      hallo freunde,

      sollte man beobachten!

      ENRO AG / Kapitalerhöhung/Umsatzentwicklung

      21.03.2007

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

ENRO AG will weiteres Biomassekraftwerk kaufen

Is Goldman Sachs Really Making a Play for Ormat?
      posted on: October 18, 2007

Ormat (ORA), a company that engages in the geothermal and recovered energy power business, continued its recent surge amid conflicting takeover rumors. Early in the day on Wednesday, rumors had the Apax fund paying $2.25 billion for the company, but both parties strongly denied these rumors.
Then the next rumor hit, saying that none other than Goldman Sachs (GS), was looking into buying a 10% share of the company. Interestingly enough, ‘no comment,’ was the response of choice. Sounds like we have a winner! Although it’s important to note that Merrill Lynch (MER) came out with a note that it thinks that nothing is going to happen. The fact that we had no denials from either side, sure sounds like something is going on.
Ormat's shares have been flying, and have surged 25% over the last two months. In late June I wrote about a possible takeover, and since then the stock is up over 43%.
With crude prices over $87, there is continued strong interest in alternative energy, and I would expect consolidation in the sector. I think that Ormat is an interesting target, and wouldn’t be surprised to hear a deal announced in the not too distant future.

(Ausgabe 01 vom 14.01.2008) (15.01.2008/ac/a/a)

ORMAT TECHNOLOGIES, INC. REPORTS FOURTH QUARTER 2007 AND YEAR-END RESULTS

RENO, Nevada, February 26, 2008 – Ormat Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: ORA) today announced financial results for the fourth quarter and full year ended December 31, 2007.

For the fourth quarter of 2007, total revenues were $70.6 million, an increase of 6.0% over the fourth quarter of 2006. Electricity Segment revenues for the quarter increased 19.2% over the fourth quarter of 2006. Net income for the quarter ended December 31, 2007 was $8.9 million compared to $4.2 million in the fourth quarter last year.

For the year ended December 31, 2007, total revenues were $296.0 million, a 10.0% increase over total revenues of $268.9 million for the year ended December 31, 2006. Net income for the year ended December 31, 2007 was $27.4 million compared with $34.4 million for the year ended December 31, 2006.

"The strong performance experienced by us beginning in the second quarter continued into the fourth quarter." said Dita Bronicki, President and Chief Executive Officer of Ormat. "We added 44 MW of new capacity to our ownership portfolio in 2007 and started the year 2008 with an additional 17 MW from our Galena III project out of a total of 128 MW we expect to add in 2008. Other significant achievements of last year include securing substantial land positions for future development, extensive exploration activity in a number of geothermal sites, and entering into new power purchase agreements for five projects that may add up to 256 MW of new capacity, our largest addition of PPAs in one year. These achievements contribute to maintaining our growth momentum."

"In our Products Segment, we made progress in the development of the Sarulla project and in the first quarter of 2008, we received a $20 million limited notice to proceed from a US customer for an engineering, procurement and construction contract that we expect to finalize shortly. Over the past few years, we have seen growth in the geothermal industry with new smaller players entering the market. We believe this industry wide growth holds potential for Ormat's Products Segment."

On February 26, 2008, Ormat's Board of Directors approved the payment of a quarterly cash dividend of $0.05 per share pursuant to the Company's dividend policy, which targets an annual payout ratio of at least 20% of the Company's net income, subject to Board approval. The dividend will be paid on March 27, 2008 to shareholders of record as of the close of business on March 14, 2008. The Company expects to pay a dividend of $0.05 per share in the next three quarters.

Dita Bronicki continued: "The renewable energy market is growing and is expected to continue to do so for years to come. There is increasing demand for clean, baseload power that is driven, in part, by a favorable regulatory environment in the United States and abroad. This reality provides strong support for our own growth plans. Our goals over the next few years are to continue to lead in innovation, to drive sustainable growth in our Electricity Segment and to secure new orders in our Products Segment. With our strong technical and financial base, we have a solid foundation for building our business over the long-term."
Electricity Segment revenues for the fourth quarter of 2007 were $55.5 million, an increase of 19.2% as compared to $46.6 million during the same quarter in 2006. Products Segment revenues for the fourth quarter of 2007 were $15.1 million, a decrease of 24.8% as compared to $20.1 million for the same quarter in 2006.

Net income for the quarter ended December 31, 2007 was $8.9 million, or $0.22 per share of common stock (basic and diluted) compared with net income of $4.2 million, or $0.12 per share of common stock (basic and diluted) for the quarter ended December 31, 2006. Net income for the quarter ended December 31, 2007 includes $1.2 million, or $0.03 per share (basic and diluted), of unrealized other-than-temporary loss related to certain auction rate securities, as described below. In the quarters ended December 31, 2007 and 2006, there were 40.9 million and 36.2 million, respectively, weighted average shares used in the computation of diluted earnings per share.

Electricity Segment revenues for the year ended December 31, 2007 were $216.0 million, an increase of 10.5% as compared to $195.5 million for the year ended December 31, 2006. Products Segment revenues for the year ended December 31, 2007 were $80.0 million, an increase of 8.8% as compared to $73.5 million for the year ended December 31, 2006.

Net income for the year ended December 31, 2007 was $27.4 million ($0.71 per share of common stock - basic and $0.70 per share of common stock - diluted) compared with net income of $34.4 million ($1.00 per share of common stock - basic and $0.99 per share of common stock - diluted) for the year ended December 31, 2006. Net income for the year ended December 31, 2007 includes $1.2 million, or $0.03 per share (basic and diluted), of unrealized other than temporary loss related to certain auction rate securities, as described below. In the years ended December 31, 2007 and 2006, there were 38.9 million and 34.7 million weighted average shares, respectively, used in the computation of diluted earnings per share.

