Feb. 5 (Bloomberg) -- Falkland Oil & Gas Ltd., a U.K.-based
explorer in the south Atlantic, may sell new shares or find an
additional partner as renting a deep-water oil rig to develop
sites becomes easier, Chief Executive Officer Tim Bushell said.
Falkland will decide by June or July whether it needs to
raise additional funds to meet future expenses such as rigs and
a production vessel, Bushell said in an interview in London,
where the company is based. BHP, Falkland’s current partner,
owns 51 percent of its licenses.
“I’d prefer to keep our share above 30 percent if we do
decide to find a partner,” Bushell said.
Oil prices of more than $100 per barrel last year increased
demand for the 35-or-so oil rigs suitable for drilling in sea
depths of 800 meters (8,600 feet) to 1,200 meters, leading to
longer contracts and higher rates, the executive said. Oil has
since declined to about $40 a barrel.
“The fall in oil price helps us in some ways,” Bushell
said. BHP may be able to subcontract a rig from another company
tied into a deal as declining oil prices make other fields less
profitable, he added. BHP expects to secure a rig by late this
year or early in 2010 to begin drilling at Falkland’s prospects.
Falkland estimates oil extraction in the sites it owns can
be done profitably if prices stay above about $25 a barrel.
Revenue from oil will be “about five years away,” after a
production vessel has been built and more is known about the
fields, Bushell said. The company expects results from its site
surveys, including a digital survey from the Fugro Meridian
vessel to check for drilling hazards, “in the next week or
two,” he said.
Falkland Oil has dropped 46 percent in the past year in
London trading. The company has a market value of 61 million
pounds ($89 million).

http://www.wallstreet-online.de/diskussion/1126603-2821-2830…
sehr informativ
alles geht seinen gang...
