Hab ich was verpennt?
Man is das heute ne Resonanz!
US$ und fällt weiter.

@Montezuma,

Regardless of which route it takes, MarchFirst will need a cash infusion to last
more than a few months, according to sources close to the company.
Talks are under way to bring in additional investors, since Francisco Partners
is likely to chip in only about half of the approximately $300 million
MarchFirst would need to make it through year-end, according to a tech source in
Silicon Valley.

Chicago-Based Internet Consultant Struggles to Cut Expenses
Mar 09, 2001 (Chicago Tribune - Knight Ridder/Tribune Business News via COMTEX)
-- Less than three months after receiving a $150 million cash infusion,
MarchFirst continues to struggle to cut expenses amid reports that founder Bob
Bernard is under pressure to resign as chief executive.
The reports are being fueled by speculation that Chicago-based MarchFirst will
need another cash infusion, despite the company`s statement to analysts in
February that it had enough capital to complete its turnaround. The company
would not comment on Bernard`s standing, or its financial position.
Since the Internet consultant was created a year ago with the merger of
Bernard`s Whittman-Hart and San Francisco-based USWeb/CKS, the collapse of
Internet stocks combined with the slowing economy has devastated MarchFirst`s
business prospects and its market value.
MarchFirst`s stock has fallen from a high of more than $80 per share when
Bernard announced the deal in late 1999 to close at $1.16 Thursday.
Bernard has disappointed investors repeatedly with assurances that the company`s
prospects were improving.
Yet despite a $150 million investment in December by technology private-equity
firm Francisco Partners and layoffs of at least 2,100 employees since November,
MarchFirst`s cost structure remains too high, tech sources in Chicago and
Silicon Valley said.
Some on Wall Street are clamoring for new management.
"It really needs to happen," said Jim Dougherty, an analyst with Prudential
Securities. "It`s hard to see MarchFirst rebuilding its credibility after what`s
happened without a pretty thorough management turnover at the top."
On Tuesday, MarchFirst took a first step by bringing in turnaround specialist
Michael Salvati as chief financial officer. Salvati, who replaces Peter Murphy,
is the company`s third chief financial officer in six months.
Sources said representatives from MarchFirst`s biggest stakeholder, Francisco
Partners, which owns 32 percent, are visiting the company`s headquarters daily
in an effort to head off another cash crisis.
In addition to cost cutting, MarchFirst is looking to sell assets, sources said.
The company recently shut down its 50 percent-owned venture capital arm,
BlueVector LLC, now an investment holding company with stakes in firms including
Chicago`s BlueMeteor Inc.
Though company officials declined to comment on whether Bernard would be
replaced as CEO or on the company`s cash position, a spokeswoman said in a
statement Thursday, "Francisco Partners is actively working with the MarchFirst
executive management team at its Chicago headquarters to help the company
realize its potential."
Sources speculated that Francisco would not provide more cash without replacing
Bernard. The spokeswoman would not elaborate beyond the statement.
In February, the last time MarchFirst executives spoke with analysts, they said
the company had $140 million in cash as of the end of January and would not need
to seek additional funding.
Still, several analysts remained skeptical, and their concerns increased after
CFO Murphy`s exit this week.
"His departure does raise questions," said Adam Frisch, a director at UBS
Warburg in New York. "Whenever you see a CFO depart, the warning flags come up,
especially when you see it in a company in a pretty serious financial
situation."

@ShareholderCGN,

Marchfirst Homepage offline!
Bin mal gespannt was da noch kommt!
Abwarten...
Vielleicht kauft ja IBM...
