Revenue Growth
Revenues were US$23.0 million, up 11.1% compared with the same quarter last year. Compared with the first quarter, the increase was 7.4%. The key revenue growth drivers were broadband access and global roaming. Broadband access revenue grew to US$5.6 million, an almost three-fold increase over the same quarter last year. With the gradual migration of dial-up and leased line customers to broadband, access revenue from these segments continued to decline.
Growth in Net Income
Net income was US$0.7 million or US$0.05 per share. Compared with the same quarter last year, the improvement was US$3.9 million. Against the first quarter, there was a close to three-fold increase from US$0.2 million. The improvement in net income was due to strong revenue growth, effective management of total operating costs and expenses, and better operating performance by our unconsolidated affiliates in Thailand and India.
Growth in Cash
As of June 30, 2002, Pacific Internet held cash and cash equivalents of US$15.2 million, up from last quarter`s US$14.4 million.
Cash generated from operations grew to US$2.7 million this quarter from US$1.7 million in the last quarter, an increase of 64.3%. Year-to-date, total cash generated from operations was US$4.4 million. From this, US$2.8 million was utilized for capital expenditure and repayment of borrowings, leaving a net cash surplus of US$1.6 million.

compared with 9.4% same quarter last year. Broadband subscriber
number increased by almost three times from second quarter 2001.
* Broadband coverage across our markets has increased. Besides
Singapore, Hong Kong and Australia, which have already been actively
pursuing the broadband market, the Philippines and Thailand
operations are also increasing their acquisition efforts in the
corporate broadband market.
2. Grow the corporate market
* Revenue from corporate business this quarter was 57% of total
revenues.
* Revenue from corporate business this quarter grew 13% over the same
quarter last year, contributing 64% to the increase in total revenues
this quarter.
3. Expand the regional businesses
* Pacific Internet entered the Malaysia market this quarter, bringing
the total number of countries in Asia to seven. This operation will
first serve the needs of the Group`s existing multinational
customers, followed by domestic corporate customers.
* Pacific Internet is currently exploring possible partnerships in
Southern China. Its strategy is to leverage its Hong Kong subsidiary
for the initial phase of its entry into China.
4. Introduce innovative services and solutions
* BizVoice was launched in Hong Kong, a solution that enabled companies
based in Hong Kong to transmit enhanced voice, data and faxes via
their existing data networks. The solution allows unlimited
communications between their regional offices located in Hong Kong
and China at a fixed flat rate.
* Broadband over powerline was showcased at the CommunicAsia 2002 in
Singapore, giving visitors first-hand experience of this innovative
technology. As part of the showcase highlights, Pacific Internet
demonstrated a video conferencing solution running on Powerline
access technology.
* A new web acceleration service, Speed Booster, which can increase
Internet users` existing web surfing speed by up to four times was
launched in Singapore. This service will accelerate the delivery of
Web content and applications by optimizing and compressing data for
faster delivery.
5. Leverage international partnerships
* Pacific Internet partnered with Symantec to offer antivirus
protection to corporate customers in Singapore. This partnership has
strengthened our value-added service offerings available to corporate
customers in Singapore.
* A partnership with NEC in Australia has resulted in an industry
first - 99.9% service uptime guarantee with the launch of premium DSL
for businesses. This partnership taps on NEC`s robust NEXTEP
broadband network to provide an attractive proposition for businesses
seeking affordable yet business grade broadband service in Australia.
Tan Tong Hai, President and CEO of Pacific Internet, said, "We have been executing these strategies and it has paid off in revenues and profits growth in the broadband, corporate segment and regional business. With our latest entry into Malaysia, we have increased and strengthened our Asia-Pacific coverage, extending our services to multi-national corporations across the region. This new market has presented us a significant business potential to accelerate our growth in the corporate segment as well as our regional business."
Other Second Quarter Highlights
In this quarter, Pacific Internet won two awards, "Best Asian Internet Service Provider 2002" from Telecom Asia and "Business Management Asia Innovation Award 2002". Pacific Internet was voted "Best Asian ISP" in the 2002 Telecom Asia Readers` Choice Awards for the fourth consecutive year. For the first time, Pacific Internet was also recognized by readers of Business Management Asia Magazine (BMA) as Asia`s Most Innovative Company in the Internet Service Provider category.
Business Outlook
The following forward-looking statements reflect Pacific Internet`s current expectations. Given the uncertainty and potential changes in economic, business, competitive, technological and regulatory factors, and the various other risk factors discussed in our 20F filing and in the Management`s Discussion & Analysis in our 6K filing, actual results may differ materially. Please see further comments under "Caution Concerning Forward-looking Statements".

