JPEG2000 has been developed by an international image compression expert group (ISO/IEC JTC l/SC 29/WG1), in which
Algo Vision led the German delegation, and is the successor of the well-known >jpeg< image format. Based on new wavelet
technology JPEG 2000 provides much improved compression rates and higher visual quality, to satisfy the ever-increasing demands of the market. Algo Vision will further advance JPEG2000 by integrating ""Water Marking"" technology, that allows identification of ownership and copyright protection of digital images, into its codecs.

The strength of JPEG2000 lies in its broad flexibility, and extensive features. The new standard is capable of lossless image compression for applications in which pixelwise exact reconstruction of images is preferred to a high compression ratio. It provides mechanisms for error correction and error resilience, allowing transmission of JPEG2000 images over noisy channels, such as mobile applications. Furthermore, JPEG2000 allows applications to work on huge images up to four billion x four billion pixels.

JPEG2000 provides a new image format for the internet, where high compression, combined with the highest visual quality, provides essential quick image transfers. JPEG2000`s flexibility will prove useful in such areas as mobile applications, digital photography or digital image storage.

Gut zu sehen, dass ich mit meiner Vermutung, die ich seit letzten Herbst im Kopf hin- und herwälze (Wavelet Compression), doch Recht hatte. So richtig glauben konnte ich ja den Ausführungen des Vortragenden von Algo Vision seinerzeit nicht, da mir die Nummer zuerst für so eine kleine Firma zu groß erschien, aber das Vorurteil würde schnell widerlegt. Die Ad-Hoc hat sicher nicht so jeder mitbekommen, da das Interesse bei uns noch recht bescheiden ist. Wenn das aber mal in die offiziellen Medien kommt, dass eine deutsche Firma (genauer die deutsche Niederlassung einer Firma mit Steuersitz in GB) JPEG 2000 mitgestaltet hat und als eine der ersten den Standard in ihre Produkte integiert, wird die Firma jeder so kennen, wie das Fraunhofer Institut wegen ihrer MP3-Entwicklung. Die Kurs-Phantasie brauche ich keinem Leser hier zu beschreiben.

Was schätzt Du was das für den Kurs bedeutet. Bin schon seit Dezember 1999 investiert und halte eigentlich viel von der Firma. Habe das Hoch von 36 Euro mitbekommen,aber auch das Tief von 1,45 Euro. Gekauft habe ich bei 4,80 und überlege nachzukaufen. Auf das die Firma bekannt wird und mal wieder steigt.

Ich wünschte, ich hätte noch Cash , ich würde AVSN nachkaufen. War etwas zaghaft beim Kauf, auch wenn mein letzter Kaufkurs noch nicht wieder erreicht ist, denke ich, wird ab Montag mehr mit der Aktie los sein. Die werden im Ask sicher gleich steigen, aber die News ist erst auf der EASDAQ Homepage zu lesen (außer bei Algovision.com selbst). Da sich ja bei uns offensichtlich noch wenig für AVSN nteressieren bzw. kaum kennen, wird es auch erst mehr Interessaeten geben, wenn diese neue News auf anderen Medien läuft. Das wird nicht mehr lange dauern. Meine Vermutung, dass erst zur Cebit was Neues kommt, passt wohl nicht so richtig. Sonst hätte man mit der Ankündigung einen Produktes für den April gewartet. Aber vielleicht gibt es ja bald eine weitere News über erfolgreiche Tests mit Siemens. Da werden sich sicher noch mehr Leute was drunter vorstellen können.

Wann die Aktie wieder bei 4,8€ steht, kann ich natürlich nicht sagen. Das hängt sicher viel von der EASDAQ ab (von der allg. Stimmung an den Märkten selbstverständlich auch). Bei uns wird der Kurs ja oft nur getaxt wegen kein Handel.

Die Ad-hoc von AVSN kam ja morgens um 9:00, was die Kursrally trotz bescheidenem europäischen und amerikanischen Börsenhandel recht gut laufen ließ. Montag schätze ich weitere Kurssteigerungen. Also frühzeitig kaufen, wen möglich. Ich denke, die Aktie wird interessant, wenn es ein paar Leute mehr mitkiegen. Ich werde sie auf jeden Fall bis über die Cebit halten, egal was passiert.

