Was meint Ihr?

Schau dir vielleicht mal AMD an.

"Tiscali UK, Nortel Networks Activate UK`s First Commercial Carrier Voice Over IP Network
LONDON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 21, 2002--
Carrier Grade, Consolidated Network Expected to Reduce Costs, Provide New Services
Tiscali UK, a subsidiary of Tiscali, the Internet Communication company, is now believed to be the first UK service provider to carry live, commercial voice traffic on a single, consolidated, carrier-grade voice over IP (Internet Protocol) network - with activation of its new service based on Succession softswitches from Nortel Networks (NYSE:NT)(TSX:NT.).
Nortel Networks Succession Communication Server 2000 softswitch controls how voice traffic traverses the network, positioning Tiscali UK to drive reduced operational costs and to build a foundation for delivery of new, multimedia IP services. It also cost-effectively extends geographical coverage by enabling use of smaller footprint `media gateways` as `points-of-presence` under centralized control.
"Tiscali UK and Nortel Networks are radically changing the way UK phone services can be delivered by eliminating the need for separate voice and data networks," said Stephane Huet, chief operating officer, Tiscali UK. "We chose Nortel Networks voice over IP technology because it is second to none in the industry and was available for immediate deployment."
"This agreement will allow us to deliver a market-leading, robust and proven 2.5 gigabit network with 18 points-of-presence in cities across the UK, enabling us to handle growing customer demand for high-value IP and voice services," Huet said.
"This is a landmark achievement for the UK`s telecommunications infrastructure," said Colin Doherty, president, carrier voice over IP and data services, Nortel Networks EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa.)
"Just as manual switchboard operators were superceded by automated switching and analogue voice signals have been replaced by digital voice, all voice calls will eventually be carried over converged, packet networks," Doherty said. "With this new deployment, Tiscali UK has first-mover advantage to efficiently accommodate their customers` growth and deliver new voice services."
Voice over IP enables voice traffic to be broken down into smaller pieces and sent as data packets, allowing carriers to operate more cost-effectively and efficiently by using a common packet network to carry voice, data and video traffic.
All of Tiscali UK`s 18 locations use products from Nortel Networks voice over IP portfolio, including Succession Communication Server 2000 softswitches.
Tiscali UK forms part of Tiscali SpA., headquartered in Cagliari, Italy. The company UK was launched in July 2001 following the acquisitions of Liberty Surf, World Online and LineOne. Most recently, Tiscali UK acquired Tiny and Gateway ISP. Tiscali UK is positioned within the UK market as the fourth largest ISP.
Tiscali S.p.A., (Nuovo Mercato, Milan: TIS, Nouveau Marche, Paris: 005773), is the leading pan-European Internet Communication Company providing access, content and business applications, as well as innovative communications services. So.

Schon gut, sagt nix... Gejammer is vorbei.

Reuters Market News
S&P cuts Nortel corp credit rtg to single-B
Wednesday September 18, 4:49 pm ET
(The following statement was released by the ratings agency)
NEW YORK, Sept. 18, 2002--Standard & Poor`s Ratings Services today said it lowered
its ratings on telecommunications company Nortel Networks Ltd., including the
long-term corporate credit rating, which was lowered to single-`B` from double-`B`-minus,
following the company`s Aug. 27 announcement that revenues from continuing
operations in the third quarter of 2002 will be lower than previously forecast. The
outlook is negative.
The negative outlook reflects
Standard & Poor`s belief that plans
for Nortel to return to net profitability
by mid-2003 may not be achieved,
in light of accelerating marketplace
stresses. The Brampton, Ont.-based
company had US$4.4 billion of
combined lease-adjusted debt and
preferred stock outstanding at June
30, 2002.
"Nortel`s ratings continue to reflect
very challenging market conditions,
as the company`s core customer
base continues to defer purchases
of new communications equipment,"
said John Tysall, director of
Standard & Poor`s Canadian
corporate ratings group.
Nortel stated on Aug. 27, 2002, that its expected revenues for the September 2002
quarter would be roughly up to 10% below the US$2.8 billion level for the quarter
ended June 30.
Revenues for the past few quarters have been below the company`s expectations,
challenging Nortel`s ability to achieve a cost structure that would permit a return to
profitability by the middle of 2003. Communications carriers continue to defer capital
expenditures and reconfigure their networks to use their substantial existing equipment
inventories, in light of slack demand and the challenged financial positions of some
network operators.
Due to the continued decline in its revenues, Nortel announced an additional
restructuring on Aug. 27 designed to reach a quarterly break-even cost structure of
below US$2.6 billion. Earlier cost-reduction actions had been targeted to permit
breakeven on quarterly revenues below US$3.2 billion.
Standard & Poor`s believes the industry decline in telecommunications spending will
continue through 2003. In this context, should Nortel`s revenues and earnings continue
to decline significantly from expected levels, ratings could be lowered.
A complete list of the ratings is available to RatingsDirect subscribers at
www.ratingsdirect.com, as well as on Standard & Poor`s public Web site at