Growth Strategies
Pacific Internet has been executing the following growth strategies and the specific milestones achieved for each of these strategies are:
1. Focus on broadband * Broadband registered the highest growth rate among all products. This quarter, broadband revenue contributed 24.5% to total revenues, compared with 9.4% same quarter last year. Broadband subscriber number increased by almost three times from second quarter 2001. * Broadband coverage across our markets has increased. Besides Singapore, Hong Kong and Australia, which have already been actively pursuing the broadband market, the Philippines and Thailand operations are also increasing their acquisition efforts in the corporate broadband market. 2. Grow the corporate market * Revenue from corporate business this quarter was 57% of total revenues. * Revenue from corporate business this quarter grew 13% over the same quarter last year, contributing 64% to the increase in total revenues this quarter. 3. Expand the regional businesses * Pacific Internet entered the Malaysia market this quarter, bringing the total number of countries in Asia to seven. This operation will first serve the needs of the Group``s existing multinational customers, followed by domestic corporate customers. * Pacific Internet is currently exploring possible partnerships in Southern China. Its strategy is to leverage its Hong Kong subsidiary for the initial phase of its entry into China. 4. Introduce innovative services and solutions * BizVoice was launched in Hong Kong, a solution that enabled companies based in Hong Kong to transmit enhanced voice, data and faxes via their existing data networks. The solution allows unlimited communications between their regional offices located in Hong Kong and China at a fixed flat rate. * Broadband over powerline was showcased at the CommunicAsia 2002 in Singapore, giving visitors first-hand experience of this innovative technology. As part of the showcase highlights, Pacific Internet demonstrated a video conferencing solution running on Powerline access technology. * A new web acceleration service, Speed Booster, which can increase Internet users`` existing web surfing speed by up to four times was launched in Singapore. This service will accelerate the delivery of Web content and applications by optimizing and compressing data for faster delivery. 5. Leverage international partnerships * Pacific Internet partnered with Symantec to offer antivirus protection to corporate customers in Singapore. This partnership has strengthened our value-added service offerings available to corporate customers in Singapore. * A partnership with NEC in Australia has resulted in an industry first - 99.9% service uptime guarantee with the launch of premium DSL for businesses. This partnership taps on NEC``s robust NEXTEP broadband network to provide an attractive proposition for businesses seeking affordable yet business grade broadband service in Australia.
Pacific Internet was voted "Best Asian ISP" in the 2002 Telecom Asia Readers`` Choice Awards for the fourth consecutive year. For the first time, Pacific Internet was also recognized by readers of Business Management Asia Magazine (BMA) as Asia``s Most Innovative Company in the Internet Service Provider category.
Business Outlook
The following forward-looking statements reflect Pacific Internet``s current expectations. Given the uncertainty and potential changes in economic, business, competitive, technological and regulatory factors, and the various other risk factors discussed in our 20F filing and in the Management``s Discussion & Analysis in our 6K filing, actual results may differ materially. Please see further comments under "Caution Concerning Forward-looking Statements".

Im vierten Quartal will Web.de-Chef Matthias Greve den Break-Even schaffen.