Adjusted EBITDA for the quarter ended December 31, 2007 was $25.2 million as compared with $22.5 million for the quarter ended December 31, 2006. Adjusted EBITDA includes operating income and depreciation and amortization totaling $2.0 million and $4.4 million for the quarters ended December 31, 2007 and 2006, respectively, related to the Company's unconsolidated investment interest of 50% in the Mammoth Project in California and 80% in the Leyte Project in the Philippines.

For the year ended December 31, 2007, the Company's gross margin was 26.8% compared to 34.7% for the year ended December 31, 2006. Operating income for the year ended December 31, 2007 was $43.5 million as compared with $61.9 million for the year ended December 31, 2006, a decrease of 29.8%. The reduction in operating income is primarily attributable to increased costs in our Electricity Segment mainly in the first quarter and in the Products Segment during the whole year.

Adjusted EBITDA for the year ended December 31, 2007 was $107.2 million as compared with $119.8 million for the year ended December 31, 2006. Adjusted EBITDA includes operating income and depreciation and amortization totaling $14.6 million and $16.0 million for the years ended December 31, 2007 and 2006, respectively, related to the Company's unconsolidated investment interest of 50% in the Mammoth Project in California and 80% in the Leyte Project in the Philippines.

As of December 31, 2007, the Company had cash, cash equivalents and short-term marketable securities of $60.7 million compared to $116.7 million as of December 31, 2006. This decrease is principally due to our use of $216.4 million of cash resources to fund capital expenditures and $131.8 million to repay long-term debt to our parent and to third parties (including the $50.7 million capital note on December 3, 2007) during 2007. The decrease in our cash resources was partially offset by the $137.2 million net proceeds from our sale of 3,000,000 shares of common stock in October 2007, the $17.5 million net proceeds from our sale of 381,254 shares to our parent, the $69.2 million net proceeds from the OPC tax monetization transaction, and $56.5 million derived from operating activities in the year ended December 31, 2007.

The decrease in the Company's cash, cash equivalents and short-term marketable securities is also partially due to the deterioration in the market for auction rate securities. Although the auction rate securities that the Company holds continue to pay current interest based on valuation models and an analysis of other-than-temporary impairment factors, the Company has recorded a pre-tax impairment charge of $2.0 million in the fourth quarter of 2007. In addition, the Company has recorded an unrealized pre-tax loss of approximately $0.8 million in other comprehensive loss as a result of other auction rate securities whose decline in fair value is deemed temporary. The portion of the Company's auction rate securities associated with failed interest rate reset auctions has been included in long-term assets in the consolidated balance sheets as of December 31, 2007.

Commenting on the outlook for 2008, Ms. Bronicki said, "We expect our 2008 Electricity Segment revenues to be approximately $245 million. We also expect an additional $9 million of revenues from our share of electricity revenue generated by a subsidiary, which is accounted for under the equity method. With regard to our Products Segment, we currently expect that our 2008 revenues will be between $70 million and $80 million."

Nevada Power Company, Kern River Gas Transmission and Ormat Technologies Announce
      New Renewable Energy Project

LAS VEGAS, NV March 24, 2008 - Nevada Power Company, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sierra Pacific Resources (NYSE:SRP), Kern River Gas Transmission Company, a wholly-owned subsidiary of MidAmerican Energy Holdings Company, and Ormat Nevada Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Ormat Technologies Inc. (NYSE: ORA) announced today plans to build a six-megawatt (MW) waste-heat recovery renewable energy project in the Goodsprings area approximately 35 miles south of Las Vegas.

The project, subject to regulatory approvals, is scheduled to be completed in 2010 and will produce enough renewable energy to supply 1,200 residential customers in southern Nevada.

"We are very pleased to be able to reach agreements to bring another renewable energy project to southern Nevada," said Tom Fair, Sierra Pacific Resources executive, renewable energy. "This innovative energy recovery project is another step in our commitment to invest in more renewable projects."

"Kern River is proud to be part of this environmentally sound project," said Micheal Dunn, Kern River president. "These systems will generate additional power with no increase in emissions. With the renewed focus on green power, Kern River developed a company goal to evaluate waste heat recovery systems. We're pleased to be part of this project and assist one of our largest customers in meeting their goals of supplying renewable power."

"We are happy to have been chosen to be the supplier for this first Recovered Energy Generation Power Plant (REG) in Nevada, the first REG unit to be owned by a Utility and the first REG installation on the Kern River Pipeline" said Dita Bronicki, Chief Executive Officer of Ormat. "The leadership of Sierra Pacific Resources in the implementation of the Renewable Portfolio Standard is once again demonstrated in this project which produces electricity without burning additional gas and without emissions, and therefore increases the utilization of the energy content of the gas by approximately 25%."

The project consists of two agreements. The first agreement, between Nevada Power and Kern River, allows Nevada Power to build the facility at Kern River's Goodsprings compressor station site. In the second agreement Nevada Power has contracted with Ormat to engineer, procure and construct the waste heat recovery system. Ormat has developed a proprietary technology that efficiently harvests waste heat at such facilities to produce electrical energy. Financial terms of the agreements were not disclosed.

Nevada Power will file the Kern River agreement with the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada (PUCN) for approval of the project.

In the normal operation of the compressor station, some waste heat is released. This thermal energy can be captured and converted to electricity by the installation of an energy converter similar to those used in geothermal electricity generation. The Goodsprings Project will use three heat exchangers to capture the heat from each of the existing gas turbines used to compress the gas and a recovered energy generator to produce the electrical output.

