An armed group stormed a gold mine in northern Mexico and stole bars of gold and silver alloy before fleeing in a light aircraft, mine operator Minas de Oro Nacional said.

Minas de Oro Nacional, a subsidiary of Canadian firm Alamos Gold Inc., said in a statement late on Wednesday that the robbery at the Mulatos mine in Sonora state occurred when a group of five “heavily armed” people assaulted security staff who were transferring bars of the precious metals onto a plane.

Within 10 minutes, the robbers loaded the goods onto a separate plane that landed alongside. The aircraft, which appeared to be a Cessna 206, then took off towards a mountain range, Minas de Oro Nacional said. It did not detail the amount or value of the stolen bars.

The Miners’ Association of Sonora (AMSAC) said the incident was the second recent robbery at a Sonora mine, after an armed group in late March stole from Mineria Penmont, a subsidiary of Fresnillo. It called on law enforcement to work with mining companies to step up security amid broader instability due to the coronavirus crisis.

“During this sanitary emergency ... the industry is in a transition stage in its operations in order to adhere to the federal and state government orders, which makes it a vulnerable target for organized crime,” the group said in a statement.

TORONTO, March 24, 2020 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Alamos Gold Inc. (TSX:AGI; NYSE:AGI) (“Alamos” or the “Company”) today provided an update on the measures it has instituted to prevent the spread of COVID-19 including a 14 day suspension of operations at Island Gold.

To date, Alamos has not had any confirmed cases of COVID-19 among any of its employees or contractors and has not experienced any impact to its operations or its supply chain. Over the past two weeks, the Company has instituted a number of measures to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 and protect the health and well-being of its employees and contractors, their families, and the local communities. This includes temporarily suspending operations at its Island Gold mine given the unique set-up of the operation with both a large local community and fly-in, fly-out workforce. The Company continues to closely monitor the situation and will institute additional measures as appropriate.

To date, operations at Young-Davidson and Mulatos have not been impacted. The Company is on track to achieve consolidated production guidance for the first quarter of 2020 of 105,000 to 110,000 ounces of gold.

“First and foremost, our focus is on ensuring we protect the health and safety of our employees and the communities in which we operate. At Island Gold, approximately half of our employees travel from various parts of Ontario and Quebec, while the other half are local residents. We have a very unique camp set-up at Island Gold, with the camp located directly within the town of Dubreuilville. For these reasons, we have decided that the best way to minimize the possible spread of the virus is to temporarily suspend the operation of the mine. This is a rapidly evolving situation and we will take further action based on the best available information,” said John A. McCluskey, President and Chief Executive Officer.

Temporary Suspension of Operations at Island Gold

The Island Gold mine is located southeast of the town of Dubreuilville and 83 kilometres northeast of Wawa in Northern Ontario. Approximately 50% of the workforce comes from the local communities with the other 50% housed in a camp within the town of Dubreuilville and operating on a fly-in, fly out basis from various other regions. To help prevent the potential spread of COVID-19 between these various communities, the Company will be scaling down activities over the next few days as part of a 14 day suspension of operations at Island Gold.

During this period, Island Gold will be placed on care and maintenance. A number of essential employees will remain on site to provide security, water management and other environmental protection activities.

Measures Taken Across all Operations

To date, operating activities at the Young-Davidson and Mulatos mines have not been impacted. The following measures have been instituted to prevent the potential spread of the virus:

Medical screening for all personnel upon entry to site for symptoms of COVID-19

Elimination of all non-essential business travel

Required 14 day quarantine for any employees returning from out of country travel

Rigid camp and site hygiene protocols have been instituted and are being followed

Social distancing practises have been implemented to limit interactions to only within functional groups or crews

Restrictions on visitor site access to only essential personnel

Sponsored a service to provide hot meals to those in need within Dubreuilville, including anyone with health issues, facing economic challenges, those at risk and residents 65 years of age or older

We continue to monitor the situation and will take additional measures as appropriate to protect the health and well-being of our employees, contractors and communities

Alamos Gold Announces Repurchase of 3% NSR Royalty on Island Gold Mine and Corresponding Reduction in 2020 Cost Guidance

TORONTO, March 16, 2020 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Alamos Gold Inc. (TSX:AGI; NYSE:AGI) (“Alamos” or the “Company”) today announced that it has entered into an agreement to acquire and cancel a 3% net smelter return (“NSR”) royalty payable on production from the Island Gold mine (the “Royalty”) for total cash consideration of C$75 million ($54 million).

