WOW!

Corporate activity during the period focused on raising the share price...:laugh::laugh:

Latest Report On China Tantalum market Report 2012-2015 By MarketResearchReports.biz

      08.03.2013 10:25:47

(live-PR.com) - According to the latest statistics from USGS, the global tantalum ore output totaled 790 tons in 2011, up 16.01% year-on-year. In particular, Brazil was still the world’s largest supplier, with the output accounting for 22.78%. Due to the eurozone debt crisis and the weakened economic resumption of America, the demand of global tantalum industry was still at a low
between 2012 and early 2013. The expectation shows that the global tantalum ore output would be no more than 700 tons in 2012.

In 2012, there were scarcely new tantalum ore projects being put into production. And new projects built before 2012 are expected to be put into production after 2013 in a successive way. In particular, the tantalum ore projects expected to be put into production in 2013 include: Egypt’s Abu Dabbab project (650,000 pounds of Ta2O5), Malawi’s Kanyika project (200 tons of Fe-Nb and 400,000 pounds of Ta2O5) and Canada’s Crevier project (178,000 kg Ta2O5).With the restart and expansion of major tantalum mines worldwide, the supply is anticipated to see significant growth.

Given the overall downturn in market demand, Ningxia Orient Tantalum realized the revenue of RMB1.843 billion in 2012Q1-Q3, and its net income hit RMB76.4 million, down 3.06% and 61.65% year-on-year, respectively. However, the demand in downstream electronic industry is projected to revive in the wake of the global economic recovery. In addition, coupled with the gradual capacity release of its own fundraising projects, the profitability of the company will be to some extent improved in the upcoming years.

Malawi Government renegotiating Niobium Mine deal

      By Collins Mtika, Nyasa Times
      March 5, 2013

Globe Metals and Mining said the results of the definitive feasibility study (DFS) on its Kanyika Niobium Project in Mzimba district northern Malawi has delayed due to the ongoing discussion with the Malawi government on the development agreement.

“The primary objective of these discussions is to assess development joint venture opportunities that can assist the company to optimize its production process and significantly lower development related capital expenditure and ongoing operation costs once Kanyika is in production,” Acting CEO and Exploration Manager Fergus Jockel said.

Jockel said this in a in a statement released on the company’s website on March 1st, 2013.

“Globe’s immediate focus remains on completing the final DFS, and progressing its potential development plans at Kanyika. Despite the delay, the Company has achieved significant milestones with respect to the progress of the DFS,” he said.

In December 2012 the company disclosed that lies in the hands of the board of directors which met in February 2013 to review the project after five years of ground work spending a US$150 million (MK48 billion) .

The Malawi government came under fire from NGOs and civil society groups on the way it handled a similar agreement with Australian Miner for the Kayerekera Uranium Mine in Karonga district, which they said Malawi got a raw deal.

But Paladin Energy international affairs General Manager, Greg Walker is on record saying it will be impossible to renegotiate the deal because the agreement includes a ten-year stability period “to provide comfort for project lenders and share- holders” given Malawi’s lack of a record as the host nation of a major resource investment.

Globe Metals and Mining expects to be able to submit an application for a mining licence for the Project well before the expiry of the current exploration licence, which ends in December 2013.

“As we progress towards completion of the final DFS, Globe is evaluating all aspects of the development and refining process to increase efficiencies and lower costs. The Board remains committed to meeting the expectations of all stakeholders, and will update shareholders as activity continues on a number of critical fronts,” Jockel added

Once operational, the Kanyika Niobium Mine will be the first of its kind in Africa but the fourth in the world after two other mines in Brazil and one in Canada.

With a projected life span of 20 years and an annual output of 3000 metric tonnes of Niobium metal, the Mine is expected to rake in US$180 million (MK50 billion) per year in revenues and employ 2000

Malawians in the construction phase and 800 operations start.

Ferro-niobium is a critical additive in the production of sophisticated steels.

The Kanyika Mining project will be the second major mining operation in the country after the Kayelekera Uranium Mine in Karonga district.

According to village headman Moffat Phiri people have started splitting villages in anticipation of the compensation that the Mine will pay to those in the face off area.

The Kanyika Niobium exploration area covers an area of approximately 607sq km and will affect 244 households and 1360 people.

