      Guten Morgen zusammen,

      meine Frage geht an diejenige, die hier vll schon länger dabei sind.
      Gibt es Gründe warum man hier so wenig über Auscann liest? Scheinen ja quasi nicht existent zu sein, wenn man nur hier liest.

      Auch die Umsätze in Deutschland sind ganz gering?!

      Vielen Dank und liebe Grüße

      Dennis

      World Cannabis News

      29/01/2019 Germany Is Looking for Its First-Ever (Legal) Pot Growers - Germany’s leap into homegrown medical marijuana is nothing if not orderly. The government is moving to assure a local supply of the drug by giving out grower contracts for 10,400 kilograms (22,928 pounds) of pot over the next four years. The Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices’s so-called Cannabis Agency will choose between 79 bidders from growers by the end of June, the agency said on Monday. Germany has relied on imports from the Netherlands and Canada since it legalized medical marijuana in March 2017. Now it’s aiming for the first local harvest by the end of next year. Producers and pharmacies will still be allowed to buy from foreign growers, but the tender will ensure a high-quality native supply is also available, said Maik Pommer, a spokesman for the drugs agency. “It’s about ensuring the security of the supply,” Pommer said. He wouldn’t comment on where the main growing regions will be, though the contracts are being given out in 200-kilogram lots to make them accessible for small growers, reports Bloomberg;
      29/01/2019 Thailand to revoke foreign patent requests on marijuana - Thailand on Monday effectively revoked all foreign patent requests for the use of marijuana, after fears foreign firms would dominate a market thrown open last month when the government approved the drug for medical use and research. The junta-appointed parliament in Thailand, a country which until the 1930s had a tradition of using marijuana to relieve pain and fatigue, voted to amend the Narcotic Act of 1979 in December in what it described as “a New Year’s gift to the Thai people”. While countries from Colombia to Canada have legalised marijuana for medical or even recreational use, the drug remains illegal and taboo across much of Southeast Asia. But in Thailand, the main controversy with the legalisation involved patent requests by two foreign firms, British giant GW Pharmaceuticals and Japan’s Otsuka Pharmaceutical, filed before the change to the law. Thai civil society groups and researchers feared domination by foreign firms could make it harder for Thai patients to get access to medicines and for Thai researchers to get marijuana extracts, reports Reuters.
      28/01/2019 New bills would legalize recreational marijuana in Minnesota - Two Minnesota lawmakers have proposed legislation that would legalize recreational marijuana to the state, hoping to start what they acknowledge will be a long and contentious discussion. Edina Democrat Melissa Franzen introduced the measure in the Senate, and Golden Valley Democrat Mike Freiberg proposed it in the House. They said at a news conference their proposal focuses on establishing a regulatory framework for legal sales of recreational cannabis starting in 2022 and for taxing them. Franzen and Freiberg say they’re hoping to at least get hearings on the issue. While there’s a new Democratic majority in the Minnesota House, Republicans still hold a slim majority in the state Senate, where Majority Leader Paul Gazelka issued a statement saying that he doesn’t think the legislation will pass this year, reports Washington Post;
      28/01/2019 Trump Attorney General Pick Puts Marijuana Enforcement Pledge In Writing - William Barr, President Trump's nominee to serve as the next U.S. attorney general, made headlines earlier this month when he pledged during his Senate confirmation hearing not to "go after" marijuana companies that comply with state laws. Now, in response to written questions from senators, Barr is putting that pledge on paper, in black and white. He's also calling for the approval of more legal growers of marijuana for research, and is acknowledging that a recent bill legalizing hemp has broad implications for sale of cannabis products. "As discussed at my hearing, I do not intend to go after parties who have complied with state law in reliance on the Cole Memorandum," he wrote, referring to Obama-era cannabis enforcement guidance that then-Attorney General Jeff Sessions rescinded last year. That said, Barr isn't committing to formally replacing the Cole Memo, which generally directed federal prosecutors not to interfere with state marijuana laws, with new guidance reiterating the approach, reports Forbes;
