Hai Leute,
Also, worauf wartet Ihr noch?

Kauft MIV in Berlin!

Guckt Euch Volkswagen an.

Dear ,
Re: MIV Therapeutics, Inc. Regulation S shares
Thank you for your inquiries regarding the resale of your Regulation S shares. Your shares may be resold in the United States on the OTC Bulletin Board, subject to certain hold periods and manner of sale requirements.
Rule 144 of the Securities Act of 1933 applies to the resale of these shares. Rule 144 of the Securities Act of 1933 states that when an unaffiliated investor has held shares originally purchased pursuant to an exemption from registration for a period of at least one year, then an amount of shares of not more than 1% of the total issued and outstanding amount of shares of the Company may be sold through a broker within each 90 day period.
In order to remove the legend from your shares to make them freely tradeable you will be required to obtain a legal opinion on the tradeability of these shares. You are responsible for all costs associated with the legal opinion and any broker fees that may be incurred. When the Company receives this legal opinion along with the complete 144 paperwork, it will authorize the removal of the legend so that the shares may be traded in the United States.
Alternatively, if you have held the shares for a total of two years, then the legend can be removed with no manner of sale requirement. Rule 144(k) of the Act states that when an unaffiliated investor has held shares originally purchased pursuant to an exemption from registration for a period of at least two years, the shares may be freely sold without restriction. Currently the Company’s transfer agent requires a letter confirming a shareholder’s non affiliate status and stating the shareholder has held the shares for more than two years. While the transfer agent does not currently require a legal opinion for removing a legend from shares more than two years old, that requirement may change in the future and it is recommended that you contact the transfer agent directly to confirm their present requirements. The Company’s transfer agent is:
Interwest Transfer Co. Inc.
1981 East 4800 South, Suite 100
Salt Lake City, Utah 84117
Tel. (801) 272-9294
The procedure to sell the shares on the OTCBB would be to withdraw the shares from your brokerage account and obtain the original stock certificate, which then must be then held for a minimum of one year before you can resell the shares pursuant to Rule 144. If you are able to obtain a letter from your brokerage firm or investment company certifying that the shares were purchased on a specific date and that they have not traded since that date, then you will be able to get credit for that time to go towards the one or two year holding period.
Note that the Company currently has no plans to withdraw the Regulation S shares from the Berlin or Frankfurt exchanges. It is not uncommon for companies with multi-listed shares to be trading for different prices on different exchanges. In addition, these exchanges do not allow for the unilateral delisting of shares from their exchange.
I trust the foregoing has addressed your concerns.
Please do not hesitate to contact us should you require any further information.
Sincerely yours,

MIV Therapeutics Officially Named Winner of Prestigious Award for Innovation in Advanced Biomedical Technology
Frost & Sullivan Report Praises MIVT Proprietary Biocompatible Coating Technology for Stents and Other Biomedical Devices
VANCOUVER, British Columbia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 21, 2005--MIV Therapeutics, Inc. (OTCBB:MIVT - News; FWB:MIV), a developer of next-generation biocompatible stent coatings and drug delivery technologies, has officially been named winner of Frost & Sullivan`s prestigious 2005 Award for Technology Innovation in the Field of Advanced Medical Coatings.
A report by Frost & Sullivan about the award and MIVT`s proprietary technology can be viewed at: http://www.trilogy-capital.com/tcp/mivt/frost.html.
The Frost & Sullivan award recognizes MIVT`s pioneering work to develop proprietary coating technologies that may enable the production of better, safer vascular stents, medical devices and drug delivery systems. In the award notification, Frost & Sullivan praises MIVT for its development of two distinctive routes for fabricating leading-edge biocompatible coatings for stents. The notification report also explains in detail the substantial competitive advantages of these technologies in the global biomedical marketplace.
MIVT`s proprietary technologies have been shown not to trigger a variety of the adverse reactions often associated with currently available polymer-coated coronary stents, including the re-blocking of arteries following angioplasty and thrombosis (blood clotting). MIVT coatings are based on a natural material, Hydroxyapatite (HAp), a component of hard tissue found in human teeth and bone, which enables the surface of metallic stents to virtually mimic the biological "signature" of natural tissue.
MIVT believes its innovative technology also has the potential for an array of additional biomedical applications, including dental, hip and bone repair implants.