Jetzt wird auch mal bei uns darüber berichtet: Golem.de. Aber mehr als eine Übersetzung ist es kaum. Eine technische Wertung gab es nur von einem Leser, der sich beklagt hatte, dass eine Firma darauf ein Patent angemeldet hat, womit es in freier Software kaum nutzbar wäre. Für mich als Investor ist das positiv zu beurteilen, es soll ja damit schließlich Geld ins Haus kommen.

JPEG2000 soll das alte JPEG-Format ablösen


Das an der Entwicklung des JPEG2000-Formats beteiligte Unternehmen Algo Vision will den ersten Teil von JPEG2000 bis April in die eigenen Produkte implementieren. Dies geschieht in Form von Drop-In-Bibliotheken und soll sich so in bestehende Applikationen einbinden lassen.

Das neue Bildformat JPEG2000 soll den alten JPEG-Standard ablösen und so für kleinere Grafik-Dateien sorgen. Der Vorteil des neuen Formats liegt in der höheren Kompression, die durch Einsatz des Wavelet-Verfahrens erreicht wird. Trotz der hohen Kompression und der daraus resultierenden geringen Dateigröße sollen keine nennenswerten Bildstörungen (Artefakte) entstehen.

Außerdem besitzt das JPEG2000 Mechanismen zur automatischen Fehlerkorrektur, so dass auch bei schlechten Datenleitungen wie beim mobilen Zugriff eine gute Bildübertragung gewährleistet sein soll. Das Bildformat ermöglicht es Applikationen, mit großen Bildern von bis zu 4 x 4 Milliarden Bildpunkten zu hantieren.

JPEG2000 wurde vom JPEG2000-Konsortium der International Standards Organization (ISO) entwickelt. Die Spezifikationen stehen seit Anfang Februar vergangenen Jahres fest. Algo Vision vertrat in diesem Konsortium die deutsche Delegation und will bei der Entwicklung des JPEG2000-Codes auch noch Wasserzeichen-Funktionen ergänzen.

Kürzlich wurde der erste Teil von JPEG2000 vom Deutschen Institut für Normung (DIN) anerkannt und im April wird die Veröffentlichung des ISO-Standards erwartet.

Das JPEG2000-Konsortium der International Standards Organization (ISO) hat die Spezifikationen für einen neuen Algorithmus festgelegt, der digitales Bildmaterial bis zu 200fach ohne nennenswerte Artefakte (Bildstörungen) komprimiert. Damit können Soft- und Hardwarehersteller ab sofort Produkte entwickeln, die JPEG2000 unterstützen.

Komplett festgeschrieben und als ISO-15444-Standard festgelegt wird JPEG2000 jedoch erst im Jahr 2001. Bis dahin können allerdings nur noch Details geändert und Spezialerweiterungen festgelegt werden - um z.B. verschiedene Bildbereiche unterschiedlich zu komprimieren oder JPEGs um Animationen zu erweitern. Die Spezialerweiterungen können lizenzpflichtig sein, der Rest des neuen JPEG-Standards ist es jedoch nicht, was eine schnelle Durchsetzung des Standards garantiert.

Im Gegensatz zur momentan weit verbreiteten Version des JPEG-Kompressionsformats greift JPEG2000 auf die wesentlich leistungsfähigeren Wavelet- anstatt auf Fourier-Transformationen zurück. Die Kompressionsraten von JPEG2000 liegen bei verlustbehafteter Wavelet-Kompression bei 200:1, bei verlustfreier Wavelet-Kompression bei immerhin noch 2:1. Damit ist JPEG2000 vor allem für Internet-Anwendungen und Webseiten mehr als willkommen, die das Netz dank ihrer Grafikfülle arg strapazieren.

Algo Vision plc is pleased to announce that its subsidiary Algo
Vision Systems GmbH, Volkswagen AG and nine further partners,
from industry and research, have started the ""Embedded Online
Service"" (EOS) joint project, sponsored by the
Bundesministerium fur Bildung und Forschung (Federal ministry
for education and research).