The Royalty was acquired from a privately held company and is payable on gold production within four patented claims (the “Subject Claims”) that comprise the majority of currently defined Mineral Reserves and Resources within the Island Gold deposit. The acquisition and elimination of the royalty will immediately reduce operating costs and increase operating cash flow while providing increased exposure to Island Gold’s significant exploration potential.

Transaction highlights:

Acquisition and cancellation of the Royalty on all future gold production from the Subject Claims that comprise the majority of the Island Gold deposit. As of December 31, 2019, the Subject Claims contained:
• 0.9 million ounces of Mineral Reserves, representing 71% of Island Gold’s total Mineral Reserves, and
• 1.1 million ounces of Inferred Mineral Resources (see Table 1)
$40 per ounce, or 7%, decrease in Island Gold’s 2020 total cash cost guidance to between $480 and $520 per ounce and $40 per ounce decrease in mine-site all-in sustaining cost guidance to between $740 and $780 per ounce
Increased exposure to Island Gold’s substantial exploration potential with combined Mineral Reserves and Resources having doubled to 2.0 million ounces within the Subject Claims since the end of 2016, including:
• 0.5 million ounce increase in Mineral Reserves to 0.9 million ounces, net of 0.3 million ounces of mining depletion. This reflects the discovery of new Mineral Reserves and strong conversion rate of Inferred Mineral Resources to Reserves of 83% since the end of 2016, and
• 0.5 million ounce increase in Inferred Mineral Resources to 1.1 million ounces
Increased exposure to higher gold prices. At spot gold prices of approximately $1,530 per ounce, Alamos will save $46 per ounce on production from the Subject Claims. In 2019, royalty payments to the Subject Claims totalled C$8 million
Reduction in effective NSR royalty rate on Island Gold’s Mineral Reserves to 2.2% from approximately 4.4%

“The acquisition of the royalty further reduces costs at what is already a low-cost operation while also increasing our exposure to the tremendous exploration upside. Since we acquired Island Gold in 2017, the Mineral Reserve and Resource base has doubled with the deposit approaching four million ounces across all categories. With the deposit open laterally and down-plunge across several areas of focus, we see excellent potential for this growth to continue at a greatly reduced royalty on future production,” said John A. McCluskey, President and Chief Executive Officer.

Island Gold and Consolidated 2020 Cost Guidance Reduced with Elimination of Royalty

Mineral Reserves within the Subject Claims currently account for 71% of total Mineral Reserves at Island Gold. In 2020, over 90% of Island Gold’s gold production is expected to come from within the Subject Claims. With the elimination of the Royalty and associated cost savings, the Company has lowered its 2020 total cash cost and mine-site all-in sustaining cost guidance by $40 per ounce. On a consolidated basis, total cash cost and all-in sustaining cost guidance has also been reduced by $13 per ounce as detailed below.

Ich gehe davon aus, das wir die 10 Can$ demnächst auch noch sehen werden wenn der Edelmetallpreis weiter so konstant sein wird.

Alamos kann man gut und gerne praktisch abhandeln.

Trotz guter Entwicklung ist die Kurs Performence mehr als enttäuschend,
da muss wohl anderes her als Leichmetall-Pushing.
Z.B. Marktüberzeugung der EM-Metall-Teilnehmer.

Der Balance Sheet ist gut- die Capexausgaben sind enorm. Da sollte man sich nicht
unbedingt auf Explorer konzentrieren, sondern eher zukaufen.

Von der Schrottcompanie Argonaut liegt was in der Nähe, da könnte der schnell Zugriff liegen.

Alle die in die Minenwerte investiert sind werden ihr Glück in ein paar Monatn oder Jahren kaum noch fassen können.

Denn nicht nur Silber wird steigen sondern auch das Gold wird in ein paar Monaten oder Jahren
