Auch der Speicherkartenhersteller SanDisk hat heute überaus erfreuliche Zahlen vermelden können. Das Unternehmen hat im vierten Quartal einen Gewinn von 94 Cents erwirtschaftet. Im Vorjahreszeitraum lag dieser bei lediglich 26 Cents; erwartet worden waren laut Thomson First Call 78 Cents. Die Umsätze konnten mit 389 Millionen Dollar mehr als verdoppelt werden. Das Unternehmen gab außerdem einen geplanten Aktiensplit im Verhältnis 2:1 bekannt.

Die Aktie von SanDisk wurde dennoch ein beispielhaftes Opfer für die aktuelle Gewinnmitnahme-Welle. Die Titel hatten bereits im regulären Handel 3,95 Prozent auf 69,59 Dollar abgegeben. Sie verloren nachbörslich bislang weitere 8,02 Prozent auf 64,01 Dollar.

SEATTLE, Jan 21 (Reuters) - Computer security and services provider Symantec Corp. (NasdaqNM:SYMC - News) said on Wednesday that its quarterly profit jumped by a half while revenue rose by a third as businesses stepped up spending on security software and services.
The Cupertino, California-based company reported a net profit of $111 million, or 32 cents per share, for its fiscal third quarter ended Jan. 2, compared with a net profit of $72 million, or 22 cents per share, a year earlier. Revenue rose to $494 million from $376 million.

To the best of my knowledge, Tractor Supply (Nasdaq: TSCO) has never really been closely examined on Foolish pages -- though it has been the subject of brief comments from Whitney Tilson and, more recently, the president and CEO of WD-40 (Nasdaq: WDFC). That had to change today, however, as the company`s shares rose swiftly on heavy volume this morning, following the release of strong Q4 and full-year earnings.

Tractor Supply operates 463 "farm and ranch stores" targeting the lifestyle, maintenance, and business needs of rural residents and businessmen. A 9.6% Q4 same-store sales increase drove full-year sales ahead nearly 22%, to $1.47 billion. Decreased selling, general, and administrative expenses as a percent of sales, meanwhile, helped improve year-over-year operating margins. Net income for the year was up 50% to $56.5 million, including a $1.9 million accounting charge.

It`s been a remarkable 12 months for Tractor Supply. Shares have skyrocketed over that period and handily beaten the S&P 500, as the company has turned in strong operating results and kept a crowded dance card of investing conferences.

Tractor Supply`s outlook is promising, though tempered. It`s pointing investors toward year-ahead revenue growth of between 13% and 15% and net income growth of about 20%. That`s slower than 2003, certainly, but nevertheless respectable should the company begin producing steady cash flow.

There`s reason for caution, with the company looking for growth to slow even as it continues expanding, but especially with it looking fairly valued at about 24 times projected earnings. However, if it continues to improve sales, generate operating leverage, and expand successfully (its improving same-store sales are encouraging here), there can still be room for it to run.

Secure Computing Reports Fourth Quarter 2003 Operating Results

Company Reports Record Revenue of $22.9 Million and Fully Diluted Earnings per Share from Continuing Operations of $0.12 ¶ Secure Computing Corporation (NASDAQ:SCUR), the experts in securing connections between people, applications, and networks, today announced fourth quarter revenues of $22.9 million, a record for the company. This represents a 17% increase compared to revenues of $19.5 million in the prior quarter and a 33% increase compared to $17.2 million in the same quarter last year. MEDICAL CHINA ist die einzige börsennotierte Gesellschaft Asiens, die schwerpunktmässig in der Behandlung von Krebs tätig ist! Die Gesellschaft produziert Geräte, die zur Strahlentherapie bei verschiedenen Krebsarten eingesetzt werden. Diese Geräte werden an Kliniken und spezielle Behandlungszentren verkauft. Darüberhinaus ist MEDICAL CHINA über die beiden Tochtergesellschaften CHINA BEST DRUGS RESEARCH (NANJING) LTD. und SINO-INNOVA MEDICAL SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY CO. in der Produktion von Pharmazeutika und medizinischen Labor- und Medikamenttest-Artikeln tätig. Über die Beteiligung an der TAT LUNG MEDICAL TREATMENT TECHNOLOGY ist man auch direkt im Pharmavertrieb u.a. bei einem Anti-Raucher-Medikament aktiv. Hauptgeschäftstätigkeit ist aber die Krebsbehandlung mit der RFAS- (radio frequency applications supply) Technologie. Das Geschäftsmodell war seit Gründung des Unternehmens ein riesiger Erfolg. Dann aber kam in der ersten Hälfte des Jahres 2003 SARS und die Leute trauten sich aus Angst vor Ansteckungen nicht mehr in die Krankenhäuser. Als Folge hierfür brach das Geschäft von MEDICAL CHINA in den ersten sechs Monaten des Vorjahres deutlich ein, was sich auch im Aktienkurs widerspiegelte. Aber: Die aktuellen Ausverkaufspreise sind eine einmalige Einstiegsmöglichkeit! Am langfristigen Erfolgsmodell hat sich nämlich nicht das Geringste geändert.