Pacific Internet Subsidiary Deploys Regional Virtual Private Network (VPN) For EDAW
Secured And Integrated Network Provides Enhanced Communications Between EDAW Regional Offices; Enables Network Access For Mobile Workers
Tuesday September 10, 2:20 am ET
SINGAPORE--(INTERNET WIRE)--Sep 9, 2002 -- Pacific Internet (NasdaqNM:PCNTF - News), a leading Internet Service Provider in Asia, today announced that its wholly owned subsidiary Pacific Internet (Australia), has sealed a new deal with urban design and landscaping consultancy firm EDAW, to provide a broadband Virtual Private Network (VPN). Initially connecting EDAW`s Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane offices, the VPN will be extended to connect EDAW`s Hong Kong operations within eight months.
For EDAW staff located in Australia and Hong Kong, the Pacific Internet VPN will provide secure high-speed access to email and the Internet as well as shared corporate files and applications. By creating a single integrated network, EDAW aims to improve communications between offices, as well as provide network access for employees traveling to overseas offices, or working remotely via the Internet.
With broadband performance across the network, EDAW also plans to use the VPN as the platform for video conferencing and Voice over IP (VoIP) services. The entire VPN will be managed by Pacific Internet, ensuring a single point of contact for administration, technical control and support throughout Asia.
For Simon Foxe, IT Manager at EDAW, deploying the VPN is a cost effective means to overcoming geographic barriers and deliver true pan-Asian IT services.
"Connecting via the Pacific Internet VPN enables multiple EDAW offices to operate as a single integrated entity. Whether staff are in Hong Kong or Melbourne, they have access to the same resources and virtual teams can share information instantly with other offices around the network."
Dennis Muscat, managing director of Pacific Internet Australia believes the EDAW deal is an endorsement of Pacific Internet`s Asia-Pacific regional capability.
"Pacific Internet is the largest ISP in the Asia-Pacific by geographical reach," said Muscat. "With the Asian Internet-based VPN market expected to grow by 50 per cent in the next 18 months, Pacific Internet`s ability to deliver consistent, business-quality broadband services across multiple countries, is a significant advantage over local carriers. As more companies turn to the VPN model for pan-Asia connectivity, we expect to win a significant share of new business."
Pacific Internet offers Internet services in seven countries across the Asia-Pacific, including Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, the Philippines, India, Thailand and Malaysia. As part of its growth strategy to expand its regional business, Pacific Internet is also exploring possibilities to extend its footprint to Indonesia and Southern China.

Pacific Internet: No price war
ISP will seek other ways to widen base
Charoen Kittikanya
Pacific Internet (Thailand), the service provider of Nasdaq-listed Pacific Internet based in Singapore, says it will keep out of price wars and prefers other marketing approaches to stay competitive in Thailand.
As part of an international brand, Pacific Internet was not in a position to get deeper into the price war that is expected to intensify in Thailand, said Prithayuth Nivasabutr, managing director of Pacific Internet (Thailand).
Therefore, the focus would shift to other value-added services, high-speed access, an aggressive promotion campaign and continuous customer retention programmes, he said.
For example, Pacific Internet has designed a promotion copying the government lottery. Customers who apply for any monthly subscription package, or purchase a particular package, will receive a coupon offering a chance to win prizes.
In the so-called Easy Money campaign, each coupon contains five digits selected at random. If the number on the coupon matches the last five digits of the first prize in the government lottery held twice a month, the holder will receive a 200,000-baht prize.
If there is no winner in any particular draw, the prize money will be carried forward to the next draw. The campaign will run from tomorrow to Aug 16.
In another step to stand out in a crowded ISP marketplace, Pacific Internet has tailor-made its access services, modelled on those of the airlines-World Class for broadband, Pacific Class for monthly subscriptions and Deluxe Class for instant Internet kits.
"Each of the classes will be supported by their own network services such as international and domestic bandwidth access, a modem pool as well as their own unique value-added and loyalty programme that will be organised throughout the year," Mr Prithayuth said.
"We want to become one of the top five ISPs in the country by the end of this year, not necessarily in terms of subscriptions or sales but in terms of being the preferred ISP of people on the street," he said.
Pacific Internet plans by the end of this year to increase the number of its individual subscribers to 70,000 from the present 20,000 and corporate users to 800 from 250.
To meet the target, Mr Prithayuth said Pacific Internet planned this year to increase capital from 188 million baht, and would seek strategic partnerships with telecom firms.