MIV Therapeutics` Proprietary Stent Coating Studies Presented at Major TCT Conference by Independent Researchers
Tuesday October 25, 4:02 pm ET
Interim Findings in Long-Term Animal Study Reinforce Superior Biocompatibility and Stent Performance of New Coatings
VANCOUVER, British Columbia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 25, 2005--MIV Therapeutics, Inc. (OTCBB:MIVT - News; FWB:MIV), a developer of next-generation biocompatible stent coatings and drug delivery technologies for the treatment of cardiovascular disease, announced that an independent research organization has presented interim results of a long-term animal study of its novel, biocompatible stent coating technology at the world`s largest scientific convention on interventional cardiovascular therapies, the 17th annual Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics (TCT) 2005 conference, which ended Friday in Washington, D.C.
The independent researchers conducting the study concluded from interim results that the the new Hydroxyapatite (HAp) stent coatings that MIVT has developed show promise of excellent long-term biocompatibility, making the coatings a strong candidate to be a next-generation stent coating. Release of six-month follow-up data from an another group of animals in the study is pending.
Dr. Greg L. Kaluza, the Scientific Director at the Center for Research in Cardiovascular Interventions of The Methodist Hospital Research Institute in Houston, TX, and the lead investigator for the animal trial of the MIVT technology, presented his team`s findings at the TCT conference. The TCT conference selected the Methodist study for the oral presentation in recognition of the research conducted on novel coating technologies and their potential significance to the field of vascular therapy.
Methodist`s animal trial is examining MIVT`s proprietary ultra-thin coatings for vascular stents. Stents are devices implanted in the arteries to prop open the blood vessels and to maintain healthy blood flow to the heart and throughout the body. MIVT has developed a next-generation line of biocompatible coatings based on a substance called Hydroxyapatite (HAp), for use as passive and drug-eluting applications on stents, and for application on other implantable medical devices.
" In the field of vascular stents and stent coatings, two pivotal, fundamental issues of concern are biocompatibility and safety," Dr. Kaluza said. " This animal trial is an important part of the MIVT`s research program, and its objective was to verify the biocompatibility and safety of HAp-based ultra-thin coatings. The 3-month data allowed us to conclude that the ultra-thin hydroxyapatite coating selected for this study and intended for use together with microporous HAp coatings that carry drug eluting capability showed promise of an excellent long term biocompatibility and thus makes an attractive candidate for a next-generation stent coating. The 6-month follow-up data from another set of animals are pending."
The Methodist Hospital Research Institute`s porcine study was performed in compliance with GLP (Good Laboratory Practice) guidelines, CE-Mark and FDA requirements.
" The study provided interim critical data that reinforced findings of our preliminary research that has indicated exceptional safety and biocompatibility of our proprietary coating technologies," said Arc W. Rajtar, Chief Technology Officer at MIVT Therapeutics. " This uncompromised biocompatibility stands behind the potential of MIVT`s HAp coating technologies and their forecasted therapeutic advantages over the existing coatings and stent technologies currently available to the biomedical industry."
" The presentation by Dr. Kaluza was well-received and generated a great deal of interest within the medical device industry and between medical practitioners," said Mr. Rajtar. " Performance of our proprietary coatings in the animal model reinforced our long-standing confidence about the potential of our technologies to have a major impact in improving the efficacy and success of vascular stents and the quality of life for countless patients implanted with vascular stents and the variety of other medical devices."
Dr. Kaluza`s presentation was entitled, " Biocompatibility of a Novel Ultra-Thin Hydroxyapatite Stent Coating in Normal Porcine Coronary Arteries." The presentation included scientific data gathered 3 months after implanting of stainless stents coated with highly-crystallinic calcium phosphate ceramic implanted in the coronary arteries of Yucatan minipigs.
The annual TCT conference is the preeminent scientific forum for the field of interventional vascular therapy and related fields, and is attended by more than 10,000 physicians, health care providers and professionals.
MIV Therapeutics is developing a diverse suite of HAp coating formulas to enable the surface of stents and other implanted devices to virtually mimic the natural state of structurally-sound 100% biocompatible and bio-active tissue. Hydroxyapatite, unlike polymer coatings, is naturally derived and found in such hard tissues and bioceramic materials as human bone and teeth. Research has indicated that MIVT`s HAp coatings do not trigger the various adverse and inflammatory reactions that are often associated with implantation of polymer-coated stents and other foreign substances. HAp coatings are also expected to reduce the risk of thrombogenic (blood clotting) events attributable in some instances to polymer-coated stents. Some of the most recent information presented at the TCT 2005 conference estimated that thrombogenicity was identified in 20,000 cases of implanted drug-eluting stents to date, resulting in approximately 8,000 premature deaths.

