Hallo Leute.
Bin neu im thread und hab ein paar Fragen.
Bin in Timeless (zu 0,96), Magna Pacific (zu 0,62) und in Portman Mining (zu 0,61) investiert. War schon in PCCW und Cheung Wah investiert.
Nun meine Fragen:
1.) Lohnt es sich nach dem starken Anstieg von Cheung Wah und PCCW in diese Werte zu investieren? Ich würde ein Investment von max. 12 Monaten vorsehen. (Kann natürlich auch mehr oder weniger sein)
2.) Sind die von mir gekauften anderen 3 Werte auf die gleiche Dauer gesehen sinnvoll? Sollte man eventuell noch Positionen bei diesen Werten aufbauen?

Hallo lechminasch (komischer Name?)
bei PCCW würde ich zumindest abwarten, bis die Fakten über die Verhandlungen mit cable & wireless HKT auf dem Tisch sind. Falls PCCW alleine diesen Brocken schlucken muß, geht der Kurs vermutlich erst ein bischen runter, da es ne sehr große Investition ist.
Also falls die Beteiligung/Übernahme erfolgreich abgeschlossen wird -> genau den Kurs beobachten und im richtigen Moment rein.
Wenn man jetzt sofort investiert, kanns passieren, das es zunächst runtergeht, bevor der endgültige Anstieg losgeht (muss ja nicht sein oder?)

ich denke PCCW hat jetzt endilch einen Partner zum Vernaschen von Cable & Wireless gefunden:

CyberWorks Ltd. und CITIC Pacific im Gespräch zu Übernahme von Cable & Wireless HKT.
18.02.00 CyberWorks Ltd. (NasdaqNM:PCCLF); CITIC Pacific Ltd. (HKG:0267.HK). Nach Information der Tageszeitung "Hong Kong Economic Times" stehen Pacific CyberWorks Ltd. und CITIC Pacific Ltd. in Gesprächen über eine Zusammenarbeit bei der Übernahme von Cable & Wireless HKT. Den Teitungsberichten vom Freitag zu Folge, könnte CITIC Pacific nach vorläufigen Plänen 10% an Cable & Wireless HKT erwerben. Wie die Zeitung weiter veröffentlicht, hätten sich Vetreter von Cyberworks und CITIC Pacific am Freitag mit Offiziellen der HSBC Holdings Plc und der Bank of China getroffen. Für Cyberworks wäre die Zusammenarbeit sehr interessant, da das chinesische Glasfasernetz von CITIC Pacific als Grundlage für den Aufbau eines Hochgeschwindigkeits-Internets in China bilden könnte.

Das bedeutet für dich, daß der Kurs wahrscheinlich bei Übernahme nicht mehr sinken wird (da wegen des Partners finanziell machbar) und du jetzt bald einsteigen solltest.

Beware of the Hype
Some people have been burned by the crazy pace of Asia`s
technology boom

Here is a cautionary tale as Asia`s fascination
with technology stocks shows no signs of
abating. About two years ago, Indian company
SRG Finman changed its name to SRG Infotech
and acquired a local software developer. Soon, its
stock price was surging along with more
established technology shares. The company
kept the momentum going with well-timed
announcements. At one point, company officials
said they were in advanced negotiations to buy an
unnamed U.S. software firm for $5 million and
were planning to set up subsidiaries in Britain,
America and Singapore.

Then last August, tax investigators raided the
company`s offices on suspicions that it was
engaging in insider trading and manipulation of its
accounts. The Delhi Stock Exchange (DSE)
suspended the stock twice and threatened new sanctions in October over
SRG`s failure to come through with its acquisition and expansion plans. "The
news items were probably aimed at moving up the share price," DSE executive
director S.S. Sodhi told local newspaper Business Standard. For its part, the
Bombay Stock Exchange said it had received up to 50 complaints against SRG
for non-transfer of shares. The tax investigators call it a "bogus" tech company.
Stock market regulators are continuing a probe of the firm.

Timeless Software, the first Internet-related company to list on Hong Kong`s
fledgling Growth Enterprise Market in November, is another controversial tech
stock. Within weeks of its initial public offering, the firm paid $23 million - about
40% of the proceeds from the IPO - for the 79th-floor penthouse of the deluxe
The Center tower in Hong Kong. Never mind that Timeless has more than
enough office space for its current needs or that the price tag was substantially
higher than valuations of nearby offices. Timeless co-founder Danny Cheng
argued that the purchase would "strengthen the company`s business
relationship" with The Center developer Cheung Kong, the flagship of billionaire
Li Ka-shing. Sniffs an analyst: "If everyone who bought property from Cheung
Kong was strengthening his business relationship with Li, the old man would
have incredible guangxi [connections] with almost all of Hong Kong`s 7 million
residents."

Ready for more? Until last year, Xpress Print was a
printer of stock brokerage reports. Then it
discovered the dotcom world, changed its name to
I-one.net and built hundreds of kiosks along
Singapore`s streets and inside shopping malls. The
booths` computer monitors were supposed to
facilitate e-commerce. I-one.net`s stock soared
when it listed on the local bourse in June. But
investors have been deserting the company as its
e-commerce promises remain unfulfilled - the
kiosks feature only basic shopping and other
information. At least it is making a bit of money
from advertising hoardings pasted on the booths. In
Malaysia, bankrupt Time Engineering renamed its
private telecom subsidiary Time dotCom. Time
Engineering`s share price doubled within days,
even though it has yet to dig itself out of its
staggering $1.3-billion debt.

Sometimes, the investor has no one to blame but
himself. Last year, Hong Kong garments maker
High Fashion was rumored as a backdoor listing
target of investors looking to turn a shell company
into an Internet incubator. Punters chased the
stock as visions of another Pacific Century
Cyberworks danced in their heads. (In April last
year, Richard Li took over computer supplier
Tricom Holdings and renamed it Pacific Century
Cyberworks. The stock closed at HK$22.05 on
Feb. 9, up more than 20,000% since the buyout.)
The eager buyers lost their shirts when High
Fashion remained a garments maker. Says David
Kim, a Hong Kong executive with Japanese Net
incubator Softbank: "Hong Kong has the greediest
investors, and they will never learn. People really
got hurt when the property bubble burst. They got
hurt with red chips. They`re not going to learn with
the Internet."

Other analysts are more optimistic. Asia`s tech
boom is already in its second phase, says Lim
Kok Boon, who runs CMG First State Investment`s
Asia Innovation and Technology Fund in Singapore.
True, investors are still chasing new dot.com
companies. "But the market is becoming fairly
efficient," he says. "It doesn`t matter how much
hype there is surrounding a stock. It doesn`t take serious investors too long to
figure out whether you can deliver." Adds Greg Feldberg, an analyst at Indosuez
W.I.Carr Securities in Hong Kong: "There are a lot of people out there who are
talking up their business plans. But that doesn`t mean they are all pretenders."
Still, he concedes: "Quite a few entrepreneurs are focused primarily on
short-term capital gains." You have been warned.
