OSI Pharmaceutic - 50 - 80% tradingmäßig drin !!! - 500 Beiträge pro Seite

Aus Tradingsicht sollten hier 50% in den nächsten Tagen möglich sein. Ich denke, daß wir hier gestern eine Überreaktion gesehen haben. Zur Info: Astra Zeneca hat gestern die Erwartungen für sein Krebsmedikament etwas heruntergenommen. Daruafhin verlor die Aktie von Astra 16,27%. Diese Meldung hat andere Mitbewerber, wie OSI, auch unter Druck gebracht. Allerdings Astra, die die Probleme haben verlieren 16,27% und OSI, die keine Probleme haben verlieren 57% ??? OSI hat in diesem Bereich eine weitreichende Allianz mit Genentech und Roche. Meine Vermutung ist, daß da gestern auch shortseller ihre Chance wahrgenommen haben könnten. Gestern sind 24 Mio Aktien gehandelt worden (bei 36 Mio Aktien outstanding !!!) und man hat mehr als die Hälfte des Marktwertes verloren - und das obwohl bei OSI nichts ! passiert ist. Also tradingmäßig sollte sich der Wert in den nächsten Tagen bis 21 - 23 $ wieder erholen. Vielleicht gibt es heute nochmal einen Versuch der shortseller die Aktie zu drücken, aber nach dem gestrigen Sellout, sollte das Potential nach unten begrenzt sein. Ich würde versuchen heute bis ca 16 $ zu kaufen. Kauf in USA, da ist genügend Liquidität. Hier in Deutschland kaum Umsatz und die Kurse sind auch nicht gerade die fairsten.

OSI Pharmaceuticals and Genentech Provide Update On Status of Tarceva Program

MELVILLE, N.Y. & SAN FRANCISCO, Aug 19, 2002 (BW HealthWire) -- OSI Pharmaceuticals (OSIP) and Genentech (DNA) announced an update and commentary on the progress of the Companies` clinical trial candidate, Tarceva(TM) (erlotinib HCl). The announcement followed the release of top-line results on a competitor`s drug candidate which belongs to the same class of HER1/EGFR targeted therapies as Tarceva(TM).

"Overall we continue to be pleased with the progress of our comprehensive Tarceva(TM) development program," stated Dr. Colin Goddard, Chairman and CEO of OSI. "Despite today`s events, we also continue to believe that Tarceva(TM) and HER1/EGFR inhibitors in general, represent a potentially important new class of agents for the treatment of human cancer."

Although both drug candidates block the EGFR pathway, there are important differences between the agents and clinical programs including structure, formulation, pharmacokinetics and Phase III design and dosing. These may all play a role in the results of the Phase III trials. The Phase III program for Tarceva(TM) was built on previously disclosed Phase II data for the drug candidate which demonstrated encouraging indications of clinical activity in three separate single agent Phase II trials in refractory or advanced cancer patients with non-small cell lung, ovarian or squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck.

The Tarceva(TM) Phase III program in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is being conducted as a global alliance between OSI, Genentech and Roche and consists of three Phase III randomized studies; one trial assesses Tarceva(TM) as a single agent in a refractory setting and two trials are designed to assess Tarceva(TM) as first-line agent in combination trials with approved chemotherapy regimens. The design of the study in refractory NSCLC is investigating the potential survival benefit of single agent Tarceva(TM) at 150mg/day. This is the only single agent controlled Phase III study of an EGFR targeted agent designed to detect a survival advantage in refractory non-small cell lung cancer.

The alliance`s two front-line studies in non-small cell lung cancer are designed to assess the potential of survival benefit of Tarceva(TM) with standard chemotherapy. These trials contain noteworthy differences in study design versus those of the competitor trial results released today. The dose employed in the alliance`s Phase III program of 150 mg/day is the apparent maximum tolerated dose (MTD) for this agent as determined in earlier Phase I studies. The choice of dose for the Phase III studies is based on the belief that this dosing strategy may be clinically important in the use of this agent. These studies are powered to demonstrate a 25% improvement in survival and are two-armed studies comparing Tarceva(TM)`s MTD with combination chemotherapy versus combination chemotherapy alone.

All three NSCLC Phase III trials are progressing as planned. Accrual was recently completed for the first of the two front-line combination studies for Tarceva(TM) in non-small cell lung cancer (an approximately 1000 patient Genentech sponsored study combining Tarceva(TM) with carboplatin and Taxol(R)). Accrual to the other front-line combination study (an approximately 1000 patient Roche sponsored study combining Tarceva(TM) with gemcitabine and cisplatin) is currently on track. The single agent, refractory study (an approximate 330 patient OSI sponsored study in refractory NSCLC patients) is also progressing as planned.

Ich glaube, daß wir in den nächsten Tagen und Wochen die 20 $ wiedersehen sollten. Die FDA schaut genauso hin wie immer. Die Untersuchungen sind mehr als gründlich. Ich denke nicht, daß eine Meldung von Astra Zeneca die Arbeitsweise der FDA in irgendeiner Art und Weise beeinflußt.

Also wenn allés "normal" läuft, müsste es so sein. Aber Zweckpessimismus find ich gut, aber selbst Bear Stearn stellt sich heute verteidigend vor die Aktie und setzt das Kursziel auf 20 $ und sagt, daß das Mittel von OSI westentlich mehr Potential hat, als das von Astra, was schon in den ersten Testphasen klar zu erkennen war, wo Osi immer bessere Ergebnisse hatte als Astra.

Morgan Stanley said on Tuesday it cut its price target for OSI Pharmaceuticals Inc. (NasdaqNM:OSIP - News) to $20 from $47 on concerns about its cancer drug developments a day after the drug maker`s rival said its trial had failed.

The brokerage said that an AstraZeneca Plc (London:AZN.L - News) trial failure questions the potential of similar drugs.

Morgan Stanley noted a similar drug which OSI is currently testing could be more potent. On Monday, OSI`s stock dropped 57 percent or $18.74 to a two-year low of $14.05 after the AstraZeneca news.

Analyst Jason Zhang at Stephens Inc. said that the setback for Iressa doesn`t necessarily mean that OSI`s Tarceva is doomed. He said, in a note to clients, that there are important differences between the two drugs, including how they`re metabolized by the body.



Zhang acknowledged that there is greater "uncertainty" about the prospects for Tarceva, but he also said the OSI drug now has the chance to be the first of its kind used in the initial treatment of cancer patients. He went on to say that Tarceva has a higher probability of making it through clinical trials successfully than Iressa and the decline in OSI`s stock has created a "good buying opportunity."