Ormat Announces First Geothermal Joint Ownership with Investor Owned Utility

Reno, Nevada, March 26, 2008 - Ormat Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: ORA), a leading geothermal developer in the United States, and Sierra Pacific Resources (NYSE: SRP) announce a collaboration that opens a new frontier in bringing geothermal to the forefront of utility energy development. Ormat Nevada, Inc. and Nevada Power Company, respective subsidiaries of the two companies, have entered into a Joint Ownership Agreement (JOA) for a geothermal power project that is currently under development by ORMAT Nevada, Inc.

The project, known as the Carson Lake geothermal project, is located in Churchill County, Nevada, on federal lands, a portion of which includes the Naval Air Station Fallon. Ormat Nevada Inc. will develop the project until the resource is sufficiently defined at a level that is capable of supporting at least 30 MW and Nevada Power Company has regulatory approval to acquire its 50 percent ownership. Following such acquisition, Ormat Nevada will continue to develop the project on behalf of the owners. If the development results in a resource that cannot support at least 30 MW, the parties are not obligated to close the acquisition and Ormat may continue development of the project by itself.

Under the JOA each party will own a 50 percent undivided interest in the project as tenants-in-common. To acquire its project interest, Nevada Power Company will pay 50 percent of the costs expended to the closing date of the acquisition plus a fee. Drilling, Construction, and O&M costs moving forward will be governed by the JOA and separate Drilling Services, EPC Agreements, and an O&M Agreement.

To enable the JOA closing, the parties will amend an existing Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) to reflect the joint ownership of the Project. Each party will be entitled to 50 percent of the production tax credit (PTC) or 50 percent of the Investment tax credit (ITC) as applicable. The agreement is subject to PUCN approval.

"Ormat is proud to be recognized and pursued as a credit worthy, experienced partner," said Dita Bronicki, Chief Executive Officer of Ormat. "This new development path with Sierra Pacific Resources indicates that utilities are committed to renewable energy and demonstrates that geothermal is no longer a high priced alternative but a utility-grade, baseload resource."

Ormat Technologies and Nevada Geothermal Power Execute EPC Contract for Blue Mountain Faulkner 1 Power Plant

VANCOUVER, B.C., April 2 2008, Nevada Geothermal Power Inc. (NGP) (TSX-V: NGP, OTC-BB: NGLPF) and Ormat Technologies Inc. (NYSE: ORA) announced today that NGP Blue Mountain I LLC (NGP I) has entered into an Engineering, Procurement and Construction Contract (EPC) for a 49.5 MW power plant, consisting of three Ormat Energy Converters (OEC's) at Blue Mountain's geothermal project in Nevada. The plant design incorporates Ormat's proprietary power generation technology with water-cooling for maximum efficiency.

The total EPC contract value is US$76 million, of which a US$20 million was previously released under a Limited Notice to Proceed (LNTP) in order to secure the guaranteed substantial completion date of December 31, 2009. The full release under the EPC contract is subject to finalizing the financing for the project and is expected to occur by April 30, 2008. The EPC provides for an additional partial release if necessary.

The EPC consists of three Ormat Energy Converter units which are guaranteed to produce 16.5 MW (gross) each, totaling at least 49.5 MW (gross). The output of the power plant at Blue Mountain will meet the Phase 1 power delivery requirements of the existing 20-year Power Purchase Agreement between NGP and Nevada Power Company with a reserve of excess power. NGP is currently in discussions with Nevada Power Company for a Phase II power contract covering the reserve power.

"The EPC contract with Ormat increases the power output of each OEC unit to 16.5 MW from the originally planned 12.5 MW. The increased OEC capacity results in a lower cost per MW installed at Blue Mountain. Ormat's proven power plant technology combined with Blue Mountain's favourable reservoir chemistry will extract more megawatt-hours of energy per unit volume of geothermal fluid compared to other available technologies, maximizing the overall megawatt potential for the Blue Mountain geothermal field," stated Brian Fairbank, President and CEO of Nevada Geothermal Power Inc.

"We are pleased for the opportunity to work with NGP's development team and are delighted to contribute from our experience and knowledge in this field. Our technology is perfectly suited for the Blue Mountain resource and we are looking forward to delivering on schedule a great performing power plant," said Dita Bronicki, CEO of Ormat Technologies Inc.

Ormat Technologies Signs a New Power Purchase Agreement with Great River Energy
Power to be produced by an Ormat Recovered Energy Generation Facility in Minnesota

April 16, 2008 - Ormat Technologies, Inc. (NYSE:ORA), today announced that one of its wholly-owned subsidiaries has executed a new 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Great River Energy (GRE), a Minnesota cooperative corporation of Elk River, Minnesota for electricity to be produced by a new ORMAT® Recovered Energy Generation (REG) facility. The new facility will have a net capacity of 5.3 MW and will convert the recovered waste heat from the exhaust of an existing gas turbine into electricity. The turbine is located at a compressor station along the Northern Border natural gas pipeline and Ormat has already secured the rights to the waste heat for the new facility.

Dita Bronicki CEO of Ormat Technologies, said: "We are encouraged by the increased attention to energy efficiency and the confidence in our REG technology. Using clean solutions such as Ormat's REG units is a win-win strategy all around, providing both parties with one of the cleanest, fastest and most cost efficient ways to generate power while reducing carbon emissions. While each of our REG power plants along the Northern Boarder pipeline is only about 5 MW, when combining the opportunities along this one pipeline alone, we are generating power equivalent to the capacity of one of our 50 MW geothermal power plants."

