I think this is the third significant pricing and options change in 2019. Tesla’s chaotic pricing strategy kind of a running joke at this point.

There are some good news and bad news in this update.

The good news is that the best value Model 3, the Standard Range Plus, just got a little cheaper – although you need to get it in white.

As for the bad news, Model S and Model X base prices are now way up....

...Tesla Inc (TSLA.O) has dropped the standard-range variants of its Model X and Model S from its product lineup and adjusted prices across its range, in a sales push that comes days after the U.S. electric vehicle maker reported record deliveries.

To simplify its offerings, the automaker on Tuesday limited variants of its Model X sport-utility vehicle and Model S sedan to “Long Range” and the more expensive “Performance”. It also trimmed the price of its now entry-level Long Range variants.

The discontinuation of the standard-range variants, however, means a rise in starting prices - to $84,990 for the Model X and $79,990 for the Model S, excluding potential buying incentives.

Tesla also lowered the starting price of its mass-market Model 3 to $38,990.

“To make purchasing our vehicles even simpler, we are standardizing our global vehicle lineup and streamlining the number of trim packages offered for Model S, Model X and Model 3,” Tesla said in a statement.

“We are also adjusting our pricing in order to continue to improve affordability for customers.”

Earlier this month, Tesla said global deliveries of its three models in the second quarter of this year rose 51% from the previous quarter to a record 95,200 vehicles. The Model 3 accounted for about 80% of the total, underscoring the vehicle’s role as the linchpin of Tesla’s growth strategy.

The automaker said it expected production and deliveries to continue growing in Q3.

In China, the world’s largest market for electric vehicles, Tesla’s changes on Tuesday pushed the starting price of its Model X to 790,900 yuan ($115,068) and Model S to 776,900 yuan.

2. Look at our profits, we’re profitable! Would you have imagined? Record unit sales and we made a profit. Nobody, esp not the shorts, would have ever imagined that. We’re sustainable now.

5. Operational Cash Flow negative but still very strong given that we did leasing ourselves for M3.

As soon as the race begins, the Model S takes off and builds a huge gap from the pole-sitting modified Nissan Leaf e+.

You almost think it's a done deal for the Tesla, but rather surprisingly the gap doesn't seem to grow as the lap continues.

By the eleventh lap, the Tesla is noticeably slower and the Leaf e+ goes in for the kill, overtaking the Tesla on the pit straight and increasing the gap significantly until the chequered flag drops.

It's a might impressive effort; speculation is the Tesla's batteries had started to overheat and that the car was in a semi-limp mode by the end of it...

The Colombian kingpin's bro, Roberto, just launched his own flamethrower -- which is basically a glorified propane torch -- and it is eerily similar to Elon's product from early 2018. There's a reason for that, according to Escobar's camp ... he claims Elon and co. jacked the idea after one of his engineers paid a visit to the family compound in mid-2017.

We're told while Elon's guy was out in Medellin that summer, he and Robeto allegedly got to talkin' about a toy flamethrower that could "burn money." Burning cash -- literally -- is apparently a favorite pastime of the Escobars ... ya know, 'cause of how rich they were from all drug smuggling and whatnot in Pablo's heyday. Torching dinero ... the new wealth brag.

Anyway, Roberto's camp claims nothing ever came of that convo -- until, suddenly, in January of 2018 ... Elon announced his 'The Boring Company Not a Flamethrower,' which raked in millions in the first few days on digital shelves. We're told the Escobars were pissed.

Now, they've got their own version out in the marketplace -- which retails for $500 -- but more importantly, our Escobar sources say Roberto and la familia are weighing their options on potential legal action against Musk and TBC for alleged intellectual property theft.
