Kennt Ihr was besseres für Bio`s ?

Was meint Ihr?
Gruß
KitBo

Also good luck Frank

"PRAECIS plans to file a New Drug Application with the United States Food and Drug
Administration during the fourth quarter of 2000."

Da passt doch was nicht.

"In May 1997, we entered into an agreement with Sanofi-Synthelabo for the development and commercialization of abarelix products in Europe, Latin America, the
Middle East and various countries in Africa. Under our agreement with Sanofi-Synthelabo, we could receive up to approximately $69.6 million in non-refundable fees
and performance-based payments. For supply of product to Sanofi-Synthelabo, we receive a transfer price that varies based on sales price and volume. Additionally,
we are entitled to receive reimbursement for ongoing development costs. To date, we have received a total of approximately $31.5 million in non-refundable fees,
performance-based payments and reimbursement for ongoing development costs under the Sanofi-Synthelabo agreement.
In 1997 and 1998, we entered into agreements with Roche Products Inc. for the research, development and commercialization of abarelix products in all countries
outside of the Sanofi-Synthelabo territory. In December 1998, we and Roche mutually terminated the agreement. During the term of the agreement, Roche paid to us
approximately $28.2 million in performance-based and cost-sharing payments. Roche retains no rights to the abarelix program and has no equity interest in us.
Effective March 1999, we entered into an agreement with Amgen for the development and commercialization of abarelix products in the countries not covered by the
Sanofi-Synthelabo agreement. Under the agreement, we could receive up to $25.0 million in signing and performance-based fees. Of this $25.0 million, we have
received $10.0 million to date, which is the minimum amount payable under the agreement. The remaining $15.0 million is payable upon FDA approval of a new drug
application (NDA), relating to abarelix. Amgen will pay the first $175.0 million of all authorized costs and expenses associated with the research, development and
commercialization of abarelix products in the United States. We expect Amgen`s $175.0 million funding commitment to be fulfilled during the third quarter of 2000.
Following these expenditures, in general we will share with Amgen all subsequent United States research and development costs for abarelix products through the
launch period and we will reimburse Amgen for our share of the costs associated with establishing a sales and marketing infrastructure in the United States, as set
forth in the Amgen agreement. In general, we will receive a transfer price and royalty based on a sharing of the resulting profits on sales of abarelix products in the
United States. All program expenses in Amgen`s licensed territory outside the United States will be borne by Amgen, and we will receive a royalty on net sales of
abarelix products in those territories. "

PRAECIS PHARMACEUTICALS INCORPORATED Announces Submission Of New Drug Application for
Prostate Cancer Drug
CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Dec. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- PRAECIS PHARMACEUTICALS INCORPORATED (Nasdaq: PRCS - news) today announced the submission to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration of a New Drug Application (NDA) for abarelix depot, the first in a new class of prostate cancer drugs that avoids stimulating the secretion of testosterone, a male hormone that causes the growth of most prostate cancers. PRAECIS is developing abarelix depot for commercialization with Amgen Inc. in the United States, Japan, Canada and Asia-Pacific and with Sanofi-Synthelabo in all other global territories.
Approximately 85% of newly diagnosed prostate cancers are hormone-dependent tumors that require the male hormone testosterone for their continued growth. Lowering the body`s normal production of testosterone, therefore, is the primary goal of hormonal treatment. Available hormonal therapies, however, may cause an initial surge or increase in the level of testosterone before the desired effect of lowering testosterone occurs. Abarelix depot is designed to rapidly block the production of testosterone and avoid the initial testosterone level surge.
Results of two pivotal phase III safety and efficacy studies, presented in May 2000 at the annual meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, showed that zero percent ofpatients treated with abarelix depot experienced a testosterone surge compared to more than 80% of patients treated with leuprolide acetate depot, or a combination of leuprolide acetate depot plus bicalutamide, which are the most-prescribed hormonal drug and combination of drugs. Further, abarelix depot suppressed testosterone levels more rapidly, achieving suppression by day 8 in approximately 70% of patients compared to zero percent of patients treated with either leuprolide, or leuprolide plus bicalutamide. Each reatment therapy studied achieved and maintained testosterone suppression from day 29 through day 85 in more than 90% of patients. Reported side effects, such as hot flashes, were similar for all three hormonal treatment regimens. If approved, abarelix depot will compete in a $2.6 billion worldwide market for hormonal prostate cancer drugs. ``Based upon the results of the chemical studies that are included in the NDA package, we believe that abarelix depot represents an important medical advancement for the treatment of patients with prostate cancer,`` said Marc B. Garnick, M.D., PRAECIS` Chief Medical Officer.
``We are proud and delighted about our first product submission. PRAECIS is working hard to make abarelix depot the first in a succession of product submissions,`` said Malcolm L. Gefter, Ph.D., PRAECIS` Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer.

