Antwort auf Beitrag Nr.: 54.042.556 von phobieeee am 09.01.17 17:28:41Möchte hier in dem Zusammenhang noch mal 3 Sätze aus der News vom 15.12. hervorheben.

"Further leach tests are under way using only deionized water."

"Additional metallurgical testing is planned to determine if either bulk mining and heap leaching or in situ leaching may be feasible for lithium recovery at Bonnie Claire."

"McClelland Laboratories Inc. of Sparks, Nev., has been selected to conduct advanced metallurgy to determine the feasibility of dilute acid leaching of the sediments producing a lithium brine that could then be treated by conventional means currently used by lithium mines producing from brine."

      Heap Leaching Evaluation ©2009
Recommended Testing Program for Copper Ores
      Dr. Ronald J. Roman, P.E.
      Leach, Inc.
      Tucson, AZ85749

The aim of a test program to evaluate the heap leaching process for treating a copper ore is to determine the copper recovery/time response of the ore as a function of the ore characteristics and the operating parameters of the heap leach and to measure the reagent consumption as a function of ore characteristics and operating parameters. There are six tasks undertaken to do this.Typically, the entire evaluation process requires from six months to one year for an oxide ore and up to three years for a sulfide copper ore plus the time required for a final confirmation test.Preliminary results are generally available within three to six months.

      Task #1Mineralogical assay
The first task is the “mineralogical assay”.This is a simple analytical procedure which determined the percentage of copper in the ore which will respond to leaching like an oxide copper mineral, a secondary sulfide copper mineral, and a primary copper mineral. In addition sub-groups of minerals may be identified within each class of minerals. It is not a substitute for a full mineralogical study of the ore. The results of this test will give a good, although approximate, measurement of the maximum copper recovery that can be expected from the ore and the time to reach the ultimate economic recovery.Typically a mineralogical assay is run on each sample which has been submitted for a copper assay to be able to map the deposit by the ore’s leaching characteristics. An assay lab can generally run 20 to 40 samples at one time and have results within two days.

      Task #2 Acid Consumption Test
The purpose of the acid consumption test is to estimate the net acid requirements to leach the ore. This test is conducted on pulverized ore and measures the amount of acid consumed by the ore over a period of about six or eight hours – the time for the ore to react with the acid. Two levels of acid concentration are tested to determine how the ore’s acid consumption is affected by the leach solution acid strength. The results of this test over estimates the acid consumption which will be experienced in a commercial leaching operation but determines if a cure stage is beneficial before leaching and gives a good estimate of the leach solution acid content which should be maintained during leaching.Typically several acid consumption tests are run on each ore type identified by the project geologist so that the deposit can be mapped by the acid required for leaching.Acid consumption tests are generally run is sets of six to 10 either by the assay lab or a metallurgical lab technician. Results can be obtained in two or three days.

Task #3 Composite Sample Leach Tests
The first leach tests to be run are column tests run on a single composite of the ore.The purpose of this series of column tests is to determine if the ore responds to leaching as described in the text books.Depending on the copper mineralogy and the type of deposit the response of the ore to leaching can fall into one or several categories. Each category responds to the heap leach operating parameters differently and, therefore, will require different operating conditions. The results of this series of test will suggest a “base case” set of operating parameters to be used for the second set of column tests run in Task #4.
Depending on the ore type and grade, between eight and 12 column tests are run on the single composite. The operating parameters for each of the tests are selected to show how the copper recovery/time curve and the acid consumption/copper recovery curve vary with operating parameter. The range of operating parameters evaluated is determined from the results of the tests run in Tasks #1 and #2.From the results of these tests a “standard” set of operating parameters is selected with which the column tests in Task #4 are run.Because each of the column leach tests is run with its own set of operating parameters individual column tests may be completed within 30 days or as long six months. Most metallurgical testing labs are capable of running 15 to 40 column tests concurrently.

Task #4 Ore Variability Column Tests
Once the composite sample column leach tests are completed or nearly completed a second series of column leach tests is undertaken. The purpose of this series of tests is to determine the degree of variability in the response of different samples from the ore deposit to the leaching process. At least 30 individual samples should be collected from the deposit for column leach tests.A mineralogical assay and acid consumption test should be run on each sample. Each of the +30 columns is run under identical operating parameters. The operating parameters are selected based of the results of the composite sample column tests.Typically, the operating parameters selected are not those thought to be most appropriate for the commercial leach operation but chosen to allow the column test program to be completed within a time schedule dictated by the project schedule. As many of the characteristics of the individual ore samples which can be quantified are measured and the copper recovery/time curve and acid consumption/ copper recovery curve scrutinized to determine how they are affected by each of these ore characteristics. The operating parameters of the column leach test will determine, to a large degree, the length of time required to complete the test. For example, a four meter tall column may take as much as twice as long to reach the same recovery as a two meter tall column and a column loaded with ore crushed to -20 mm may require four times as long to reach the same recovery as a column loaded with ore crushed to -10 mm.The columns should be leached well passed the time thought to be the economic limit of copper recovery. The acid consumptions obtained and recoveries from these column tests are then used in the simulations of the commercial operation.

Task #5 Simulation of the Commercial Operation
The results of the variability column tests are the input to the computer simulation of the commercial operation. The advantage of computer simulation is that the response of the ore to operating parameters not actually included in the column leach test program can be estimated. For example the results of heap leaching a 10 meter high heap of ore crushed to -35 mm can be estimated even though the column tests never exceeded three meters in height and the crush size of the ore in the columns never was coarser than 20 mm.In addition, whereas it may take a 10 month column tests to generate the copper recovery/time curve for a given set of operating parameters the copper recovery/time curve for the same set of operating parameters can be estimated in a day by computer Simulation.
The mine schedule listing the characteristics of each block of ore in the mining sequence combined with the computer simulation of the copper recovery/time curve for ore with those characteristics then generates the copper production schedule over the life of the mine.Together with the appropriate costs the economics of the operation are then calculated for a given mine schedule and set of heap leach operating parameters.Various sets of operating parameters are evaluated to determine the optimum economic operating parameters.A final column or pilot field test heap is then designed to confirm the computer projected response of the ore to heap leaching.

Task #6 Confirmation of Projected Heap Leaching Response
Once the computer simulation of the various possible operating parameters has identified the economic optimum set of operating parameters a final column or pilot test heap is designed and run to confirm the computer predictions. The operating parameters of this test are those that will be used in the commercial operation.Because the time for this test it limited the results will be those of one cell of a commercial operation, however, this is sufficient to confirm the computer projections. This final test may take from six months to 2 years to complete.
