      http://www.commerceone.com/news/us/dt.htm

      http://www.commerceone.com/news/us/swisscom_agreement.htm

Zurich, Switzerland and Walnut Creek, California – January 18, 2000 – Swisscom AG (NYSE: SCM), the leading telecommunications provider in Switzerland, and Commerce One, Inc. (NASDAQ: CMRC), the leading provider of global business-to-business e-commerce solutions, today announced an agreement to establish a business-to-business electronic marketplace.

Under the agreement, Swisscom will launch an electronic marketplace based upon the Commerce One MarketSite solution. The Swisscom Electronic Marketplace will link buyers and sellers throughout Switzerland and central Europe, accelerating trade and reducing costs for all trading partners.

For Swisscom this venture is another important milestone on its way to delivering further benefits to its customers via new e-commerce applications. Swisscom’s own purchasing department will be the first customer on the Electronic Marketplace. “We acknowledge the substantial return on investment and significant cost reductions that e-procurement can offer to Swisscom, as well as our customers and suppliers,” said Jens Alder, CEO of Swisscom. “The Commerce One MarketSite solution and participation in the Global Trading Web will allow us to build an open marketplace and offer the full advantages of electronic trading on a global scale.”

The Swisscom Electronic Marketplace will enable both buyers and suppliers to carry out fast and secure transactions over the Internet. Suppliers’ catalogues will be managed by Swisscom’s Electronic Marketplace. Direct access is possible through an electronic purchasing application, such as Commerce One BuySite, from buyers’ intranets. Swisscom’s decision to work with Commerce One is based on the openness and richness of Commerce One’s solution and on the leading market position of the company.

In a first step, Swisscom will offer online procurement solutions designed for the needs of large companies. In a further step, the new online marketplace will be extended towards vertical markets or communities, including small and medium enterprise (SME) communities. Together with other Swiss partner companies, Swisscom is planning to introduce additional value-added services such as logistics. In addition, the Swisscom Electronic Marketplace will be enhanced with extra features like B2B auctions.

“By combining Swisscom’s industry leadership with Commerce One’s expertise and experience in establishing real-time trading communities, we will jointly deliver a comprehensive B2B regional portal,” said Mark Hoffman, president and CEO of Commerce One. “Through this new relationship we will have the ability to increase electronic B2B trading in Europe and on a global scale, as the Global Trading Web continues to expand.”

The Swisscom Electronic Marketplace Joins Global Trading Web
The Swisscom Electronic Marketplace will give buyers and suppliers access to other trading partners around the world by means of the Commerce One Global Trading Web. At present, the Global Trading Web consists of the Commerce One MarketSite in North America, as well as of current regional MarketSite operating partners which include British Telecommunications (BT) in the United Kingdom, NTT Communications in Japan, SESAMi.com in Southeast Asia, Cable & Wireless Optus in Australia, TD Bank in Canada and a new joint-venture company being formed by Commerce One and Grupo Financiero Banamex-Accival (“Banacci”), Mexico’s main financial group. In addition, two major industry market makers have joined the Global Trading Web: General Motors and Commerce One have established GM TradeXchange, a MarketSite portal for the automotive industry; and Shell and Commerce One are creating a joint venture to develop a MarketSite portal for the energy industry. Swisscom will take a seat on the Global Trading Web Advisory Council.
