadium in 2008 and 2009, and a market imbalance going through to 2012. Vanadium demand will grow between 7 percent and 8 percent a year through to 2012, which is basically equivalent to one Windimurra coming on-line every year.''
In March, Xstrata said it will cut second-quarter deliveries of vanadium by as much as 1 percent because of power shortages in South Africa. Highveld Steel & Vanadium Ltd., the world's biggest vanadium producer, said in February that power outages posed a ``considerable threat'' to future output.
Most South African mines were shut for five days in January after Eskom couldn't meet electricity demand because of plant maintenance, coal supply problems and a government delay in taking a decision to expand capacity.
``The market is very sensitive to power supply issues,'' Scott said. ``Large South African miners are facing up to 15 percent restrictions to their power supply.''

Antwort auf Beitrag Nr.: 36.144.452 von ThinkTwice2 am 04.12.08 09:07:38MOUNT Gibson has asked for its stock to be suspended from official quotation, so it may continue discussions about an off-take agreement.
The Perth-based miner had requested a trading halt last week, pending an announcement, which was expected to be made today.
In its request for the voluntary suspension, Mount Gibson said it was continuing discussions with customers and third parties regarding off-take agreements.
In a note to the Australian Stock Exchange earlier this month, managing director Luke Tonkin said the company had received requests from several customers to delay hematite ore shipments scheduled for the second quarter of the financial year.
Its customers include Chinese steel mill Rizhao Steel Holding Group, Citic Australia Commodity Trading and Marubeni.
It is understood that 70 per cent of its customers asked for a shipment delay of one to three months, but it is not clear if most are steel mills or traders, who are said to be struggling to secure customers.
http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/business/story/0,28124,…

45 AUD/Kilo ?

At the AGM of the 26 November, the company announced that the Windimurra Vanadium project completion would be delayed. This resulted from late supply of equipment and materials and delays in obtaining statutory approvals. The project would be commissioned and produce ferrovanadium in the second quarter of 2009. GR Engineering Services (GRES) has been appointed to assist with completing the project. GRES along with its Managing Director, Joe Ricciardo has an excellent reputation for the delivering of construction projects.
GRES has undertaken a complete review of the project schedule and costs. The review indicates the plant will be progressively commissioned from January, but that slippage in the Vanadium Refinery would result in production ramp up towards the end of the second quarter of 2009. An allowance is needed for additional construction labour to achieve the schedule and for fixed costs associated with the extension. Both factors have resulted in the need for additional funds. Based on the GRES review, the Company has determined that $81 million is required, including $20m of contingencies. This allows for commissioning and working capital until the project is cash flow positive.
The Company is in discussion with debt and equity providers. The existing debt arrangements allow for a banking facility of up to $30m. Discussions are underway with a major Australian bank to provide such a facility. The Company is in negotiation with its key stakeholders for funding. These parties have the capacity to underwrite a capital raising. These discussions to date have been positive, but they are yet to be finalised. The Company has commenced a fund raising program, which is likely to include a Rights Issue, which the Company believes would attract substantial underwriting.
The company has taken a number of measures to conserve cash. These include staff reductions and approaches to key contractors to renegotiate terms. All items of construction and operating expenditure have been reviewed. In addition, the rate of production ramp-up to nameplate capacity has been examined by an independent expert to ensure that working capital requirements are minimised.
Apart from the Vanadium Refinery, all aspects of the plant are expected to be mechanically omplete before the end of the first quarter of 2009. These include;
• Bore field – complete
• Gas Inlet Delivery system – complete
• Commencement of mining – complete
• Crushing plant - complete
• Magnetite beneficiation plant - substantially complete
• Power station – 90% complete, with commissioning scheduled for January 2009.
The Company had $91m in cash at the end of November 2008. These funds are sufficient to meet project expenditure until completion of the capital raising planned to be finalised before the end ofQ1 2009. The Company continues to monitor the Vanadium price as well as supply and demand dynamics. The reduction in the US$ vanadium price has been largely offset by the weakening Australian Dollar. The project remains viable at current prices and exchange rates. The ramp up of production to reach 90% of design capacity in 2010, is in line with expected global recovery in steel and other commodity prices. The outlook for Windimurra Vanadium remains as a low cost, profitable and long life producer of vanadium for the global steel market.