grant of incentive stock options for up to 5,000,000 common
shares to employees, consultants, officers and directors of
the Company. Incentive benefits granted under the plan may be
either incentive stock options, non-qualified stock options,
stock awards, restricted shares or cash awards. Options are
granted for a term not to exceed five years from the date of
grant. Stock options granted generally vest over a period of
two years.
During the period ended August 31, 2005, the Company granted
200,000 stock options to a director of the Company with an
exercise price of $0.30 per share being vested immediately and
with an expiry date five years from date of grant.
The fair value of the option granted is estimated on the grant
date using the Black-Scholes option pricing model assuming no
dividend yield and the following weighted average assumptions:
August 31 May 31
2005 2005
Risk-free interest rate 3.50% 3.50%
Expected life (in years) 5 years 3 years
Expected volatility 90.01% 78.58%
Option-pricing models require the use of highly subjective
estimates and assumptions including the expected stock price
volatility. Changes in the underlying assumptions can
materially affect the fair value estimates and therefore, in
management`s opinion, existing models do not necessarily
provide reliable measure of the fair value of the Company`s
stock options.

Soaring Biomedical Research Funding a Boon to Innovators and Investors; Investment Grows 154% to Estimated $94 Billion in Last Decade, Strengthening R&D Pipeline for Emerging Growth Biotech Companies
LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 28, 2005--BiomedDiscoveries.com, http://www.BiomedDiscoveries.com, the online source for exclusive investor information in the biotechnology sector, announced today the availability of a report exploring the soaring investment in U.S. biomedical research in recent years, both in the country`s public and private sectors, and the practical implications and impact of this decade-long trend on emerging biotechnology companies. The article refers to the innovative biotech companies Biophan Technologies, (OTCBB: BIPH), Callisto Pharmaceuticals (AMEX: KAL), Dermisonics (OTCBB: DMSI), SGC Holdings/Medistem (OTCBB: SGCH) and MIV Therapeutics (OTCBB: MIVT).
The BiomedDiscoveries.com story focuses on some of the key findings in recent published reports in the prestigious Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA). Among these findings, total U.S. investment in biomedical research has jumped from $37 billion in 1994 to more than $94 billion in 2003. In addition, U.S. citizens overwhelmingly consider biomedical research to be a top priority on a consistent basis, according to JAMA, which could mean that even more federal funding is in store to enable improved healthcare in the coming years.
These findings appear in a special Sept. 21 issue of JAMA, investigating today`s overall trends in biomedical funding. Increased support for biomedical research could be a windfall especially for small but highly innovative companies, which face high and often escalating development costs. According to the editors of BiomedDiscoveries.com, reinforcements in R&D funding may help pave the way to the development of needed new biomedical breakthroughs.
"This upward trend in popular support, which shows no sign of falling off in the foreseeable future, could particularly bode very well for recognized, up-and-coming developers," the story notes.
Examples of notable biotechnology companies include:
-- Biophan (OTCBB: BIPH) (FWB: BTN), an advanced medical device
developer with a broad intellectual property portfolio of more
than 156 US patents, licenses and applications, that is
pioneering a growing number of advanced biomedical and
nanotechnology innovations. Its technologies include solutions
to make medical devices and surgical tools safe and/or
image-compatible with Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
systems.
-- Callisto Pharmaceuticals (AMEX: KAL) (FWB: CA4), a developer
of new anti-cancer drug treatments intended to fight various
forms of hematological cancers, as well as other drugs
targeting including inflammatory bowel disease, and biodefense
threats.
-- Dermisonics (OTCBB: DMSI), a pioneer in ultrasonic transdermal
drug-delivery technologies, being developed to enable delivery
of drugs through the skin`s pores, to exploit vast market
opportunities for non-invasive, safe, reliable and
exceptionally convenient drug delivery systems.
-- SGC Holdings/Medistem (OTCBB: SGCH), a developer of
non-controversial stem cell therapeutics, is also establishing
a number of laboratories internationally to deliver viable,
safe, non-controvertial adult stem cell remedies to help
millions of patients with diverse diseases and conditions,
including strokes, Alzheimer`s, and carvdiovascular disease.
-- MIV Therapeutics (OTCBB: MIVT) (FWB: MIV.F), a developer of
biocompatible stent coatings and drug delivery technologies
for improved cardiovascular care; it is developing a line of
ultra-thin and drug-elutings coatings for vascular stents and
other medical devices based on a biocompatible material called
Hydroxyapatite (HAp).
These companies are among many frontline innovators in the fight to improve people`s health and quality of life for the next generation, which could benefit from the soaring popular support for new biomedical research.