The project partners include the following companies: ZF
Friedrichshafen, Bekum, Schutte, Beckhoff, Schleicher, the
system house Symmedia, the Fraunhofer Institute for Machine
Tools and Forming Technology as well as the Ruhr University,
Bochum.

The joint project, which is coordinated by the Chair for
Production Systems (Lehrstuhl fur Produktionssysteme, LPS) of
the Ruhr University, Bochum, aims to develop an ""Internet-based
reference architecture for the remote servicing of machines"".

The project brief is to design a uniform software platform,
which, when servicing is required, can access the machine
controls externally, irrespective of the machine type .
Currently, efficient organisation of remote servicing is
prevented by the number of machines and the varying manufacture
type. In future the service headquarters should need only one
browser-based software to remotely fix malfunctions in any
number of different machines. In addition to the development of
the software architecture, new services, which go beyond the
classic TeleService, shall be drawn up and transposed as
prototypes.

Algo Vision will contribute to the project their video and
still image compression technologies, which are then refined
according to the respective project results.

The EOS project is aligned to develop a solution, which
reflects both the interests of the users and the
manufacturers. The results will be subject to public working
groups, allowing feedback, which will help in reducing the
barriers to the application of TeleService, as well as
emphasise the importance of the project within the German
machine manufacturing industry.

Algo Vision plc, (""Algo Vision"" or the ""Company""), is pleased
to announce that its subsidiary Algo Vision Systems` video
compression technology is now compliant with the new algorithm
standard for digital signal processors (DSP) from Texas
Instruments.

Algo Vision Systems` video compression technology can now be
used for next generation mobile devices such as Video mobile
phones, Digital Cameras, PDA`s and smart-phones. Algo Vision`s
algorithms provide encoding and decoding functionality for
images. Encoding enables fast transportation over mobile
networks and decoding supports displaying images such as those
on mobile devices.

The algorithms are written according to the TMS320TM DSP
Algorithm Standard that provides easy to use rules and
guidelines for software developers to follow. The compliance to
the standard for Texas Instruments makes it easier for product
developers to integrate Algo Vision compression technology into
their future product designs, based on Texas Instruments`
digital signal processors, for example the C6000 or C5000.

The C5000, for example, is being broadly integrated into
today`s cellular phones as well as 3rd Generation mobile phones
and future technologies, such as PDA`s. The C5000 is the most
commonly used hardware in the telecommunications industry, and
will also be utilised in the emerging digital camera market.
The C6000 has different applications, and can be found in the
base stations of mobile networks.

As an official Third Party Member Algo Vision will take
advantage of the market potential of Texas Instruments`
products. Customers, who require compression technology for
their Texas Instruments digital signal processors, may benefit
from quicker revenues, broader markets, significantly reduced
product development schedules, increased reliability, increased
product value, and lower support and development costs at a
reduced risk.

The Algo Vision video compression technology also meets the
established H.261 standard that is used in many professional
and private fields of application.

With the preparation of the Algo Vision technology for Texas
Instruments products Algo Vision assures both its market
opportunity and its position in the future of UMTS mobile
product markets.

The next Algo Vision technology that will be compliant with the
Texas Instruments standard is the ""AV-J2K"" JPEG2000 library. It
soon also will be ready for the use on C5000 and C6000 DSP
families of Texas Instruments.


With ""AV-J2K"" Algo Vision provides a library that is fully
compatible to the new JPEG2000 standard, released in April
2001. The new image format provides better quality at higher
compression rates than the old JPEG format. JPEG2000 is also
best known for progressive decompression allowing early viewing
of pictures during transmission. A feature that is essential
for both mobile devices and internet applications. Some of the
applications that will benefit directly from JPEG 2000 are
image archiving, internet, digital photography, medical imaging
and mobile devices, such as mobile phones, smart-phones or
PDA`s.

announce that in the 3rd Quarter 2001, Algo Vision Systems
GmbH, Bremen, will implement a shift in its strategic
orientation, in connection with a substantial cost reduction
exercise.

Development of our Telebusiness software has been completed and
a comprehensive product range is now available. Marketing
materials for the various target markets have been created and
extensive training has taken place in the Fleischhauer sales
departments.

In future, the responsibility for product support within the
TeleBusiness will be assumed by Algo Vision Schweiz. Sales,
service and reseller support will be taken over by Fleischhauer
Bremen GmbH.