Windimurra hereby requests ASX to grant Windimurra a trading halt pending a further announcement. The reason for the trading halt is that Windimurra is currently negotiating a capital raising, the outcome of which will be announced when known. Windimurra is not aware of any reason why the trading halt should not be granted. Unless ASX decides otherwise, the securities will remain in pre-open until the earlier of the commencement of normal trading on Wednesday, 11 February 2009 or when the announcement is released to the market.

hier noch zwei etwas ausführlichere Artikel:

HUNDREDS of jobs at the Windimurra vanadium mine development in WA's mid-west are being wound down after the appointment of administrators and receivers. The mine was set to start producing ferrovanadium this year but announced at the end of last year that it needed an extra $81 million for construction labour and fixed costs.
``There's over 400 contractors on site, they're being wound down and demobilised from the site because construction needs to be put on hold while this assessment occurs,'' administrator Darren Weaver of Ferrier Hodgson said today. ``Ultimately the decision is in the hands of the receivers.''
Korda Mentha receiver Brian McMaster said the mine would be placed on effective care and maintenance while contractors were redeployed. The future of the company's 50 workers was still uncertain. We're just working through with them at the moment what the best course of action is and we've sort of agreed that ... we'll have a result by next week,'' Mr McMaster said.
``Sixty contractors left yesterday, we're thinking about 130 will come off today and then after that we're down to a core of people who are more or less required to keep everything on care and maintenance. ``We'll work through over the next couple of days whether any more of those need to come out or not.''
The company announced in its December quarter activities report that it had $71 million in cash at the end of 2008 but was taking steps to conserve cash. However, its financial report for the same quarter stated cash reserves at quarter's end totalled $114 million.
Mr Weaver said all options are still open and the mine may still be viable. ``We're working pretty closely with the receivers to make sure that we can preserve all the recapitalisation options as one of the potential outcomes,'' Mr Weaver said. ``Given that the project is 90 per cent complete ... and given there is a defined amount of monies that need to be reinvested in order to complete it ... there is an ability where a (recapitalisation) might work in this situation. ``The secured creditors are going to be very focused on their returns ... but there's also a lot of interest in the project. ``At this stage I think that all the options are open.''

Windimurra Vanadium has been placed in administration after creditors Merrill Lynch ran out of patience with the cash-strapped miner’s bid to raise money.
In a move foreshadowed by The West Australian today, the company confirmed Martin Jones, Darren Weaver and Andrew Saker had been appointed as joint and several administrators of the company and its 90 per cent owned subsidiary, MidWest Vanadium.
In December, the company said its namesake mine in would be delayed due to the late supply of equipment and materials, and delays in approvals.
The delay resulted in Windimurra needing an additional $81 million to cover extra construction and labour costs.
But last-ditch hopes of the raising going ahead collapsed this week following a stand-off between Windimurra’s dominant block of UK equity investors and Noble, which had threatened to reprice its offtake agreement.
It is also thought the UK investors, who were being asked to contribute $30 million, were unable to do so.
Windimurra had hoped the project would be commissioned to produce ferrovanadium in the second quarter of 2009.
But the asset is likely to be sold off to allow Merrill Lynch, the main secured creditor as owner of about $US125 million ($192 million) worth of notes, to recoup its investment.
Windimurra shares lasted traded at 17 cents before entering a trading halt last week

Glencore, Noble eye vanadium project
22nd June 2009, 7:30 WST
Commodities traders Glencore International and Noble Group are thought to head a list of nine parties in the running to buy Windimurra Vanadium’s (WVL) almost-completed mine and plant near Mt Magnet.
Brian McMaster, of WVL receiver KordaMentha, has asked parties to submit final binding offers by the middle of next month.
Mr McMaster confirmed yesterday the timetable had slipped because of unexpected high interest in the project, with 55 parties having been through the WVL data room.
He had originally called for final bids by the end of this month.
WVL collapsed in February when it ran out of cash with construction of the project only 90 per cent complete. At the time WVL said it needed another $80 million to tide it over until it could rely on production cash flows.
KordaMentha, which was appointed by a Merrill Lynch-led group of secured creditors owed $201 million, is hoping to reap as much as $200 million from the sale of the project.
Mr McMaster would not reveal the names of parties in the running but said they were involved in site visits and WVL management presentations as part of due diligence efforts.
Noble, whose vanadium offtake agreement with WVL is thought to remain valid, is understood to still be in the race, as is Glencore, whose associate Xstrata was once the owner of the controversial Mt Magnet project.
The list is also thought to include Chinese and Indian groups, private equity houses and Russian steel giant Evraz, which owns the Highveld vanadium business in South Africa.
The outcome of the WVL auction is being watched closely by Reed Resources, whose Barrambie vanadium project is just to the north of WVL’s. Reed has placed a $629 million capital cost on developing its project and could attract the attention of unsuccessful WVL bidders.