MIV Therapeutics Invited to Present Latest Data on Breakthrough Biofriendly Coating at Leading Medical Device Conference
Wednesday November 2, 3:30 am ET
Invitation Recognizes Potential of MIVT Proprietary Coating to Improve Stent and Drug-Delivery Effectiveness and Safety
VANCOUVER, British Columbia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 2, 2005--MIV Therapeutics, Inc. (OTCBB:MIVT - News; FWB:MIV), a leading developer of new generation biocompatible coatings and advanced drug delivery systems, and its strategic research partner, the University of British Columbia, have been invited to present their latest achievements in research and development of novel coatings designed to significantly improve the therapeutic effectiveness and safety of vascular stents, drug-eluting stents and other implantable medical devices at the 2005 Materials & Processes for Medical Devices Conference on November 16, at the Park Plaza Hotel, in Boston, MA.
MIVT has developed a new line of ultra-thin and drug-eluting coatings for cardiovascular stents and other medical devices based on a material called Hydroxyapatite (HAp). Independent research studies have indicated that these HAp-based coatings provide superior biocompatibility compared to existing stent materials and coatings. The worldwide stent market currently totals approximately $6 billion, according to some estimates. Some biomedical industry analysts predict that the global market for drug-eluting stents and other drug-delivery applications will grow to $100 billion or more in coming years.
"Our presentation in Boston comes at a time when our coating technologies are maturing rapidly in preparation for introduction to the marketplace," said Alan Lindsay, Chairman and CEO of MIVT. "We have entered the final pre-commercialization phase of an intensive research and development program. The unparalleled biocompatibility of our unique coating technologies specifically addresses the weaknesses of existing products. Our solutions are designed to enable the multi-billion-dollar stent and medical device industry to create a new generation of significantly safer and more effective vascular stents and other devices."
Research directors from MIVT and the University of British Columbia (UBC) are scheduled to make the presentation entitled, "Hydroxyapatite Coatings for Coronary Stents", which will outline the progress of the research program and highlight the achievements made by the MIVT and UBC research teams. Arc Rajtar, MIVT`s Chief Technology Officer, and Dr. Quanzu Yang, Ph.D., of the UBC`s Department of Materials Engineering, are scheduled to deliver the presentation.
The research program to be presented focused on "wet" chemical technologies, including sol-gel, electro-chemical and electrophoretic methods of deposition, which resulted in ultra-thin (less than 1um) and micro-thin (1-10um) calcium-phosphate bio-ceramic films. The ultra-thin films are designed as a surface modification for metallic implants, and were shown to have resulted in exceptional biocompatibility for those implants. The micro-thin films were developed and evaluated also as a potential vehicle for drug delivery purposes for a variety of implantable medical devices.
"Stent coatings must withstand significant structural challenges during manufacturing and implantation, and must remain structurally sound, safe and biologically stable for years after implantation," said Mr. Rajtar. "We are pleased to report that our proprietary HAp deposition technologies successfully addressed these engineering challenges, confirmed by stringent evaluation test results, both on vitro and in-vivo, which we will also present at the Conference. These results, combined with the proven exceptional biocompatibility of our proprietary coating technologies sets a firm foundation for the development of a drug eluting platform superior to the technologies offered to the market at the present time."
The MIVT team consisted of Mr. Rajtar, Maurice Lien and Doug Smith. UBC scientists Dorna Hakimi, Muhrdad Keshmiri, Dr. Yang and Manus Tsui worked under the direction of Dr. Tom Troczynski, Ph.D., who is Vice President Coatings at MIVT as well as Professor of Ceramics, Dept. of Materials Engineering, at UBC.