Analysieren wir hierzu die Zahlen „vor“ und „nach“ SARS! In den drei Jahren 2000 bis 31.12.2002 konnte MEDICAL CHINA den Umsatz von HKD 11.02 Mio. auf HKD 49.85 Mio. um 352% steigern. Der Nettogewinn stieg in diesen drei Jahren von HKD 4.83 auf HKD 22.98, was ein Plus von 375% bedeutete. Der Buchwert der Gesellschaft explodierte gar von HKD 4.85 Mio. auf HKD 134.55 Mio. und somit um sage und schreibe 2’680%. Dann aber verhinderte SARS eine Fortsetzung der Erfolgsstory: In den ersten neun Monaten des Jahres 2003 sank der Umsatz von HKD 36.48 Mio. auf HKD 20.1 Mio., der Nettogewinn ging von HKD 18.9 Mio. auf HKD 3.74 Mio. zurück. Der Aktienkurs fiel um 90%. Aber: Jetzt ist der richtige Zeitpunkt, um bei MEDICAL CHINA einzusteigen! SARS war für das Geschäftsmodell und die Gesellschaft die Härteprüfung. Trotz Ausbruch der Seuche blieb das Unternehmen in jedem Quartal profitabel. Und die Wende hat sich mit dem 3. Quartal per 30.9.2003 bereits abgezeichnet. Im Vergleich zu den beiden Vorquartalen stieg nämlich der Umsatz wieder um 26.8% resp. 46.9%, der Gewinn explodierte gar um 71.9% resp. 358.1%! Und Sie können sicher sein: Das 4. Quartal wird wieder eine deutliche Steigerung bringen. Das deutete das Management schon beim letzten Geschäftsbericht mit einem extrem positiven Ausblick an. Damit bekommen Sie eine der spannendsten Medizinstories Asiens derzeit für ein Apfel und ein Ei! Denn:

Wo sonst auf der Welt können Sie sich an einem wachstumsstarken und profitablen Wert, der in der Krebsbehandlung tätig ist, zu einem KGV von 4 beteiligen? Sie haben richtig gelesen: Wir erwarten für das laufende Jahr einen Gewinn von HKD 25 Mio, mithin ein Plus, das leicht über dem Ergebnis des Jahres 2002 liegt. Für das folgende Jahr sollte aber konservativ geschätzt ein Gewinn von HKD 35 Mio. drin sein. Bei einer aktuellen Marktbewertung von HKD 146 Mio. bedeutet dies ein KGV von 4.1! Wir kennen weltweit keine einzige Gesellschaft, die in der Krebsforschung oder -behandlung tätig ist, die eine solche Kennzahl aufweist. MEDICAL CHINA notiert aktuell bei HKc 17.5, im Frühjahr 2002 zahlte man für diesen spannenden Wert noch HKD 1.21. Wir schliessen nicht aus, dass solche Kurse wieder erreicht werden, wenn die Gesellschaft auch das Ertragsniveau von 2002 wieder erreicht, was bereits im laufenden Jahr der Fall sein könnte. Ein Potential von 600% in Aussicht zu stellen, scheint uns zum jetzigen Zeitpunkt etwas zu spektakulär zu sein. Wir würden uns aber nicht wundern, wenn MEDICAL CHINA zum Jahresende im Bereich von HKc 50 bis HKc 60 notiert, was eine Verdrei- bis Vervierfachung bedeuten würde. Selbst dann wäre die Aktie mit einem KGV von 16 für einen wachstumsstarken Healthcare-Play nicht zu teuer: Auch diesen Wert nehmen wir in unser Musterdepot auf! Medical China lebt im wesentlichen davon, RFAS-Systeme in Krankenhäusern zu installieren. Ich bin kein Mediziner und weiß daher nicht was das genau ist, aber es ist auf jeden Fall so teuer, dass es sich die Krankenhäuser in China eigentlich nicht leisten können. Also finanziert Medical China die Geräte und kassiert dafür bei den Behandlungen (immerhin bis zu 70% der Behandlungskosten gehen an Medical China). Die Verträge mit den Krankenhäusen laufen über 4 - 15 (meist aber 6) Jahre.