Indian company Shiva Industries and a group of UK investors are thought to remain in the race to secure the collapsed Windimurra Vanadium.

Windimurra Vanadium expects creditors to support an extension of time for the finalisation of recapitalisation proposals. The company went into administration on 18 February 2009. By early October, receivers have settled on two potential investors with interest in acquiring and completing the project. An extension of 45 days has been requested but it may only take a couple of weeks to finalise bids.

Low-profile Swiss banker Germano Valle has emerged as the frontrunner to pick up the collapsed miner Windimurra Vanadium.
It is understood Mr Valle, who through his investment vehicle Gersec Trust held 5.6 per cent at the time of Windimurra's collapse in February, is close to striking a recapitalisation deal with the vanadium hopeful's receiver, KordaMentha.
KordaMentha partner Brian McMaster would not comment on talks with potential bidders but said he remained confident of concluding a deal by the time Windimurra creditors are due to meet late next month.
But it is expected that Mr Valle's proposal is leading a rival bid from Indian group Siva.
It is expected that Mr Valle will have the support for any bid from Windimurra's biggest shareholder, fellow Europe-based group Matterhorn Investment Management which held a 12.3 per cent stake.
The European shareholders had previously joined forces in forcing boardroom change at Windimurra.
Given the two parties' substantial equity investment in Windimurra, a recapitalisation proposal is considered more likely than a buyout of the collapsed miner's namesake vanadium project, near Mt Magnet, which is 90 per cent complete.
Mr McMaster was appointed by a Merrill Lynch syndicate of lenders, which is owed about $US125 million ($135 million), secured against the vanadium project. Windimurra had spent about $200 million on developing the controversial project when it ran out of cash, sparking its slide into administration and receivership because of an inability to raise the extra $80 million required to complete construction.
Since then investor sentiment towards metals projects has improved markedly, led by a more positive outlook for the steel industry. Vanadium is used in specialty steel products.
Windimurra's pre-collapse management team, including managing director Iain Scott and chief financial officer Garry Korte, is no longer with the company and not expected to be re-employed by the new owners.
The role of Hong Kong trader Noble Group, which had an vanadium offtake agreement, in any recapitalisation process remains unclear.

A consortium led by aggressive Perth-based mining services group Mineral Resources will revive the stalled Windimurra Vanadium project near Mt Magnet, after striking a deal with administrators and receivers.
The consortium will take a majority shareholding in Windimurra Vanadium by recapitalising the company's namesake mine.
The proposal has the support of Windimurra's secured lenders, who were owed $US125 million when the miner collapsed in February after it was unable to raise an extra $80 million needed to complete reconstruction of the operation. The lenders will take a minor equity position in the company.
Under the recapitalisation plan agreed with Brian McMaster and Martin Madden, the receiver and managers of the asset, the consortium will provide the necessary debt funding to complete development and resume production.
Mineral Resources will also contruct and operate the project's crushing and processing plants in line with its original contract with Windimurra Vanadium.

"Under the proposal, the MRL consortium will take a substantial majority shareholding in Midwest Vanadium PtyLtd (Midwest) with the original, secured lenders taking a minor equity role."

Atlantic Ltd. will 25% an Vanadium Mine
28.12.2009 | 14:01 Uhr | Autor: Hannes Huster Quelle: Goldreport

The Deed Administrators are pursuing a reconstruction of Windimurra Vanadium Limiteds (WVL) ASX listed shell. A Reconstruction Deed has been executed with Trident Capital, who is the proponent of the reconstruction. If the reconstruction is successful, WVLs shares will be re-quoted on the ASX. Please note that the proposed reconstruction contemplates a consolidation of WVLs existing share capital on a 1 for 8 basis.
Currently, the Proponent is endeavoring to meet the conditions imposed by the ASX for the proposed reconstruction to proceed further. The proposed reconstruction is also subject to the satisfaction of certain conditions precedent in the Reconstruction Deed, which are expected to be satisfied by 31 December 2010. The conditions precedent include obtaining and receiving approval from shareholders of the proposed reconstruction, at a shareholders meeting to be convened by the Proponent (aimed for December 2010). In this regard, the Proponent will provide shareholders with full information regarding the proposed reconstruction when such information becomes available, but in any event, before shareholders are required to vote in respect of the proposed reconstruction at the shareholders meeting.

Will da jemand die enormen Verlustvorträge nutzen ?