but thats fair and fair enough...

hallo dosco,
trotz guter nInvest Inside: MIV Therapeutics weiter ein Kauf
07.11.2005 (10:03)
MIV ist offizieller diesjähriger Gewinner des von Frost & Sullivan verliehenen renommierten "Award for Technology Innovation in the Field of Advanced Medical Coatings".

MIV sei offizieller diesjähriger Gewinner des von Frost & Sullivan verliehenen renommierten "Award for Technology Innovation in the Field of Advanced Medical Coatings".

MIVT Discusses Positive Interim Research Results on Path to Commercialize New Generation Stent Coatings
Thursday November 10, 3:30 am ET
Chief Technology Officer Cites Interim Results of Long-Term Animal Studies in Anticipation of Final 6 Month Results and Report in Interview with BiomedDiscoveries.com
LOS ANGELES, Nov. 10, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- BiomedDiscoveries.com, http://www.BiomedDiscoveries.com, the online source for exclusive investor information in the biotechnology sector, today announced the availability of a new audio interview with Arc Rajtar, Chief Technology Officer of MIV Therapeutics (OTC BB:MIVT.OB - News); (FWB:MIV), a leading developer of new generation biocompatible coatings and advanced drug delivery systems.
In the interview, Mr. Rajtar discussed recently announced interim findings of an independent, long-term animal study of MIVT`s novel technology to create new, highly biocompatible and bio-friendly coatings for vascular stents, including drug-eluting stents and other medical devices. Stents are widely used medical devices designed to prop open clogged blood vessels to maintain healthy blood flow to the heart and throughout the body, but current products are associated with a number of undesirable effects that result from insufficient biocompatibility.
``Our objective was to develop a coating which will be as biocompatible as possible and biologically safe,`` said Mr. Rajtar. ``The results from 1-month and 3-month long arms of this study confirmed our earlier expectations of superb biocompatibility and total safety of our Hydroxyapatite coatings.``
The final results of the 6 Month long study are expected next week.
MIVT has developed both ultra-thin as well as thicker, drug-eluting stent coatings based on a highly biocompatible material called Hydroxyapatite (HAp). The coatings are being conducted at the Center for Research in Cardiovascular Interventions of The Methodist Hospital Research Institute in Houston, TX. The findings were reported to the scientific community recently at the Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics 2005 conference, the field`s most important annual conference.
``In its thicker, submicron version which is also highly porous, we see our HAp coatings as exceptional vehicle for short-term and long-term drug delivery purposes,`` Mr. Rajtar said. ``This is exceptional because at the present time there is no other coating which can match the biocompatibility of Hydroxyapatite and provide drug eluting capability at the same time.``
Mr. Rajtar explained that during animal trials, MIVT`s stent coatings did not cause any adverse reactions, including excessive stenosis (re-clogging of arteries through unwanted tissue growth), and no thrombus (blood clot), both of which are growing concerns in connection with the drug-eluting systems now available for use in the health care marketplace.

MIVT`s Proprietary Stent Coating Technology Completes Major Long-Term Animal Study with Excellent Results
Tuesday November 15, 3:30 am ET
Six-Month Study Demonstrates Unparalleled Biocompatibility and Safety of MIVT HAp Coatings for Drug-Eluting Stent Applications
VANCOUVER, British Columbia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 15, 2005--MIV Therapeutics, Inc. (OTCBB:MIVT - News; FWB:MIV), a leading developer of new generation biocompatible coatings and advanced drug delivery systems, announced today that a pivotal long-term animal study of its novel stent coating technology has been concluded, with results that were unequivocally successful in demonstrating the coating`s excellent biocompatibility and safety.