Ormat expects the plant to be commissioned in 2009 or early 2010. With the addition of this new REG facility, Ormat will owns a total of nine units with an installed capacity of nearly 50 MW along the Northern Boarder pipeline which are currently under operation and under various stages of construction. This is the first Ormat plant in Minnesota, a state that has enacted a Renewable Portfolio Standards program.

"Our REG technology responds to two objectives high on many governments' energy policy agendas: energy efficiency and emission reduction. As people and governments worldwide have a vital interest in reducing carbon emissions, energy efficiency solutions for existing infrastructure will become more prominent in the fight to curb harmful greenhouse gas emissions. We believe that Ormat's REG technology will become a preferred solution for business operators looking to reduce their carbon footprint - a fact that we believe is validated by each new REG facility we provide," added Mrs. Bronicki.

The Ormat REG facility consist of an ORMAT® Energy Converter (OEC) based on Organic Rankine Cycle technology, which converts recovered heat to electric power without the need for any additional fuel or water. The OEC unit is environmentally benign, as it has no emissions of CO2 or NOX

Ormat Technologies, Inc. Announces Second Closing under Transaction to Sell Part Ownership Interests in Certain Geothermal Power Projects

RENO, Nevada, April 18, 2008 - Ormat Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: ORA), today announced that on April 17, 2008 its wholly-owned subsidiary, Ormat Nevada Inc., concluded the second closing under its previously announced transaction to sell part-ownership interests in certain geothermal power projects to affiliates of Morgan Stanley & Co. Incorporated and Lehman Brothers Inc., as institutional equity investors. Under this second closing, the Galena 3 geothermal project was transferred to OPC LLC, and Ormat Nevada received an amount of approximately $64 million.
This is the second tranche of a transaction to monetize production tax credits of certain projects by bringing in institutional investors as equity investors to own the projects jointly with Ormat Nevada. The first tranche was previously announced in a press release dated June 12, 2007. As operator of all of the projects in the OPC LLC portfolio, Ormat Nevada will now also operate and maintain the Galena 3 project. Distributable cash flow generated by the projects as well as the production tax credits and the taxable income or loss associated with the projects, now including the Galena 3 project, will be allocated between Ormat Nevada and the institutional equity investors in the same proportions as previously established for the transaction. Once the institutional equity investors reach a target after tax yield on their investment in OPC, Ormat Nevada has the option to buy out the investors' remaining interest in OPC at the then-current fair market value or, if greater, the investors' "capital account" balance in OPC. Should Ormat Nevada exercise this purchase option, it would thereupon revert to being sole owner of all of the projects (including the Galena 3 project).
Commenting on the transaction, Dita Bronicki, Chief Executive Officer of Ormat said: "We are very happy to have achieved this milestone of a second closing for our OPC portfolio with our existing investors. Ormat remains interested in exploring other opportunities to utilize this financing model in our other projects under development and construction."

Ormat Technologies and Montana-Dakota Utilities Co. Announce
      New Recovered Energy Generation Project

Reno, Nev., May 1, 2008 - Ormat Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: ORA) and Montana-Dakota Utilities Co. announced today that the two companies entered into an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) agreement to build a 5.3 MW recovered energy generation facility to be located on the Northern Border Pipeline Company's (Northern Border) compressor station in Morton County, North Dakota. The facility, which is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2009, will produce electricity without burning additional fuel.
The project, subject to regulatory approvals, will increase the utilization of the energy content by approximately 25 percent and will produce enough renewable energy to supply about 5,000 residential electric customers in Montana-Dakota's service territory. Recovered Energy Generation (REG) facilities consist of ORMAT Energy Converters (OEC) based on Organic Rankine Cycle technology, which convert recovered heat to electric power without the need for any additional fuel or water.
"Ormat REG systems respond to two essential objectives in environmental conservation: energy efficiency and emission reduction," said Dita Bronicki, Chief Executive Officer of Ormat. "As the 10th Ormat REG facility installation planned on Northern Border's facilities, this project with Montana-Dakota Utilities is a testimony to the energy production capabilities of Ormat's Organic Rankine Cycle technology and highlights our continued progress in this area."
"We are excited to be a part of this project and to increase our electric generation capacity with this technology," said Andrea Stomberg, Vice President of electric supply for Montana-Dakota. "It is important to us to expand our green energy efforts."
In the normal operation of a compressor station, waste heat is released by the exhaust of the gas turbine driving the compressor used to compress the gas. This thermal energy can be captured and converted to electricity by the installation of an Ormat Energy Converter similar to those used in geothermal electricity generation. The project will use a heat exchanger to capture the heat from the existing gas turbine and the recovered heat is used in the OEC to produce the electrical output.

Ormat Technologies, Inc. Reports First Quarter 2008 Results
Q1 total revenue increased 12.4% to $69.4 million
Q1 net income of $10.1 million

RENO, Nevada, May 6, 2008 – Ormat Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: ORA) today announced financial results for the first quarter of 2008. Total revenues for the first quarter were $69.4 million, versus $61.7 million for the first quarter of 2007, an increase of 12.4%, consisting of an increase of 36.3% in revenues from the Company's Electricity Segment, offset in part by a reduction in revenues from the Products Segment.

The Company reported net income of $10.1 million, or $0.24 per share of common stock (basic and diluted), as compared to a net loss of $5.8 million, or $0.15 per share of common stock (basic and diluted), for the first quarter of 2007. The increase in net income is due primarily to an increase in generating capacity and energy generation, as well as an increase in energy rates in the United States, which offset a decline in the Products Segment. In addition, the Company reduced cost of revenues by 16.0% on a year over year basis.

Commenting on the quarter's results, Dita Bronicki, Chief Executive Officer of Ormat, stated: "The first quarter performance was in line with our expectations for 2008 and highlighted our improved operating performance, increase in our overall generating capacity and improvement in power prices in certain projects.