These changes will allow Algo Vision Systems to focus on the
marketing of licences for basic technologies such as AV-LIB
(videoconferencing library based on standards); JPEG2000;
Watermarking, and WEV (video), based on wavelets.

These measures result in a substantial cost reduction for the
Bremen location with a simultaneous expansion in the areas of
licenses and customised developments.

DaimlerChrysler web-based B2B solution for replacement parts
launched

Algo Vision plc, ("Algo Vision" or the "Company"), are pleased to
announce the latest launch of Algo Vision Mediatec GmbH. Algo
Vision Mediatec have created a web-based business-to-business
trading platform for engine parts which contains sophisticated
modules for offer requests and online customer consulting. This
development was commissioned by the Berlin division of
DaimlerChrysler-Motorenwerk AG.

This online replacement parts market offers registered customers
the opportunity to receive processed Mercedes Benz replacement
parts directly from DaimlerChrysler AG. Algo Vision Mediatec
GmbH, using state-of-the-art Java technologies based on standard
software, has created an online shop equipped with a number of
tools: a list of favourites for communication between consultant
and customer, complex shopping cart functions, and scaleable
product searches, are only a few of the developed features.

The advantages arising from the substantial simplification and
rationalisation of the order processes are evident: Process
optimisation, high satisfaction of existing customers, as well as
the acquisition of new customers, reduction of stock levels and
increases in turnover. Moreover, the results of the statistical
analysis stemming from the customer and order data, flow directly
into an effective order and warehouse optimisation system.

Through the use of standard catalogue software the project
timeframe was reduced to 12 weeks; and this with a project team

Ist jmnd dabei am 27.July? ich hoffe das dort fundierte infos und ein ausblick auf die nächsten 2Jahre kommen. der Kurs sieht ja momentan leider nicht do gut aus (wie der gesamte Markt) , ob daraus einige Dinge für das Board(of directors) resultieren ist bislang nicht bekannt, aber ich kann mir nicht vorstellen das man den alten Stil ohne Konsequenzen so weiter treibt.

Einbau in die Corel Draw Graphics Suite


Corel lizenziert das JPEG2000-Format LuraWave.jp2 der Berliner Datenkompressions-Spezialisten Algo Vision LuraTech für die weltweite Implementierung in die Corel Draw Graphics Suite. Anwendern der für September angekündigten Version 11 des Profi-Tools für die Bildbearbeitung wird so erstmalig die kostenlose Nutzung des JPEG2000-Standards zur Verfügung stehen. Damit können Designer nach Angaben von Corel ihre Arbeiten völlig lizenzfrei im JPEG2000-Format komprimieren und speichern.

"Wir haben die CorelDRAW Graphics Suite 11 für Designer entwickelt, die mehr Freude an der Arbeit haben wollen", so Amanda Bedborough, Executive Vice-President, EMEA der Corel Corporation. "Damit passt die JPEG2000-Unterstützung genau in unser Konzept: Ein international standardisiertes und extrem leistungsfähigen Dateiformat, das es erlaubt, digitale Bilder bei exzellenter visueller Qualität und geringsten Dateigrößen zu speichern hilft den Designern, ihre häufig datenintensiven Arbeiten kostengünstiger zu archivieren und über das Internet zu versenden."

Mit Hilfe des für viele Plattformen verfügbaren LuraWave.jp2 C-SDKs kann das JPEG2000-Format in eigene Software-Entwicklungen integriert oder bestehende Grafikprogramme und Viewer mit JPEG2000 nachgerüstet werden, so die Berliner Entwickler.

"Die weltweite Etablierung des als Nachfolger des bekannten JPEG-Verfahrens angetretenen patentfreien Grafikstandards JPEG2000 geht mit der Lizenzierung des LuraWave.jp2-Formates durch Corel einen enormen Schritt nach vorn", so Carsten Heiermann, Geschäftsführer der Algo Vision LuraTech. Corel setze ein Zeichen, denn JPEG2000 sei der Bildstandard der nahen Zukunft und Corel gehöre zu den ersten Herstellern, die ihren Kunden den Schritt in den zukünftigen Grafikalltag derart einfach machten, lobte Heiermann das Engagement von Corel.