The 6-month study, performed by Center for Research in Cardiovascular Interventions of the Methodist Hospital Research Institute, an independent research organization, indicated that MIVT`s Hydroxyapatite-based coatings were excellent candidates for advanced drug-eluting stent coatings.
Dr. Greg L. Kaluza, MD, scientific director of the CRCI at the Methodist Hospital Research Institute, was the lead investigator for the study. Dr. Fred J. Clubb, Jr. of Texas Heart Institute served as a study pathologist.
"The study`s results are particularly encouraging for several reasons," said Dr. Kaluza. "The polymeric stent coatings that are now widely used are increasingly criticized as a suboptimal solution, because many of them may elicit prolonged foreign body response and foster platelet deposition which may in turn trigger in-stent thrombosis," he said. "In contrast, the Hydroxyapatite coating we studied is built entirely of a mineral native to the human body and as such may have a long-term biocompatibility advantage."
The results of this recently completed study indicate this coating may be safely used as a drug-eluting platform since it may be expected from the present study that the Hydroxyapatite (HAp) coating will remain inert in the arterial wall even long after the drug is completely eluted. The well-known long-term neutral effects and natural absorption of HAp coatings from orthopedic and dental implants strongly reinforce this belief. The HAp coating with microporous structure is expected to enable effective drug elution without ever involving any polymer, a design concept that is currently viewed as superior and the most attractive for drug-eluting stents."
"We now have a comprehensive set of data demonstrating that the ultra-thin Hydroxyapatite coating with a potential for use in non-polymeric and composite drug-eluting systems selected for this study has excellent biocompatibility at all three studied time points, up to as long as six months of observation," said Dr. Kaluza. "The safety profile of the studied coating is exemplary and appears at least on par with stainless steel stent surface, which remains a benchmark whose biocompatibility has not been surpassed by any coating to date."
Stents are devices implanted in the arteries to prop open the blood vessels and maintain healthy blood flow to the heart and throughout the body. MIVT has developed a next-generation line of coatings based on a substance called Hydroxyapatite (HAp), to create both passive and drug-eluting coatings designed to eliminate many of the serious problems that are associated with current generations of stent coatings.
"The study provided critical long-term data that reinforced our preliminary research that has indicated the exceptional safety and biocompatibility of our proprietary coating technologies," said Alan Lindsay, CEO of MIVT. "The uncompromised biocompatibility stands behind the potential of MIVT`s HAp coating technologies and their expected therapeutic advantages over the existing coatings and stent technologies currently available to the biomedical industry."
The successful results of the animal study will enable MIVT to plan future clinical trials to continue to advance its research and product development programs for the multi-billion-dollar global stent marketplace.
The study was conducted in a standard model of porcine coronary arteries and utilized angiography, intravascular ultrasound and histology to evaluate tissue response to HAp-coated stents in comparison to identical stainless steel stents. The study was performed in compliance with GLP (Good Laboratory Practice) guidelines, CE-Mark and FDA requirements.
Some of the most recent information presented at the TCT 2005 conference estimated that thrombogenicity was identified in 20,000 cases of implanted drug-eluting stents to-date, resulting in approximately 8,000 premature deaths.

