Hallo,
leider gibt es bei wallstreet-online bisher keinen Thread zu Marathon Petroleum. Nach der Abspaltung von Marathon Oil gibt es für die Aktie nur noch eine Richtung, gen Norden. Aktuell werden Kurziele von 88, bzw. 100 USD/ share herumgereicht. Unabhängg davon, ist Marathon sicher eine Debatte hier im Bord wert.
Selbst Barron`s ist für die Aktie äüßerst positiv gestimmt.

Guten Abend zierbart,

ich finde klasse das du einen Thread hier zu Marathon Petroleum aufgemacht hast, habe MPC auf meiner Watchliste. Einige amerikanische Ölwerte für 2013 sehen sehr interresant und sehr positiv aus.

Neben MPC halte ich CVX, XOM und APC für interessante Kandidaten in 2013.
Ich persönlich sehe ich CVX und MPC als Favoriten.
MPC ist in 2012 sehr gut gelaufen, werde mich ein wenig intensiver mit MPC wieder beschäftigen (u.a...Trade Quality, Short Position.
In Nasdaq ist die Tradequalität nicht gut bewertet finde ich als Longman sehr wichtig. Freue mich auf weitere anregende Statements!

Marathon Petroleum Corporation to Announce 2012 Fourth-Quarter and Year-End Financial Results Jan. 30

FINDLAY, Ohio, Jan. 9, 2013 - Marathon Petroleum Corporation (NYSE: MPC) announced today that it will host a conference call on Wednesday, Jan. 30, at 10 a.m. EST to provide an update on company operations and to discuss 2012 fourth-quarter and year-end financial results, which will be released earlier that day.

MPC participants will be Gary Heminger, president and chief executive officer; Garry Peiffer, executive vice president of Corporate Planning and Investor & Government Relations; Don Templin, senior vice president and chief financial officer; and Mike Palmer, senior vice president of Supply, Distribution and Planning. The call will be hosted by Pam Beall, vice president, Investor Relations and Government & Public Affairs.

Interested parties may listen to the conference call on MPC's website at http://www.marathonpetroleum.com by clicking on the "2012 Fourth Quarter Financial Results" link. FINDLAY, Ohio (AP) -- Marathon Petroleum Corp. said Wednesday that it earned $755 million in the fourth quarter as it shopped for cheaper supplies of crude oil, raising its refining profit margin.

The results beat analysts' expectations.

Fourth-quarter net income was $2.24 per share compared with a loss of $75 million, or 21 cents per share, a year ago. The company said that excluding special items, it would have earned $2.26 per share.

Operating revenue was $20.68 billion, up from $19.42 billion. Total revenue, including things such as asset sales, rose to $20.71 billion.

Analysts expected Marathon to earn $2.09 per share on revenue of $19.39 billion, according to FactSet.

The company said gross profit margin from refining and marketing jumped to $9.17 per barrel in the fourth quarter, up from 39 cents per barrel a year earlier, on cheaper crude oil and larger spreads between crude and finished-product prices.

Marathon said it was able to take advantage of lower prices for so-called heavy crude oils. As the year ended, the company finished a $2.2 billion investment to expand capacity for refining heavy crude, which it expects to remain cheaper than other oils "well into the future."

Marathon also announced that it would pay a quarterly dividend of 35 cents per share and raised its stock-buyback authority by $2 billion, to a new limit of $2.65 billion. The dividend is payable March 11 to shareholders of record on Feb. 20.

Marathon Petroleum shares rose 44 cents to $72.41 in morning trading.