PRCS announced today that it is submitting a new drug application to
the FDA for Abarelix-Depot-M, the first in a new class of prostate
cancer drugs they`re developing to help block the production of
testosterone; this male hormone helps foster the growth of most
prostate cancers
PRCS is developing this drug for commercialisation with AMGN for
use in the US, Canada and Asia
PRCS is expecting the FDA to respond promptly; PRCS has qualified
Abarelix-Depot-M for a faster approval, but the company won`t hear
from the FDA for several months as to whether it will grant faster
approval
It would be reasonable to expect this drug to be available within the
year, pending successful approval by the FDA
PRCS has formed a partnership with AMGN to commercialise the drug
in the US and Japan; their commercialisation efforts will help bring the
drug to market
This business model is essentially a 50/50 sharing of expenses and
profits to be derived from the sale of the drug on a global basis
Abarelix is superior to existing hormonal therapies available; the drug
acts faster and brings the level of testosterone down in a manner that
is consistent with therapy
It doesn`t cause a stimulation of testosterone before it reduces levels,
nor does it require a secondary medication that many patients are
now taking to eliminate some of the problems of existing therapies
PRCS believes Abarelix will be the new standard of care for prostate
cancer patients at all stages of their disease
In clinical studies, PRCS has tested patients with prostate cancer
regardless of previous exposure to other therapies and all those
patients have shown the appropriate response to Abarelix
Says Gefter, this is a $2.5b market world-wide
Studies for the drug`s application in the treatment of endometriosis in
women are in advanced clinical testing as well; the drug has the
added benefit of suppressing estrogen levels in females, which is a
condition that is associated with hyperactive endometrial tissue
This is a common disease in women and, so far, PRCS is very
pleased that clinical studies show Abarelix will have a useful
indication in that setting as well

Pharmacopeia Announces 2000 Fourth Quarter and
Annual Financial Results
PRINCETON, N.J., Feb. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Pharmacopeia, Inc. (Nasdaq: PCOP - news) today announced results for the fourth
quarter and year ended December 31, 2000. Further details regarding Pharmacopeia`s fourth quarter performance will be
publicized in a conference call today at 5:00 p.m. EST and can be accessed via webcast by visiting www.pharmacopeia.com.
Replay information of this call is also available at the Company`s website. Forward looking and material information may be
discussed on this conference call.
Excluding charges (amortization of identifiable intangibles, amortization of goodwill and write-offs of in-process research and
development) related to acquisitions, pro forma net income for the 2000 fourth quarter rose 62% to $9.2 million, or $0.38 per
diluted share. This compares to pro forma net income of $5.7 million, or $0.27 per share, reported for the fourth quarter of 1999.
Pro forma net income for the year 2000 increased more than four-fold to $17.1 million, or $0.70 per share, compared to pro forma
net income of $4.1 million, or $0.20 per share, for the year 1999. Net income and net income per share for the 2000 fourth quarter
and full year periods, including acquisition related charges, was $5.8 million, or $0.24 per share, and $1.2 million, or $0.05 per
share, respectively. Pharmacopeia generated pro forma operating income of approximately $7.3 million and $9.1 million for the
2000 fourth quarter and full year, respectively.
Total revenue for the fourth quarter of 2000 rose 22% to $40.5 million compared to $33.1 million in the fourth quarter of 1999.
Total revenue for the full year 2000 rose 15% to $119 million compared to $104 million reported for the full year 1999. At
December 31, 2000, Pharmacopeia had cash, cash equivalents and marketable securities in excess of $165 million.
``2000 was a productive year for Pharmacopeia,`` said Joseph A. Mollica, Ph.D., Chairman, President, and CEO. ``We made
significant progress in further establishing ourselves as a leading provider of enabling science and technology for pharmaceutical
and chemical research.``
``In 2000, our Software business gained strength both internally and through acquisition. Our new GCG products that analyze,
annotate and report gene sequence data provide us with a leading position in the large and growing field of bioinformatics. In
addition, we now offer Oracle-based software solutions that manage the enormous amount of chemical and biological information
being generated today. These analysis and data management tools complement our industry leading modeling and simulation
products. Internal development in 2000, particularly in the areas of functional genomics, formulations, and ADMET, further
strengthened our industry leading position. In the months and years ahead, we will continue to expand these knowledge
management systems enterprise-wide.``
``Our Drug Discovery Services business also provided customers with tangible scientific success in 2000,`` continued Dr. Mollica.
``New drug discovery programs with Schering AG and Progenics, in addition to success- based milestone payments from
Schering-Plough, Roche Bioscience, Organon, and Schering AG, contributed to our progress in 2000. Importantly, the drug
discovery services that we have performed internally and on behalf of our customers over the past several years have resulted in a
current pipeline of 36 active drug discovery programs. This collection confirms our belief that our approach to drug discovery is
effective and may provide us with significant financial upside in the years ahead. In 2001, we will work to add additional programs
to this pipeline, to progress multiple programs toward clinical development, and to gain funding for those programs not currently
partnered. Our newly announced drug discovery collaborations with Amgen represent solid movement in this direction.``