"Since the beginning of the first quarter, we declared commercial operation for the Galena 3 and Heber South projects and continued to make progress on our exploration work to secure geothermal resources for 2010 and beyond. Also during the quarter, we strengthened our products backlog signing three EPC agreements for a total amount of over $100 million, consisting of one geothermal and two recovered energy generation power plants, out of which approximately $50 million are still subject to a Notice to Proceed. We expect to add an additional 174 MW by the end of 2009 from projects that are currently under construction, including Olkaria and Brawley", Ms. Bronicki continued.

Electricity revenues for the quarter ended March 31, 2008 were $59.5 million, an increase of 36.3% from $43.7 million in the first quarter of 2007, and an increase of 7.2% from $55.5 million in the fourth quarter of 2007. This increase is primarily attributable to the increase in energy generation in the United States to 572,488 MWh for the three month period, from 437,126 MWh in the comparable period last year. Such increased generation resulted from additional power plants placed in service, enhanced performance of our existing power plants, as well as revenue from the Amatitlan project in Guatemala which came online in March of 2007. Also adding to the revenue increase was an increase in the energy rates in the Puna project (due to higher oil prices) and in our Standard Offer #4 power purchase agreements with Southern California Edison.

Products Segment revenues for the quarter were $9.9 million, compared to $18.1 million in the first quarter of 2007, a decrease of 45.4%. The gross margin of the Products Segment was increased from 12% to 18%. The decrease in product revenue is principally attributable to last year's lower products backlog, and the timing of revenue recognition in accordance with the percentage of completion method for each of our geothermal and recovered energy generation products. Our manufacturing and construction activities were not reduced, as we increased the amount of our manufacturing and construction activities for our own projects.

Adjusted EBITDA for the first quarter of 2008 was $27.5 million, as compared to $13.4 million in the same quarter last year, an increase of 105.9%. Adjusted EBITDA includes operating income and depreciation and amortization totaling $1.5 million and $4.1 million for the quarters ended March 31, 2008 and 2007, respectively, related to the Company's unconsolidated investment interest of 50% in the Mammoth Project in California and in the first quarter of 2007, 80% in the Leyte Project in the Philippines. Ormat Technologies Secures a $16 Million Contract for a Geothermal Power Plant in Turkey

Reno, Nevada, June 26, 2008 – Ormat Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: ORA) Today announced that one of its subsidiaries entered into a supply contract for a new geothermal power plant to be constructed in Turkey. The contract is valued at approximately $16 million and delivery of the equipment is expected to be completed within 16 months from the contract date.

The customer, MEGE- Menderes Geothermal Elektrik Uretim, A.S, a private developer and owner of the resource in Turkey, has one operating Geothermal Power Plant that was supplied by Ormat in 2004.

The new power plant significantly contributes to the local authorities' efforts to develop the base load needs of Turkey through dependable, indigenous and clean geothermal power, optimizing the energy utilization by converting both geothermal steam and brine from geothermal wells into electric power. The new plant will use air-cooled condensers and allow 100% geothermal fluid reinjection, which serves both to sustain the reservoir and to produce electrical power with virtually no environmental impact. Out of the existing plants in Turkey, one uses water-cooled condensers and the rest are air-cooled. All will utilize the hi-performance hi-efficiency organic turbine developed by Ormat for geothermal and recovered-energy applications. With this new development, Ormat technology maintains its leadership in the creation of electricity from geothermal resources in Turkey, both in MW and number of power plants.

Dita Bronicki, CEO of Ormat Technologies, said, "This marks our fourth order to supply equipment for geothermal power in Turkey and continues our leadership position in creating clean energy both in MW and the number of power plants in the country. With the addition of this plant, Ormat will have increased the amount of MWs it supplies to 20 countries to over 950 MW. We view this milestone as a demonstration of the effectiveness and reliability of Ormat's solutions and it further reinforces the applicability of our renewable energy solutions to the world electricity markets"

Ormat Technologies, Inc. Reports Second Quarter 2008 Results Q2 net income increased 42.3% to $12.2 million; Products Backlog Increased $144 million to $186 million

RENO, Nevada, August 5, 2008 – Ormat Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: ORA) today announced financial results for the second quarter of 2008.

      Second Quarter Results
Electricity revenues for the second quarter increased by 11.6% to $61.8 million and product revenues decreased by 35.7% to $18.4 million. Total revenues for the second quarter were $80.2 million compared to $84.1 million for the second quarter of 2007, a decrease of 4.6%.

For the second quarter, the Company reported net income of $12.2 million, or $0.28 per share of common stock (basic and diluted), as compared to net income of $8.5 million, or $0.22 per share of common stock (basic and diluted), for the second quarter of 2007.

Commenting on the quarter's results, Dita Bronicki, Chief Executive Officer of Ormat, stated: "We remain on track with projects scheduled to come online over the next two years with expected contribution of 101 MW by year's end and 73 MW in 2009.

"Generating capacity for both the quarter and six-months increased even as scheduled maintenance reduced production at several projects. We also built a solid product backlog that added $176 million of new orders since the beginning of the year, out of which $66 million are still subject to a Notice to Proceed. These orders were geographically diverse with projects from New Zealand, Turkey and the United States."

"The results confirm confidence in our growth goals. We secured additional leases and raised approximately $246 million in capital by completing two stock placements and the second leg of our tax monetization transaction. The funding received from these activities provides us with ample capital as we continue to advance our growth strategy," Ms. Bronicki continued.

