Microsoft and embedded chip (MSFT, INTC, MIPS, ARMHY) by Allen Wan

Microsoft is expected to announce Tuesday an alliance with several semiconductor makers that will allow them to
develop customized chips for devices running embedded versions of its operating systems, the Wall Street Journal
reported in its online edition. The software giant plans to allow chip makers like Intel, MIPS Technologies and ARM
Holdings to modify the source code used to create its CE operating system. This would represent the first time
Microsoft has allowed developers to modify its source code.