So weit so gut. Aber :

Die Hauptkomponenten muss Medical China selber zukaufen von Boston Scientific bzw. Radio Theraputics, die auch zu Boston Scientific gehören. Die beiden haben aber inzwischen erkannt, dass es ein höchstprofitables Geschäftsmodell ist, wass Medical China da betreibt und haben daraufhin ihren Vertrieb umgestellt. Medical China wird nicht mehr mit neuen Geräten beliefert, die Krankenhäuser können jetzt direkt bei Boston Scientific ordern.

Damit wird Medical China die Grundlage weiteren Wachtums entzogen. Nennenwerte andere Umsätze gibt es nicht und die bestehenden Verträge werden nach und nach auslaufen. Medical China wird eigenen Angaben zufolge versuchen, offiziell die Krankenhäuser selber als Käufer der Geräte auftreten zu lassen, was meiner Meinung nach ein völlig unrealistisches Unterfangen ist.

Ich verstehe nicht, warum in den euphorischen Darstellungen von EMI diese Sachverhalte mit keinem Wort erwähnt werden.

Seit wir Ihnen vor kurzem Spectrum Sciences vorgestellt haben, konnte die Aktie bereits eine glänzende Performance aufs Parkett legen. Spectrum Sciences Approved for Frankfurt Stock Exchange Listing
Am Dienstag gab das Unternehmen einen weiteren Auftrag des US Verteidigungsministeriums bekannt. Demnach wird Spectrum Sciences spezielle mobile Geräte für Kampfsituationen entwickeln. Diese können von Soldaten in Kriegseinsätzen benutzt werden können.

Dwight D. Howard, der Vizepräsident der Produktion sagte: “Wir sind sehr stolz darauf, dass wir ausgewählt wurden um unseren Truppen diese überlebenswichtigen Geräte zur Verfügung zu stellen. Zwischenbilanz nach dem 3. Quartal zum 31. Dezember 2003

Unterhaching, 24. Februar 2004 – Zum Ende des dritten Quartals 2003/2004 meldet die Elephant Seven AG einen konsolidierten Umsatz in Höhe von 9,59 Mio. EUR.

Strukturoptimierungen und Maßnahmen zur Effizienzsteigerung innerhalb der Elephant Seven AG führten im dritten Quartal des laufenden Geschäftsjahres zu ersten erkennbaren Verbesserungen. So beläuft sich der operative Verlust (EBITDA) des Unternehmens im dritten Quartal des Geschäftsjahres 2003/2004 auf 143 TEUR. Dies entspricht einer Verlustreduzierung um 376 TEUR gegenüber dem vorangegangen Quartal.

Die Elephant Seven AG erzielte in den ersten neun Monaten des laufenden Geschäftsjahres 2003/2004 ein Ergebnis vor Abschreibungen, Zinsen und Steuern (EBITDA) von minus 1,09 Mio. EUR. Der 9-Monatsfehlbetrag beträgt minus 2,14 Mio. EUR. Die Konzernliquidität beläuft sich mit Stichtag zum 31. Dezember 2003 auf 2,42 Mio. EUR.