Electricity revenues for the three-month period ended June 30, 2008 were $61.8 million compared to $55.4 million in the year ago period, an increase of 11.6%. The increase in electricity revenues is primarily attributable to a net increase in domestic generating capacity of 3.6% to 539,966 MWh for the second quarter of 2008, as well as increased rates from the Puna Project due to higher oil prices. In addition, revenue increased from energy generated from the Amatitlan Project in Guatemala and the Momotombo project in Nicaragua.

Revenues from the Products Segment totaled $18.4 million for the quarter, compared to $28.7 million in 2007, a decrease of 35.7%. While revenues in the segment decreased, manufacturing and construction activities were not reduced, as manufacturing and construction activities for the Company's internal projects increased.

Adjusted EBITDA for the second quarter of 2008 was $29.2 million, as compared to $30.6 million in the same quarter last year. Adjusted EBITDA includes consolidated EBITDA and the Company's share in the operating income and depreciation and amortization totaling $1.3 million and $4.0 million for the quarters ended June 30, 2008 and 2007, respectively, related to the Company's unconsolidated investments. The reconciliation of GAAP net income to Adjusted EBITDA is set forth below in this release.

Cash, cash equivalents and marketable securities as of June 30, 2008 increased to $137.8 million from $60.7 million as of December 31, 2007. In addition, we have unused bank lines of credits aggregating $160 million.

On August 5, 2008, Ormat's Board of Directors approved the payment of a quarterly cash dividend of $0.05 per share pursuant to the Company's dividend policy, which targets an annual payout ratio of at least 20% of the Company's net income, subject to Board approval. The dividend will be paid on August 29, 2008 to shareholders of record as of the close of business on August 19, 2008. The Company expects to pay a dividend of $0.05 per share in the next quarter as well.

Commenting on the outlook for 2008, Ms. Bronicki said, "Following our second quarter earnings results, we expect our 2008 Electricity Segment revenues to be approximately $250 million. We also expect additional revenues of approximately $9 million from our share of electricity revenues generated by Mammoth that is accounted for under the equity method. With regard to our Products Segment, we maintain our guidance for 2008 revenues and expect them to be between $70 million and $80 million".

Ms. Bronicki concluded, "The first half of 2008 yielded both top and bottom line growth that we expect will continue in the years to come, Ormat is well positioned to contribute to the mitigation of harmful effects of greenhouse gasses. We are pleased at the way in which both of our business segments are prepared for future growth, and look forward to the coming quarters."

      Six Month Results
For the six month-period ended June 30, 2008, total revenues were $149.6 million, an increase of 2.6% from $145.8 million in the same period last year. Net income for the period was $22.2 million, or $0.52 per share, compared to $2.7 million, or $0.07 per share, in the first half of 2007.

Electricity Segment revenues for the six-month period were $121.3 million, an increase of 22.5% from $99.0 million in the same period a year ago. Products segment revenues for the first half of 2008 were $28.3 million, a decrease of 39.5% from $46.8 million in the same period in 2007.

Adjusted EBITDA for the six-month period was $56.7 million, compared to $44.0 million in the same period a year ago. Adjusted EBITDA includes consolidated EBITDA and the Company's share in the operating income and depreciation and amortization totaling $2.8 million and $8.2 million for the six months ended June 30, 2008 and 2007, respectively, related to the Company's unconsolidated investments. The reconciliation of GAAP net income to Adjusted EBITDA is set forth below in the release.

Ormat Technologies, Inc. Secures Geothermal Rights in Alaska

      Last update: 12:18 p.m. EDT Sept. 11, 2008
      RENO, Nev., Sept 11, 2008 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ --

Ormat Technologies, Inc.today announced that it has secured geothermal rights for approximately 35,000 acres of land to explore geothermal energy in the vicinity of Anchorage, Alaska's largest city, for a total purchase price of approximately $3.3 million.
Ormat won 15 of the 16 tracts offered for lease on Mount Spurr, a snowcapped 11,070-foot (3,374 meters) volcano, 75 miles (120 km) west of Anchorage. Mount Spurr is in an active volcanic region. This increases the likelihood of finding a large geothermal field, compared to the more mature geological structures of Nevada and California.
Commenting on the Company's recent news, Lucien Bronicki, Chairman and Chief Technology Officer, stated, "Alaska is a new frontier in the geothermal arena with many technological and logistical challenges. Our global experience, particularly in Hawaii, and the support of the local Government along with the collaboration of other local stakeholders, will turn this challenge into an opportunity."
Mr. Bronicki continued, "Alaska has a special significance to Ormat that dates as far back as 1975 when we supplied 100 remote gate valve power systems used for protection of the environment along the TransAlaska pipeline which have been operating continuously for more than 30 years. Even the first geothermal unit developed by Ormat was for the University of Fairbanks for 130 deg Fahrenheit water at the Manley Hot Spring. We have been a friend to Alaska for many years now and we are up to the challenge of creating the State's first large-scale geothermal power plant."

Analyst upgrades rating for Ormat Technologies citing strong demand for geothermal energy
      September 12, 2008: 09:06 AM EST

NEW YORK (Associated Press) - An analyst on Friday upgraded Ormat Technologies Inc., saying there is a strong demand for alternative energy such as its geothermal energy projects.

Ormat recently received approval to supply and build a plant for Nevada Geothermal and purchased geothermal exploratory rights on 35,000 acres in an active volcanic region near Anchorage, Alaska, Piper Jaffray analyst Charles Fishman said.

"The demand for geothermal energy, a lower-priced alternative versus wind, solar and other renewables, remains strong," he wrote in a research note.

Fishman also noted Ormat's stock price has fallen 20 percent in recent weeks which creates an opportunity for investors. He lifted his rating to "Buy" from "Neutral" and maintained a price target of $49.

