Coronavirus: Bay Area’s shelter-in-place to last through May
New extension will come later this week, officials said
      https://www.mercurynews.com/2020/04/27/bay-areas-shelter-in-…

The Bay Area’s shelter-in-place order will be extended through the month of May, officials said Monday, with the current restrictions largely remaining in place.

Seven jurisdictions that banded together on the previous orders — Santa Clara, Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, San Francisco, San Mateo, and Santa Clara counties, plus the city of Berkeley — will release details of the latest order this week, officials said in a joint statement, to replace the current order, which was set to expire May 3.

The latest mandate will allow for the “limited easing of specific restrictions for a small number of lower-risk activities,” the statement read, but it’s not yet clear which activities would be included in such a category.

County health departments will also release a set of parameters — in line with Gov. Gavin Newsom’s six indicators — to guide further loosening of the shelter-in-place orders.

Although the current shelter-in-place has substantially helped stem the spread of COVID-19, health officers are wary of lifting restrictions until cases and hospitalizations stabilize more, the statement continued.

“At this stage of the pandemic … it is critical that our collective efforts continue so that we do not lose the progress we have achieved together,” the statement read.

Tesla Backtracks From Recalling Some Workers to Plant This Week
      https://www.msn.com/en-us/finance/markets/tesla-backtracks-f…
      ...
Tesla Inc. has called off having at least some workers return to its lone U.S. vehicle-assembly plant this week and reverted to a plan to bring them back the day after a local stay-home order is scheduled to expire.

A paint department supervisor told employees Sunday in an email seen by Bloomberg News that there’s no need to come in this week to Tesla’s factory in Fremont, California. The company had told some workers in the paint and stamping operations to return April 29, days before San Francisco Bay area health orders are slated to end.

It’s unclear whether select workers in other parts of the plant are still being asked to report back this week. Tesla representatives didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.

VICTOR JOECKS: Sisolak hints coronavirus lockdown could last through June
      https://www.reviewjournal.com/?p=2013611?itm_source=parsely-…

Gov. Steve Sisolak doesn’t have a plan to open Nevada. But he’s rhetorically committed to extending the lockdown through June — and potentially much longer.

At his press conference on Tuesday, Sisolak warned that the coronavirus will spread if he reopens Nevada too soon. He’s waiting until the percentage of people testing positive for each day has decreased over 14 days.

This is going beyond “flattening the curve.” The initial goal of the unprecedented lockdowns was to keep the hospital system from being overwhelmed. Good news. Nevada did it. Hospitals have plenty of room.

Tesla Is Calling Some California Plant Workers Back Next Week

      • Staff in paint, stamping operations told to report April 29
      • Bay area health orders are still in effect through May 3
      ...
Tesla Inc. is calling some workers back to its lone U.S. vehicle-assembly plant starting next week, before San Francisco Bay area stay-home orders are scheduled to expire.

Supervisors told some staff in the paint and stamping operations of the factory in Fremont, California, to report to the facility on April 29. In messages seen by Bloomberg News, plant leaders ask workers to reply and say whether they plan to show up.

Tesla representatives didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.

      ...

--> daß die angesprochenen Arbeitskräfte vorher befragt werden, ist auch interessant. Sollte nämlich was mit Corona anschließend sein, kann Tesla ganz leicht behaupten: "Die wollten das doch so!"

Tesla, however, has refused to take this approach. The corporation has told over 130 of its shuttle drivers and another 130 janitors at its Fremont plant that it will pay them nothing during the shutdown. Tesla’s actions have left these workers scrambling to figure out how they will pay the bills.