Ich habe gehört, dass sich in der Vorstandsetage was tun soll. Man will angeblich den Vorstand austauschen und Leute, die sich mit Marketing und Verkauf besser auskennen, holen. Es war auch ziemlich ruhig die letzten Wochen!


Der Anstieg im Oktober kommt auch nicht von ungefähr. Es brodelt hinter den Kulissen! Ich hoffe Du bist noch dabei, Du könntest bald sehr viel Freude mit ALGO VISION haben.

Ich bin durch Zufall auf diese Aktie gestoßen und bin nach ausgiebiger Recherche schwersens begeistert von Algo Vision!

Für mich ist Algo eine der wenigen Firmen die die IT Krise überstanden hat!

Die Technologie ist richtungsweisend und hat große Chancen zum Durchbruch!

Der seit kurzem steil ansteigende Chart spiegelt die positive Stimmung der bereits investierten wieder indem sie meineserachtens auf diesem tiefen Niveau nachkaufen!

So weit ich es herausfinden konnte hat Algo Vision ein paar starke Großaktionäre, die noch immer fest an den Erfolg der Firma glauben!

Und ich glaube auch daran. Darum habe ich mir vor kurzem 8000 St. ins Depot gelegt. vorerst einmal!

ISO-Standard zur Archivierung farbiger Dokumente


Mit LuraDocument.jpm stellt Algo Vision LuraTech die weltweit erste Implementierung des neuen ISO-Standards JPEG2000/Part6 vor. JPEG2000/Part6 wurde speziell für die Kompression echter Dokumente, bestehend aus Bildern und Text, in Farbe entwickelt.

So werden bei JPEG2000/Part6 gescannte Dokumente zunächst in Segmente aufgeteilt, d.h. die Bildbestandteile werden von den Textbestandteilen getrennt, wobei der Text nochmals in den reinen schwarz-weißen Text und die Textfarbe aufgeteilt wird. Diese so entstehenden drei Schichten werden getrennt voneinander komprimiert, wobei der Textlayer verlustfrei erhalten bleibt, so dass die Textqualität optimal erhalten bleibt, was insbesondere für die Lesbarkeit und die OCR-Fähigkeit von großer Bedeutung ist.

Die weiteren beiden Layer werden jeder für sich in JPEG2000/Part1 - der Bildkompression innerhalb der JPEG2000-Formatfamilie - komprimiert. Dies soll zu enormen Kompressionsraten von 1:100 bis 1:500 führen.

Da bereits LuraDocument einen ähnlichen Ansatz verfolgt, handelt es sich beim neuen LuraDocument.jpm in erster Linie um ein standardkonformes Update in der LuraDocument-Produktfamilie. In Kürze sollen dann auch für LuraDocument.jpm alle von LuraDocument bekannten Tools zur Verfügung stehen.

Als Dateiendung für JPEG2000/Part6 ist ".jpm" vorgesehen, während LuraDocument ".ldf"-Dateien erzeugt hat. Neben Algo Vision LuraTech wollen aber auch zahlreiche andere Unternehmen das neue Kompressionsformat unterstützen, darunter Xerox, Ricoh und NEC.

Für Kurzentschlossene besteht noch die Möglichkeit, am Betatest-Programm für das LuraDocument.jpm C-SDK teilzunehmen. Beta-Testern stehen schon vor dem offiziellen Release detaillierte Informationen und der vollständige Support in Sachen JPEG2000/Part6 kostenfrei zur Verfügung. Die Termine zur JPM-Markteinführung

Die BETA-Version von LuraDocument.jpm C-SDK für Windows wird ab 1. Juli allen Teilnehmern an der Testphase zur Verfügung gestellt.
Die offizielle Markteinführung des Produkts ist für den 1. August 2003 vorgesehen.
Zeitgleich wird auch der Viewer LuraDocument.jpm ActiveX-Control für Internet Explorer angeboten.
Ebenfalls im August kommt das LuraDocument.jpm Command Line Tool für Batch Processing sowie LuraDocument.jpm Capture als Stand-Alone-Tool.
Anschließend sind weitere Software-Implementierungen und System Support-Lösungen geplant.