About MIV Therapeutics, Inc.
MIV Therapeutics, Inc. is developing a next-generation line of advanced biocompatible coatings for passive and drug-eluting application on cardiovascular stents and for application on broad range of other implantable medical devices. The Company`s ultra-thin coating formulation is designed primarily to protect surrounding tissue from the chemical interaction with metal stents. The Company`s unique ultra-thin coating has been derived from a biocompatible material called Hydroxyapatite (HAp) that during in-vivo animal trials demonstrated excellent safety and superior healing properties pursued by the science in the field of advanced implantable drug delivery systems. Hydroxyapatite is a bioactive porous material that makes up the bone mineral and matrix of teeth. It is widely used as a bone substitute material and for coating implantable fixation devices in orthopedic, dental and other applications. The Company`s novel drug-eluting technologies based on Hydroxyapatite provide an attractive alternative solution to polymer-based drug-eluting coatings currently in the stent market. The Company`s drug-eluting coating is designed to suit a broad range of implantable medical devices which may benefit from a highly customizable drug release profile. MIV Therapeutics Premieres Research into Advanced Polymer-free Drug Delivery Systems at Leading Biomedical Conference; MIVT Premieres Revolutionary Drug Eluting System Based on its Proprietary Hydroxyapatite Coating Technologies
MIV Therapeutics, Inc. (OTCBB:MIVT) (FWB:MIV), a leading developer of new-generation biocompatible coatings and advanced drug delivery systems, and its strategic research partner, the University of British Columbia, presented their latest achievements in research and development of a revolutionary polymer-free coatings and drug delivery systems for vascular stents and other implantable medical devices, at the 2005 Materials & Processes for Medical Devices Conference, on November 16 in Boston, MA.
At the conference, MIVT revealed to industry and scientific professionals for the first time the latest research findings into its newest, revolutionary polymer-free drug eluting technology. Most importantly, the preliminary evaluation of these potentially breakthrough coatings confirmed their exceptional suitability for drug delivery purposes and delivered extremely promising drug eluting characteristics.
MIVT is developing advanced drug-eluting coatings for stents and other devices based on the use of porous calcium phosphate, a non-polymer alternative drug-carrying vehicle designed to eliminate problems associated with current polymer-based coatings now in use. Under the Company`s research program, micro-thin films of calcium phosphates were deposited on a layer of ultra-thin Hydroxyapatite (HAp) as a vehicle for drug delivery purposes for a variety of implantable medical devices. MIVT already completed developing ultra-thin non-porous HAp coatings that have demonstrated exceptional biocompatibility and safety.
"The presentation of our newest coating and drug eluting technologies at the Boston conference gave us an opportunity for MIVT to make a decisive testimony of our achievements and capabilities before the industry`s leading scientists and professionals," said Alan Lindsay, Chairman and CEO of MIVT. "The superb biocompatibility and safety of our proprietary coatings, complemented with the extremely promising characteristics of our drug delivery solutions, are designed to directly target the weaknesses of present drug delivery technologies used in cardiovascular stents and other medical devices. We are very pleased with preliminary evaluation results of these breakthrough technologies, which have generated considerable interest and appreciation throughout our industry."
Arc Rajtar, MIVT`s Chief Technology Officer, assisted by Dr. Quanzu Yang, Ph.D., of the UBC`s Department of Materials Engineering, delivered a comprehensive presentation of MIVT proprietary coating and drug delivery technologies titled, "Hydroxyapatite Coatings for Coronary Stents." The presentation highlighted the achievements of the MIVT and UBC research teams. The Hydroxyapatite-based technologies presented at the conference included sol-gel, electro-chemical and electrophoretic methods of deposition, which resulted in ultra-thin, calcium-phosphate bio-ceramic films. Long-term evaluation of MIVT`s ultra-thin films used as a surface modification for metallic implants confirmed their exceptional biocompatibility and excellent safety during animal trials completed recently at the Methodist Hospital in Houston, TX.
MIVT`s new line of ultra-thin and drug-eluting coatings for cardiovascular stents and other medical devices utilize material called Hydroxyapatite (HAp). MIVT is developing its coating systems to target the estimated $6 billion worldwide stent market. MIVT`s coating solutions are also targeting the broader range of implantable medical devices, estimated to have the potential to grow to $100 billion or more in coming years.
"The Materials & Processes Conference gave us a unique audience to premiere our ultra-thin coating technologies for the professional community," said Mr. Rajtar. "The high-resolution electronic microscopy pictures of our polymer-free drug eluting coatings and the research results we presented were very well-received by our scientific peers and key industry representatives."
MIVT`s R&D teams are continuing to accelerate the pace of work on the Company`s breakthrough solutions. As a result of encouraging research findings, this portion of the Company`s development program is approximately 6 months ahead of schedule, Mr. Rajtar added.