The analyst also reiterated his earnings-per-share estimate of $1.64 for fiscal 2009.

Based in Reno, Nev., Ormat Technologies develops and operates power plants in the United States, Guatemala, Kenya and Nicaragua.

      CARSON CITY, Nevada, October 6 /PRNewswire/ --

Geothermal Energy Improves U.S. Oil Recovery

RENO, Nevada, October 19, 2008 - Ormat Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: "ORA") announces the successful co-production of geothermal power at a producing oil well. This project marks the first of its kind by providing onsite fuel free e power that will increase the productivity and possibly extend the longevity of existing U.S. oil fields.
Ormat, in a joint project with the Department of Energy (DOE) at the Rocky Mountain Oil Test Center (RMOTC), validates the feasibility of proven technology already used in Geothermal and Recovered Energy Generation (REG) for the production of commercial electricity using hot water produced during the process of oil and gas field production. The project, conducted near Casper, WY, uses an Ormat Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) power generation system to produce commercial electricity.
"With Ormat's advancement in binary turbine technology and the increased drilling for oil and gas exploration, the U.S. is primed for additional geothermal development," according to Dr. David Blackwell of Southern Methodist University.
"In the past 20 years, Ormat's ORC power technology has optimized the range of exploitable geothermal resources from low to moderate temperatures previously discarded" said Lucien Bronicki, Chairman of Ormat.

"Ormat is a company of innovation," said Clarke Turner, director of RMOTC. "It was first recognized by the Department of Energy as an innovator nearly 20 years ago and I am honored that RMOTC was chosen by Ormat as a partner to power the world with this exciting project. Ormat Technologies and RMOTC have partnered to bring another transition here; for the first time in the world electricity is generated from hot water co-produced in an operating oilfield. Similar Ormat power plants located around the world produce one thousand Megawatts of power and hundreds more are scheduled to come online in the U.S."

The oil fields in the United States could provide an additional 5,000 MW of electricity for the United States through this technology, according to United States Senator Mike Enzi (R – Wyoming).
The Ormat ORC unit being used is similar to the 250 kW air-cooled unit that has been producing electricity from 210 degrees Fahrenheit geothermal water at an Austrian resort since 2001. Additionally, there are similar units in Nevada (700 kW) and Thailand (300 kW) that have been in continuous commercial operation and without overhaul, since 1984 and 1989, respectively.
Ormat is now assessing the feasibility of utilizing these wells to support on site power generation by employing Ormat's factory integrated sub megawatt geothermal power units, based on the Company's proprietary ORC technology, which has been field proven in installations totaling 1,000 MW worldwide.

"Strong demand tailwinds for renewable technologies like geothermal should remain in place for much of the next several years and ORA is the only geothermal pure play available to investors today," Citi wrote.
But Ormat Tech will be "forced to add a significant debt load in the next few years or curtail some growth plans. Accordingly, although the stock has come back to a more reasonable valuation and we like the story longer term, we see risk to estimates, and this may remain an overhang on the stock."

JANCO upgrading Ormat Technologies (NYSE: ORA) from Accumulate to Buy.

JANCO analyst says, "Ormat's result yet again proves management's ability to execute on the Company's growth plan, which is supported by a highly achievable financing plan. We continue to like Ormat's strong position within the industry, its vertically-integrated business model and its predictable revenue and cash flow streams. Although the planned growth calls for rising leverage, the growing level of predictable cash flows enhances the Company's debt servicing capability...We continue to apply a 24x multiple to our FY2009 estimate and maintain our $40 price target, which translates into a potential stock appreciation of 55%. Therefore, we are upgrading the stock from an Accumulate to a Buy."

Hier ein sehr interessanter Grundsatzartikel aus Israel:

      Ormat's innovation energizes geothermal technology
      Nov. 16, 2008
JJ Levine , THE JERUSALEM POST

Israel has little or no fossil fuel resources, so the idea of clean energy technologies, such as those that would tap the country's plentiful sun or windy hilltops, have always been appealing. Indeed, it was sun technology that was originally the research focus of a French immigrant named Lucien Yehuda Bronicki when he arrived in Israel in the 1960s.

But Bronicki and his wife Dita found that their way to a multibillion corporation lay in an energy resource that doesn't even exist in Israel - geothermal energy, or the generation of electricity from the hot magma below the surface of the Earth.

Today, their company, Ormat Industries, is the world leader in geothermal technology, and operates numerous power plants around the world, reducing dependence on fossil fuels and making an impact in the fight against global warming.

"Geothermal seems to be a small application - it certainly doesn't get as much exposure as wind and solar these days," said Dita Bronicki, who now serves as Chief Executive Officer of Ormat Industries, which is traded on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange, as well as of Ormat Technologies, a subsidiary that is traded on the New York Stock Exchange.

"But in those places where geothermal energy exists it is certainly the solution of choice for renewable energy."

Bronicki was speaking at a London conference on clean energy last month.

She later spoke to The Jerusalem Post in an interview discussing Ormat's being named one of the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange's five leading companies.

"Ormat is one of the leading companies in the geothermal power sector, and we hope to continue to be a leader in alternative energy development, setting an example for other companies to follow," she told the Post.

The geothermal option has a distinct advantage over wind and solar power when it comes to pricing.

The cost of solar energy, using photovoltaic cells, ranges above 20 cents per kilowatt hour (kWh), though the price is expected to drop as volume increases. Geothermal is on the other side of the spectrum, with a cost of anywhere between 6-10 cents per kWh, a price at which it is competitive with fossil fuel alternatives such as oil, gas, and clean coal technology (though polluting coal is still far cheaper).

