Die Aktie bewegt sich in einem wichtigen Bereich. Zum einen ist die 5 $ Marke nicht weit. Oberhalb von 5 $ besteht wieder die Möglichkeit die Aktie zu shorten. Insofern ist oberhalb dieser Marke mit einem zunehmenden Verkaufsdruck zurechnen. Direkt oberhalb der 5 $ Marke verläuft außerdem eine wichtige Abwärtstrendlinie, die es zu beobachten gilt. Aktuell unterhalb des Kreuzwiderstands ist ein Kauf noch zu riskant. Man sollte die kapitalsstarken Marktteilnehmer erst einmal die Richtung vorgeben lassen. Möglicherweise wird erneut versucht einen Short Squeeze zu erzeugen. In einen solchen könnte man sich dann long "reinklemmen". Also: Commerce One ein Watchlist Kandidat. Bei einem schnellen Ausbruch über die eingezeichnete Abwärtstrendlinie, die leicht oberhalb von 5 $ verläuft, stopp loss abgesichert long gehen.

Commerce One hat insgesamt 197 Millionen ausstehende Aktien. 28,5% davon befinden sich in den Händen von Institutionellen, ein vergleichweise geringer Prozentsatz. Im Folgenden eine Aufslistung der Institutionellen, die besonders stark in Commerce One investiert sind. An erster Stelle PILGRIM BAXTER & ASSOCIATES LTD, die 3,618,500 Aktien halten. Im ersten Quartal 2001 hat PILGRIM 19,89% seiner Positionen abgebaut. Die Prozentangaben, die in Klammern angegeben sind, zeigen den Abbau von Positionen an, Prozentzahlen ohne Klammern zeigen den Zukauf von Positionen an. Commerce One - Zukunftsaussichten ?
Ein weiteres kritisches Quartal liegt vor den B2B-Investoren. In der nächsten Woche werden namhafte Unternehmen wie Commerce One und Ariba ihre Bilanzen der Öffentlichkeit preisgeben. Die Ergebnisse sind so schlecht wie noch nie in diesem Sektor.
Die Hoffnung der Investoren auf eine baldige Erholung wurde durch die Warnungen durch Major Player wie i2 Technologies und Commerce One zerschmettert.
Obwohl sich Ariba nicht in die Riege der warnenden Tech-Unternehmen einreihte, sehen Analysten auch hier kein großes Aufwärtspotential.
"Die großen, furchterregenden Überraschungen liegen vermutlich hinter uns," so Ian Morton von JP Morgan. "Aber wir erwarten auch keine herausragenden Earnings von keinem in der Gruppe."
Analysten zählen nun auf bewährte Unternehmen wie die Walldorfer SAP AG und Oracle, die den Sektor in seine nächste Wachstumsphase ziehen sollen. Ein weiterer Lichtpunkt am Himmel ist FreeMarkets. Das Unternehmen hat sich exklusiv darauf konzentriert, Software anzubieten, um Unternehmen das Auffinden von Produkten und Lieferanten zu erleichtern.
B2B Unternehmen betraten das Rampenlicht der Wall Street im Jahr 1999 und versprachen durch ihre Produkte den Unternehmen große Summen einzusparen.
Doch mit der Implosion der "Internet Bubble" und den darauf resultierenden starken Kapitalabflüssen aus den B2B-Unternehmen konnten die elektronischen Marktplätze nicht wie versprochen wachsen.
"Der B2B Marktplatz wird einfach ganz verschwinden," so Brent Thill von der CS First Boston. "Es wird ein paar wenige geben, die überleben, aber es gibt nicht genug, dass für jeden etwas übrig bleibt."
Analysten trennen nun den gesamten Sektor in zwei Lager ein: Zum einen gibt es die Anbieter von elektronischen Marktplätzen und zum anderen existieren die Anbieter von B2B-Applikationen.
Zur ersten Gruppe gehören Unternehmen wie Commerce One, Ariba, PurchasePro.com, VerticalNet und Internet Capital Group.
"Jeder dieser Jungs, die sich exklusiv auf Marktplätze spezialisiert haben, haben nun ein ziemlich großes Problem," so J. P. Gravitt von Salomon Smith Barney.
Die zweite Gruppe besteht aus Unternehmen wie i2, Oracle, PeopleSoft und SAP. Diese B2B-Konzerne bieten um ihr Kernprodukt herum solche Marktplätze an. Zwischenzeitlich hat man versucht, auf sogenannte Collaborative Software und private Exchanges Wert zu legen. Collaborative Software hilft den Unternehmen, online mit ihren Partnern und Lieferanten zusammenzuarbeiten. Hierbei müssen die Unternehmen nicht Teil eines Marktplatzes sein.
So stehen Unternehmen in dieser Sparte wie Agile Software, die Ariba ursprünglich akquirieren wollte, Parametric Technology und MatrixOne im neuen Rampenlicht der Anlegergemeinde.
Im Endeffekt werden laut Thill die Software-Produkte von Ariba und Commerce One von größeren Unternehmen geschluckt werden.
"Es ist einfach schwer vorstellbar, wie sich diese Unterehmen alleine durchschlagen wollen. Es ist nicht so, dass die Produkte von diesen Unternehmen nicht gut seien, doch sind auch diese nur Teil eines großen Bildes," so Thill.
Auch Goldman Sachs Analyst Tom Berquist ist dieser Meinung.
"B2B so wie wir es von vor einem Jahr kennen, ist definitv gestorben. Wenn man einen Blick auf die traditionellen Marktplätze wirft, ist das große Wachstum Meilen entfernt," so Berquist.

Has 600 Total Customers
Commerce One, Inc. (Nasdaq:CMRC), the e-marketplace company, today announced financial results for the quarter ended June 30, 2001.
Revenues for the current quarter totaled $101.3 million, an increase of 61 percent over revenues of $62.7 million for the quarter ended June 30, 2000.
Operating loss for the second quarter of 2001, excluding acquisition-related costs, interest, taxes, amortization of technology agreement, stock compensation and intangible assets, and other non-recurring charges, was $70.2 million, or $0.31 per share, as compared to $16.2 million, or $0.10 per share, for the corresponding quarter in 2000.
The net loss for the current quarter was $2,068.3 million, or $9.02 per share, as compared with a net loss of $43.1 million, or $0.28 per share, for the corresponding quarter in 2000. The second quarter net loss includes acquisition-related costs, interest, amortization of technology agreement, stock compensation and intangible assets, and certain one-time charges. These one-time charges include a non-cash charge of $1,712.8 million resulting from the impairment of intangible assets and equity investments, and a restructuring charge of $62.0 million.