"Nortel senkt Prognosen, plant Reverse-Split

TORONTO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 7, 2002-- Nortel Networks Corporation (NYSE:NT -

pay Nortel Networks a US$10 million cash reimbursement for certain restructuring
expenses incurred in connection with this transaction.

employees will have the opportunity to continue their employment with Bookham
Technology after redundancies are addressed and existing customer contracts will be
assumed by Bookham Technology. The transaction is expected to close in the fourth
quarter of 2002. As a condition of the sale in Europe, all necessary employee
consultation requirements must also be satisfied. The completion of the transaction is
also subject to customary regulatory approvals and a vote by the shareholders of
Bookham Technology.

business located in Paignton, U.K., Ottawa, Canada, and Harlow, U.K., and the pump
laser and amplifiers business located in Paignton, U.K., Zurich, Switzerland, and

employees will have the opportunity to continue their employment with Bookham
Technology after redundancies are addressed and existing customer contracts will be
assumed by Bookham Technology. The transaction is expected to close in the fourth

consultation requirements must also be satisfied. The completion of the transaction is
also subject to customary regulatory approvals and a vote by the shareholders of
Bookham Technology.

2. Frank Dunn gibt sich kämpferisch.

Großinvestoren & Fonds müssen in solchen Situationen immer
in BEIDE Werte investieren, was der momentane PAARLAUF verdeutlicht.

Cox Communications Awards Nortel Networks
US$65 Million Supply Agreement
Tuesday November 12, 9:02 am ET
Multiservice Broadband Company Plans to Expand Customer
Base, Deliver New Services
TORONTO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 12, 2002--Cox Communications, Inc. (NYSE:COX
- News), one of the largest multiservice broadband communications companies in North
America, has awarded Nortel Networks (NYSE:NT - News; TSX:NT - News) a three-year
supply agreement estimated at approximately US$65 million.
Under this new agreement, Cox will
continue to deploy products from
Nortel Networks comprehensive
portfolio to expand its subscriber
base, and continue to offer
`best-in-class` telecommunications
services.
"We have had tremendous success
with our telephone and optical
transport services and we will further
expand our network to
accommodate growth," said Albert
Young, vice president, Telephony
and Transport Engineering, Cox
Communications. "We are
committed to leveraging our existing
infrastructure, and to
complementing it with best-in-class technology to offer our residential and business
customers a very affordable, convenient bundle of high-quality communications
services. We chose Nortel Networks because of our previous history of success with
them."
As part of the supply agreement, Cox plans to deploy Nortel Networks Optical Ethernet
and next generation SONET equipment -- including Nortel Networks OPTera Metro
3100, 3400 and 3500 Multiservice Platforms -- to increase network capacity and
enhance its ability to offer best-in-class telecommunications services.
Cox also expects to deploy products from Nortel Networks proven DMS telephony
switching portfolio to enable cost-effective accommodation of additional residential and
commercial telephone subscribers. Cox will be able to leverage investments in DMS in
future deployments of voice over IP (Internet Protocol) technologies and architectures.
According to a recent independently conducted survey commissioned by Cox, 90
percent of Cox Digital Telephone subscribers reported overall satisfaction with their
phone service, rating it at 7 or higher on a 10-point scale. Cox has more than 650,000
residential telephony customers to date, served exclusively by Nortel Networks DMS
portfolio.
"Nortel Networks has a proven history of delivering high performance, reliable network
solutions to cable operators like Cox," said Greg Mumford, chief technology officer,
Nortel Networks. "Nortel Networks has teamed with Cox over many years, and we are
very pleased to be selected to work with them in this next stage of their network
transformation and business plan."
In October, Nortel Networks announced that Cox would deploy its Optical Ethernet
equipment -- including Resilient Packet Ring (RPR) technology -- in San Diego, Calif. to
offer new metro services like virtual local area networks.
Nortel Networks provides a comprehensive, integrated cable solution spanning Optical
Ethernet, long haul and metro optical, telephony, IP and voice over IP. Nortel Networks
is committed to delivering a portfolio based on industry standards -- like PacketCable --
to reduce interoperability costs and speed deployment. Today, Nortel Networks
equipment is providing service to more than four million cable telephony lines globally.
Nortel Networks is an industry leader and innovator focused on transforming how the
world communicates and exchanges information. The company is supplying its service
provider and enterprise customers with communications technology and infrastructure
to enable value-added IP data, voice and multimedia services spanning Wireless

Also korrigierte Reihenfolge: 1 Ericsson 2. Nortel 3 Lucent.
