First Ecom.com Makes Board Appointment, Further Strengthens Senior ManagementTeam
Fri Feb 25 07:31:00 EST 2000
HONG KONG, Feb 25, 2000 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- First Ecom.com (OTCBB:FECC), a
global leader in Internet payment processing services, today announced new board
and senior management appointments.
Ian Robinson, formerly a senior partner in the Hong Kong office of international
accounting firm of Ernst & Young, joins the board as head of its Audit
Committee. Robinson is a member of the Hong Kong Housing Society and chairman of
its Audit Committee. He also serves on the boards of several of Kerry Packer`s
Consolidated Press Group companies.
"First Ecom.com is already fortunate to have some very capable outside
directors, and we are delighted to have Ian Robinson join us," said Gregory Pek,
president and chief executive officer. "Our company is moving rapidly from
start-up to a fully operating business, and Ian will play a crucial role as head
of the board`s Audit Committee, which has been established as part of the
process of applying to be traded as a NASDAQ national market system company."
With the appointment of Robinson, Cody Cain steps down from the board to work
with the company in a full-time executive capacity. Cain joined the board when
he was a partner of US Web/CKS, and now becomes vice president, Investor
Relations. "Cody has given the board tremendous support from day one, and we are
very happy to be able to bring him over as one of the management team," said
Pek.
Also announced was the appointment of John Brewer as chief financial officer.
Brewer, 43, joined First Ecom.com in September 1999 as corporate secretary, and
is responsible for the company`s corporate and securities filings. Brewer is a
long-term Hong Kong resident, and was previously corporate secretary of a
London-listed company headquartered there.
The company further announced changes among its country managers and reported
the departure of Choong-wan Lee, country manager, Korea, and the appointment of
Chris Yau as country manager, Taiwan. Yau will join First Ecom.com on March 1,
bringing 15 years of experience in network systems with companies such as NEC,
MITAC and, for the past seven years, with MasterCard.
"Our marketing efforts have been particularly successful in Taiwan," said Pek,
"and we have looked very carefully for the right person to represent our
initiatives there. Chris has the background we have been seeking, and he joins
us at a very important time."

FIRST ECOM.COM SIGNS SEVEN MORE MEMORANDA WITH ASIAN BANKS
(The following is a reformatted version of a press release issued by
Bermuda Stock Exchange.) First Ecom.com Signs Additional Seven Memoranda of Understanding with Asian Banks Hamilton, Bermuda, 28 January, 2000 -
First Ecom.com (NASD OTC: BB FECC, BSX: FECC BH), a global provider of Internet payment processing solutions, today announced it has signed an additional seven Memoranda of Understanding with
banks in Hong Kong and Taiwan. "While the outsourcing of credit card transaction processing is a well established practice in the United States, it is still new to most of Asia," said Gregory Pek, president and CEO of First Ecom.com. "These MOUs indicate the willingness among a growing number of banks to evaluate outsourcing transaction
processing to dedicated providers such as First Ecom.com. By outsourcing, even the smallest of banks are able to replicate and deliver what would otherwise be only available to the very largest of financial institutions." These Memoranda of Understanding mark the first step towards the respective banks entering into a formal agreement to implement First Ecom.com`s Internet credit card payment solutions.
Man darf den Wert nicht zu schnell aufgeben. Er ist wie schon so oft gesagt eine "Perle".