Ein kleines Detail aus der letzten Unternehmensmeldung:

Globe is an African-focused resources company, with a strategy to become the major niobium and tantalum producer in eastern and southern Africa.
Globe’s primary focus is the advanced multi-commodity Kanyika Niobium Project in Malawi, which will produce niobium and tantalum products. Based on current resources, economic studies demonstrate Kanyika will support a 20 year mine life.
Globe’s corporate office in Perth, Western Australia is supported by regional operational offices in Lilongwe, and Maputo. The Company has been listed on the ASX since December 2005 (ASX:GBE).
In April 2011, the Company entered into a strategic partnership with East China Mineral Exploration and Development Bureau (ECE), a Chinese State Owned Enterprise with extensive mining operations in China and overseas. ECE is now the major shareholder in Globe, and a key partner for Globe’s exploration and development program in Africa.

Vieleicht verbirgt sich hinter diesem Satz ein in der Hauptmeldung benannter milestone (positive recoverys). Zumindest ist diese Formulierung neu.

      Niobium hunt

NIOBIUM is an alloying agent used mainly in high-strength steels. The world market is dominated by one mine, the CBMM operation in Brazil which produces 84 per cent of the world's niobium (and has a 400-year mine life).

South Korean, Japanese and Chinese steelmakers have taken equity positions worth $US3.8 billion ($3.73bn) in CBMM to ensure they keep getting supplies.

Last week, Anglo American said it would invest $US325 million in its Boa Vista niobium project, also in Brazil, to extend mine life.

But the hunt goes on outside Brazil to find new supplies. This is why state-owned East China Mineral Exploration & Development Bureau took a 53.2 per cent stake in Globe Metals & Mining (GBE) and why China Development Bank will ensure the company gets its $US220m capital to develop the Kanyika niobium project in Malawi. China consumes a quarter of the world's niobium.

GBE's feasibility study has been delayed by the restructuring of Malawi's mines department. It said on Friday that negotiations with the government were back on track and could be completed "in the forthcoming months".

Meanwhile, Alkane Resources (ALK) is expecting niobium to account for about 20 per cent of revenue from its Dubbo zirconia project. The planned zirconium and rare earths output is spoken for, and within four weeks the hope is to bed down the niobium joint venture with a European company. Alkane's long march to production at Dubbo -- it began in the mid-1990s -- seems, finally, close to its destination. Kanyika and Dubbo, with their projected 3000 tonnes each a year, will still be dwarfed by CBMM and its 64,500 tonnes a year.

      Kanyika DFS Update
Globe Metals & Mining Ltd (“Globe” or “the Company”; ASX: GBE) provides the following update on the Definitive Feasibility Study (DFS) into development of the Kanyika Niobium Project in Malawi.

The technical components of the DFS are now nearing completion and a preliminary summary has been submitted to the Board for review. The release of the final DFS has been delayed partly due to ongoing Development Agreement (DA) negotiations with Malawian Government, which were impacted by a recent organisational restructuring within the Malawian Ministry of Mines and Energy.

Significant progress has been made since negotiations with the Government of Malawi resumed in mid-February and are on track to be completed in the forthcoming months.
While the final elements of the DFS are being completed, the Company continues to work with Chinese niobium and tantalum producers with extensive technical expertise relating to processing and refining systems. The primary objective of these discussions is to assess development joint venture opportunities that can assist Globe to optimise its production process and significantly lower development related capital expenditure and ongoing operating costs at Kanyika once in production.

Discussions with project financiers for the development of Kanyika are also continuing with expressions of interest received from a number of potential funding partners.
Globe’s Acting CEO and Exploration Manager, Fergus Jockel, said: “Globe’s immediate focus remains on completing the final DFS, and progressing its potential development plans at Kanyika. Despite the delay, the Company has achieved significant milestones with respect to the progress of the DFS.
“Prior to the organisational restructure experienced within the Malawian Government, Globe was advancing as planned towards completion of the DA negotiations. The Board is confident that this remains on track, given the positive discussions held since mid-February.

“As we progress towards completion of the final DFS, Globe is evaluating all aspects of the development and refining process to increase efficiencies and lower costs. The Board remains committed to meeting the expectations of all stakeholders, and will update shareholders as activity continues on a number of critical fronts,” Mr. Jockel added.