Geothermal also has the advantage of being a dependable source of energy, and is not dependant on weather conditions or time of day.

But what geothermal is dependant on is location. Almost all viable geothermal locations are part of the Pacific "ring of fire," a large geographical entity including the eastern coast of Asia, the American West Coast and western South America. Ormat's chief focus has been on the American West, where both demand and opportunities are widely available. Ormat geothermal power plants around the outskirts of Reno, Nevada supply all the residential electricity consumption in the city.

The Ormat business model is one of vertical integration - where the company is fully involved in all steps of the process, from technological research to equipment production to power plant construction, and even operating the power plants on a long-term basis.

Ormat's plants are operated on power-purchase agreements, where local power companies agree to pay a fixed rate for Ormat's power over a number of years - generally 20-25 years.

"A year ago, people asked me 'why are you contracting out all your energy, you are losing out on the upside of the fuel price changes?' and my answer at that point was 'we want the stability, we want the certainty, we want the peace of mind,'" said Bronicki. "Well, today we do have that peace of mind."

The fact that the power is fully contracted is certainly a comforting thing in these days of dropping energy prices. The contracts guarantee Ormat a secure cash-flow stream not only for operating needs, but for future growth, as well.

Aside from geothermal energy production, Ormat applies the same technology to a different application - recovered energy generation, which takes heat that would otherwise be wasted from sources including industrial processes like cement-making or from gas turbines such as those along natural gas pipelines and generates electricity from that heat without burning additional fuel.

This process, which can be viewed as essentially energy conservation or efficiency rather than renewable energy production, can be even more profitable than geothermal, but its applicability is limited to very specific situations.

Ormat's business model places a greater emphasis on electricity generation than on equipment production - three quarters of Ormat's business revenue is from power plants which it owns.

"Many of the power plants we have acquired are plants which we built years ago, when we were not as rich a company and we could not afford to own our power plants," said Bronicki. Ormat currently has 392 MW of geothermal and 22 MW of recovered energy under operation, and, in addition, has approximately 160 MW of capacity under construction and between 200 and 250 MW under exploration and development which will come online in the next 4 years.

The other quarter of Ormat's revenue segment is manufacturing. Ormat manufactures equipment which is sold to power plants and even sells complete power plants. It is particularly in this area that Ormat benefits from being the most established and recognized player in the field, with a substantial global reach. Bronicki estimated the total supply of power from Ormat-built geothermal units to be around 1,000 MW. That is quite significant in a sector of about 10 GW (10,000 MW) worldwide and whose total theoretically viable capacity is estimated at some 50 GW.

But a new technology called EGS, or enhanced geothermal systems, which will allow access to areas where underground heat is accessible but the water used for traditional geothermal production is not available, may revolutionize the field. If this technology - which is being researched by academics and private companies including Ormat - can become feasible, the world potential for production would jump phenomenally to some 200 GW, according to a recent MIT estimate.

One of the reasons behind the growth of geothermal energy is the tax incentives and subsidies made available by governments. In fact, the recent "bailout bill" which was passed in the US Congress included a quiet provision which extended renewable energy incentives of 2 cents per kWh for a number of years. Similar legislation exists in Europe, as well.

The recent drawback of fossil fuel prices from previous highs doesn't concern Bronicki, either.

"Are you concerned about $75 oil?" asked one investor at the London conference, at a time when such a price was considered a gross exaggeration. "No, I'm not concerned," she replied. "Even at $60 - or even $50 - renewable energy is competitive without the incentives.

"If oil would go down to $12 a barrel, like it did in the late 90's, then the price might outweigh the environmental concerns for some."

Gutes Neues Jahr! Starker Start für Ormat:

      CDM: Geothermie-Projekt in Guatemala

Reno - Das Amatitlan Geothermie-Projekt in Guatemala hat die Registrierung im Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) erlangt, wie Ormat Technologies mitteilt.

      ht / Quelle: pd / Sonntag, 4. Januar 2009 / 20:03 h

The Mechanism was designed to provide business from developed countries with an economic incentive to help reduce carbon emissions and increase sustainable development in countries that do not have emission reduction targets. The Project is expected to offset emissions of approximately 83,000 tones of CO2 per year. With Amatitlan registered under the CDM, the project will be eligible to receive certified emission reduction («CER») credits, each equivalent to one tone of carbon dioxide, which can be traded or sold. The Project has a long term contract to sell all Amatitlan's CERs to a buyer domiciled in Europe. Ormat's generating portfolio includes13 projects totaling 414 MW in the United States, Central America, Kenya and New Zealand. The Amatitlan project is Ormat's first registered CDM project and one of the few CDM registered geothermal projects worldwide and the only project in Guatemala that is CDM registered.

Amatitlan was developed on a ‘build-own-operate basis and comprises a 20 MW geothermal power plant based on Ormat Energy Converters. The Project has a long-term power purchase agreement with the Instituto Nacional de Electrificatio. Mr. Lucien Y. Bronicki, Chairman of ORMAT said: «This registration is a major encouragement for Ormat to continue developing additional geothermal CDM eligible projects worldwide. Even looking beyond the benefit it provides for Ormat, it is an arrangement with far-reaching advantages that will allow for developing host countries to gain access to cost effective, clean and reliable base-load power, that will help reduce their dependency on imported fuels and on rainfall required to sustain their Hydro reservoirs.»

DEG - Dt. Invest. und Entwicklungsges.

DEG finanziert erstes privates Erdwärme-Kraftwerk in Kenia
      08.01.2009 | 12:44 Uhr

      Köln (ots) -

      - DEG arrangiert gesamte Fremdfinanzierung von 105 Mio.
      US-Dollar