      28/01/2019 Victoria has high hopes of becoming cannabis bowl of Australia - Medicinal cannabis farms are sprouting up around Australia, with demand for the product ramping up in spite of some doctors warning the drug is "not the cure-all" many believe it to be. Authorities have only granted 3,200 approvals for the legal use of the medicine in two-and-a-half decades, but with 2,500 of those coming last year, the sector is forecasting a year of big growth. And with more countries legalising medicinal cannabis in recent years, figures in the growing industry say access to export markets will play a key role in establishing the local industry. Medical cannabis is not approved by the nation's Therapeutic Goods Administration, but can be accessed through the Special Access Scheme, which authorises approved doctors to prescribe the drug. Trials of the drug are underway in Australia, and have the backing of the Australian Medical Association (AMA). Advocates are hoping use of the drug will become more widespread, and businesses are investing in growing and producing medical cannabis, pinning their hopes on a surge in the trade, reports ABC News;
      27/01/2019 Advertising Weed Is Tough When the Feds Consider You a Drug Dealer - America’s cannabis companies are racing to build national brands and market their wares to mainstream consumers. There’s just one problem: It’s hard to advertise your product when the federal government considers you a drug dealer. Facebook, which like Google prohibits marijuana ads, has kicked some weed sellers off Instagram. Earlier this month CBS declined to air a commercial touting the benefits of medical marijuana during the Super Bowl. Much the way banks are unwilling to finance cannabis startups, television networks and online advertising marketplaces are understandably cautious because the Feds still classify marijuana as a Schedule 1 drug alongside heroin and ecstasy. With a growing number of states legalizing weed for recreational and medical purposes, the U.S. market could surge eight-fold to $80 billion in sales by 2030, according to Cowen & Co. But it’s hard to see that happening unless companies can market their wares the way beer and liquor companies do. After decades of prohibition, many consumers need a push to give marijuana a try, reports Bloomberg;
      26/01/2019 CBD goes mainstream as bars and coffee shops add weed-related drinks to menus - Eric Cahan and his business partners opened an art-filled cafe in Manhattan’s East Village on April 10, 2018. Ten days later, Mamacha created a CBD-laced drink to celebrate the marijuana holiday, 420. Suddenly there was a line out the door. Cahan and Mamacha’s other owners sensed an opportunity. They learned as much as they could about CBD, reformulated their menu and curated oils, tinctures and other products to sell in the store. About half of Mamacha’s sales come from CBD drinks and products, with the other half coming from virgin matcha and coffee drinks. The company now plans to introduce in March a line of “functional elixirs” targeted for specific purposes like sleep, focus and anti-inflammation. Coffee. Cocktails. Lotion. Dog treats. You name it, CBD is probably in it. Most CBD is now federally legal thanks to the farm bill President Donald Trump signed in December. Companies still aren’t supposed to add CBD to food, drinks and dietary supplements, but many are doing it anyway. The Food and Drug Administration has said it plans to continue enforcing this ban but will also look into creating a pathway for such products to legally enter the market, reports CNBC;
      25/01/2019 2019 is the year the US legalizes cannabis, CEO of pot firm Acreage says - The United States will legalize marijuana at a federal level in 2019, according to the chief executive of a leading company in the industry. Kevin Murphy, of U.S.-based cannabis firm Acreage Holdings, said Thursday he believes that a key bill aimed at recognizing legalization of cannabis will be passed this year. The STATES Act, a piece of bipartisan legislation proposed by Senators Cory Gardner and Elizabeth Warren, would allow businesses like Murphy’s to operate legitimately, giving them access to bank accounts and letting them list on U.S. stock exchanges. “I believe 2019 is going to be the year” of weed legalization in the U.S., Murphy told CNBC’s Karen Tso at the World Economic Forum in Davos. “I believe that it’s going to take place through the STATES Act.”, reports CNBC;
      24/01/2019 Cannabis Business is Booming - Not Necessarily Good if You're an Investor - The pot industry faces a “massive inflationary bubble,” and that means investors have to be careful, a cannabis CEO told CNBC at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. “Many, many people are entering the cannabis space, which is terrific, but they actually have to have a purpose — they should be able to generate a business,” said Bruce Linton, chief of Canada-based Canopy Growth. “Everybody wants to be in the cannabis space, and I think investors have to be selective because … there will be a new name every week,” Linton warned. There are upcoming markets for the cannabis industry, including Israel and European countries. According to Daviau from Canaccord Genuity, “Europe is gonna go nice and slow.” Ultimately, he said, it’s a “great opportunity, but years in the making", reports CNBC."
